What does true kingship look like? In this powerful sermon, Pastor Chris Rieber dives into Luke 19, exploring Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem and the profound message it holds for us today. The crowds laid down palm branches, expecting a conquering hero, a king like those they knew in the world. But Jesus' coronation was far from conventional. His kingdom, Pastor Chris explains, is not of this world, but a spiritual and eternal realm that challenges our earthly expectations. Discover how the Kingdom of God operates on a different plane, one that is often "upside down" compared to the kingdoms we see around us. Join us as we unpack the deeper meaning of Jesus' arrival and learn how His unconventional coronation reveals the true nature of His reign. Prepare to be challenged and inspired as Pastor Chris unpacks the profound truth of Jesus' kingdom.

#23 The Allegory Story (Spiritual Kingdom vs Political Kingdom Aramaic Style)
They say, ‘home is where the heart is.' God says, ‘Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.' So imagine a world where we treasure His House! In the Old Testament, people had to leave their own homes to come to the temple to be close to the presence of God. Now, after the work of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, the very Spirit of God is present within each of His disciples. The Holy Spirit of The Living God lives in His people! And so because of what Jesus has done for us, The Church has come into the picture...not as a physical location or an address on a map, but as a gathering of people who are committed to the establishing of God's Spiritual Kingdom here in our communities... here in our neighborhoods...and especially here in our homes. The Houses of The Lord that we meet in on Sunday mornings are no more holy and no more spiritual than your home. But it IS special because these are the places where the church called Venture Church gathers together to worship together, to celebrate together, to share communion together, and experience the spiritual joining of our hearts and souls and minds when we come together in the name of Jesus. The things that we experience together in This House are directly related to and, in many ways, are amplified by the things we experience together in our own homes. And vice versa! God desires our homes to be spiritual and holy places in our neighborhoods that reflect His Love for all people and, since we are many and are spread far and wide, to be reflectors of His Light into the darkness. So when we say we have A Heart For The House, we are saying we treasure the things of our Living God that we experience together in His House. We are saying we treasure the things of our Living God that we experience in our own homes. As men and women, and moms and dads, as sons and daughters, as employees and employers, as followers of Jesus, we are set apart and rooted in The House to shine brightly for the sake of The Kingdom, for the sake of The King – and to point all people to King Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our Faith. As we reflect His own Heart For The House.

In this episode of The Biblical Anarchy Podcast, host Jacob Winograd reflects on a previous episode in which he unintentionally misattributed a quote to Athanasius. He uses this mistake as an opportunity to delve deeper into the writings and theology of Athanasius, focusing on how his views align with Jacob's ongoing discussion of the New Covenant and the Messianic Kingdom. Athanasius, a key defender of Nicene theology, is portrayed as a fiery and passionate theologian, particularly in his works like On the Incarnation. Jacob highlights Athanasius' view that Christ's reign transcends the earthly kingship of Israel, emphasizing that Christ's kingdom is spiritual and eternal, fulfilling prophecies like Isaiah 9.Jacob spends much of the episode connecting Athanasius' theological insights to Old Testament prophecies and the new covenant, drawing comparisons between the reigns of Israel's kings and the superior, everlasting kingship of Christ. He encourages listeners to understand Christ's kingdom not as a physical or political entity but as a divine reign that brings peace and salvation to all nations. Jacob also invites his audience to reflect on how these theological truths shape our understanding of the gospel and Christian life, urging them to live out their faith as part of God's Kingdom. On the Incarnation by Athanasius: https://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/sdg/athanasius/On%20the%20Incarnation%20-%20Athanasius.pdfThe Biblical Anarchy Podcast is part of the Christians For Liberty Network, a project of the Libertarian Christian Institute. In this sermon, Robert Carrillo explores the concept of the spiritual kingdom of God, emphasizing its importance to Jesus and its foundational nature for Christian life. He underscores the necessity of being filled with the Holy Spirit to exhibit love, mercy, and compassion, rather than judgment and condemnation. Robert discusses the role of elders and spiritual leaders in the church, highlighting that their primary qualification should be their spirituality and wisdom. He uses the story of the woman caught in adultery to illustrate the essence of God's kingdom—love, mercy, and forgiveness—and connects this to the broader context of living a godly life in a challenging world. The sermon also includes a call to the congregation to support and recognize new candidates for eldership and deaconship, underscoring their role in maintaining the righteousness, peace, and joy of the