Enter Doug Marshall the MD of Achieve B2B Marketing a company well within the B2B space when it comes to strategic planning and marketing communications. Doug has a wealth of Marketing experience, with a background in the publishing industry rising to Group Head of Marketing before becoming a Marketing Consultant. In this episode we cover; - The difference between B2C and B2B Marketing - What you should focus on first - The details behind a Marketing plan - The biggest frustrations within B2B Marketing Watch the episode video: https://youtu.be/xjJSsJa8eyM  Takeaways Top Tip It sounds crazy that some companies don’t consider this, but when you are entrenched in something sometimes it’s hard to see above it. When Doug stated that you need to ask the customers what they want!, it made perfect sense. Our businesses are there to solve a problem and we need to know what problem needs solving the most! Favourite Quote ‘Think of the emotions someone in the B2B space is going through’ and it’s so easily missed as we often see B2B as transactional, but there are still people involved here, real, physical people and we can’t forget that. Get to know them as well as you know the business as you’re selling to them, not to the business. And Finally, the Most Important Takeaway from this Episode We’ve got to remember that measuring and monitoring our activities is fundamental for future improvements and success. Using the NPS (Net Promotor Score) and review sites provides a really good overview of how well a company is doing from both the qualitative and quantitative. Do this over a period of time to see trends and patterns to help you in the future. Music Featured on this Podcast: Sleepy in the Garden Lobo Loco www.musikbrause.de  Creative Commons License

This is often the response Dr. Doug Derbyshire hears in Thailand when sharing the gospel because being Thai is closely connected to being Buddhist. When Doug was in high school, a missionary told his Sunday School class that the saddest thing he’d seen is children sick and dying because there was no one to care for them. Then and there, Doug said his calling to be a missionary and doctor happened at the exact same time. Now having served 28 years on the mission field, hear from Doug about God’s providence and provision in Thailand, a place where people are known by how much they smile.

Douglas Caddy (attorney for E. Howard Hunt, who was involved in JFK’s assassination and Watergate) discusses his books ("Watergate Exposed: How the President of the United States and the Watergate Burglars Were Set Up,” and “Being There: Eyewitness to History”) with Kris Millegan (TrineDay publisher).Nixon was set up because of his (“Huston”) plan to bypass the intelligence agencies and do unsavory things. He felt he couldn’t trust the agencies. He didn’t think they could defend our country if we had a crisis with the Soviet Union. Their reports merely glorified themselves. They (the CIA, the NSA, and military intelligence) engineered his downfall in order to protect their turf. (Doug: Nixon was right. These agencies are not doing what they’re supposed to be doing.)Robert Merritt (confidential informant to the FBI and DC police) told his attorney, David Isbell, that military intelligence knew about the Watergate break-in 2 and a half weeks in advance. Carl Shoffler and Bob Woodward went to the NSA spy school together. Shoffler then worked for the police department and Woodward worked for The Washington Post. Both played key roles in bringing Nixon down. (Kris: Nixon got his start by blackmailing the Dulles brothers. There’s always an interesting relationship between a blackmailer and a blackmailee. The blackmailer often gets paranoid.)Doug represented Billie Sol Estes as he tried to reveal what he knew about JFK’s assassination and the killings that LBJ was deeply involved in. Billie Sol was Lyndon Johnson’s bagman.Doug got to know Roger Stone while working with the National Conservative Political Action Committee in the 1970s. Doug believes Stone helped create a back channel to Moscow for people helping candidate Trump in January 2016. Doug wrote FBI director James Comey and special prosecutor Robert Mueller about that. Sooner or later, Stone may be forced to tell what he knows. When Doug was in high school he worked with Guy Banister, assistant superintendent of the New Orleans police department at the time (2 blocks away from where Lee Harvey Oswald lived with his mother). Doug organized young conservatives in the 1950s, inspiring the movement that propelled Senator Barry Goldwater to the Republican nomination in 1964. The conservative philosophy was vastly different then. Goldwater is misunderstood. He was very open-minded. The conservative movement went off the rails in the 1970s because Nixon was forced to resign. The Republican Party today is almost a cult, a very dangerous cult. Doug, convinced that Trump has been controlled by Putin, fears foreign destabilization of the United States will continue despite Trump leaving office. Doug: “I want to thank TrineDay. I’m very proud to be among the [authors] you offer to the public. You’re doing a fantastic job of informing people of what’s really going on.”

