In this month's episode of Féminin, Rose Manley, Denny Gray and Orla Chennaoui cast their eyes over recent racing at the Tour de Suisse and come dangerously close to speculation as they ponder what it might mean for the year's biggest races and beyond.  Demi Vollering's winning run shows no signs of letting up after taking three stages and the overall win at the Tour de Suisse. But how much could her expected departure from SD Worx at the end of the season stifle her ambitions? And who are her likely rivals?  Plus, this month's mini feature follows four riders and their changing fortunes at the Tour of Britain Women. We hand the microphone over to SD Worx super domestique Christine Majerus, DSM-firmenich road captain Pfeiffer Georgi, youngest rider in the race Eilidh Shaw and Lucy Harris, a full time meteorological data scientist competing at her first ever WWT race. And lastly we look ahead to the forthcoming women's Giro d'Italia which hasn't been won by anyone other than Anna van der Breggen or Annemiek Van Vleuten since 2016. The route boasting time trials, sprints, hilly stages and a fearsome finish on Blockhaus, and with Demi Vollering not starting, we look at who might be capable of winning the maglia rosa. We discuss emerging talents Neve Bradbury and Kim Cadzow and Lidl-Trek's joint leaders of Elisa Longo Borghini and Gaia Realini. He got to spend a day racing with former road race world champion Annemiek Van Vleuten who, after retiring from racing on the road, has taken up gravel riding. Would he be able to keep up? Would he be too star-struck to communicate with her? Although there isn't a direct link between a love of bikepacking or adventure riding and a love of pavé, a lot of the principles are the same – riding an inappropriate bike on a surface that it's not really designed for and having a lot of fun in the process. There's a big difference though between watching it on TV and actually doing it in real life though. And an even bigger difference between riding one of the Spring Classics events and riding all of them, non-stop, over the course of just over 80 hours. That's exactly what Jesko von Werthern did back in 2022 and we caught up with him to get the inside story. News - Rebound 2024Can you imagine a gravel event with 100,000 participants where the target for the combined total distance ridden is 10 million miles? It's an Annemiek Van Vleuten special on The Cycling Podcast Feminin. Rose Manley and Denny Gray reflect back on the racing career of one of the most successful and influential riders in the sport following her retirement in September.  Rose sits down with Van Vleuten herself to talk about the things that shaped her as a rider and how she's finding post-retirement life. And Van Vleuten reveals what's next for her both personally and professionally. We also look back at the ways in which Van Vleuten shaped the cycling world: from her winning-against-the-odds mentality to her extreme training regime. To help us decipher this part of her legacy, Denny speaks to her Movistar teammate Katrine Aalerud who continues to be directly inspired by Van Vleuten's approach to racing. Aalerud also offers up her insight on what it is like riding in service of one of the greatest cyclists of this generation and what Van Vleuten is like off-the-bike too. Plus, we dig back into the archives to hear Richard Moore's interview with Van Vleuten's coach from May 2020. Richard talks to Louis Delahaije about how his unique approach to training unlocked Van Vleuten's continual success. The nature of her training now being one of the most important parts of her ongoing legacy. The Cycling Podcast is supported by Science in Sport. In this month's episode of The Cycling Podcast Feminin, Rose Manley and Denny Gray pour over what has been a packed racing schedule since the World Championships. They pick out the defining moments and big breakthroughs from this closing part of the season which has included a nail-biting Tour of Scandinavia, a lively Tour de Romandie and a Simac Ladies Tour that was full of surprises. We also hear from Canyon-SRAM's huge new talent Antonia Niedermaier who has already bagged a Giro stage win in her first year in the World Tour. The young German tells us about her double life as both an elite cyclist and an elite ski mountaineer and reveals her ambitions to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Rose and Denny also – dare we say – “speculate” on where we can expect the new rivalries and new winners to come next year now that one of the sport's leading lights Annemiek Van Vleuten has retired. Van Vleuten said goodbye to racing at the Simac Ladies Tour, having racked up an astounding 104 wins in her 15 year elite career. The