Tenemos una hija de un año. Ese fue el motivo de nuestra unión. Los dos queríamos tener un hijo. »Luego nos casamos, y ella empezó a cambiar. Ahora ya no es tan complaciente, y pone problemas por mi manera de ser. »Yo sólo pienso en mi hija. Por eso no termino la relación. Me da miedo por el bienestar de ella. Ya no tolero a mi esposa. Ella se pone cada día más insoportable, y yo menos tolerante.» Este es el consejo que le dio mi esposa: «Estimado amigo: »Sentimos mucho que esté sufriendo estos problemas matrimoniales. Queremos que sepa que su situación nos interesa a nosotros; pero, aún más importante, ¡que le interesa a Dios! »Nos entristece decirle que muchas personas nos han contado que se encuentran en esa misma situación. Si lee los Casos 104 y 542 en www.conciencia.net, encontrará el consejo que les dimos a dos hombres que se identificarían plenamente con usted. Es que los casos de ellos se parecen mucho al suyo. »Por otra parte, nos alegra que haga hincapié en el amor que tiene por su hija. Muchos padres hacen declaraciones tales como: “Yo daría mi vida por mi hija”, o: “Yo le haría frente a una bala para salvar a mi hijo”. Es tan grande el amor de esos padres que estarían dispuestos a morir por sus hijos. Pero eso nos lleva a preguntarnos: ¿Es acaso el morir por su hija diferente que vivir por ella? »El morir suena como una decisión que se toma una vez y para siempre. Usted bien pudiera decidir que está dispuesto a morir en el lugar de su hija, y luego cumplir esa determinación.... Pero... el vivir por su hija es, paradójicamente, mucho más difícil que el morir por ella. Usted tiene que tomar esa decisión una y otra vez, día tras día y a veces hora tras hora. Usted decide que la salud y la felicidad y la seguridad y el futuro de su hija valen todo lo que le toque a usted sufrir. En vez de decir que ya no puede tolerar a su esposa, usted dice: “Aunque sea muy difícil, aprenderé a valorar las buenas cualidades de mi esposa y edificaré con ella un hogar feliz para el bien de nuestra hija. Cederé el derecho de determinar que todo sea como yo quiero que sea porque esa es la manera de tener paz en nuestro hogar. Concentraré mis esfuerzos en hacer lo que le conviene a mi hija y no en lo que me conviene a mí.” »¿Estamos pidiéndole que haga lo imposible? No. Todo depende de cuánto ama a su hija. Sin embargo, le será mucho más fácil si acude a Dios y le pide que lo ayude. Él es todopoderoso y puede darle la facultad y la fortaleza para tomar la decisión acertada cada día.