Doug Williamson, an NRCHA Million Dollar Rider, is interviewed by Chris Dawson and Russell Dilday. Presented by Saddle House Custom Saddles & West Knives Doug Williamson has truly lived the Western dream life movies are made from. Born in the Southeast corner of Oregon, Doug was the oldest son of Sylvan and Barbara Williamson. Raised as a cowboy on the family ranch and riding a horse from the time he could crawl, Doug’s first victory came at the age of five while riding behind his Dad in a match race! Doug’s love for the racehorses grew and it wasn’t long before he was on the tracks, himself. He also participated in Western events, winning his first buckle at the age of 8 in hackamore reining. At thirteen he won his first buckle calf roping, then, a year later when his dad was seriously injured in a riding accident, Doug took over the duties of running the family ranch. Sylvan Williamson always had an eye for great horses and purchased one that would turn into one of the best horses Doug would every ride. His name was Baldy C. The horse could do anything and let Doug know what a truly great horse felt like. When Baldy C was 16 years old When Doug was 19, he rode Baldy C to become the high point working cow horse in the nation… a title they captured again two years later. At 17, Doug decided it was time to strike out on his own, and he secured a job as the cattle foreman for the Markham Cattle Company. While Doug was working on the ranches he always had outside horses in training, and he credits many of his skills to the old-timers he learned from. In the mid-sixties, he took a break from training full time and decided to rodeo for a living. On the road for about a decade, Doug calf roped, team roped and rode a few saddle broncs, winning prestigious events all over the West, including the Ellensburg Rodeo. In1978 Doug went back to training full time in Nampa, Idaho, and for 14 years he trained everything from halter horses and cow horses, to English equitation horses. He made over 30 AQHA Champions in many different events and ranks among the AQHA’s most successful trainers. In 1987 the world came crashing down on the Williamson family when Doug was diagnosed with cancer. He was near death in the hospital but still had his great horses on his mind. Doug pulled through cancer, and in classic fashion, was aboard Montana Lynx 7 months later, taking the reserve championship and winning over $20,000 at the Biggest Little Cutting In The World. In 1990 Doug was hired to help build the horse operation at the Tejon Ranch, so he packed up and headed to California. Being extremely busy he had sent his Dad on a buying trip to look for mares and studs for the ranch, and Doug had ended up with a little black yearling from the King Ranch that no one else wanted… he would turn into Doug’s first Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion. In 1992 Doug and Mr. San Olen captured the Open title, and since 1990 Doug has made the finals nearly every year. Spiritual Experiences with Doug Wallace

Doug Wallace is eighty-four years old going on fifty-five. He’s up by 5:30 am and if his wife, Peggy Hunter, isn’t up by six, he’s going to wake her because it’s time to get in the canoe. They canoe every day (weather permitting) from ice out in May to closing up the cabin in late September on Lake Vermilion.Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota is big. In fact, it’s the 5th biggest lake in the state known as the land of 10,000 lakes. It’s 30 miles from one end to the other and has over 360 islands. There are more than 1200 miles of shoreline on this lake and Doug has paddled 2/3 of that shoreline and intends on completing them all. He’s just about to turn 84 years old. The reason I know and love the woods, lakes, camping, canoeing, boating, loons, bald eagles, the Boundary Waters and everything northern Minnesota can be traced back to my friend and mentor, Doug Wallace. He’s the one who scouted Lake Vermilion for land in 1962. He’s the one who rallied my parents to buy some of that land and build an A-frame in the early 70’s. He’s the one who helped me in countless ways when I built my own cabin and he’s the one who maintains a vigilant watch over this precious lake and greater environment.Doug’s first trip into the Boundary Waters was in 1943 when he was just six years old and every moment of that experience is still crystal clear for him. That experience shaped his life. Even though it was chilly in late September and they couldn’t leave the lake they were camping on because they were wind bound, he had the time of his life. When Doug and his wife, Peggy Hunter, wake up early and get in the canoe they regularly see a miraculous and ever-changing shoreline. They routinely have what Doug calls, spiritual experiences. Whether it’s two American Bald Eagles alighting on a White Pine branch and turning to see the sun just as it rises or slipping along quietly on perfectly still lake with the landscape perfectly reflected in the water, they witness the wonder of the boreal forest and all its wild inhabitants on a daily basis. Unless it’s pouring rain. But Doug doesn’t stop there as a passive observer. He goes to bat every single day for the wild places and animals that he loves and cherishes. Our conversation is a step-by-step lesson in how to organize people for a common cause. He’s the definition of a grass-roots organizer. When logging of old growth timber and proposed logging roads were about to take place nearby, on the doorstep of the BWCAW, Doug and Peggy got busy.Eventually, Doug and Peggy and their allies were able to use modern conveniences such as email but this campaign was grown through one on one conversations. Through relentless determination and vision, Doug, Peggy and their friends protected this critical and sensitive habitat from needless destruction. It would seem Doug would need to take a nap but he’s got loons to protect. He, Peggy and their neighbors have been instrumental in creating important speed limits on Lake Vermilion. Loons nest very close to shore and the huge wakes of the ever increasing boat traffic on the lake have been extremely detrimental to loon eggs. Our wide-ranging conversation covers the birth of a new loon in the area, hiking in the Mission mountains, landscape photography, YMCA leadership programs, climate change and its effects on the boreal forest and much more.At the core of what Doug talks about, cares about and fights for though is a recognition that spiritual experiences are available to all of us in wild places. What is a spiritual experience for Doug?“That you really are in the deepest possible touch with creation and the creator and a piece of that creation. And for a moment or two or longer, there is a connection between you and another species that is very rare. At a deep beyond word, beyond science experience.”

