Ever since 2016, Perry's consumption of an absolutely staggering amount of food has captured the attention of a vast audience and earned him worldwide fame. But on the other side of fame is a different story altogether and after having posted videos of himself binge-eating nearly every day for the past few years, viewers are finally starting to become concerned over Avocado's health. On top of his physical health concerns, fans have also begun to worry about his mental state after a feud with fellow Mukbang YouTubers got out of hand and a collaborator of his would accuse him of abusive behavior. Despite his fan's many valid concerns over his well-being, Nikocado has continued to push himself to dangerous extremes. If you'd like to learn more about just how dark celebrities can sometimes get, then join us as we dive in to our newest episode of The Dark Side of Fame.

In the final episode of Series 1 of Womenkind Collective Jinty and Lou celebrate the amazing guests and topics that we have met throughout our first Series. We also delve into boob talk, would you #frretheboob as Gillian Anderson has? We talk about the original girl gang, The Pink Ladies as Paramount announce this week they are making a prequel to Grease centered on the Pink Ladies. Why did male police officers dressed as postal workers handcuff an undressed female student in her bedroom? And we find out what the Collective loved most about Series 1 and listen again to some beautiful tips for life from our guests.   Boobs… is it time to free the boob as Gillian Anderson is encouraging women to do? We look into the pros and cons of free boobing and discuss the (intentional) under-boob look that is hot for this summer ???   Kill the Bill and Sarah Everard – what have we learned from a vigil, a demonstration and the right for a voice? The Collective discuss Katie McGoran a student who endured being handcuffed in her bedroom whilst undressed by 4 male police officers.   The Book Collective continues with Marvellous's story in ‘A year of Marvellous Ways', by Sarah Winman. We read out some beautiful lines that resonate and find that we manage to easily segue from Marvellous to vagina tightening…! Only at Womenkind Collective would you get this much diverse conversation!   Continuing with Brain Food for our Foodie Collective we give you the Neuro 6 Chilli (recipe below) So how did Lou do with her WI? And did Jinty enjoy her Strawberry jam challenge?   The Wine Collective pops their corks on the Mionetto prosecco and the non-alcoholic Belle & Co on a balmy evening in the garden.   We close the Collective this series with comments, and tips from our amazing Collective and some of the fantastic guests that we have enjoyed on the podcast.   Thank you joining us throughout the first Series of Womenkind Collective, if you haven't yet listened to them all why not catch up before Series 2 begins on Sunday 22nd August. Did you know that poppies were Christopher Lloyd's his favorite flower?  In his short essay about poppies, he introduces 'Goliath' poppies which grow to 4 feet tall and offer the largest blooms of any poppy.   Lloyd wrote about the blooms saying, "They are rich crimson, which is as exciting as scarlet. In choosing plant neighbors to vie with it, I have been best pleased with an equally bright and pure yellow giant buttercup. Ranunculus acris ‘Stevenii.’ It is, however, shocking to discover that there are some gardeners (and non -gardeners) of congenitally weak and palsied constitution who do not like strong colors and who even pride themselves, as a class apart, on their good taste. The good-taste brigade can only think comfortably in terms of color harmonies and of soft and soothing pastel shades." Oh, how it pains the heart to be called out by Christopher Lloyd, doesn't it? Well, even though he thinks we're too meek when it comes to color in the garden, we are in violent agreement when it comes to procurement. You'll love this little snippet about how he came to own the poppy "Beauty Queen": "I took a fancy to ‘Beauty Queen’ in a friend’s garden in Scotland in June, when it was flowering, and received permission to take a piece. When you see a plant that you must have, the answer to the question “Would you like some at the right time? should be “I’d rather have it now,” right time or not. Otherwise, the right time will surely slip by, the transference of the coveted piece from central Scotland to the south of England (or from California to Maine) will be in convenient, and all you’ll have is a gnawing gap in the pit of your wish-world."   Brevities #OTD  It was on this day in 1703 that Daniel Defoe was made to stand in the pillory in front of the temple bar.  The pillory was basically a stockade; the hands and head would be caught between two large beams of wood. It was a horrible punishment. It was usually reserved for the most hideous crimes. When Dafoe was convicted of sedition, the crowds did their best to show their support; they threw flowers at his feet instead of mud.   