After 22+ years of coaching at the D-I level, Coach Bewley stepped out of his previous coaching role as Director of Basketball Strength & Conditioning at Clemson University and joined PLAE in July as their Global Director of Performance and Education. Clemson University Head Coach Brad Brownell hired Bewley before the 2016-17 basketball season to advance the Tigers' efforts in the weight room. That decision came to fruition when the Tigers advanced to the 2018 Sweet 16 after being picked second to last to finish in the ACC, capping only the fourth time in school history; the Tigers made a Sweet 16 appearance. Also, Bewley helped the Tigers win Basketball Gold in the FISU University World Games, beat three Top-5 teams in a single season, and snapped a 59-game losing streak to beat the Tar Heels at Chapel Hill. Before his Clemson tenure, Bewley was Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning for the Yellow Jackets from 2012-16, helping Georgia Tech to the National Invitation Tournament's quarterfinals (NIT) in March 2016. He was charged with implementing athletic performance and sports nutrition programs for Georgia Tech men's basketball and men's tennis in four seasons. Before his appointment in Atlanta, Bewley was the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for Basketball & Golf at the University of Dayton from 2005-12. During his tenure, Bewley helped the Dayton Flyers Basketball programs experience improved and sustained success. The men's team captured an NCAA Tournament Appearance to the Round of 32 (2009) and an NIT National Championship (2010). In the same period, the women's team seized an A-10 Conference Tournament Championship (2012), three NCAA Tournament Appearances (2010, 2011, 2012), with one advancing to the Round of 32 (2010). Bewley also served as the Specialist in Sports Nutrition at Dayton. Before his tenure with the Flyers, Bewley spent 2002-06 as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach and Specialist in Sports Nutrition at Georgia Southern University. He developed and implemented athletic performance programs for baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball while in Statesboro. Bewley is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, earning a bachelor's degree in physical education. Bewley earned a master's degree in educational leadership as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach at the University of Nevada. So if your child becomes injured or sick and can’t play, you get your fees reimbursed for that lost time, from one game to an entire season. It’s that simple. In this episode of the Pacey Performance Podcast, I am speaking to Director of Performance Nutrition and Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the New York Giants, Pratik Patel. Pratik blends two roles at the Giants which is something I haven't encountered in the UK before, however it makes complete sense that someone on the nutrition side should have an in depth knowledge of physical preparation. This was a unique podcast and one that even those with no experience or in depth knowledge of nutrition can find real benefit in listening to. Enjoy. Who is Pratik Patel (education, background and current role) The current state of sports nutrition in America/College Sports/Pro Sports How roles have evolved for Sports Dietitians How a Sports Dietitian functions in a High Performance environment with a High Performance Team (and also at the professional level) The more non-traditional Sports Dietitian roles (dual roles) that are becoming more common in sports Similarities and parallels S&C and Nutrition in terms of using coaching cues to teach/educate Macro periodisation as it pertains to the NFL calendar Current sports nutrition trends and their implementation Vegetarianism/veganism with athletes Pratik can be found on Twitter @Pratik7Patel This episode of the Pacey Performance Podcast is sponsored by FirstBeat, the leading provider of physiological analytics for sports. In Episode 013 of the D&D Fitness Radio Podcast, we speak with Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Ryan Reynolds. When not being mistaken for a Hollywood actor, Ryan works on a daily basis with some of the top athletes in the NFL including Travis Kelce, Justin Houston, Tyreek Hill, Eric Barry and Kareem Hunt. We speak directly with Ryan about the details around working with ultra-talented athletes – some of whom train extremely hard throughout the year, while others may simply be thriving and surviving on superior genetics and talent. There are also many constraints involved with working in professional sports as a Strength and Conditioning coach including the limited contact time with the athletes in the off-season. At the same time, strength coaches experience significant scrutiny by management, the coaching staff and the general public because of the physical nature of the game of football.Ryan previously worked as a strength coach at UCLA football, Arizona State University, University of Louisville and the University of Iowa before joining the Chiefs a few years ago. We look forward to seeing how the team does in the upcoming season. You can reach Ryan via email at:RReynolds@Chiefs.nfl.comYou can follow Ryan via on Instagram at:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ryankreynolds/The D&D Fitness Radio podcast is available at the following locations for downloadable audio, including: iTunes – https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d-d-fitness-radio-podcast/id1331724217https://www.iheart.com/podcast/dd-fitness-radio-28797988/Spreaker.com – https://www.spreaker.com/show/d-and-d-fitness-radios-showYou can reach both Don and Derek at the following locations: Don Saladino: http://www.DonSaladino.com Twitter and Instagram - @DonSaladino YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/donsaladino Derek M.