Welcome back to the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning podcast, episode #82 on “How Looking at Your Brain Can Change Your Life” with a case study from one of my friends, business growth expert,  Doug Sutton, who had a SPECT brain imaging scan a few years ago through Dr. Daniel Amen’s Clinics, when he was noticing some mental fog and lower energy levels. I remember seeing the testimonial from Amen clinics come through social media and the headline I read was powerful! It said, “When Doug made the decision to look at his brain, it changed his life.”[i]  You can watch the interview on YouTube here.I know that this episode will help all of us, including myself, to really think about the fact that “if our brain is working right, we will work right.” (Dr. Daniel Amen, from Amen Clinics). For those who are new here, my name is Andrea Samadi,  I’m a former educator who created this podcast to bring awareness, ideas and strategies to our most pressing issues facing educators in the workplace, or parents working from home or in the corporate space, to keep us all working at our highest levels of productivity. The goal is to bring the most current brain research and practical neuroscience, connected to our social and emotional skills, to take our results to the next level. After quoting Dr. Daniel Amen, (one of the most well-known psychiatrists and brain disorder specialists) from Amen Clinics, for most of the episodes I have done on this podcast, and after interviewing Dr. Shane Creado, episode #72 on “Peak Sleep Performance for Athletes”[ii] one of the sleep doctors who works out of his Chicago clinic, and his daughter, Chloe Amen on episode #11 on the book that she helped Daniel to revise called “Change Your Brain, Change Your Grades.”[iii] I wondered what I would learn about my current and future health, by doing a brain imaging scan from Daniel’s  Clinics. I took the online course Dr. Amen and Tana (his wife) did this Spring called “The End of Mental Illness”[iv] to continue learning more about brain health, and the prize they were offering was a FREE brain scan. This was the first time I even thought about getting my own brain scanned, so I took the class, completed all of the work required for the contest, but didn’t win. I forgot about it until I interviewed Dr. Shane Creado, on episode #72 and I started to see how important sleep was for our brain health. It was Dr. Creado who suggested I contact Amen Clinics and set up a SPECT scan to take a look and see what is going on and he could offer more targeted tips for me based on what he sees.Dr. Amen always says, “How do you know, if you don’t look?” So of course, I’m schedule to get a SPECT image scan of my brain next week, and my husband is coming along with me so we can both learn ways that we can look at the current state of our brain health, with the goal of optimizing our brain and future. I’m not sure what we will learn, but I thought a good first step would be to speak with Doug Sutton and learn first-hand from his brain scan experience what he learned, and how it not only impacted, but changed his life. Sit back, take some notes, and if you have ever thought about getting a brain scan, I’m sure you will be convinced after this episode.Welcome Doug! Thank you so much for writing back so quickly about this. I know it’s been quite some time since we hung out through the seminars, but thank goodness for social media, we can reach out and connect as if no time has passed. Before we get into the questions, I’d love to know how everything is going for you these days. When we were speaking, you told me that you had a client that would be a great match for this podcast [v] and they were. I am definitely going to reach out to them for an interview. What work do you do?Q1: Doug, can you share what brought you to even consider going to get a brain scan? I know that you mention in your testimonial video that you were experiencing brain fog, and lower energy levels, but how did “contact Amen clinics for a SPECT scan” even enter your mind?Q2: I know that you had symptoms that led you to wanting to “look at your brain” but many people can use this opportunity to optimize their health since I know there is so much they can see about a person just from looking at their brain. I know Dr. Amen scanned Tana Amen’s brain when they were in the early stages of dating and he could see that a car accident she walked away from had an impact on her brain. Were you afraid of what they would find?Q3: What was the most noticeable thing they found out about your brain?Q4: What did you do differently AFTER you saw your results?Q5: What brain health habits did you keep after this experience and was there anything you stopped doing that you think you should go back to doing now we are talking about it? Q6: Is there anything important that you want to add that you think we might have missed?Thank you so much Doug, for sharing your SPECT imaging story. I know that there are many people out there who are thinking about doing this, but don’t know where to begin, whether they are like you are have symptoms, or like me, and just want to take their health to another level.  I’m excited to learn more ways to optimize my brain, but also nervous about what they will find. Welcome to the Keto Kamp Podcast Episode 60 with Doug Reynolds!     