As you may be aware from previous podcasts, Phil is dad to a 14yr old daughter and a 12yr Son. One of the many subjects that Phil and his wife cover with their children is Gratitude and how it is important.Carole Dweck is a great resource for discovering the growth mindset.Children are sponges, and what they see us do, they will mimic and learn from.If your child is not ‘performing' to expectations, it usually is because what they are doing is what we ourselves as adults have shown them. So, how do we breed gratitude into our children?Teach and show your children how. Actions speak louder than words. When you are out with your children, pause and take note of different things, and ask them to list a reason why they are grateful for that thing.Teach them that it doesn't matter who the person is, but to show thanks and to say thanks at any given opportunity.Listen in to Phil as he talks us through different ideas and tactics we can embrace, to help our children breed gratitude.Send us your comments and questions to our Facebook page Facebook.com/FlashCastByPDB or to ask@flashcastbypdb.com. Speaking from experience, with having 2 teens in the house, both Phil and Gianna tackle anxiety from not only the viewpoint of being parents but also as survivors of anxiety themselves. For Phil, his anxiety happens when his mind and body fail to sync up. Finding himself fighting the classic signs of Panic Attacks, Phil has learned that the best way to get his brain to relax and match the speed of his body is through meditation. Taking those deep breaths and grounding himself, letting his brain realise that it's time to slow down from the 100 miles per hour speed it normally runs at, to a much easier and slower speed.Gianna then opens up about her own battles in her early 20s, and not being able to afford support, having to rely on informal support in the form of her sister. With every negative thought, Gianna's sister would challenge her to turn it into something positive. Gianna also goes into how reading and teaching herself about the brain and its functionality has helped her with her anxiety. With the speed of the world and our brains not being able to keep up with the constant changes, listen to parents Phil and Gianna talk about the 4 steps to take to help reign in anxiety and the 7 steps that not only parents but all caregivers should be on the lookout for in their teen or tween, that show when they are battling anxiety.Send us your comments and questions to our Facebook page Facebook.com/FlashCastByPDB or to ask@flashcastbypdb.com.Remember to subscribe, rate and review the show, and as always, thank you for listening!Produced By The Podcast