The image of Defoe standing with his head and hands in the stocks surrounded by an adoring audience was memorialized in an 1862 painting.    In 1830, a biography of Defoe said that the stocks were adorned with garlands and that drinks were provided to celebrate Dafoe's release.     #OTD It’s the birthday of Mary Vaux Walcott born in Philadelphia today in 1860. Gardeners know Walcott for her work as a botanical illustrator; she created meticulously accurate watercolors of plants and flowers. She is known as the "Audobon of botany". Walcott became an illustrator one summer after being challenged to paint a rare blooming Arnica. Although her effort was only a modest success, it encouraged her to pursue the art. In that pursuit, she met Charles Doolittle Walcott. They were both doing fieldwork in the Canadian Rockies and they found they were equally yoked. They married the following year. At the time, Charles was the secretary of the Smithsonian; that's how Walcott came to develop the Smithsonian process printing technique. Walcott created hundreds of illustrations of the native plants of North America. Her five volume set entitled North American Wildflowersshowcases the stunning beauty of everyday wildflowers, many of which are at peak bloom right now. In addition to her work as a botanist, Mary was a successful glacial geologist and photographer. She was the first woman to summit a peak over 10,000 feet in Canada when she tackled Mount Stephen. Today Walcott even has a mountain named after her in Jasper - Mount Mary Vaux.     #OTD   Today’s the anniversary of the death of Richard Morris Hunt who was an American architect during the gilded age.   Gardeners know Hunt for his collaborations with the Frederick Law Olmsted. They worked together on the Vanderbilt mausoleum and the Chicago world‘s fair. Their ultimate collaboration occurred in Asheville, North Carolina, where they worked together to design the gardens, house, and manor village for the Biltmore estate.   Hunt is often recognized as theDean of American Architecture. He was the first American trained at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.    Although Hunt and Olmsted had history, they clashed over Hunt's design for the southern entrance to Central Park.   Hunt had won the competition to design it, but Olmsted and Vaux balked when they saw Hunt's glorious plan.   For the main entrance at Fifth Avenue, Hunt had designed what he called the Gate of Peace. It included a circular fountain within a square parterre.    The most magnificent part of his plan, was a semi circular terrace with a 50 foot column featuring a sailor and a Native American holding up the cities arms. At the base of the column was to be a monument to Henry Hudson. It involved a pool of water featuring Neptune in his chariot and Henry Hudson standing on the prowl of a ship. On the back side, there was a memorial to Christopher Columbus.   Thinking the public would embrace his grand vision, Hunt made the decision to promote his designs for the park all on his own.   But Hunt did not appreciate Vaux's is power. Although privately Vaux said that Hunt's plans were "splendid and striking"; publicly he told a friend they were, "what the country had been fighting against... Napoleon III in disguise all over. Vaux summarized that Hunt's designs were, "not American but the park was."    Ironically, in 1898, a memorial was erected in Central Park to honor Richard Morris Hunt.   The memorial is located on the eastern perimeter of the park and it was created by the same man who created the monument to Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial: Daniel Chester French.   When he was alive, Hunt wanted to elevate the publics taste in design and the arts, but he was also flexible enough to meet them where they were. It was Richard Maurice Hunter who said, "The first thing you've got to remember is that it's your clients' money you're spending. Your goal is to achieve the best results by following their wishes. If they want you to build a house upside down standing on its chimney, it's up to you to do it."     #OTD  It was on this day in 1972 that the horticulture program at the Smithsonian Gardens was established by Sydney Dylan Ripley who was the secretary of the Smithsonian. An American ornithologist and conservationist, as a child Ripley had been inspired by the area around the Louvre in France. He had hoped to make the Smithsonian a bustling area with activities for visitors and tourists. The purpose for the establishment of the horticultural services division was to provide landscaping  in and around the Smithsonian museums. In 2010, the horticultural program was renamed the Smithsonian Gardens to recognize the role that the gardens play in the visitor experience.         Unearthed Words Here's a poem by Robert Frost called ‘Lodged’.  This is a short garden poem. In six little lines, Frost connects himself to the flowers in the flowerbed, pelted by wind and rain; yet through it all, managing to survive. The rain to the wind said, 'You push and I'll pelt.' They so smote the garden bed That the flowers actually knelt, And lay lodged--though not dead. I know how the flowers felt.   