It's the fifth and final Saturday of the month of June and that means the Good Brothers are off to explore the DC Animated multiverse, reviewing an episode of The Batman titled "Artifacts." In keeping with the theme of futuristic Batmen, the hosts discuss a plot that borrows some points from The Dark Knight Returns and others from the 1997live-action film Batman & Robin and how well those are used to tell an interesting story. Meanwhile the hosts discuss visual similarities to Frank Miller's classic TDKR and how Mr. Terrific influenced the future of this universe. Wrapping things up they discuss a unique voice casting decision with one of the series' regulars and a DCAU voice-acting legend in a role that gives one of our hosts the creeps. All of this and much more await on this week's all new Elseworlds edition of the DCAU Review! Sean answers your Marvel questions!0:23 Hector Giovanni NavarreteHey Sean I was just barely listening to your Shanlian on Batman guest appearance episode in which y'all discuss the 10 year anniversary of TDK. First of all that episode was great! TDK has a special place in my heart because it's the film that made me fall in love with “geek”/pop culture! After that film and in anticipation of TDKR is where I found MMM and you, amongst other podcast about similar topics. So I wasn't around for the build up to TDK and wasn't a part of the ARG for that film. So that episode was a great chronicle of events leading up to that film, thank you! My questions are:1. Why do you think no other Superhero/Comic book film has not done an ARG similar to TDK? I know TDKR did one but it doesn't sound like it was on the level it was for TDK. 06:51 Hector Giovanni Navarrete2. I know you mention in that episode that no other ARG was as big or as detailed as TDK's. While I agree it's one of the most popular ones out there, the only one that, to me, can truly rival that one is the 1st Cloverfield movies' ARG. I wasn't really following this stuff at that time, but it seems like that one was also as big and detailed. It seems that this film's ARG wasn't as popular/well known as TDK's. I know that the Cloverfield fan group is a “cult” fandom (not in a bad way, just in regards to size). I love the Cloverfield franchise, was let down by Cloverfield Paradox but the first 2 were great! What's your opinion on them? I think you've mentioned before that you liked the 1st one directed by Matt Reeves.08:03 Hector Giovanni Navarrete3. Lastly I feel like Nolan was also starting a type of trend in superhero cinema of having a villain prologue before jumping into the crux of the stories (examples: TDK & TDKR). I know some superhero films have done a sort of prologue of sorts, although not necessarily of villains per say more like about main characters/parents (examples Ant-Man & The Wasp, ASM 1). Although Civil War did have a good short one about Winter Soldier and Tony's parents. Do you like when there are prologues to movies, more specifically to superhero movies, and why do you think they can be effective? Also do you like when they are integral to the story or just sort of add some context to the bigger story? Would you like more films in the genre to do more prologues?10:30 Derek BeebeWhat do you think was the best year of multiple Marvel movie releases? I think it's 2018; Black Panther, Infinity War, and Ant-Man Wasp were all excellent! 11:47 Derek BeebeWhat year do you think had the biggest quality gap between movies? My pick is 2016. I really loved Civil War, but I thought Doctor Strange was merely good.12:32 Derek BeebeWhat are the best Marvel movies to get in 4K?13:45 Derek BeebeI've been reading the Abnett/Lanning run of cosmic comics from Annihilation to Conquest to War of Kings to the Thanos Imperative. What was your favorite storyline of these?15:12 Phillip CastroHey Sean, great job on the content as always! I apologize if this has already been touched on but I wanted to ask your thoughts on whether or not you can see Ghost possibly playing a significant role in Endgame beyond rescuing Scott from the Quantum Realm?16:23 AlexWhy do you think Video game related movies don't work as movies as well as comic book/novel adaptations? And