Bring Back V10s makes its regular detour into F1's V8 era to look back on Sebastian Vettel's sensational first grand prix victory in the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.Glenn Freeman is joined by Jonathan Noble and Karun Chandhok (who was racing in GP2 that weekend at Monza) to reflect on how Vettel was able to take such a commanding victory for Red Bull's second team Toro Rosso, only three years on from it racing as Minardi! We look back on why McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen offered no threat despite starting from the front row, and how the other McLaren of Lewis Hamilton was more of a victory contender despite starting 15th on the grid. Also on the agenda: Robert Kubica's conflict with his BMW team over his fading title hopes, Kimi Raikkonen signing a contract extension that he wouldn't see out with Ferrari, Fernando Alonso's floating role in the driver market, Adrian Newey's wisdom on F1's overtaking debate, and Williams's Sam Michael making an incredibly accurate prediction about how the 2009 season would play out under F1's incoming rule changes. We then dive into the fallout from Vettel's win for Toro Rosso, including the role it played in the political battle over customer cars in F1, and how it heaped pressure and embarrassment onto Red Bull Racing.Want MORE BBV10s? "Ali Dia has the biggest brag of all time, blagging his way on to a premier league pitch..." Comedian and football coach, Lee Hudson talks all things Southampton FC From a non-football family, the busiest man Sam Michael knows on the circuit talks about coordinating comedy gigs with football fixtures (once getting to watch 3 games within 24 hours!) with tales of his best and worst Southampton away days. Lee covers Southampton legends from his (now) controversial childhood hero Matt Le Tissier to players he's gone on to play along side, to the football urban legend himself, Ali Dia! An ex-player who nearly turned pro, Lee is also a qualified coach and talks about balancing that with the comedy circuit. - Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ComTalkFootyPod Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/comtalkfootypod/ Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550121402237 Presented/Edited by: Sam Michael Music by: David Hoare Artwork Created By: Candy Jay Learn more about your ad choices. Host Carl Jones is joined by comedian and host of Comedians Talking About Football, Sam Michael and Royals superfan and terrace cult hero Johnny Hunt to continue the count up the all-time Premier League table as we reach 43rd place and Reading FC. In this second episode, we cover Reading's second spell in the top flight, the near miss of a return in 2017 and the intervening years that have seen the club fall to the brink of extinction thanks to the disastrous ownership of Dai Yongge. There's an emotional call to arms from both guests and a plea to the wider footballing world not to take for granted that it might never happen to them. We also remember Eamonn Dolan, a key factor in The Royals' success over the years, as well as looking back on some of the wildest results of any club in recent seasons, with a 7-5, 7-4 and 6-4 defeat to chew over. We'll also put a chaotic Premier League Reading XI into the archives, it's more slim pickings for the Premier League's greatest Burundian of all-time and we end on a Royals-themed round of Play Your Apps Right that gets predictably heated. Host Carl Jones is joined by comedian and host of Comedians Talking About Football, Sam Michael and Royals superfan and terrace cult hero Johnny Hunt to continue the count up the all-time Premier League table as we reach 43rd place and Reading FC. In this first episode of a packed double-header, we take a dip into the archives for a potted history of The Royals before covering how Sir John Madejski built a stadium in his own name that would eventually see a record-breaking Steve Coppell side rise to the top flight for the first time in the Berkshire club's history. A fantastic first season sees Reading pushing for the European spots before second season syndrome kicked in and they returned to the Championship - we cover where the lads think it went wrong. We got permission from Pee Wee's media manager Mark Larkham to tell this story so we twisted Larko's arm and made it a two parter! And there is plenty in it, including why Greg is like a father figure to Larko and how he taught him to take the emotion out of the big decisions. Plus, inspiring Sam Michael to chase the F1 dream after he impressed during his time working for Pee Wee and Larko in the Formula Holden program. Why he gave Eddie Jordan a bit of a ‘tune-up' when Sam got crook while working for Jordan F1 in the UK. And the great friendship the trio have to this day. There's also fascinating yarns on working with Niki Lauda to come and race in Australia, the advice he gave Mark Webber and helping to establish a successful Formula Ford chassis distributorship in Australia. The accounts department at one major sponsor jokingly called him Mr Reverse Cashflow, but Pee Wee worked seriously hard to stitch together a massive deal that took Aussies like the Great Peter Brock, Larry Perkins and more to Le Mans in a Porsche! He was brought onboard AtmosAir Solutions' Shanghai office as Executive Director of Sales and Operations in 2015.Since arriving in China a little over a decade ago, Sam has watched the world of commerce change drastically. In response to the explosion of eCommerce solutions, malls and physical retail stores have put more focus on creating experiences for consumers. Hence the rise of F&B in and around retail establishments in China.Alongside this, there has also been increasing interest in the health and wellness space, including air quality—most especially for ex-pats. Sam does not see this trend slowing down in a post-pandemic world, especially since even China's industrial sector has finally begun to prioritize air quality. For Western companies seeking to do business in China, the number one consideration is localization, which can be done by finding a reliable local partner, or even a Western China expert like Sam himself, who can work alongside the organization on their strategy. By extension—and as it always has been—it helps to forge strong business partnerships, the old-fashioned, face-to-face way, in the China market. Key Quotes:“If I want the thing, then I'll just buy the thing online. But people need a place to spend their time. [...] So, it's nice to have these retail centers where the focus of their tenants has been less and less about the products that you're going to buy and more about the experiences that you're going to have with them.”
