LEAH GOLDSTEIN, prepare to be swept into the mind of a champion! Most little girls grow up desiring to be a princess or a nurse or a teacher, but not Leah Goldstein. Leah knew since she began to talk that she wanted to be Bruce Lee. Growing up in Vancouver, B.C. with new immigrant parents, Leah was often bullied at school because of her accent, speech impediment and her limp. Leah realized at a very young age that the answer wasn't running from your problems, but facing them head on.   What happens when a young girl doesn't believe in limitations? What is possible when her dreams resonate at such a frequency, that they force themselves into reality? Practically anything, as proven by Leah Goldstein's stunning example of an unbounded life. It's easy to look at the barriers we face and think, “I can't.” Leah Goldstein is here this week to show you, you can. Leah won the Race Across America (RAAM) outright last year at age 52, beating the next closest man by 17 hours. But that barely scratches the surface of her myriad accomplishments and the indomitable spirit that we dive into on the show this week. Leah was the World Kickboxing Champion by age 17. Shortly thereafter, she enlisted in the Israeli Military and became one of the few female instructors of the elite Commando division, specializing in Krav Maga. She later transitioned into Special Forces where she helped combat terrorism and violent crime. At age 30, she became a professional cyclist, and a few years later came back from one of the most horrific crashes in pro cycling history. Her memoir is aptly titled No Limits. It has taken six years for director James Nunn to bring his one-take, real-time action movie to the screen. During that time, 'one-shot' movies like 'Birdman' and '1917' have not only dominated at the box office, but they have also been lauded by critics. In many ways, Nunn's intense, relentless thriller, 'One Shot' - which is released theatrically and on VOD services in the USA on 5 November 2021 courtesy of Screen Media Films - is an even more remarkable achievement, considering its comparatively low-budget and 20-day shooting schedule ('1917', by comparison, was made in 65 days). Nunn puts the success of the film down to a huge amount of preparation, and an incredibly hard-working cast and crew - especially its leading actor, Scott Adkins, who is intimately followed through every long-take, moving from dialogue scenes to gun battles, knife fights, explosions and punch-ups. As a technical feat, there's nothing quite like it in the DTV action world. In this conversation, James explores the film's many great performances - from Adkins to co-stars Ashley Greene Khoury, Ryan Phillippe, and the MMA fighter Jess Liaudin - and lifts the lid on how it was made. Lee Charles - "the Al Leong of British cinema", according to fight choreographer Tim Man - has fought on-screen with some of the world's biggest action stars. He took a clobbering from Dave Bautista in 'Final Score' (2018), and tired to take out Sope Dirisu as 'Lenn the Butcher' in an iconic, grisly battle scene in the TV show, 'Gangs of London', co-created by 'The Raid's Gareth Evans. His role as a French mercenary in 'One Shot' marks another opportunity for him to go toe-to-toe with Scott Adkins - the duo worked together on Nunn's previous Adkins flicks, 'Green Street 3: Never Back Down' (2013) and 'Eliminators' (2016), plus roles in 'Accident Man' (2018) and 'Avengement' (2019). Charles is the walking embodiment of his own life motto - that anything is achievable through hard work. He's currently working with his childhood hero, Sylvester Stallone, on the all-star action sequel, 'The Expendables 4'. We discuss his multifaceted life and career; from Everton FC to six-time World Kickboxing Champion, training with Benny "The Jet" Urquidez and making it in the movies. Two time World Kickboxing Champion under the Professional Karate Association (PKA), 8th Dan black belt in USA Goju Karate, Professional Wrestling trainer and former bounty hunter, Dan Magnus is not fighting for another championship, he is fighting for his life. The 64-year-old Magnus, a native of New York and California resident, is waiting on a heart transplant. However, his situation is extremely rare in comparison to others in his hospital ward. Magnus, who previously had three surgeries is quite possibly the healthiest person in the hospital as he has a stationary bike and dumbbells in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). "It's pretty funny because I have no symptoms. I'm not breathing hard or anything, it's just the tests show my heart's weak. They save we have to wait and get you a good heart. There were two offers already but they weren't strong enough. It's really weird. Usually when you're having a heart transplant you take what ever you can get but they have to find me a heart that strong enough to do what I do," said Magnus from his hospital room. Magnus spends a minimum of 30 minutes on his stationary bike in the ICU ward and uses 3 lb. weights during his shadow boxing sessions. Mangus would lift heavier weights, but the doctors will not allow it. When going for walks around the hospital floor, he practically laps his nursing staff and quips that the wheelchair they follow him around with, he will eventually have to push them once he's tired them out. Magnus has a Swan-Ganz catheter attached through his neck leading to his heart that feeds the medication directly into his valves. Once they took it out of his neck, Magnus went about 20 laps around the ward, walking for an hour just to keep himself active. "My biggest fear when I get out of the hospital is not that I am going to do too much, it is that Tracee is going to yell at me a lot. I'm actually scared! She's prepared. She's by my side. It's going to be a little different for me because with my other two heart surgeries I had nobody," said Magnus about his girlfriend Tracee Meltzer, professionally known as Roxy Astor in the original incarnation of the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (GLOW). Magnus received an outcry of support from legends within the Karate World including Jeff Smith, Don "The Dragon Wilson and Billy Blanks. Magnus continued to work, train, find love and now fights for his life and when listening to the interview, wants to fight one more 12-round fight for his old title, only this time with a healthy heart. "Let me tell you, I'm a human being, I'm scared. I just don't let it effect me. I make it like a fight; you get nerves. Anybody that says go into a professional fight and they're not scared or they're not nervous; they're liars! That's what keeps you going, but you have to over come it. You have to accept it...this is going to be a long road, but I've been down this road a couple of time," said Magnus about his pending transplant. #DanMagnus #Kickboxing #HeartTransplant #Survival #Fighting