can you ever see a good and successful video game movie ever being made? 20:17 Woo S! KimI used to purchase the Marvel Collector Corps from Funko for my little sisters and they love them. Although, I feel since Funko partnered with Amazon starting with the Deadpool 2 Collector Corps box the quality of the exclusive items has gone down, this is the main reason I don't purchase them any longer, I believe in giving the people I love great gifts. Do you still get the Marvel Collector Corps boxes and if you have, what are your thoughts on the boxes in the last six months or so?22:35 Woo S! KimSean is it true in one version of the Six-One-Six Marvel Universe that The Eternals were responsible for the creation of Mutants and would you like to be the explanation of how Mutants are in the MCU, why or why not?24:17 Woo S! KimThis is going to be a tough question, but I wanted your point of view, Sean. Of the three MCU characters that have had trilogies Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man who do you think have had the most compelling transformative arcs that you have enjoyed the most and why, this includes things we've seen in team-ups.25:27 Alex WardDo you think Black Widow will have a male or female villain? While I want the villain to be a woman so we can have more representation in the MCU, I also think she deserves to go up against a prestige mainstream villain like Taskmaster. What are some female villains you'd like to see in the Black Widow movie, or possibly gender-bent male villains?27:10 Michael Louis WeaselboyHey Sean how do you think they will do Deadpool 3?? Ryan Reynolds said it would be very different, do you think they will incorporate the previous two into the MCU as is or make it a pocket universe? I know it might confuse the audience but we will see. Also when do you think they will release it?29:45 Jordan BentleyHey Sean! Assuming that we lose certain Avengers in Endgame, be it to retirement or deaths, do you think we will get characters like Riri who will pick up the mantle, or will they just let those characters rest for a while?33:03 AlexWho's your top choices for Johnny Storm? I like the idea of Lucas Hedges(who's the same age as Tom Holland) or Dacre Montgomery who I liked a lot in Stranger Things season 2. And out of these two suggestions that I have given which actor out of these two do you think would suit the role more over the other?34:39 AlexI know he's recently been rumored for the Caped Crusader but do you think Richard Madden would be a good fit for everybody's favorite Elastic genius Dr. Reed Richards? I think Madden is a good actor based off what I've seen of him in the Netflix The Bodyguard and I feel Mr. Madden has a strong resemblance to the original Jack Kirby rendition of Reed from the comics.35:44 AlexSean, you are quite familiar with my paranoia/worry about certain markets like China blocking the deal but now I have a big concern that Brazil might potentially be the roadblock that might prevent the deal from becoming a reality. Apparently Iger recently had a meeting with Brazilian regulators in order to explain the value of the deal and it ended without any agreement being reached. How do you see this playing out, Sean? The fact that Iger has to go over to Brazil to meet with regulators tells me that Brazil might be the hardest market to acquire approval in.39:23 AlexDo you think the X-Men coming into the MCU could potentially impede the creativity of the MCU? What I mean creativity is I'm talking about Marvel's willingness to make big brands out of properties that were previously considered obscure or not bankable. It's obvious that if Marvel had X-Men from the start then stuff like Guardians Of The Galaxy would not happen. Sean, can you eventually see a point in which Marvel will eventually stop making movies about lesser known characters and be strictly be in the Mutant-business or do you still foresee Marvel still making movies around more obscure properties like Eternals and Guardians Of The Galaxy. I must admit as much as I like the idea of the merry Mutants coming home I still have a worry that Marvel could end up relying on them too much like Warners relied on