This episode is not based on one isolated event; it's based on several years of different experiences. It just so happens that a recent event sparked something within me to talk about this; I'm not going to go into that because it's irrelevant. But I do wanna say early on: tall ladies, don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. People will push your boundaries and buttons to see how far they can go before you react. So, it's best to let them know early on what we tolerate and what we don't tolerate. Whether it's conscious or unconscious, people may make little remarks over time that don't sit right with you. And sometimes you may let it slide. I know I've done that several times. But if it builds up, you're gonna explode. So, today, we're giving ourselves the courage and the grace to stand up for ourselves. Ok....You're probably like why is this girl asking this question???? This episode happens to be a request from one of you guys. Someone commented under one of my videos for me to talk about feeling undesirable or unattractive as a tall woman. And it's crazy because this is something that I've never really spoken about on the podcast. Like, I've spoken about femininity and masculinity, and how when you're a tall woman around lots of shorter people, they may view you as masculine because of your height and yada yada ya, but I've never actually spoken about feeling unattractive. And there were definitely times growing up where I felt undesirable because I was much taller than my peers. So, what's the answer? Are tall girls unattractive??? Today, we're talking about other people's opinions. Great subject, huh? In the last episode, I talked about how to respond to negative comments about your height and I posted a couple Reels/Shorts of some of the podcast clips. So, in one of the videos, I discussed how people think that talking about your experiences as a tall woman is not serious or not that deep and the comments….girl. Them comments were cray. There were people here saying “someone needs to grow a thicker skin” or “just ignore them” or “it's not that serious” and basically things that would kind of invalidate your feelings or experiences. And today, I'm here to tell you that if you feel this way, your feelings are VALID. It's okay to feel hurt or disrespected or sad about the negative things that people have said about you. But what are some tips on how to not feel this way and not let other people's words and opinions affect you? Tune in to the full episode below to learn more! Have you ever felt as though you're too tall for the space you're in? Have you ever entered the room and immediately felt all eyes on you? Have you ever wanted to just hide in a corner and disappear because you felt out of place? Lol why does this sound like a TV ad commercial????But if you answered yes to any of these questions, you are not alone. I quite literally have experienced these feelings on a daily basis at one point. It was so bad to the point where my posture was affected. Because if you've been here for a while, you'd know that I used to have a slouching problem and then on top of that, I have lateral and anterior pelvic tilts, which I guess was my way of subconsciously and consciously making myself shorter.Sounds crazy right? I'd beat myself up for not making friends fast enough or I wasn't transitioning into the new year seamlessly enough or I didn't complete my work fast enough. And it's like why??? It's literally the first week. It's SUPPOSED to be chaotic. The first month is actually SUPPOSED TO BE CHAOTIC. Why am I beating myself up because of something that is completely new to me? And then at one point, I began to realize that I used to do this to myself relating to my height. Why? And how did that play a role in my low confidence? This episode is actually inspired by one of my Reels that I posted over on Instagram. It went something along the lines of “wear what you want to wear. PERIOD.” And I think by all of the comments that I received, this video really resonated with you guys lol. So, I figured why not do an entire episode on it. I mean, c'mon, it's summer. Albeit, more than halfway through summer. But it's still summer. The Sun is shining. The birds are chirping. People are out and about. Now's the time to get out there and work on your confidence and live your best life. Even though you can really do these things all year round, I argue that it's easier to do this in the summer because the Sun's blaring, there's more daylight, and energy levels are up.So how can YOU build the confidence to wear what you wanna wear, long legas and all? 6 Questions a Narcissist Cannot Answer With A Straight Face

