Demi Vollering has done it! She is now a two-time Tour de France Champion after a dramatic final stage around Nice. It all came down to this. The final stage of the Tour de France Femmes was a brutal 99.2km mountain stage around Nice, featuring four ascents of the Col d'Èze and 2,100 metres of climbing, and with just eight seconds separating Demi Vollering and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney at the start, there was everything to race for. Ned Boulting and Lizzie Deignan are on the ground in France to dissect a dramatic final day that saw the race explode on the climbs. Zoe Bäckstedt drove the pace on the front in support of Niewiadoma-Phinney, while riders were dropped one by one as the favourites were whittled down. Marlen Reusser, sitting third overall, was eventually distanced before a crash on the descent dealt a devastating blow to her hopes of finishing on the podium. Elisa Longo Borghini took advantage, moving into third overall. Then came the final ascent of the Col d'Èze. Niewiadoma-Phinney attacked, Vollering followed, and the two went clear of the remaining contenders. Und die Deutschen? Die sind (noch) in ihren Helferrollen gefangen. Wir sprechen darüber in Lausanne, dem Start- und Zielort der ersten Etappe dieser Tour de France der Frauen. 

A 5ª edição do Tour de France Feminino de ciclismo deu a largada neste fim de semana na Suíça. São 21 equipes em competição e 147 ciclistas. Até 9 de agosto, as atletas percorrem cerca de 1.175 km até Nice. A atleta carioca Tota Magalhães, a única ciclista brasileira da edição e a primeira a disputar a Volta no ano passado, corre pela equipe espanhola Movistar pela segunda vez. O time pretende chegar ao pódio neste ano. Em 2025, a Movistar ficou em 22° lugar na classificação geral. Mas este ano, garante que será diferente. “No passado, a gente tinha uma equipe muito forte, mas a nossa líder ficou doente um dia antes. Acabamos indo para uma prova mais aberta, tentando encontrar oportunidades para ganhar uma etapa. Se tudo correr bem, acho que podemos estar no pódio, inclusive vestindo a camisa amarela", disse Tota à RFI.    A camisa que a atleta brasileira menciona é usada pela líder da classificação geral: a ciclista com o menor tempo acumulado ao longo do torneio. No ciclismo, o objetivo do time é apoiar a líder, que, no caso da Movistar, é a suíça Marlen Reusser, vencedora do torneio nacional de seu país recentemente. Tota Magalhães explica seu papel na engrenagem do time como capitã de estrada: “[Sou] aquela que organiza a equipe durante a corrida, que mantém, digamos, a ordem e toma algumas decisões que precisa”. A brasileira diz que tenta ajudar Marlen Reusser em todas as etapas, como "um braço direito para a nossa líder".  Nove etapas A Volta Ciclística feminina da França é disputada em nove etapas, uma por dia, variando em distância, altitude e formato. A mais curta é a quarta etapa, um contrarrelógio individual de 21 km entre Gevrey-Chambertin e Dijon; a mais longa é a oitava, entre Sisteron e Nice, com cerca de 172 km. O ponto mais alto da prova é o temido Monte Ventoux, com 1.910 metros de altitude, na chegada da sétima etapa.  Tota explica que o começo da prova vai ser difícil de encarar: “São três etapas técnicas e duras. No começo do Tour está tudo muito mais nervoso, a classificação geral ainda está em aberto, então todo mundo ainda tem esperança de poder brigar pela vitória.”  “Logo depois a gente tem um contrarrelógio, que é a especialidade da Marlen, campeã mundial. Então a gente espera que ali a gente consiga estar com uma [camisa] amarela, quem sabe sonhar com isso”, conta a ciclista.  Enquanto o torneio masculino se tornou há muito tempo o maior evento esportivo do país, o ciclismo feminino ainda está construindo seu público. Acho que, aos poucos, se tudo der certo, a gente vai abrir mais caminhos." Entrada no álbum de figurinhas da competição Neste ano, a brasileira ganhou ainda mais visibilidade ao aparecer no álbum oficial de figurinhas da prova feminina e não escondeu a emoção quando uma seguidora lhe enviou uma foto da página. "Fiquei em choque, até porque são só três meninas por equipe no álbum feminino. É basicamente um álbum masculino, com uma parte dedicada ao feminino, e cada equipe tem três atletas, e eu sou uma delas. Acho que é uma responsabilidade para o meu país saber que estou tentando abrir portas. É um peso de uma responsabilidade, mas que fico muito feliz de estar carregando”, disse Tota.  A competição vai ser difícil. No topo da classificação para essa temporada está a francesa Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, do time Visma, que venceu a prova no ano passado. Também se destaca a holandesa Demi Vollering, que ficou em segundo lugar em 2025. E, neste ano, Vollering venceu o Giro d'Itália, outra grande corrida de etapas do ciclismo mundial. Já Paula Blasi, ciclista espanhola, é considerada uma grande revelação da temporada. Ela venceu a Vuelta feminina em seu país natal neste ano.

Marlen Reusser kennt beides: Triumphe als Weltmeisterin und Europameisterin, gleichzeitig herbe Niederlagen wie Unfälle und Long Covid. Doch Leiden gehört für sie zum guten Leben dazu. Barbara Bleisch fragt nach, wie viel Schmerz die Leidenschaft erträgt und ob Talent verpflichtet. Marlen Reussers Karriere ist in vielerlei Hinsicht aussergewöhnlich: Trotz Kindheit auf dem Bauernhof zieht es sie zur Geige und bereits mit 14 Jahren wird sie Jungstudentin an der Hochschule der Künste in Bern. Später studiert sie Medizin, und als sie sich mit Mitte Zwanzig aufs Rad setzt, fährt sie kurz darauf allen davon. Erst als 27-Jährige wird sie Profisportlerin und holt im Zeitfahren praktisch alles, was es zu gewinnen gibt: nebst dem Weltmeistertitel auch viermal den Europameistertitel, die Olympia-Silbermedaille und zwei Tour de Suisse-Titel. Doch neben den grossen Triumphen kennt sie auch krachende Niederlagen, beispielsweise als sie ein WM-Rennen aufgibt, weil sie merkt, dass ihr an diesem Tag die Motivation fehlt. Ebenso werfen sie Unfälle und Krankheiten immer wieder zurück, besonders eine Long Covid-Erkrankung zwingt sie zu einer längeren Pause ohne zu wissen, ob sie je wieder gesunden wird. Mithilfe von Hypnose, wie sie sagt, kann sie die Krankheit schliesslich überwinden und gewinnt dadurch auch einen neuen Blick auf die Medizin und den Körper. Barbara Bleisch spricht mit der Ausnahmesportlerin über den Schmerz der Niederlage, über Grenzen im Kopf, den Rausch des Tempos und die Frage, ob Talent verpflichtet.