Batman and Superman until now. 43:02 Alex WardWe have not seen many villains make major comebacks in the MCU aside from Loki, Thanos, and maybe one or two more that I'm totally blanking on for some reason. That being said, what existing villains would you like to see come back in a big way? I think Red Skull would be a great character to make a full comeback (yes he cameo'd in Infinity War but that doesn't count), maybe in the Falcon/Bucky series or if the Cap movies continue.Similarly, when villains do return, there has to be a twist of some sort, or maybe just some kind of change from their first appearance. For example, Loki had the backing of the Chitauri. What do you think will be different about the Avengers' rematch with Thanos? Do you think maybe there's another villain?49:24 Alex WardDo you think the WB streaming service will absorb the DCU service?54:43 Jerry KowalskiI managed to get my Disney/Marvel Studios 1st 10yrs AIW hat, and just received the Iron Man one, do u know if there will be others? Also if & when Marvel does do their version of The X-Men, why don't they sit on Wolverine a bit, and focus on the core/og members such as Jean,Iceman, maybe Beast, Prof.X and of course Scott, and finally give scott his due and perhaps push him to the forefront of the new X series?57:49 Mookie JohnsonIs it plausible the Infinity war shot with the heros running to the camera that wasn't in the movie was actually footage from Avengers: Endgame or was it just shot for the trailer?59:24 Mookie JohnsonI love the Red Skull's appearance in Infinity War, but it makes no sense to me. Ever since I first saw it, it has felt forced. Why would it send him to the soul stone? Even if I accept the explanation at face value, it means the Space stone decided he was unworthy and then sent him to the Soul Stone as punishment.... So I guess the Space stone was thinking if he spends time with the soul stone he'd grow past his greed and lust for power. What are your thoughts on this?1:04:25 AlexJeph Loeb recently commented on the pending Disney/Fox acquisition and expressed enthusiasm over the prospects of Marvel having the Merry Mutants and The First Family all under one roof and it got me thinking what effects can you see the Disney merger having on the the future seasons of the remaining non-netflix, Marvel shows produced by the television division like Agents Of Shield and the Runaways. Could we possibly see mutants in those shows and all future non-Netflix Marvel shows eventually or do you think the mutants will only be relegated to only Marvel Studio's productions like the movies and the Disney Streaming Service shows?1:08:56 Alex WardAvengers: Endgame Spoiler question See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Now is not the time from bracket. That comes later. (Bane says that in TDKR). This week we are talking about UFC 200, Overwatch, and mostly Pokemon GO! Do we like it? Will it last? And a bunch of other questions.
Welcome back ladies and gentlemen! On this show we get into a whole bunch of it; including the Dark Knight Rises, #ForceFriday, the Tarkin novel, Interstellar, and of course, our weekly beer review. So, the Nolan Batman trilogy… probably everyone’s favorite, right? We recently re-watched TDKR and were excited to dish out our fanboy opinions on the conclusion of this epic series. What we remembered? Amazingness. What we saw this time? A solid movie, but the weakest of the three. How do you rate the Nolan trilogy from best to worst? Oh, and speaking Christopher Nolan, Mopar finally watched Interstellar!!! Rejoice! Support this podcast
WARNING: SPOILERS/NSFWDavid and Jason discuss the trailers for 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice', the CBS released 'Supergirl', and 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow'. We also delve briefly into 'The Flash' 1x22, "Rogue Air" and 'Arrow' 1x23, "My Name is Oliver Queen." So much DC-related material to delve into this week! How do we feel about a TDKR-inspired Batman/Superman film? What say we about the seemingly saccharine tone of 'Supergirl'? And doesn't 'Legends of Tomorrow' just look badass? This is the first episode ever of DC on SCREEN!

