This week's guest is one of the most remarkable we've ever welcomed to the GTCC. We are used to having guests who climb mountains - and, of course, G does it almost every day - but, well, not like this guy. Kilian Jornet is one of the most incredible athletes to ever walk this earth. Aged 24, he'd won basically every ultra endurance and trail race there is to win. Since then, he's secured his status as the greatest trail runner of all time by climbing and descending numerous major mountains in scarcely believable times. Most notably, he climbed Mount Everest twice in five days back in 2017. Completely alone and without supplementary oxygen or climbing ropes, Kilian tackled the world's highest peak and returned to Base Camp in 17 hours. And yes, you read that correctly. He did it twice in five days. He's also a huge cycling fan and loved chatting to G. We're sure you're going to enjoy this week's pod. In een nieuwe dosis borrelpraat vanuit de Vuelta staan Dylan van Baarle en Wout Poels uitgebreid stil bij de dominantie van Jumbo-Visma. ,,Het is af en toe wel een beetje vervelend", zegt Poels over de overmacht van het team van Van Baarle. ,,De podiumplekken lijken al te zijn vergeven, maar de dagsuccessen willen ze ook nog allemaal opsnoepen." Poels krijgt ook klachten vanuit andere ploegen over het tempo waarmee Van Baarle op kop rijdt, terwijl hij zelf aan den lijve heeft ondervonden dat aanvallers vaak maar weinig ruimte krijgen van de gele brigade. Toch kijkt ook Poels met vertrouwen uit naar de laatste week van de Vuelta. Hij heeft de rit naar de top van de Angliru omcirkeld voor zichzelf en zijn teamgenoot Santiago Buitrago, zelf derde in de vijftiende etappe, geeft hem ook een goede kans op een mooi individueel succes. Daarnaast speculeren de mannen over de afloop tussen de drie kopmannen van Jumbo-Visma, praten ze over de prestaties van Remco Evenepoel en Bauke Mollema en blikken ze vooruit op een 'off-season' vol mooie plannen. Hoewel Jumbo met Kuss, Vingegaard en Roglič de eerste drie plekken in het klassement bezet houdt, was het de afgelopen dagen vooral Remco Evenepoel die de aandacht op zich wist te vestigen. Eerst was er vrijdag het dramatische verlies van 27 minuten op de Tourmalet, op zaterdag gevolgd door een etappeoverwinning. De Belg probeerde dat kunstje zondag te herhalen, maar bleek toch uiteindelijk ook menselijk. Wel is duidelijk dat de rittenkapers er een geduchte concurrent bij hebben nu de winnaar van vorig jaar niet meer voor het algemeen klassement gaat.  Met het wegvallen van Evenepoel is de vraag wanneer de strijd tussen de drie J's gaat ontbranden. Joost vraagt zich af of high-fives tussen de drie kopmannen van Jumbo oprecht zijn of theater. Maxim denkt het laatste. Maarten vindt dat Kuss van de drie de beste indruk maakt, maar sluit niet dat Roglič een stunt gaat uithalen, bijvoorbeeld komende woensdag met een vroege ontsnapping in aanloop naar de monsterlijke Angliru. "Ja, lekker zou dat zijn.", zegt Roxane Knetemann. "Het klopt wel maar het is niet in orde," vult Maarten Ducrot aan. Kortom: komende week wordt vuurwerk.

De berg in het weelderig groene Asturië is nu al favoriet bij heel veel wielerfans.