Today, I a have Doug Reynolds, founder of LowCarbUSA®, a platform for scientists, entrepreneurs, and the medical community to share their research surrounding the low carbohydrate and ketogenic lifestyles.   Founded in 2015, LowCarbUSA® is an organization focused on dietary education and support by hosting scientific conferences, providing online coaching, a comprehensive library of scientific papers supporting the way of eating, and a worldwide database of 'Low Carb Friendly' healthcare providers and nutritionists.   In Doug Reynold's early '30s, he had run almost a hundred marathons and ultras and could eat pretty much anything he liked. As Doug approached 40, however, he noticed he was putting on a little weight each year and, no matter how hard he trained, Doug was not able to get the weight off again. In the end, he was always injured and hating running and life itself.   When Doug was first introduced to the concept of the Ketogenic / Banting lifestyle, he could not believe that an athlete could function without carbohydrates. However, as an engineer at heart, Doug started reading all the research, and he found that it made total sense. Plus, it explained all the issues he was having, including the things Doug struggled with back when he was running well.   In this episode, Doug Reynolds opens the show describing his experience gaining weight and then losing it with the keto diet. He was inspired, so he started LowCarbsUSA and describes the lifechanging conferences they hold each year. Plus, Doug explains how he is committed to helping to reverse the current consensus on a diet here in the US and around the world. The consequences of the governmental dietary policies introduced in 1977 have been catastrophic, and it's time we all took a stand! Tune in! Become a member of the Keto Kamp Academy today! Fresh Pressed Olive Oil: http://www.ketokampoliveoil.com Purity Coffee: http://www.ketokampcoffee.com   [00:15] About Doug Reynolds   Doug was a distance runner; he thought he was bulletproof. Doug would run 55-mile races in Africa. As he aged, Doug started to pick up a few pounds of weight every year. At one point, Doug stood on the scale and was horrified to see he was 35 pounds over his ideal weight. Without any resources, Doug tried the keto diet with trial and error. His inflammation cleared up, he lost the weight, and he stopped snoring at night.   [11:15] LowCarbsUSA® Conferences Doug’s first conference far exceeded his expectations. Every conference, they end up building a community and a culture within their organization. They also live stream all of their events – it is available to people online. The live stream is cheaper, and you will not have to travel. However, the vibe and the comradery are lifechanging.   [20:00] Standard of Care Doctors have many challenges suggesting keto to their patients. The standard of care is not a document. You don’t learn it at college. It is a consensus of practitioners in a similar environment with similar training what they actually do in practice. There is now a document guiding physicians on how to utilize a low-carb diet with their patients. Eventually, practitioners who do not acknowledge this diet as a viable way to change a health outcome, they may have to face a malpractice lawsuit.   [35:30] The Conference in Indonesia The audience was in tears when they heard of a boy who had a certain condition and was told he would never walk again. After the boy and his parents started the keto diet, he was able to walk again. Not only did that miracle happen, but his parents also lost weight, and their health improved.   [42:55] Practicing Gratitude Doug is grateful for finding out about the keto diet at the age of 51.   [43:40] Doug’s Definition of Perfect Health Weight is not part of the definition. It comes along for the ride. Doug started keto because of weight. He only learned about the metabolic benefits as he went along. Perfect health is all your biomarkers being where they need to be. That does not include LDL. If you are not eating carbs, then LDL is not an issue. People focus way too much on weight. No one ever dies from being fat; they die from the underlying metabolic issues that made them fat. Society is so focused on weight. If you get yourself metabolically healthy, the weight will come. Be patient. Weight loss is a side-effect of perfect health.     AND MUCH MORE!   Resources from this episode: Visit Doug’s Website Read his blog Read the Clinical Guidelines Document Connect with Doug Reynolds: Twitter Facebook Pinterest YouTube Instagram Attend the LowCarbUSA conference in Boca Raton, FL. As your company gets bigger, business owners discover a tough problem — you become less and less in touch with what your employees are doing and you don’t know if you’re on track with your goals. And if you do regular quarterly meetings, another problem that arises is that your actions are not tightly aligned to your goals between the day-to-day. Today’s guest has some answers on how to become more involved and aware of where your company is going.   Doug Walner is the CEO of Align Technologies Corp, a growth management tool to help develop, track, and measure your progress. He has over 25 years of technology business management and his background includes human capital management, consumer production, aviation, and media.   