church.00:00 Opening Prayer and Reflection01:19 Introduction to the Spiritual Kingdom01:59 Understanding the Kingdom of God03:17 The Role of Rules and Relationships05:56 The Story of the Woman Caught in Adultery10:01 Jesus' Compassion and Mercy17:31 The Pharisees and Misapplied Scriptures18:06 The Prodigal Son and the Older Brother19:43 Jesus' Ministry and Mercy22:12 Living by the Spirit24:08 Living by the Spirit25:03 Challenges of Practicing Love25:32 Teachings of Jesus on Anger and Love27:48 Role of Elders and Spiritual Leadership28:29 Overcoming Fear with Faith29:57 Maintaining Spirituality in the Church30:30 Power of the Holy Spirit32:11 Importance of Compassion and Understanding40:10 Global Perspective and Prayers44:22 Call for Spiritual LeadershipClick here to donate to the programClick here for more sermonsOC Church of Christ

GOSPELS 16 TAKE UP YOUR CROSS In the three Gospels of Matthew and Mark and Luke, (Matthew 16:21 Mark 8:31; Luke 9:21), after Jesus declares that he is the rock upon which he would build his church, he straightaway tells his disciples not to talk to anyone about that fact that he is the Christ, and he then says, ‘I must suffer many things at the hands of the Jewish leaders and be rejected by them and be killed, and after three days I will rise again' (Mark 8:31). Peter immediately takes Jesus aside and scolds him for saying a thing like that. Peter has just previously had a revelation that Jesus is the Christ and was probably feeling a little heady with all the authority that Jesus said was coming his way, along with the promise about being given keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. So Peter decides to weigh in on this plan of Jesus, which was far too negative for his liking. To Peter's surprise Jesus did not seem grateful for Peter's kind-hearted advice. Jesus turned and faced all the disciples and said very sternly to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are not mindful (phrone?? - a focussed conscious awareness) of the things of God but of the things of man' From that moment on Peter began to painfully learn time after time that what he often thought were good ideas were not God ideas. Peter was to learn what it meant to be ‘mindful', consciously aware, of what God was saying through Jesus and not what his opinion was of what he thought God should be saying – a very common error that he shares with a few billion more of us. That is why Jesus made that peculiar remark at the beginning of this reading when he told the disciples not to mention that he was the Christ, because Jesus did not want his disciples and followers giving their random human opinions about him as God, to people, and he also didn't need or want notoriety. His whole aim was for his followers to know him personally as God. It is only then that their words would have life. There was coming the day when Jesus would have risen from the dead and sent the Holy Spirit to the earth and his followers would be living in and speaking from the Kingdom of Heaven that was within them. It is from that inner Kingdom place in us today that we can speak words of life that come from him, and not just our learned opinions about him. Then Jesus called his disciples and the crowds to come over and listen to him and he said, ‘If any man wants to come after me let him deny himself (there's the me self and the together with God self) and take up his cross and follow (akolouthe?? - accompany) Me. For whoever would save his life will lose it. But whoever would lose his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? – These are weighty words. They could have a primary place in what could be called a ‘Christian Manifesto' Jesus was instantiating a new way to live a new kind of life (that word instantiating means not only to model something but to be the first person to ever model it). It means for us that some kind of life within us would have to die so that a greater life within us could live. This had never even been thought of before – people had always just had to try harder to get better at living the one life that they had. Jesus described how he would bring this new process of life out of death into being for humanity by his own death and resurrection, and he said in another place ‘unless a seed falls into the ground and dies it abides alone but if it dies it bears much fruit. (John 12:24). I will now quote that Scripture from the Living Bible ‘I must fall and die like a grain of wheat that falls into the furrows of the earth. Unless I die I will stay alone, as a single seed. But my death will produce many new wheat grains—a plentiful harvest of new lives'. A seed contains the energy within it that can release a new kind of life that looks totally different to the original life form of the seed. The outer shell or husk must experience being hidden within the dark moist and nutritious substrate of good soil that awakens a new form of a hidden inner life to be invigorated. This new life breaks forth upwards out of the soil and into the light and air into its true life form, and its destined growth and purpose and reproduction. Jesus was a unique seed that went into the ground and died. That seed had both human life and divine life from Heaven within it and that seed not only rose again with a new resurrected life power for himself, but he released a harvest of this new resurrected life power for all of humanity to receive through the power of the Holy Spirit that was sent to all mankind at Pentecost. That new life form had never been seen before – God and humanity joined together. That is our new