Topic: Watchmen (first half)Geek: EricThis week, we finally get to something I've been wanting to discuss since before we started this podcast: The graphic novel Watchmen, by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.Even if you saw the mediocre 2009 film and didn't like it, don't close this tab. I saw it, too, and was confused more than anything else. It's only in the shadow of the far, far superior book that its problems come into clarity. But we're not here to talk about a lousy movie (well, Emily and I talk about it a little bit). We're (mostly) here to talk about a great book, which was also my introduction point to the world of "grown-up" graphic novels.Published in 12 installments between September 1986 and October 1987, Watchmen is both a story about superheroes and a story about superheroes, and the comics that depict them. Along with the seminal Batman miniseries The Dark Knight Returns*, it interrogated ideas long taken for granted, like if/how super-powered beings (or, variously, normal-powered vigilantes with a lot of time and/or money) would actually fit in contemporary society, and whether these people claiming to be heroes could really be trusted in the first place. For this week's episode, Emily and I read the first half of Watchmen, which is six chapters long. Next week, we'll be breaking it up with one of her picks, and then we'll be back the week after with the back six chapters. So go pick up a copy of the book and join us!*Zack Snyder, the same guy who directed that mediocre Watchmen movie, is currently in the process of adapting part of TDKR in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film. Goody. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

How would you like a nice subpar chicken sandwich and a side order of FUHcast? How about just a FUHcast, then? Great! Jim serves up this week's Rundown before joining Bill in announcing that FUH now has a presence on both Pinterest and Tumblr. Jim has an error to fix from last week. You might even say that he has a SCORE TO SETTLE. The guys wonder why NBC is even bothering to make a Munster's reboot if they're changing everything about it. AMC's The Killing may have survived to season 3 if it changed everything about itself. Learn all about how rich celebrities are taking over the one bastion that entertainment's little guy has left. The Ouya is jumping in bed with OnLive (you'll want to listen closely if you have no idea what either of those things are). When you take a man and turn him into an idea, he becomes a legend. When you take a movie franchise and turn it into a legend, it ends up generating one of the most epic podcasts of all time. And after much anticipation on everyone's parts (including our own!), we're pleased to present our dedicated podcast for The Dark Knight Rises. Recorded on the same day we both saw Christopher Nolan's cap on the Batman trilogy, we sit down with fresh memories of the movie and talk about what we loved, how so many of the ideas and concepts in the movie were beautiful constructed over the course of the three movies, and how The Dark Knight Rises managed to provide some serious pay-off. We look back at our original skepticism on Anne Hathaway's casting as Selina Kyle and laugh at how foolish we were. Then we look back at Joseph Gordon Levitt's casting and find ourselves a little puzzled. Jay admits to having some problems with the ending, we look at some of the parts that don't add up... But through it all, we cap off a legacy with a detailed look at why The Dark Knight Rises is such a brilliant, spectacular piece of cinema. And while it's certainly not the perfection piece that The Dark Knight was, we can certainly agree that TDKR is what it needs to be... one of the best endings in any trilogy in a long, long time.
Pardon them while they whip it out, it's a brand new FUHcast! Bill exposes us to the Rundown. Jim's saw The Dark Knight Rises and batarangs us with a SPOILER FREE review. Bill gets Jim's concession confession. Bill shares his secret to sneaking goods into a theater. Because it seems impossible not to mention, the guys share their thoughts on the senseless murders at the theater in Colorado. Did you hear the one about the 78 year old actor who went into a porno theater and got caught pulling his Pee Wee? No? You have to hear Fred Willard tell it! FUH reminisces about a local porn store from their formative years. An underage toe sucker in New York gets caught and logically blames the government. Rush Limbaugh pushes another stillborn conspiracy theory related to TDKR out of this always wrong vagina. Facebook question and FUHcast Hotline questions close out the show. The menu includes: Jim vs digital comics, best in show at the San Diego Comic Con, and will FUH watch the Olympics (?). Hey everyone, and welcome back to Across the Airwaves' classic spin-off podcast entitled "Retro Reviews". Today we speak to you all with very heavy hearts as Woo and I return from our slumber to talk about the theater shooting that took place at The Dark Knight Rises midnight screening in Aurora, Colorado. First of all, we'd like to send our deepest sympathies from here at ATA towards the victims and the families of the victims during this terrible time. Secondly, this even really disturbed Woo and I, and we really get emotional and angry in this podcast. I do encourage you to listen to it, because we do get light-hearted again while talking about The Dark Knight Rises, Arrow & Supernatural at SDCC, and the Man of Steel trailer in detail. And while we do briefly discuss those last three things, the main event of this podcast is our long discussion on this event, as well as our Man of Steel trailer that is suppose to give us hope. If you are afraid to go see TDKR, or any movie at all, I'd encourage you to rise above your fear, doubts, and anger to do it. Not only is it one of the greatest films of the year, but it's also the most epic end to a trilogy that I have ever seen (well, maybe it ties with Return of the King & Return of the Jedi...). The whole point of The Dark Knight Rises and the Dark Knight Trilogy in general is overcoming fear to be better than we are. This is what I encourage all of you to do. Thank you, and enjoy our tribute to the families and victims of this terrible tragedy.

