Christian Polanco and Alexis Guerreros cap off their 11-city Breakaway Tour with an electric live reaction show immediately following Spain's 1-0 World Cup Final victory over Argentina. The hosts dissect a defensive masterclass from La Roja, who neutralized Lionel Messi and held Argentina to zero shots on target across 120 minutes of play. The guys break down the game's turning point—Enzo Fernández's second yellow card for dissent—and Ferran Torres' dramatic extra-time winner just 30 seconds into the second half of extra time. They also marvel at Spain's historic achievement of conceding just one single goal across eight World Cup matches. The conversation turns to post-match awards as the hosts analyze Rodri earning the Golden Ball, comparing his quiet, game-controlling influence to sports legends like Shane Battier and Sergio Busquets. They touch on Unai Simon taking home the Golden Glove after only needing to make 10 saves all tournament, as well as the debate over Kylian Mbappé's Golden Boot title following a wild 10-goal third-place exhibition match. From Shakira's halftime performance to Kermit the Frog's surprising appearance, the guys review all the viral moments from the historic final. Finally, Christian and Alexis hand out their official 2026 World Cup grades, debating the merits of the expanded 48-team format and reflecting on how the tournament brought fans together across host cities. In this episode, I'm diving into my unexpected journey through the World Cup. I talk about the heartbreak of both the United States and Norway being knocked out, and how watching the tournament made me realize that soccer (or football, depending on where you're from) has a lot more in common with water polo than I ever expected. For years, the only soccer stars I really knew were Beckham, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, mostly because of the elementary school kids I used to work with. Back then, Ronaldo was always considered the greatest. Fast forward to today, and even my 8 year old daughter still talks about how amazing Ronaldo is. Meanwhile, I first learned about Erling Haaland through social media and found myself eager to watch him play. All of this led to my husband becoming completely invested in the final rounds of the World Cup, turning what should have been a casual viewing experience into an intense but surprisingly fun family event.I also explore one of my favorite parenting "what if" scenarios: What if parents could use soccer's yellow and red card system? Imagine a mom pulling out a yellow card at a playdate as a warning, or a red card that means a child has to leave early and misses the next playdate altogether. It could be a game changer. We also talk about sportsmanship, why players like Erling Haaland set a great example for kids, and how Team USA made history by successfully overturning a red card decision during the tournament. As for my own kids? They've managed to make it through the summer card-free. No yellow cards. No red cards. Just a surprisingly blemish-free summer... so far.#ErlingHaaland #Ronaldo #WorldCup #Soccer #ParentingPodcast #MomLife #SportsParenting #PlaydateProblems #FamilyPodcast #ShhhMyKidsAreAsleep

On this episode of Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast, Dan Lust (@SportsLawLust) and Mike Kravchenko (Watch on YouTube) are back for the second straight week — with three breaking stories that forced a last-minute rewrite of the rundown. The episode opens with the Kawhi Leonard trade to Toronto, which is suddenly on hold indefinitely while the NBA's ten-month Aspiration investigation drags on. Dan and Mike unpack the alleged no-show marketing deal, why the Raptors would have almost certainly checked with the league before agreeing to a massive trade involving Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and multiple first-round picks — and why "on hold" with no timeline is such a bizarre posture. Dan draws the parallel to Joe Smith and the Timberwolves, the last true blatant salary-cap circumvention case, and explains why draft-pick forfeiture may be exactly what's creating the hesitancy. From there, the duo turns to Balogun and the red card that wasn't. Dan and Mike break down the crucial distinction most outlets missed — the red card was never overturned, the suspension was reversed — and what it means that FIFA dusted off a rule under apparent pressure from a sitting U.S. president. Mike explains why Gianni Infantino's public support of Trump and the FIFA Peace Prize make this less surprising than it looks, while Dan argues Belgium came out looking worse and points to the Argentina–Egypt disallowed goal as the truly egregious officiating story of the tournament.Dan and Mike then dig into the criminal charges against former Bucknell strength and conditioning coach Mark Kulbis following the 2024 death of freshman CJ Dickey Jr. Mike lays out the timeline and the sickle-cell trait aggravator, then Dan pulls up Pennsylvania's hazing statute and reads the limitation in Section 2802, statutory-interpretation on whether up-downs and burpees can be a felony. The pair then hits the Brendan Sorsby saga as the NCAA opens a formal inquiry into Cincinnati over what the program knew and when. Followed by the Ohio injunction against the NCAA's new five-year eligibility rule, where Dan explains why a system that rewards whoever can reach a friendly local judge is a bad system for everyone. The episode closes with Paige Shiver's Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the University of Michigan, seeking internal communications, the outside law firm's investigative file, and answers about when Michigan actually knew about the Sherrone Moore relationship. Plus: Dan's Europe futures ticket, a 46-to-1 Michigan basketball bet, and a Conor McGregor–Max Holloway prediction you have about 48 hours to act on. And a note — Dan Wallach may be coming back on to talk Kalshi, Polymarket, and insider trading lawsuits....Let us know your thoughts!***Have a topic you want to write about? President Trump was questioned at the Oval Office about the major controversy swirling around tonight’s World Cup matchup between the United States and Belgium. Trump said he personally asked FIFA President Gianni Infantino to review the play and the referee’s decision to issue USA star striker Folarin Balogun a red card, meaning he wouldn’t be eligible to play in tonight’s game. Trump added that he knows sports, although he also admitted he didn’t know what a red card was, but claims that he didn’t think what occurred was a foul, but instead was just “two guys running full speed that happened to crash into each other.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