When Doug was in the process of selling one of his companies, the diligence and amount of paperwork involved to show buyers and investors his company and his staff were on track with their goals were extensive and tedious. When Align came along, things really changed for so many entrepreneurs, especially when it came time to sell.   One of the amazing features about Align is that employees can now see what everyone in the business is in charge of doing, and how they’re doing. It creates transparency and accountability within the company. Due to its interface, buyers and investors can also quickly log into Align and see progress reports, priorities, and have historical data for the business in an instant.   It’s just good business to track as much as you can about the company. This opens you up for so much more when you’re ready to sell or get more financing. When businesses rely on the founder to ‘keep things going,’ it becomes very difficult for an investor to fund you when they cannot realistically see if your business is even scalable.   Interview Links: Aligntoday.com   Resources: Scaling Up for Business Growth Workshop: Take the first step to mastering the Rockefeller Habits by attending one of our workshops. In this episode, we speak with Doug Petkanics, co-founder and CEO of Livepeer. Livepeer is developing open source video infrastructure services on top of the Ethereum blockchain. For those interested in learning about how a project tackles the huge challenge of designing token economic systems to properly align incentives of different groups in a network, this episode is for you. Doug describes what it was like in the early days when he and his co-founder were trying to prove to themselves that it was possible to solve this problem. He shares how they spent time developing unrelated projects on Ethereum to learn what it was like and to understand the limitations of the technology. We also delve into the lessons they learned around things like fundraising from their previous experiences as startup founders. One of the most interesting topics we discussed was how they are using staking and slashing in their protocol. Overall, it was a fascinating discussion. Enjoy! Beyond Influencer Marketing

Host of the Nice Guys Podcast, entrepreneur, and industry leader Doug Sandler shares how he first connected with mentors who showed him a clear path to reinvent his career. As an influencer himself, he also shares the #1 factor to succeed when someone wants to initiate a business relationship with him. Doug's Journey Doug learned that having the right connections is the best way to grow as an entrepreneur, and that’s why he wrote “Nice Guys Finish First,” a book that explores how to build such a strong network of connections. “The more people you help, the more people who help you,” he says. Your influencer marketing story When Doug went through a career reinvention, connecting with a mentor helped him find his path. Jeffrey Heizlett, a prime-time television and radio host at C-Suite was that mentor. Doug started by posting a review of Jeffrey’s book and podcast. His goal was to deliver as much value as possible. When Jeffrey was traveling in the same area, Doug reached out and asked to meet him in person. Jeffrey agreed, and a powerful mentorship relationship started. To approach influencers, Doug suggests to always start by delivering value, and to be very specific about what you want to achieve. Get to know the influencer to ensure you share the same values, too. What has worked best to build your platform? Doug’s book allowed him to grow a large following on Twitter. Once he launched his podcast “The Nice Guys on Business” to promote his book, his audience skyrocketed. Now, the podcast has reached a million downloads. Doug stresses that the growth of his audience happened after 16 months hosting his show. If he had given up too soon, he would have never experienced the success he’s achieved. Worst influencer marketing moment Doug’s network of connections has changed as his goals change. Some relationships have fallen flat, but the only way to know whether a relationship is going to work out or not is by getting to know people. Taking that first step is essential. “Don’t be afraid to build new relationships,” Doug says. “I’ve learned more from the failures in my life than from the successes.” One thing you're most excited about Doug founded a company called Turn Key Podcasting, in which he helps podcasters launch, produce, and promote their podcast. He applies the system he’s created which allowed his podcast to reach a million downloads. He customizes his services based on the podcasters’ primary goals. Mastering Mentorship through Adversity with Doug Stewart: Can you think of something you can do today that will make your life worse? What about something that will make your life better?  