life and that was the work of the cross! If you thought that taking up your cross and denying yourself meant self-discipline and mindfulness you would be correct. That is why Jesus had to rebuke Peter when he gave Jesus his kind-hearted advice about him not having to suffer and take up his cross. He told Peter that he was not being mindful (phrone?? - living in conscious awareness) of the things that God was saying and doing but only of the things that man could say and do. When Jesus tells us to deny our ‘human self-serving self' which wants to have everything its own way, he is telling us that we are choosing to take up our cross by dying to that self-centred bias in us so that we can release the new ‘spiritual self' life of Christ that is now planted within us. That choice requires a conscious awareness of faith that a new life is always springing up out of the death of the old life. This conscious awareness of faith is the Bible's hallmark cause and effect activity that consistently yields the fruit of a true Christian life. So, does that mean that taking up our cross means living a killjoy miserable life – all work and no play, and trying to look more virtuous than everyone else? No – it means being self-disciplined and mindful of the true person that you now are in Christ through the revealed truth from God into your spirit. That means just the opposite to living a killjoy miserable life because it allows our soul to come out of the chaotic disorder of this worlds thinking and into the peace and order and joy and harmony of a Kingdom ordered mind. Our limited human nature with its bias towards self-serving and self-advantage weakens the resolve of our struggling soul to express the full potential of our true spiritual nature. That is what Jesus means when next he says ‘if you save your (demanding old self centred) life you lose it (your new fulfilled Spiritual Kingdom life) and when you lose your life you save it'. And he goes on to say ‘For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Jesus then gets serious with his disciples and all who were listening (including us) and says ‘And anyone who is ashamed of me and my message in these days of unbelief and sin, I, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when I return in the glory of my Father, with the holy angels.' That is God sadly saying to us whom he lovingly cares for ‘If you put me at the back of the line by not being grateful to me for doing all that I am doing for you - then you are actually putting yourself at the back of the line for getting my approval and all that goes with it when I come in my glory to settle things up'. And Jesus concludes with the following very timely thought – ‘Truly I say unto you, that there are some of you standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power'. That statement tells us that there would have been many people there at that time that were still living when Jesus rose from the dead and sent the Holy Spirit. They would have received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and lived in the power of the ‘Kingdom of God' just as we can now today if we believe and do what Jesus has just been saying. Unfortunately, Judas was not one of them. He decided to end his life in deep despair and regret instead of waiting for Jesus his friend who loved him, to die instead of him and to heal his soul and give it new life. And I don't presume to know his soul's end, and we don't know about the souls of any others back then or here and now. But we can be eternally grateful that we know that the words that Jesus said to all those disciples have that same deep significance for us. We can live an astounding Kingdom life that we enter into through the grace of God and our faith in Jesus, and by being mindful, having a mindset of conscious awareness that he is supernaturally working on our behalf at any given moment of time. Capture the now because that's when it is working - sit with it and be grateful and get to the front of the line – that's our God. And even if we feel we're not faithful the Bible says he remains faithful and he will pull us back in - our human capacity to stay faithful is so limited with all of the moods and circumstances and disappointments and ‘what's it all about anyway'. God comes in and says ‘I'm still here I'm drawing you back in, it's now it's the start of the new life every moment just step into it'. Be mindful now of the new life that you have - the cause and effect holds true - life out of death. You might think how much repenting do I have to do to do this cross thing? I believe our repentance is simply out of unbelief into belief – repentance unto life. We don't say if only the past hadn't happened – it did. God is saying I'm giving you the gift of ‘now'. When we say to the Lord I choose to believe that you are my new ‘together with you' life, that faith sweeps away the old self-centred life. It does it for you – it overpowers the old life - it's called grace. So we don't beat ourself up in guilt, and don't hide ourself in shame. We declare ourselves a child of God – redeemed. That faith lifts us above everything in the past. It is the exchange of one life for the other. The new life just drowns the old one. If we lose our life - we save it. Jesus knew how to use shorthand. He didn't use a lot of words but the words he said were packed with meaning. We don't go around regretting our old life, we swap it – the exchanged life and our soul rejoices, it is saved and healed - it's the start of the new life every moment. Let us just step into it in Jesus's name. Amen.
