Elizabeth Endres is the founder of Sweats and the City and Orro App, and the host of The Wellness Process podcast. She joins the show to talk about the delicate balance between being your own health advocate and becoming health obsessed, having health anxiety, why there is always an emotional root to physical symptoms, how journal speak changed her life, and wellness practices she cannot get behind. We also talk about our shared, weird diagnosis of Toxo (parasites) and why she believes in annual cleanses that are normal in other cultures. This episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. This episode features Giuseppe Esposito, a Neapolitan musician who runs the tape label Archivio Diafònico, an operation that mostly documents artists who are based in Napoli. The chaotic and bustling capital of the South of Italy undeservedly gets a bad reputation, and the city has a vibrant cultural scene and rich history that is sorely underappreciated. Through a chronicle of his own musical formation and the birth of the label, Esposito constructs a map of the Neapolitan underground scene, with particular attention to noise and improvisation. We also discuss Abidjan Centrale / Partono i Bastimenti, a podcast Esposito produces with Carole Oulato exploring the diverse musical traditions of Africa. Susana Sánches Aríns presenta na Estrada, "SuperUlex" a primeira SuperHeroína galega. 02/12/2021 20:30 ️MOME, A Estrada. ♀️COÑECE MELLOR A SUPERULEX: http://www.radioestrada.com/images/Audios/09-10-2020-Entrevista-SUSANA-SANCHES-ARINS-SUPERULEX.mp3 MERCAR O LIBRO: https://cuartodeinverno.com/libros/5/superulex Máis Información “SUPERULEX”: ✔️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/super_ulex/?hl=af Máis Información “SUSANA ARÍNS”: ✔️ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/susana.arins ✔️ Twitter: https://twitter.com/lg_casulos ✔️ Linkedin: https://es.linkedin.com/in/susana-arins-39378847 Máis Información “CUARTO DE INVERNO”: ✔️ Páxina Web: https://cuartodeinverno.com/ ✔️ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Cuarto-de-Inverno-109193500538153/ ✔️ Twitter: https://twitter.com/CuartoInverno ✔️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cuartodeinverno/ ✔️ Correo: info@cuartodeinverno.com ️ "SUSCRÍBETE" ao podcast MÁIS ENTREVISTAS: https://www.ivoox.com/podcast-salta-da-cama_sq_f1323089_1.html Máis Información e outros contidos: ✔️Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PabloChichas ✔️Twitter: https://twitter.com/pablochichas ✔️Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pablochichas/ ✔️Clubhouse: @pablochichas ✔️Twich: https://www.twitch.tv/pablochichas