Lisa A Romano Breakdown to Breakthroughs

Play Episode Listen Later May 12, 2023 19:33

In this podcast, you will learn about 6 questions a narcissist cannot answer with a straight face. As we navigate through life, we encounter different types of people. Some are kind, empathetic, and caring, while others are self-centered, manipulative, and narcissistic. Narcissists have an inflated sense of self-importance, lack empathy, and constantly need admiration and attention. They can be charming and charismatic, but they can also be emotionally abusive and toxic. Identifying a narcissist early in a relationship is essential to avoid getting trapped in their web of manipulation and abuse. Narcissists rarely admit when they are wrong because they believe they are always right. They have an inflated sense of self-importance and believe they are superior to others. Admitting they are wrong would mean acknowledging that they are imperfect, which they cannot accept. Narcissists rarely apologize because they believe they are never wrong. They see themselves as victims and believe that others are always to blame. Apologizing would mean taking responsibility for their actions, which they cannot do. Narcissists lack empathy, which means they cannot understand or share the feelings of others. They are only concerned with their own needs and desires and have no regard for the feelings of others. Narcissists cannot handle criticism because they see it as a personal attack on their character. They have a fragile ego and cannot tolerate any form of criticism or rejection. Narcissists have difficulty accepting responsibility for their actions because they believe they are always right. They blame others for their mistakes and refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Narcissists have difficulty maintaining healthy relationships because they are only concerned with their needs and desires. They use others for their own benefit and have no regard for the feelings of others. Identifying a narcissist early in a relationship is essential because it can save you from emotional abuse and manipulation. Narcissists can be charming and charismatic, but they can also be emotionally abusive and toxic. They can make you feel like you are the problem and that everything is your fault. Trusting your instincts and looking for red flags early on in a relationship is essential. Toxic relationships hinder your personal growth. Narcissists use manipulation to mess with your psychology. To help you maintain your mental health and wellness, it is important to work on your personal development, and to learn what you can about healthy as well as toxic relationships. The more you know and understand about narcissists, the greater your chances of avoiding a toxic relationship. Growing up as a tall girl, I struggled a lot with self-confidence. This is because many of my peers (especially from a young age!) have made rude comments about my height or asked snarky questions. Someone as simple as a random classmate could even make me self-conscious... I guess this kinda led to a revelation about how you, a tall person (or really anyone in general), can build self-confidence. Finding Your Sexy with Kelcy Valletta For years, the messaging around self-love has often been tied to selfishness and self-importance.  Even the words ‘putting yourself first' can hit in a way that feels selfish or hard to truly embrace.  Though we know somewhere deep down that self-love is fundamental and impacts our relationships, career, and how we walk in the world, we often default to the needs and expectations of others.  We could all use a little help with honoring ourselves and our bodies and not disregard our well-being and happiness to please others.  Kelcy Valletta's mission is to help women love who they are, the body they are in, and practice self-love so that they can own their confidence and sexiness in their own skin.   Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Hear Kelcy's journey from the all too familiar struggles of early teenage disordered eating and body image challenges to finding, choosing, and knowing herself.   Be inspired by Kelcy's passion for helping women be their authentic selves and find practices to keep caring for their relationship with self. Kelcy shares her ‘past life' as a film student, film maker, and actor living in LA before she became a certified self-love coach… you'll NEVER guess what her all time favorite movie is!  First Lesson in Self-Love Like too many teenage girls, Kelcy found herself struggling through an eating disorder at 13.  It took years and years to fully heal.  It was during a time when people weren't talking about self-love or mental health, nor did we see different body types like we do today.  Her motivation was eating healthy food, but as a teenager with little education and experience of what food actually does to our body and what our different bodies need, it became a fixation that had the opposite effect.  In her recovery, Kelcy realized the importance of our relationships to our bodies. The True Power of Self-Love Kelcy continued to heal in her relationship with her body but later found herself in an emotionally abusive and toxic relationship.   In the relationship, Kelcy was made to feel like she could not express herself freely. Near the end of the relationship it physically manifested in her jaw locking and she realized the toxicity and abuse of the relationship. A sudden feeling of empowerment and thought that she could no longer let him make her feel unworthy or like she was not enough.   She held onto that thought, began choosing herself, and rebuilt herself. “I will never again compromise any part of who I am because I'm awesome.  I have so much to offer and I need to be strong in that.” Tips for Successful Self-Love Knowing you are worthy of self-love. Easy to say but often hard for women to embody, especially moms.  Giving ourselves time, money, attention, and energy feels selfish. Determine our love language for receiving love and practice it on ourselves.  If we feel loved when given quality time, prioritize alone time and activities.  If we feel loved when given words of affirmations, affirm ourselves.  Learn how to set boundaries and get comfortable saying no.   Common Blocks to Self-Love Believing it's selfish to have and practice self-love.   Comparison to others or the appearance or life circumstances of our younger selves.  Social media makes this difficult as people share their highlight reels and beautify with filters. Lessons and Outcomes of a 21 Day Self-Love Challenge Inspired by the idea that it takes twenty-one days to form a habit, at the beginning of 2021, Kelcy created the 21 Day Self-Love Challenge.  It was eye opening to see and experience that there are an infinite amount of ways to practice self-love.   Love of Podcasting Kelcy hosts the Find Your Sexy Podcast. Though she was terrified to invite women at first, now she gets so excited and loves to have the connections, friendships, and important conversations she gets to have weekly.  She always feels honored that women would share their stories with her. Kelcy shares important topics and education In solo episodes.  But, by far, Kelcy loves her conversations and interviews with women the most.   Daily Non Negotiables Kelcy does not compromise her full 8 hours of sleep. If she does, it negatively affects her whole next day. . Currently, her irregular schedule between her full time job and Find Your Sexy, challenges her in prioritizing working out, but she's working on it. Eating her meals.  Kelcy can be found eating all day long. Spending time with her dog in the sunshine regardless of the weather. The Power of Self Love with Brandy Edwards In Episode #72, I sat down with Brandy Edwards, Empowerment Speaker, Founder of the Self Love Challenge, and self-proclaimed self-love expert. She taught us that self love is a choice and we get to choose to love and accept ourselves. She has early memories of struggling with self-worth, acceptance, and her physical appearance as a young child. She shared with us how the women that we are surrounded with growing up have the impact of passing down insecurities and the lack of self-love is often times a learned behavior. As she began working with women as an empowerment speaker, she realized that she was not only teaching them self-love but also helping them work through pain from adolescence. She shared with us her five steps to self love for teens:5 Steps to Self-Love for Teens:Identify your super power (what makes you unique?)Layer on your confidenceTone down your inner mean girl Build yourself up as an individual Create a positive space for brainstorming She also shared the three steps she personally implements for the Self Love Challenge: Realize self-love is a lifestyle and includes everything we choose to do and not do. Make empowering choices. Take care of yourself mentally: be kind to yourself and retrain your brain to come from a place of love. Take care of yourself physically: move your body, make nourishing choices, accept your body for what it can do right now. Choose to surround yourself with people that make you a better personBrandy challenged our listeners to think about what it is about them that people have said was too much and reminds us to ask our selves what is the one thing that we want to accomplish. She left us with the thought that “It is never too late to start over. You can start over as many times as you want. You have to start somewhere to get anywhere and realize that there are so many ways to get better.” You can find Brandy on Instagram @theselfloveAnd check out her website: www.selflovechallenge.comFor One-On-One coaching, email theselflovechallenge@gmail.comFREE STUFF———->Want to check out the best email platform I have ever tried?