Now, are you willing to do what it will take to make your life better? Or will you be a victim? Our guest today, Doug Stewart, is no stranger to living a life as a victim. It wasn’t until he was in college that his whole mindset changed. During his school years he was told that he had a speech impediment, ADHD, and narcolepsy. He couldn’t write his alphabet until the age of 11. He had one person believe in him and that changed everything. Doug’s college experience was different than his grade school experience; they actually expected him to perform in school in order to play sports. When he was in grade school, many teachers allowed him to get by because of all his disabilities that were listed in his folder. His 1.4 GPA in college landed him in the office of his academic advisor, Sarah. Sarah is that one person who believed in him. When Doug went into her office that day, the words she spoke to him changed his life completely. She knew he wasn’t living up to his potential. She said to him “you know what your problem is? Your problem is that you’re a victim of your own thinking.” Sarah made him come into her office every day so she could help him in his classes. Sarah would read his homework out loud to him and he was to draw picture of what it reminded him of. After a couple of weeks, he became more comfortable in his classes. He was remembering the things she read to him and the pictures he drew. He started making higher grades on his tests. At the end of the semester he went to look at his grades and he had an “alarm clock moment”. An “alarm clock moment” is that feeling you get when your alarm didn’t go off and you are going to be late to something important. He felt that he was behind and he was going to miss out on LIFE. He had missed so much in his life already and he couldn’t wait any longer. He now knew that he could learn and his disabilities were not going to hold him back. Doug started to find ways to develop himself and he needed a mentor to do that. He actually needed many mentors because he was behind in all areas of his life. Think for a moment if you had a boardroom inside of your mind. Who would you have sitting at your round table? Who would you want to pour into your life? Stephen talks about his board members and they are all people who want to help him succeed and people who he wants to help succeed. Doug talks about all his board members and all the mentors he has in his life. He gives us 5 and a half types of mentors that we should look for. And yes, that is half of a mentor that we should look for in life. The first mentor we should have at our table is a “street view mentor”. This mentor is someone who is wearing the same jersey as us, similar perspective and same mission. Doug gave an example of his wife for this mentor. She has the same perspective as he does and she is on the same mission. The next mentor to look for at our table is a “world view mentor”. This mentor is someone who has a different perspective as us but still the same mission. Doug’s example of his world view mentor is a couple from his hometown, Raleigh, NC, by the names of Tom and Molly. They are a couple that sit above his perspective and can help him miss the road blocks of life. Another mentor to have sitting with us would be the “categorical mentor”. Think of this mentor as a filing cabinet. There are things in this mentor that we would like to replicate but then there are also things in this mentor that we would like to keep closed. We can pull the areas of influence out from this mentor but we don’t have to follow everything about them. The fourth mentor to look for is called the “stealth mentor”. Think of this mentor as a ninja. They go unnoticed. They are people who are mentoring us but have no idea. We are able to have a conversation with them and an impromptu mentor session. The “time machine mentor” is the next one on the list. These are people that we can no longer sit down with to have a cup of coffee but have left us resources. They have come before us and have given us a legacy to follow through with. Doug gave the example of his grandfather, Abraham Lincoln and Jesus. They are no longer here on earth with us but have left us many resources that we can gain wisdom from. This mentor is the five and a half mentor. The half is very important because this person needs to be part of our mentors but shouldn’t take up as much time as the other five. This mentor is called the “anti-mentor”. More than likely we have already thought of a person that would be an anti-mentor of ours. It’s someone that we want nothing to do with and wouldn’t follow anything in their life. There are as many lessons in people we don’t want to be like as there are in people we want to be like. We need to know what we don’t want as much as we need to know what we want. Having mentors in our lives are important. Something that is just as important, if not more, is menteeship. Menteeship is the capacity and willingness to learn from things around us. In order to be a good mentee, we must recognize that we don’t know everything and we must be willing to learn, not just for ourselves, but for other people’s benefit. Doug intentionally learns something new each day. He went from not wanting to learn at all, to wanting to learn everything. He lives a life of enthusiastic discovery. He is always willing and wanting to learn. Everyone has more potential that we all know. Our effect on the world isn’t our responsibility. Our responsibility is to take action and plant seeds. God will harvest those seeds. Our adversities never feel good but the result when we overcome is amazing! Once we start sharing our story, we are planting those seeds. How many lives would you change if you were to face your main obstacle head on? How many seeds could you plant? If you are willing to change your own life, you can change others. You too can live a life of enthusiastic discovery! To get more information on Doug Stewart, visit his website at dougstewart919.com. We sincerely hope that you enjoy today’s podcast. ## Project   It’s easier than you think to publish your module on Drupal.org. This is my experience going through the entire process. Sharing this experience I hope to convince you and others to do the same. Contributing back to the community that gives all of us so much, to many of us our livelihood.    * When Doug first recommended that I talk to you about this, I wasn’t really thrilled. But, I took a look at your slides, and thought that it actually looked like really good information. So, what made you decide to put together a presentation on the project application process in the first place? My “Why” Finally published a module to help solve my own problem My project that took me through this process is Display Suite Extra Layouts https://www.drupal.org/project/ds_extra_layouts Projects don’t have to be the 100% perfect solve for everyone, everywhere It’s more about: Giving back, centralizing code, helping others make great projects too.   * So what are the steps to getting a project reviewed and accepted? Where to start and basically the entire guide to submitting a module “Apply for permissions to create full projects” https://www.drupal.org/node/1011698 Some things to know One time process Reviews are primarily by your peers Learns/reiterates code standards and best practices Do your Research First Check if your idea exists already Combine efforts where you can Volunteer as a co-maintainer where needed   * Okay, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. What are the technical steps you need to follow to get your project approved? Setup Git Access Learn some Git basics Google is your friend Github & Code School’s tutorial http://try.github.io Setup your Git Access in your D.o profile Basically just need to add an SSH key Instructions here: https://www.drupal.org/node/1047190 Sandboxes With Git access setup you can now create sandboxes or “experimental” projects Instructions here: https://www.drupal.org/node/1011196 Take advantage of these, having a commit history of changes is a good thing. Use sandboxes to get your code “production ready” The Checklist (Pre-Application) Before starting the application make sure you run through the checklist Setup Readme, Git Branches, well commented, etc... Link to checklist: https://www.drupal.org/node/1587704 The process goes much much faster, many people skip it PA Review Bonus Part of the checklist asks you to run your sandbox through a bot. Catches the majority of problems. You can setup your own Review Bot  https://www.drupal.org/project/pareviewsh http://pareview.sh/ “Full Stop” - Took me a while to figure that out. You get a review bonus when everything is fixed. The Application https://www.drupal.org/project/issues/projectapplications READ THE DIRECTIONS! In the title include core version: [D7] Write a Clear Descriptions… can be the same as your project/sandbox page Clear descriptions help people understand better the purpose of your project Provide links to your Sandbox, the Git clone command, and PA Review When you are ready set the status to “Needs Review”     * I noticed when I looked through your slides that you mentioned reviewing other projects as a part of this. Why is that needed? Reviewing other projects You must review at least 3 other people’s projects Post a link to your reviews in your own project application It’s just like trying a new module. Download it, enable it, try it Report back your findings… good, bad, and suggestions I learned a lot from doing this Now you wait. Others will review your project and post feedback. be prompt to fix issues Once all is well someone should mark your project “Reviewed and Tested by the Community” Then you wait for someone with the “Power” to grant you full project status   * Once someone has approved your project, what’s involved with getting the official project page setup? Into the Wild! You can now create your project page be mindful of your project URL, you can’t change it Create a new release on your project page and in Git Creating a release: https://www.drupal.org/node/1068944 Tag Nameing Convention: https://www.drupal.org/node/1015226 FIN.   ## Questions from Twitter * [timani.co.zw](http://twitter.com/timani_net) Will this cover D.O vs github for projects? Pros & cons of staying with current design vs migrating to github? * [Joshua Turton](http://twitter.com/sjinteractive) #MUP117 When are we going to see movement on the project application issue queue? * [Joshua Turton](http://twitter.com/sjinteractive) #MUP117 process seems broken - have to apply... but once past "quality control" you can release any junk u want. * [Joshua Turton](http://twitter.com/sjinteractive) #MUP117 Also: encouraged to review others to boost your app's priority, but why would we trust reviews from users who haven't passed through process? (speaking of high priority list/review bonuses)