We are in a series of messages talking about what Jesus talked about most, and what Jesus talked about most was the kingdom of God. The kingdom is everything in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John). It's prolific, redundant, explicit, everywhere, every thing the epicenter of the story. More than anything else, this is Jesus' primary topic of conversation. It's his favorite thing to bring up and to talk about. And, one of the things that you'll find is that a significant part of this kingdom was pretty... weird. Saved from God's wrath Being saved from God's wrath means we will never experience eternal separation from Him in the lake of fire. John wrote, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36). And Paul said, “having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him” (Rom 5:9). Also, When writing to the Christians at Thessalonica, Paul assured them they would be saved “from the wrath to come” (1 Th 1:10). This last verse could refer to the eternal wrath all unbelievers will experience because they have rejected Christ as their Savior, which is the lake of fire (Rev 20:15). However, it could also refer to the wrath of the Tribulation (Rev 6-18), whereby God will judge the world after the rapture of the church (1 Cor 15:51-53; 1 Th 4:13-18). Christians living in the dispensation of the church age will be spared from both forms of God's wrath, so there is no need to be concerned with this. Saved from Satan's domain of darkness As Christians, we are also saved from “from the dominion of Satan to God” (Act 26:18), and transferred from Satan's “domain of darkness” (Col 1:13a) into “the kingdom of His beloved Son” (Col 1:13b). This transference happens at the moment of faith in Christ and is a spiritual reality that is true for all Christians. The kingdom of Christ mentioned here does not refer to the future eschatological kingdom that will come, in which Jesus, a biological descendant of David, is prophesied to rule over the world in righteousness.[1] Rather, it refers to the current spiritual kingdom where God rules in the hearts of His people. Concerning this passage, Ryrie states, “It refers to the kingdom into which all believers have been placed (Col 1:13), and it is entered by the new birth. The Ruler is Christ; in this concept of the kingdom He rules over believers only; and the relationship exists now.”[2] And Fruchtenbaum adds, “The Spiritual Kingdom is composed of all believers, and only believers, of all time. The means of entering this Kingdom is by regeneration by the Holy Spirit. In the present age, from Acts two until the Rapture, the Spiritual Kingdom and the Church are synonymous, but only during the period between Acts two and the Rapture.”[3] Saved from the coming tribulation Jesus, when speaking to the church at Philadelphia, said, “Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Rev 3:10). The hour of testing here refers to the time of the future Tribulation that follows the rapture of the church. Robert Thomas affirms this, saying, the hour of trial refers to “the future period of trouble just before Christ's personal return to earth.”[4] Charles Ryrie adds, “The promise of Revelation 3:10 not only guarantees being kept from the trials of the Tribulation period but being kept from the time period of the Tribulation. The promise is not, “I will keep you from the trials.” It is, “I will also keep you from the hour of trial” (NIV).”[5] Fruchtenbaum states: "In this passage, the Church is promised to be kept from the period of trial that is about to fall upon the whole earth. In the context of the Book of Revelation, it is the Tribulation found in chapters 6–19 that is this period of trial that is to fall upon the whole earth. It is from this period of trial that the Church is to be kept. This verse does not say that the Church will be merely kept safe during the trial, but it will be kept from the very hour of the trial, that is, from the very time of it."[6] Saved from hell Scripture reveals we are saved from hell. Jesus talked about hell (Matt 5:22, 29-30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15, 33), saying, “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt 10:28). The word hell translates the Greek word Gehenna (12x in the NT), which means “a place of fire.”[7] Biblically, it is a place of eternal torment. Moisés Sylva notes, “Gehenna is elsewhere referred to by such phrases as ‘the blazing furnace' (Matt 13:42, 50), ‘the eternal fire' (Matt 25:41), and ‘the fiery lake' (Rev 19:20 et al.). Gehenna is distinguished from Hades, which evidently houses the souls of the dead before the last judgment; indeed, Hades along with death will be thrown into the lake of fire (Rev 20:14).”[8] Hell is that final place of suffering where all unbelievers go. Speaking to unbelievers at the end of the Tribulation, Jesus said, “Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matt 25:41), and of them He said, “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matt 25:46). John tells us, “if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:15). Concerning hell, J. I. Packer wrote: It is thought of as a place of fire and darkness (Jude 7, 13), of weeping and grinding of teeth (Matt 8:12; 13:42, 50; 22:13; 24:51; 25:30), of destruction (2 Th 1:7–9; 2 Pet 3:7; 1 Th 5:3), and of torment (Rev 20:10; Luke 16:23)—in other words, of total distress and misery. If, as it seems, these terms are symbolic rather than literal (fire and darkness would be mutually exclusive in literal terms), we may be sure that the reality, which is beyond our imagining, exceeds the symbol in dreadfulness. New Testament teaching about hell is meant to appall us and strike us dumb with horror, assuring us that, as heaven will be better than we could dream, so hell will be worse than we can conceive. Such are the issues of eternity, which need now to be realistically faced.