Today's book recommendation: Gardenista: The Definitive Guide to Stylish Outdoor Spaces by Michelle Slatalla    Slatella's book was named "the best gift book for gardeners" by the New York Times book review.   The book was put together by the team responsible for Gardenista and Remodelista. It’s chockfull of hundreds of design tips and easy DIY‘s. It features 100 classic garden objects and a landscape primer with tips from the pros.   It’s a fantastic resource for folks hoping to get Garden Design 101 tips from the best and most creative in the business.     Today's Garden Chore Check for overcrowding and overall areas of meh. Garden chores tend to get pushed aside this time of year. But it's worth spending a little time this week looking closely at the overall appearance of your beds, borders and containers. Take your camera with you to document what you see. If the beds are both crowded and unattractive, you'll probably need to do a bit of pruning and transplanting to whip those beds into shape for the remainder of the season.   Something Sweet  Reviving the little botanic spark in your heart   Today is National Avocado Day.   Avocado is a fruit and it was originally called an alligator pear by Sir Hans Sloane in 1696.   And, Guinness has the largest avocado recorded at 5 pounds 6 1/2 ounces.   Don’t forget that the skin of an avocado can be toxic to cats and dogs - but the flesh of an avocado is actually higher in potassium than bananas.   Now, the next time the price of avocados gets you down, remember that avocados are harvested by hand. Pickers need to use a 16-foot pole to reach the hanging fruit.   And, finally, here’s a little fun fact about avocados:   The conquistadors used  avocado seeds to write.   It turns out, the avocado seed produces a milky liquid that changes to the color red when exposed to air.     Thanks for listening to the daily gardener, and remember: "For a happy, healthy life, garden every day."

He wants the real experience of going to a barbershop in questionable areas, such as getting his car stolen, and he wants really bad beer, not a coffee. EARL’s Kitchen Gardens (http://www.earlskitchengardens.com)  now services over four dozen residences, three schools, as well as a summer camp for at-risk girls. Tell me about your first gardening experience? Being with Dad who shared his love of nature. Youngest of 8 kids and home with dad a lot. What does organic gardening/earth friendly mean to you? As a teenager,  NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School)  (http://www.nols.edu) –  learned about “No Trace Camping” Working in harmony with nature, encouraging biodiversity, following the rhythm of the seasons, working with the land not against it, these things are all so important if we are going to have a healthy ecosystem and something we are going leave behind for future generations. Who or what inspired you to start using organic techniques? In high school brother started an organic vegetable and poultry farm. Went to University Rhode Island and there is tons of agricultural land there. Worked in a conventional farm for about a week everything was just a number, no integrity and wasteful. Found Green View Farm and loved it and got to learn the soup to nuts including installing deer fencing, tapping a water source, ways to irrigat  e the property, seeding, creating soil mixes, harvesting and distributing through CSA … How did you learn how to garden organically? By learning about practicing what she learned on farm, although gardening is a bit different then farming. Tell us about something that grew well this year. Heirloom tomatoes – 6 different kinds. The Queen of Tomatoes – Cherokee Purple, Black Prince, Straight German, Moskvich. Is there something you would do different next year or want to try/new? Personally more shelling beans, and water barrels to help heat hoop house. Fruit trees, figs and herbs and perennial plantings for clients. Cold frames to extend seasons. Tell me about something that didn’t work so well this season. One of the biggest challenges is empty spaces that creates a lot of hand weeding. Steve Ritz from the  Green Bronx Machine (http://greenbronxmachine.org) Something that you find is easy to grow and is generally successful every-time. Cucumbers – prolific. Swiss chard. Lettuce. Start with just 3-4 things you want to grow and then add something a year later. Something you would steer new gardeners away from that you find is typically challenging to grow in your climate. People who have never grown food before want to grow Avacado trees. Italian zucchini – A cucuzza, or gagootz. A zuccini that grows on 50 foot vine! Fruits/zukes are like 3-5 feet. Tell us about the best crop you ever grew. Tomatoes. Make a priority to prune and inspect and overly nurture tomatoes plants. Last year grew lots of hot peppers – jalapeños, habaneros, ghost peppers … and eggplants. Eggplant tip – start inside as early