Give Her a Second Chance Letter about Tommie Girl On Mar 5 we got a call from the Florida Wildlife Commission asking if we could help a blind bobcat that had been reported by the Manager of the Cemex Mine. His name is Tommie and he loves the wildlife that calls his land a sanctuary. He knew there was something desperately wrong with this little kitten from the first day he saw her, which was about two weeks before. We made arrangements to drive up to the mine on Mar 6 to set a humane trap because the kitten had not been seen since Feb 27. Jamie and I drove up with a trap, nets, carrier, and bait for four days and Tommie Deaner agreed to check and set the trap daily. On the way to Center Hill Tommie texted that the bobcat was in sight and that he had caught some fish for her and was feeding her. Jamie texted back to stop because traffic had us running a half hour late. Since there was no way to get a fish away from a starving bobcat, Tommie improvised and got a box out of the trash to trap her in. When Jamie and I drove up we were waved to the scene by Cemex staff. When we saw the box we were thrilled at the prospect of NOT having to chase a bobcat all over place. The problem was that the box didn't have a bottom. We slid a piece of plywood under the box, like you would pick up a spider with a cup and cardboard (per Jamie) and then put the whole thing in the van. The plan was to shift her from the box to the carrier inside the van, so that if the bobcat escaped, she was at least trapped in the van… with us. Well, that part wasn't very appealing, but it was better than the risk of losing her and having her starve to death. If you have never seen Jamie net a cat; you haven't seen art in motion. Quicker than a blink she had her in the net and backed up to the carrier door. Since she really couldn't see well enough to put up much of a fight, we got her in the carrier pretty neatly. She growled for a while, but the belly full of fish and the swaying motion of the van for an hour and a half put her right to sleep. She has tested negative for all of the major cat killers, except her Toxo test, which is still pending. She is suffering from starvation, blindness and parasites and is being treated with the hopes that she will regain her sight as she improves. She has seen an eye specialist and she thinks there is hope for restoring her site. Another Blind Bobcat Kitten Rescue: The baby bobcat came in to the SC Wildlife Rehabber, JoAnne on Dec 4 weighing 4.2 lbs, with a broken jaw, split canine and comatose. They figured he had been hit by a car, but couldn't believe that he survived. After he woke up from the coma he was pretty loopy, but they figured the impact had done brain damage. They had to wire the jaw shut, tube feed him and removed the broken canine. He is still only 5.7 lbs, but is eating solids on his own and doing much better despite walking into walls and getting stuck in corners. If he comes to a corner, he just sits down and waits, and waits, and waits, as if he cannot figure out that he is not trapped. He was having bad and frequent seizures, but those have almost subsided. He will be living in the on site Cat Hospital until he is bigger and stronger. We have set up a UStream web cam at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bigcathospital where you can watch his progress. I've been writing my story since I was able to write, but when the media goes to share it, they only choose the parts that fit their idea of what will generate views. If I'm going to share my story, it should be the whole story. The titles are the dates things happened. If you have any interest in who I really am please start at the beginning of this playlist: http://savethecats.org/ I know there will be people who take things out of context and try to use them to validate their own misconception, but you have access to the whole story. My hope is that others will recognize themselves in my words and have the strength to do what is right for themselves and our shared planet. In this episode, Daniyal and Matt discuss their experiences so far with 3D printers and what some of the future plans are between them.
Did you know you may have a cat parasite controlling your mind? We live in a sea of Toxoplasmosis. Is it affecting you? We also discuss an unfortunately all too common condition in dogs called a Pyometra
A brain parasite may make chimpanzees less cautious and fearful of leopards. Maybe. For over 60 years, fruit flies have been trapped in the dark in one of the longest ongoing scientific experiments. 1,500 generations later, some evolutionary effects are being revealed. A new technique of using modified cancer cells to fight cancer is showing some impressive results in mice, but it's early days yet. The Australian town of Wangaratta is being swamped by tumbleweeds. And it's all one person's fault.

RNDr. Jaroslava Flegrem, CSc. z Přírodovědecká fakulty Univerzity Karlovy.
The most successful organisms hide in the shadows. The parasite Toxoplasma gondii is just such a puppet master, and its marionettes include rodents, cats and human beings. In this episode, Julie and Robert uncover Toxo's neural-hijacking scheme. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers

Objectives: There is scarce data on immune reconstitution in antiretroviral naïve AIDS-patients with toxoplasmosis. The observation of several cases with reduced increase of CD4-cells upon start of antiretroviral treatment (ART) prompted us to investigate the topic in the ClinSurv cohort. Methods: 17 German HIV treatment centers contribute to ClinSurv, a multicentre observational cohort under the auspices of the Robert Koch Institute. We retrospectively selected all antiretroviral-naïve patients with toxoplasmosis (Toxo) and - as comparator group - with pneumocystosis (PCP) between January 1999 and December 2005. Results: A total of 257 patients were included in the analysis, 61 with Toxo and 196 with PCP. Demographic baseline data showed differences with regard to gender, transmission group, and baseline CD4+ counts (60.9 vs. 44.7/µl, p=0.022). After ART initiation the increase in CD4+ lymphocytes was lower in the Toxo versus the PCP-group in the first, second and fourth three-month-period (74.4 vs. 120.3/µl, p=0.006; 96.6 vs. 136.2/µl, p=0.021; 156.5 vs. 211.5/µl, p=0.013). Viral load (VL) was higher in the PCP-group at baseline (4.46 log10cop/ml vs. 5.00 log10cop/ml, p=0.008), while virological success of ART was equal. Conclusions: Our data show for the first time that the average CD4+ T-cell increase of patients with toxoplasmosis is slower as compared to PCP. Most clinicians would not be prepared to discontinue follow-up Toxo-therapy unless CD4+ counts of 200/µl are reached. Explanation for our finding might be the myelosuppressive side effect of pyrimethamine, possible interactions of toxoplasmosis therapy with ART, or an unknown direct biological influence of toxoplasmosis on immune restoration.