[9] What about those who never hear the gospel? Someone might say, “What about those who never hear the gospel message about Jesus? Are they condemned to hell?” The Bible reveals that God is “the Judge of all the earth” (Gen 18:25; Psa 58:11), that He “is a righteous judge” (Psa 7:11), and is “righteous in all His ways” (Psa 145:17a). This means God is absolutely fair to everyone, and no one will go to hell who did not choose it. God has revealed Himself to everyone. In a general sense, He has made Himself known through His creation. Knowledge of God's existence is clearly revealed through His creation.[10] David wrote, “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge” (Psa 19:1-2). God is declared and revealed through His creation, much like a painter is revealed through a masterpiece painting. The apostle Paul wrote of God's wrath which is revealed toward those who reject Him after they come to the know about Him through His creation. Paul wrote, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them” (Rom 1:18-19). There's nothing wrong with God's revelation of Himself through his creation. The problem lies in people “who suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Rom 1:18b). Furthermore, God has made Himself known “within them”, which means that each person with normal mental capacity intuitively knows that God exists. In theology, we call this the sensus divinitatis, or sense of the divine. Paul continues his line of reasoning, saying, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse” (Rom 1:20). Those who reject God after becoming aware of Him, are held morally responsible and are “without excuse” for their choices before a holy and righteous God who will hold them accountable. Robert Mounce states: Seeing the beauty and complexity of creation carries with it the responsibility of acknowledging the Creator both as powerful and as living above the natural order. Disbelief requires an act of rebellion against common sense. It displays fallen humanity's fatal bias against God. Although the created order cannot force a person to believe, it does leave the recipient responsible for not believing.[11] Of those who are negative to God, three times it is written that He “gave them over” to “the lusts of their hearts” (Rom 1:24), and “to degrading passions” (Rom 1:26), and “to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper” (Rom 1:28). Once God permits a person to operate by his sinful passions, that person is given a measure of freedom to live as he wants, but not without consequence, both in time and eternity. If someone is positive and wants to know God personally, then He will make certain that person receives gospel revelation in order to be saved. If the person goes negative and does not want to know Him, then God—who is no bully—will let that person go his own way, but will hold him accountable for his decision. For those who are negative to God and reject Him after coming to know about Him through His creation, that rejection is sufficient to condemn that soul forever. The only heaven they will ever know—if we can call it heaven—is the life they'll enjoy in this world during their fleeting time on earth. But after they die, all unbelievers will suffer for eternity in hell, forever separated from God, with no hope of their situation changing. Robert W. Yarbrough states: Jesus spoke repeatedly of ‘the fire of hell' (Matt 5:22) and ‘eternal fire' (Matt 18:8). He urged his followers, ‘Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell' (Luke 12:5). The double-edged nature of Jesus' ministry is well summarized in John 3:36: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.” Those who reject God's righteousness become targets of his wrath (Rom 1:18, 24, 26, 28; Eph 5:6; Col 3:6; Heb 10:26–31; Rev 19:11–21).[12] Those who spend eternity in hell are there by choice and not by chance. According to J. I. Packer, “Scripture sees hell as self-chosen; those in hell will realize that they sentenced themselves to it by loving darkness rather than light, choosing not to have their Creator as their Lord, preferring self-indulgent sin to self-denying righteousness, and (if they encountered the gospel) rejecting Jesus rather than coming to Him (John 3:18–21; Rom 1:18, 24, 26, 28, 32; 2:8; 2 Th 2:9–11).”[13] Those who stand before the great white throne for judgement (Rev 20:11) will know the One who is sitting on that throne, and they will know they are there to be judged for their sins. Not a single person will ask, “Who are you?” For they will all know Who He is, and that they are there to face judgment for eternity. All this is avoidable if one will only acknowledge God and respond positively to the gospel of grace and believe in Christ as Savior. One needs only to believe in Christ as Savior to avoid eternity in hell. God has made a way for all to be saved, so if any are not, it's by their choice and not because there was no divine provision available. When one turns to Christ as Savior, he has forgiveness of sins (Eph 1:7) and eternal life (John 3:16; 10:28). These have their names written “in the Lamb's book of life” (Rev 21:27). But the opposite is true, for “if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:15). Dr. Steven R. Cook [1] The Lord focused specifically on David, promising that one of his descendants would rule forever (2 Sam 7:16; Psa 89:3-4, 34-37; Jer 23:5-6; 33:14-15). This descendant would be a righteous king (Isa 9:6-7; 11:1-9; Jer 23:5-6; 33:14-18), and his kingdom will last forever (Dan 2:44; 7:13-14; 1 Cor. 15:24). Jesus is identified as that king (Luke 1:30-33). When Jesus came, He repeatedly offered the earthly kingdom to Israel (Matt 3:1-2; 4:17; 10:5-7), a literal kingdom that was future (Matt 6:10; Luke 19:11; Acts 1:3-6). But they rejected Him and His offer (Matt 11:20; 12:14; Mark 15:12-15; John 19:15); therefore, the earthly kingdom was postponed for a future time (Matt 21:43; cf. Matt 19:28; 25:31; Luke 22:28-30; Acts 1:3-6; Rev 20:4-6). Kim continues expounding the Spiritual worldview of the New Covenant. Abraham was looking for a city whose Builder was God, not a city—or kingdom—made by men. Jesus said it was good that He was going away so that He could send the Spirit to bring all things to their mind. Understanding of the Bible's internal hermeneutic, including the eschatological message, comes through the Spirit. Like Abraham, we also should not be looking or waiting for a physical kingdom.