Cycling Podcast is supported by Science in Sport. As the Vuelta a España pauses for its second rest day, these are RadioCycling's latest headlines...Cruise control for Sepp Kuss: With just six days of racing between the American and one of the unlikeliest but also most popular Grand Tour wins of recent times, we hear from the Vuelta race leader. Kuss explains why the steepness and quantity of the climbing that lies ahead holds no fears for him, his good memories of the fearsome Angliru and confirms that there are, as yet, no team orders being applied to Jumbo-Visma's three leaders who fill the top three positions on GC.Cian Uijtdebroeks, the smiling assassin: Few would have expected the 20-year-old Bora-Hansgrohe rider to be the rider spearheading Belgium's challenge this far into the Vuelta. The apparently always buoyant Belgian tells us why his instinct is to attack and why the last week should suit him, while Bora team director Rolf Aldag highlights the qualities that look likely to lift Uijtdebroeks into the ranks of the Grand Tour contenders. What's the future like for Britain's biggest races? A day on from the conclusion of the Tour of Britain, race director Mick Bennett makes a guest appearance on the podcast. He responds to the criticism of his race's route selection, suggests that the government needs to bring its influence to bear in order for elite level bike racing to survive in the UK, and suggests there are ways for racing fans to safeguard the future of the sport by making their voices heard. Annemiek van Vleuten, racing legend: Last weekend the Dutch rider who's won almost every major title in the sport – and in most cases won them again and again – raced for the final time. We get an insider's perspective on Van Vleuten's qualities from Martin Vestby, her team director at Mitchelton-Scott in 2018 to 2020, a period when she made extraordinary strides forward, pulling the women's peloton along in her slipstream, and assess her place in the sport's pantheon of racers.   Support the show

They also discuss Kasia Niewiadoma's hugely impressive ride to take both second on the stage and in the GC, Kopecky putting in a great ride to finish 6th and stay in contention for the final podium, as well as Van Vleuten looking off her best throughout this race. Back in 2018, Chapman had a full-time office job and was competing in her first ever UCI race when she made the final selection at the National Championships. Her sixth place finish saw her land a pro contract, a move to Europe and even victory in the Sun Tour of Annemiek Van Vleuten. The Cycling Podcast Féminin's final episode of 2022 sees the return of the Christmas Quiz! But before their competitive sides kick in, Rose Manley, Orla Chennaoui and Lizzy Banks share their highlights of the season and are in agreement for once.  In a year when the inaugural Tour de France Femmes put women's racing in the spotlight, they reminisce over some of the moments that captured their imagination at the race. Among them is the tightly-contested GC battle, Annemiek Van Vleuten's eventual high mountain domination and getting to witness Marianne Vos – the greatest of all time – in yellow.  Honourable mention also goes to the finale of the Women's Tour where Elisa Longo Borghini snatched overall victory by one second from Grace Brown, with practically the last pedal stroke of the whole race. The emergence of a potential new rivalry between Annemiek Van Vleuten and Lotte Kopecky also caught the attention, with the pair sharing the spoils across two of the most thrilling races of the year: Strade Bianche and the World Championship road race. The Christmas Quiz returns with Rose setting some devilish questions for Orla and Lizzy, such as how many people did it take to open the winner's Champagne at Le Samyn? And did someone really win 8kg of dry dog food at the Lotto Belgium Tour? Plus, there's a finishing round of the pun-tastic “Cryptic Criterium” that descends into exasperation as all good Christmas board games should. Rose Manley, Orla Chennaoui and Lizzy Banks return to give their impressions of this year's thrilling World Championship road race, which saw Annemiek Van Vleuten snatch the rainbow jersey and gold medal in the final moments. Van Vleuten took to the start line with a fractured elbow – sustained only a few days prior to the the race – and looked to be on super domestique duty for the Dutch team. But an opportunistic move when she rejoined the leading group within the last kilometre saw her take her second World Championships road race title. Van Vleuten has ruled the world this season – adding the rainbow jersey to victories in the Giro, Tour and Vuelta, plus Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
