The Advent of Jesus is more often described as an arrival of Christ to the world, but implicit to an arrival is a story of departure. In this perspective, the departure of Christ from an eternal status quo to corporeal calling in the gospel of Matthew sets the scene of Nativity and the drama implied by Christs arrival. The significance from Christs introduction to the world to the present invites us to take part in the story of redemption and create space for Gods movement in our lives. The First Noel reflects an opportunity to pause from our own norms, make space for the Fathers prompting for our lives, and find our place in the story of Advent.

Preparing for Jesus' Arrival: Reflecting on the Advent Season We extend our heartfelt wishes . . . . . . for a blessed and joyful new liturgical year to everyone. This new beginning calls us to renew ourselves in how we live and grow closer to God. As we step into this liturgical year, we begin with the season of Advent—a time rich with meaning. Advent's Meaning The word Advent originates from the Latin term Adventus, meaning “arrival” or “coming.” This season reflects three profound aspects of Christ's arrival. The First Coming: Advent reminds us of the historical reality of our Lord Jesus Christ's coming to earth. He became man, walked among us, and fulfilled the promise of God. The prophet Jeremiah foretold this in the first reading: God would raise a just shoot from David, fulfilling His covenant with Israel. Jesus' coming is not a myth or a legend; it is a historical truth. He was born as a child, grew among us, and brought salvation to humanity. The Second Coming: Christ also comes to us daily. Advent is a season to recognize His constant presence in our lives. Jesus knocks on the door of our hearts, seeking to be welcomed. He comes to us through His Word, through prayer, and most intimately in the Eucharist. Every day, we are called to open our hearts to Him and embrace His presence. The Final Coming: Lastly, Advent calls us to prepare for Christ's ultimate return in glory. Just as He came in history and as He continues to come to us daily, He will come again to fulfill God's divine plan. This final coming reminds us to live with vigilance and hope, ready to welcome Him when He returns. In the Homily, we hear a story about one family's preparation for Our Lord's Final Coming and its implications for all of us. As we journey through Advent, let us reflect on our readiness for Christ's presence in all its forms. There is the coming of Christ in history in Bethlehem, the coming of Christ now as he approaches our hearts, and the coming of Christ someday in the future. All three of these dimensions belong to our Advent preparation.

Jayant Bhandari, a private strategic resource investor that consults many high-net-worth investors, joins me to review the trends he is seeing in the gold and silver stocks, some arbitrage opportunities in ongoing merger and acquisition deals, and some companies that should have nice upside torque based on their work programs or optionality to defined ounces in the ground.   We start off discussing some of the arbitrage opportunities that Jayant sees in a few mergers, starting with the Integra Resources Corp. (TSXV: ITR) (NYSE American: ITRG) takeover of Florida Canyon Gold Inc. (TSXV: FCGV) (OTC: FCGVF), which was a spinout company from Argonaut Gold during it's takeover by Alamos Gold (TSX:AGI; NYSE:AGI).   We look at the opportunity on the table now for investors looking to capture that arbitrage, but also discuss the value proposition in Integra as it moves from just a developer, to a producers with incoming revenues.  Then we look at the Silvercorp Metals (SVM) takeover of Adventus Mining (ADZN.V) (ADVZF), and how this diversification of jurisdiction and assets is setting up for a value arbitrage in the pro-forma company. We also discuss the Hess Corp (NYSE: HES) takeover transaction in process by Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), that is now being contested by Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM) due to their perceived “Right Of First Refusal” on the large oil project JV in Guyana.   Next we look to a couple junior exploration companies where Jayant feels there is a good opportunity at present due to capitalize on the valuation upside in both Aztec Mining (AZT.V) (AZZTF) and Irving Resources (CSE:IRV)(OTCQX:IRVRF).   With regards to Aztec, we discuss the effects of the “LIFE” financing, and what types of investors these types of capital raises attract that often want to just clip the warrants and then sell the stock.  We then bring into the discussion in the Canadian “Flow Through” financings as another example of investors that position in juniors for the tax break.  Moving over to Irving, we discuss the benefits of bringing in larger senior JV partners in their Yamagano-Noto Joint Venture Term Sheet with Newmont and Sumitomo.  This leads to a larger discussion on the value of juniors having strategic partnerships with larger companies to dilute more at the project level to assist with moving projects forward without having to dilute at the equity level.   In full disclosure, Shad holds shares in Integra Resources and Silvercorp Metals at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit Jayant's website.

Christian Kargl-Simard, President and CEO of Adventus Mining (TSX.V:ADZN - OTCQX;ADVZF) ("Adventus" or the "Company") joins me to discuss the announced merger with Luminex Resources. Both companies are focused in Ecuador, with Adventus holding the advanced development stage El Domo-Curipamba copper-gold project and Luminex holding 13 earlier stage exploration projects in country.    We initially introduce the merger and discuss what the combined company will focus on project wise. I have Christian outline the work needed to bring the El Domo Project into construction and how the combined company will balance building a mine while continuing to manage a large number of projects in country. We also discuss the financing announced with the merger and where the funds will be allocated. Nick concludes our Advent Devotion series by taking a look at St. Nicholas and the Magi.

In the very first Christmas, before Jesus's arrival here on Earth, there was the Great Departure: Jesus had to empty Himself and leave the Father. In doing so, God made an immense, painful sacrifice out of great love for us, fragmenting Himself for the first time to send His only son to us. In a similar vein, we are called to love others, even if it means making sacrifices, and even if it means departing from our everyday comforts. Indeed, Christmas is not only a season of joy and celebration, but also a call for us to be a blessing to others and, in turn, represent Jesus to the world.

Our devotion series continues with a look at what we imagine Joseph was thinking in hearing his betrothed was pregnant, "What do I do now?"