The Kingdom of God comes not with outward show
The kingdom of God comes not with outward show. The gospel of the grace of God, with its spirit of self-abnegation, can never be in harmony with the spirit of the world.

Click Here to Print Reading 20. IV. HEAVEN IS DIVIDED INTO TWO KINGDOMS. As there are infinite varieties in heaven, and no one society nor any one angel is exactly like any other,[1] there are in heaven general, specific, and particular divisions. The general division is into two kingdoms, the specific into three heavens, and the particular into innumerable societies. Each of these will be treated of in what follows. The general division is said to be into kingdoms, because heaven is called "the kingdom of God." [1] There is infinite variety, and nowhere any thing the same as another (see numbers 7236, 9002). Also in the heavens there is infinite variety (see numbers 684, 690, 3744, 5598, 7236). Varieties in heaven are varieties of good (see numbers 3744, 4005, 7236, 7833, 7836, 9002). All societies in the heavens, and all angels in a society, are thereby distinguished from each other (see numbers 690, 3241, 3519, 3804, 3986, 4067, 4149, 4263, 7236, 7833, 7836). Nevertheless they are all made one by love from the Lord (see numbers 457, 3986). [read more] 21. There are angels that receive more interiorly the Divine that goes forth from the Lord, and others that receive it less interiorly; the former are called celestial angels, and the latter spiritual angels. Because of this difference heaven is divided into two kingdoms, one called the Celestial Kingdom, the other the Spiritual Kingdom.[1] [1] Heaven as a whole is divided into two kingdoms, a celestial kingdom and a spiritual kingdom (see numbers 3887, 4138). The angels of the celestial kingdom receive the Divine of the lord in their voluntary part, thus more interiorly than the spiritual angels, who receive it in their intellectual part (see numbers 5113, 6367, 8521, 9936, 9995. 10124). 22. As the angels that constitute the celestial kingdom receive the Divine of the Lord more interiorly they are called interior and also higher angels; and for the same reason the heavens that they constitute are called interior and higher heavens.[1] They are called higher and lower, because these terms designate what is interior and what is exterior.[2] [1] The heavens that constitute the celestial kingdom are called higher while those that constitute the spiritual kingdom are called lower (see number 10068). [2] Interior things are portrayed by higher things, and higher things signify interior things (see numbers 2148, 3084, 4599, 5146, 8325). 23. The love in which those are, who are in the celestial kingdom is called celestial love, and the love in which those are who are in the spiritual kingdom is called spiritual love. Celestial love is love to the Lord, and spiritual love is love towards the neighbor. And as all good pertains to love (for good to any one is what he loves) the good also of the other kingdom is called celestial, and the good of the other spiritual. Evidently, then, the two kingdoms are distinguished from each other in the same way as good of love to the Lord is distinguished from good of love towards the neighbor.[1] And as the good of love to the Lord is an interior good, and that love is interior love, so the celestial angels are interior angels, and are called higher angels. [1] The good of the celestial kingdom is good of love to the Lord, and the good of the spiritual kingdom is good of charity towards the neighbor (see numbers 3691, 6435, 9468, 9680, 9683, 9780). 24. The celestial kingdom is called also the Lord's priestly kingdom, and in the Word "His dwelling-place;" while the spiritual kingdom is called His royal kingdom, and in the Word "His throne." And from the celestial Divine the Lord in the world was called "Jesus," while from the spiritual Divine He was called "Christ." 25. The angels in the Lord's celestial kingdom, from their more interior reception of the Divine of the Lord, far excel in wisdom and glory the angels that are in His spiritual kingdom; for they are in love to the Lord,

Today's episode is all about having a deeper understanding of the Word of God. Most Christians, nowadays, keep talking about the Kingdom but do not even know what Kingdom really means. So in this episode, I tackle the different meanings of Kingdom and how you can correctly use them or for another reason, just altogether quit using the word “kingdom” without understanding what it really means. Explaining this is very essential to me because I don't want to conjure up the wrong idea in most people's heads. This will also serve as a warning that we should all be careful of cliches, as cliches are wrecking the church. Be informed, serve God through serving His gospel correctly. So far, we've learnt this much about the Kingdom of God in previous sermons - it is a Spiritual Kingdom. But now we also learn that it is an Irrepressible Kingdom. That is it is Unstoppable and Unfailing- How- By listening to how the Lord compares it to a Mustard Tree---1- The Kingdom's Girth--2- The Kingdom's Growth--3- The Kingdom's Greatness--4- The Kingdom's Glory
A new MP3 sermon from Maidenbower Baptist Church is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Christ's spiritual kingdom Speaker: Jeremy Walker Broadcaster: Maidenbower Baptist Church Event: Sunday - AM Date: 11/8/2020 Bible: John 18:36 Length: 46 min.