With The Dark Knight Rises opening tomorrow, we're back to talk more about Batman's cinematic career, starting with Batman: The Mask of the Phantasm, the 1993 adaptation of the animated series. From there we let Joel Schumacher be our guide through the (now suddenly) brightly neon-infused streets of Gotham City in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Yes, we actually re-watched Batman & Robin. You owe us audience!!! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell... it's just, I just never thought I'd watch that movie again... We also briefly chat about our expectations for TDKR, and our impressions of the two previous Nolan films. No Spoilers for TDKR, none of us have seen it or read any reviews, though we do discuss some vague rumours about cameos that surfaced about a year ago. We do spoil the ending for Mask of the Phantasm, but to be fair, so did this toy. Download the episode, or better yet subscribe on Apple Podcasts! And be sure to follow us on Twitter! This week we're joined by fellow Bat-fan Tom McGee, and once again the hilarious Johnnie Walker! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Hello fellow Gothamites, Nolanites, and Bat-Fans and welcome back to Across the Airwaves! This is of course the Road to TDKR Podcast Series of commentaries on the Bat-Films leading up to The Dark Knight Rises. HOWEVER, this time on Road to TDKR, your favorite host Dan Schmidt & I will be commentating on one of the most important films in movie, super hero, and comic book history. That film, of course, is The Dark Knight. As the longest and final film in this series of commentaries, Dan & I make a very special effort to not just enjoy the movie, but really dissect the most important elements of it. The Joker. The rise and fall of Harvey "Two-Face" Dent. The effect Rachel's death had on the characters. The importance of the Batman. Our theory on Heath Ledger's death and that his portrayal of the Joker may have driven him to madness. And our theories on how the events of this film will carry on over into The Dark Knight Rises. We dedicate this commentary to Heath Ledger, Conway Wickliffe, Jerry Robinson, and Christopher Nolan himself.

Hey guys, welcome back! In case you don't know, you're listening to the "Road to The Dark Knight Rises" commentary series brought to you by Across the Airwaves! This time, Dan and Michael watch the animated "bridge" in between Begins and TDK entitled "Batman: Gotham Knight". The reason we decided to cover Gotham Knight was because it really does get into Batman's head and sets up his position in TDK (which will be our next and final commentary for Road to TDKR) as well as the fact that Batman is voiced by the only "true" Batman in our opinion, Kevin Conroy! Join Dan and I in watching Batman: Gotham Knight consisting of 6 chapters, by 6 different writers, but it's one over-arcing story. So, thanks for taking the last minute to read this and now put in your Gotham Knight DVD/Blu-Ray, turn on your commentary, and strap in, because we're taking this up to 11!

Hi everyone, and welcome to the long awaited and anticipated event of ATA's Summer schedule: Road to The Dark Knight Rises (or "Road to TDKR" for short). I'd like to thank you all for being patient about the release of this series and this commentary in particular. For our first of three commentaries, Dan and I discuss and commentate on the Christopher Nolan film, Batman Begins, while watching the film (hence commentary)! We talk a lot about Ras Al Ghoul, Bruce's journey to becoming Batman, and how this movie will connect (and how it has forshadowed) to the most anticipated film of this summer, The Dark Knight Rises. So without furtur adu, I'm proud to present to you, Batman Begins, ATA style!
