This week's interview features Vincent Hodder, Co-founder and CEO of Local Logic. Local Logic is a location intelligence platform that focuses on digitizing the built world and providing predictive analytics for addresses in the US and Canada. They have a massive data set of 100 billion unique data points, which allows them to understand and quantify cities at a hyperlocal level. You'll hear us discuss the need for data-driven insights to help consumers, agents, and investors (all in their own, unique ways) make better decisions in real estate. Local Logic provides innovative data solutions for the real estate industry, helping consumers and agents make informed decisions based on location-specific insights. Real estate is a hyper-local game. Dig in on how better access to data and enhanced tools can make a difference for consumers, agents, and investors. More about Vincent-Charles and Local LogicLocal Logic is a location intelligence platform that digitizes the built world for consumers, investors, developers, and governments – delivering unrivaled clarity and actionable insights capable of creating more sustainable, equitable cities. With more than 100 billion unique data points – the largest unique location data set in the U.S. and Canada – the platform creates a digital twin of cities, quantifying the built world and offering predictive, precise analytics to inform the present and future of over 250 million individual addresses.Vincent-Charles started his journey as a young boy, aspiring to be a real estate developer. While in school, he recognized a significant issue in the industry, particularly in urban planning. The lack of actionable data on how the built environment impacts the supply and demand of real estate led to investments being based solely on a “gut check.” Seeing the ramifications this had on community developments, he seized this opportunity and co-founded Local Logic with his fellow classmate, Gabriel Damant Sirois. Local Logic is now empowering customers to achieve their real estate goals by providing them with high-quality, unique, and actionable insights to understand how the built world impacts the risk and return of their real estate decisions of all scales and at all levels of sophistication.Follow Vincent-Charles on TwitterConnect with Vincent Charles on LinkedInFollow Local Logic on TwitterCheck out Local Logic

There's an energy in the air with regards to Arweave and now AO Computer, and Jonathan Policke, COO of Permanent Data Solutions, is right in the middle of it in the best ways. Permanent Data Solutions is the parent company behind projects like ar.io, which provides a decentralized gateway service to access data on Arweave. In addition to this, they run arweave.net, a massive gateway which handles huge amounts of traffic and load. In addition to gateways as mentioned above, PDS Inc. is behind ArDrive, which continues to be a staple in the onboarding process into the Arweave ecosystem. ArDrive provides a Dropbox-like interface to Arweave. PDS doesn't stop there; with file organization protocols, and now a massive bundler, there's so much to talk about, and Jonathan was kind enough to give us the opportunity to explore these topics in-depth. Are we in the age of bespoke models? How long will that last? In this conversation, Bill sits down with Jaxon Repp, Field CTO at HarperDB, a globally-distributed edge application platform. They discuss solutions to managing distributed data, customized AI models and bringing the east of cloud to the edge. ---------Key Quotes:“I think that we are in the age of bespoke models now. But I think like all things, unless you're flying a remote drone armed with missiles, you probably will be able to make do with a model that just handles the basics.”“There's a lot of upside to still having the horsepower to do the cool things and not necessarily pushing out all the way to the edge.”“If I can train on a set of averages, some sort of compressed nature, I can dramatically reduce the amount of data that I have. If I can train on summaries as well as I can train on the raw data, then I'm not going to hold on to that raw data for anything other than, you know, super emergency cases.”--------Timestamps: (01:17) How Jaxon got started in tech and to HarperDB(07:25) Determining product market fit (13:18) How do we bring the ease of cloud to the edge? Dallas has long had a reputation for technology. You could go back to the EDS and Ross Perot days when we first came on the map as a technology center, not just an oil and gas center. We continue to make strides in that area because there's great talent here. Two people who know that very well are Kris Fitzgerald and Shashi Yadiki with Smart Data Solutions.

Michael O'Hara grew up in rural Ireland, working in his family's pub. This gave him experience interacting with customers and taught him to treat people with respect. He qualified as an accountant and worked in finance before joining an IT company called Data Solutions. He and his business partner grew Data Solutions over 25+ years, expanding recently into the UK market. In 2020 during lockdown, Michael started thinking more about sustainability and climate change. He co-founded a non-profit called Techies Go Green to help businesses adopt more sustainable practices. On a personal level, Michael is most proud of his three grown children. He enjoys spending time with them now as adults. Looking ahead, Michael is excited about Techies Go Green's sustainability charter to provide businesses a roadmap to reach net zero emissions. For young people starting careers, his advice is to work hard, become an expert in your field, and treat everyone with respect. Michael climbed Mount Kilimanjaro about 12 years ago, which was an amazing experience but also showed him firsthand how the glaciers are melting due to climate change. This was an early motivator for his sustainability work. He emphasizes the importance of measuring your carbon footprint so you can understand where emissions are coming from and create a reduction plan. Some helpful sustainability actions for businesses include allowing remote work to reduce commuting, cutting back on business travel in favor of video calls, switching to renewable energy, and electrifying vehicles/machinery. Michael enjoys regular exercise like going to the gym as well as evening walks to unwind. He believes routine is important when managing a busy workload. If he could make any subject mandatory in schools, it would be sustainability education to change mindsets and culture around consumption, business practices, etc. When asked how he'd like to be remembered, Michael said as a good family man who raised a happy family, a successful business leader who took care of employees and stakeholders, and someone who contributed to sustainability.