When challenged by Pontius Pilate about his kingship, the Lord Jesus testified, -My kingdom is not of this world.- It help us first to understand when he spoke, then what he said -its point and proof-, then what he meant by it. That enables us to identify what we must learn- that Christ's kingdom is not of worldly origin, nor established on worldly principles, nor does it advance by worldly force, nor is it governed by worldly policy, nor is it subject to worldly rule, nor is it entered by worldly means, nor is it subject to worldly decay.

Attitudes are by choice, not by chance. As citizens of the Spiritual Kingdom, we are called to have the attitude of Christ. When we take on the attitude of humility, obedience, endurance, and praise, we set ourselves apart from the world and truly model Kingdom Culture.
The lesson today is "Complete Consciousness of the Spiritual Kingdom," from Charles Fillmore's Sunday lesson on June 14, 1931. He uses the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus as told by the writer of the Gospel of Luke in chapter 24. Enjoy. Call in if you like at 816-251-3555.
Proverbs In 365 Devotions For more go to braggingonjesus.com Proverbs 14:11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish. 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. At first glance it may seem a bit discouraging that Solomon says the wicked get to live in a house while the upright only live in a tent. Well, that doesn’t seem fair… but hey… the thing is… the possessions of the upright consist of a little bit more than a tent. See, those who have been given the righteousness of Christ and so are upright… they don’t really live here… Maybe we could put a bumper sticker on our tent that says “my other house is a mansion” because we’re just passing through and will soon come to the place that Jesus went to prepare for us. Its the Spiritual Kingdom of God…Thats our homeland now. If you know Christ there is a sense in which you were actually born in that kingdom… It is your birthplace and homeland. Look, there is a full inheritance waiting for us there and most importantly we will be with the Lord. So we are not called to get comfortable here as though we have arrived in the land our hearts have longed for. We are not to seek peace or solitude in what this place has to offer. Dont settle down and grab up everything as though this is to be desired above all… Sometimes we use the phrase “to die for” as something extremely desirable… But thats exactly what happens for those who make this world their home… Solomon says: “The house of the wicked will be destroyed” Verse 12 goes right along with it: 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. What seems right is different from what is actually right and is relative to each persons own rationalization to have whatever they desire… The end of that wickedness ends in death… And its a horrible death not only separated from their body but from the Spirit of God and everything good. But the second part of verse 11 is encouraging for believers. “the tent of the upright will flourish” That goes along with the rest of the Bible for sure; and its not the kind of flourishing that goes with making this world our home or success by their standards… We flourish on the mission which we are here for… as we are passing through… living in tents… not making this our home. We’ve talked about 2nd Corinthians 8 and 9 before which is very clear how even those believers who are poor and oppressed will flourish in every good work and overflow with joy. 2 Corinthians 9:11 says: You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. Old mission: This world is our home… We seek and proclaim our own glory and get bitterness and death. New mission: We seek to see and share more of Gods glory and get loads of joy. Thats how it works… God created us that way. Do you want to flourish while living in a tent or do you want to make this world your home and never find satisfaction or joy? I really love Psalm chapter 1… it tells the same truth as todays verses. I’d like to read it as an outro and in so doing let God have the last word in todays devotion. Psalm 1 1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Pastor Sharon Hayes taught this morning before she led us before the Lord in corporate prayer. The Word of, God’s as taught by Jesus Christ to His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew 20:20-28 kjv. From the lesson we learn from Jesus Christ’s parable that God is calling us to join with Jesus Christ as a co-laborer in His Vineyard. And to be successful requires a Servants mindset. Because based on Jesus Christ’s perspective of leadership. Leaders are first and for most Servants. Once we answer His call to Minister it is actually a call to service. His call to service is not without great reward. However, there will also be times of a temptation and tendency to murmur and complain. It is important to remember that suffering is predicted in service. The challenge and conflict comes as result of human ambitions. As we see in the text and teaching that the Mother prayed and requested of Jesus Christ to know if her sons were going to sit next to Him in a night place and would they be great as a result of serving? Needless to say, Jesus Christ did not answer her prayer. Primarily, because it was a selfish prayer, laced with human ambitions and nothing to with the Spiritual Kingdom of God. Which is what Jesus Christ was teaching them about! Jesus Christ was teaching that there would totally new conditions in the new for them Spiritual Kingdom that He was now teaching them about. Jesus Christ when on a healed to blind men to demonstrate to them what His Father’s Kingdom would consist of, such as, mercy, compassion, grace, opportunity, healing, faith honored, Divine Intervention and Touch for the least of them not so for the greatest of them who are full of Human Ambitions which fails to represent His Father’s Spiritual Kingdom. Which declares that the least of them would be the greatest of them and greatest of them will the least of them. So it unto us according to Your Word Lord in the Book of Matthew 20:20-28 kjv. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pastor-lester-hayes/message
Expecting A supernatural grace to build the body of Christ
In this sermon from John 17:33-36, we see that Christ’s kingdom is not of this world. It is spiritual in essence, ruled by a spiritual king, and defended using spiritual warfare, and that gives us great hope.

Proverbs in 365 Devotions For more go to braggingonjesus.com Proverbs 12:2 A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he condemns. Approved R Aylor If this were the only verse we had ever read from God's word one might get the idea that righteousness is obtained by being good. However, this verse rings true in two very specific but related ways. It is 100% true that our righteousness is related to Gods favor; but only if the righteousness of Jesus has been first imputed to us, exchanging our guilt with his innocence. We’ve talked about this before… it’s the Gospel and it should be a part of our everyday life… not just as Salvation… It’s threads make everything work in our life as we walk in the invisible Spiritual Kingdom of God… as it intersects with our physical lives since Jesus came down to this earth as a man and abides in us through the Spirit. Our text says a good man obtains favor from the Lord… Jesus was a man… and only Jesus was a good man. We’ve also talked about how Jesus had favor with God. A voice from heaven confirmed that the Father was pleased with his Son Jesus at his Baptism and again at the Transfiguration as well as other places we mentioned. For more check out the devotion “With Whom He Is Pleased” https://www.braggingonjesus.com/with-whom-he-is-pleased You see, we as believers become a good man, woman or child… and we obtain favor from the Lord because Jesus went to the cross and suffered for our sin. 2nd Corinthians 5:21 says: For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Secondly, after we have experienced Gods righteousness positionally, he motivates us to grow in his goodness practically. As he does this awesome work in us it quickens us in good works and we obtain his favor while he gets all the glory. In a similar way the person who is from a positional standpoint wicked practically does evil things with his life. Oh, they may not be always bad for everyone… for example he may donate money to orphans… But he likely wants to get the glory for what he does… You see somewhere down deep in his soul his heart is tainted with sin and it infects everything he does practically. But he cannot attain goodness or righteousness or Jesus or grace or mercy on his own… We all come to Christ the same way. Ephesians 2:8 by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Perhaps giving a unique Christmas sermon perspective, Bro. Harry Collins, Jr. delivered “The Beginning of the Gospel on Sunday morning of Camp Meeting 1992. Reading in part from Mark 1, Luke 24, and Acts 1, he explains that Jesus was born that we could be baptized with the Holy Ghost in our hearts and lives. The Spiritual Kingdom of God is within the heart of a sanctified man or woman when the old man is crucified and Jesus is resurrected in our heart. Bro. David Cosby

It has been said of this Psalm that it was to be used as a song. But for what occasion, there is not complete agreement between Commentators. Some would say it was to be sung when the Ark of the Covenant came in or out of the Temple. Some would say it was sung at the dedication of the Temple, another thought of it as a song of triumph – of those returning victorious from war. It surely speaks of the spiritual Kingdom of God. Not just a physical kingdom, like an earthly king would possess but the domain that God commands. This Psalm contains a blessed prophecy respecting Christ and the glory of His Kingdom.
Living in God’s Spiritual Kingdom frees us to pursue God’s holiness in our lives and in the lives of others.
Romans 14:17 “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” King James Version (KJV)
The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom so we must ask the Holy Spirit to keep our eyes open so we can see, enter, and rule in Jesus’ kingdom with Him!
Our true reality is a Spiritual Kingdom, and in this Kingdom, we are all One and nothing is missing. But when the ego made the world, the mind fell asleep and forgot this Oneness. In its place, a world of separation was projected in which the idea of loss seems to make sense. Now must the Holy Spirit convince us that loss is impossible, and that as we awaken, everyone gains. Open your heart to the Spirit, and you will be shown that no one can lose and everyone must gain by your decision to awaken. This recording of David Hoffmeister (with Spanish translation) took place the afternoon of January 19, 2017 at a full-day workshop in Monterrey, Mexico.

An exploration of Jesus from three perspectives. What are your expectations of Jesus? Who is Jesus to you?
From TBN to Oprah, there is much talk about the spiritual life. From the bizarre to the just plain nutty, so many appeal to the spirit, its work and power. Listen to what God's Word says about spirituality and Paul in particular from the book of Galatians.