as possible and then put out as early as possible for long growing season… pull of leaves, prune to get more flowers, fish emulsion and chicken manure produce a lot of leaf and not a lot of fruit. Trace minerals are important – oyster shells and crush them to boost calcium. Need to watch NPK. What is the best gardening advice you have ever received? At GreenView Garden boss was a sous chef and grew for restaurants. Would pick baby squash. He would say “Soft hands.” Work with nature don’t work against it. Which activity is your least favorite activity to do in the garden. Shutting it down. Would love to have all gardens growing 4 seasons. What is your favorite activity to do in the garden. Looking at it at the end of the day and thinking about what to do different in the following year. A favorite tool that you like to use? If you had to move and could only take one tool with you what would it be. My shovel because it is everything … it can scrape boots,... Support this podcast

Thank you for joining us again on Part 2 of this weekend's Cabral #HouseCall! We've got more amazing questions from our community and I'm looking forward to answering those right now on today's show: Jim: I work in the nuclear power industry. I am subjected to random drug testing. Would CBD oil or any of your other supplements test positive? My livelihood has been very good to me and I would not want to loose my job over these supplements. I also have had great success with the ketogenic diet. I lost 60 Pounds and have kept it off for about 1.5 years. I am vertically pain free most of the time. When I work out or do physical work I recover very quickly..no pain. I was on medication for a slow thyroid for 10 years and I was able to stop. I do not count non- starchy vegetables against my carb ?limits. So I do eat 6-8 cups of salad/ cruciferous veggies almost daily. I going to try meatless Mondays. I stick with healthy fats . Avacado oils, Olive oils. Moderate protein. I look forward to listening to your show on my way to work each morning. I feel like you care about us even though we have never met. God bless you, Jim Dave: CBD. I just ordered the trial size for my son who lives in CA. He suffers from anxiety. I live in Canada. I suffer from psoriatic arthritis which was triggered by colon cancer surgery in December 2015. Psoriasis is in my family. I have lost about 40% use of my legs. Getting out a chair, climbing stairs, golfing and snow skiing are difficult and sometimes impossible tasks. I am 68 years old. In your podcast you mention that CBD helps with psoriasis and arthritis. Do you think it would provide help for me? I am going to a PSA Clinic this Friday at Toronto Western Hospital for a second opinion. My Rheumatologist since February 2016 has me on a combination of Methotrexate and Otezla which, is working, but after 14 months, I am no where near able to tee it up again. Thank you Lindsey: Hi Stephen, I randomly get the odd dark hair growing out from all different areas but they are v noticeable on my pale skin and my other body hair is blonde. Why would this happen? Thank you for being my no 1 podcast! Ciara: Hi Dr. Stephen, I have a question related to some hair loss that I've been experiencing for about 2.5 years now. I'm a 35 year old female and I noticed a few years ago that my hair was thinning around my hairline and it's mainly occurring on the left side of my head. It's not consistent, as I've noticed that it's pretty stagnant right now. I thought that it may be related to stress, as there is no known instances of hair loss in my family; however, I have noticed that my mother's hairline on all sides has dramatic thinning (she's 59). She told me that it's probably from years of pulling her hair back. My hair is otherwise healthy (no shedding, breakage, etc.). I've been to two Dermatologists and have visited with an Endocrinologist, in which I was instructed to have the following test done with results: Lab Results to Date: TSH = < 0.02 (low) (from 2016) Free T4 = 1.35 Free T3 = 189 (high) FE (Iron) = 163 Ferritin = 34 (low) Vitamin D = 20.4 TSH = 0.5 (from 2012) Initially, it was thought that I may have an issue with my thyroid and I have requested to have a full panel of thyroid labs performed with no luck (e.g. thyroid antibodies, etc.). The Dermatologist instructed me to up my intake of iron for 3 months (325 mg of Ferrous Sulfate), as my Ferritin levels were low. The Endocrinologist instructed me to up my vitamin D intake (I now take 5000 IU daily; my levels are typically low in winter) and continue to monitor my TSH levels, which have been consistently low (zero was the result from my last 3 panels of blood work as it relates to this case; past results have been optimal). The Endocrinologist has also stated that it's not uncommon for TSH levels to be low (I am not OK with this response) and since my Free T4 and Free T3 levels are optimal, with no known symptoms other than hair loss (low energy levels, weight gain/loss, etc.), I've been instructed to continue to evaluate my levels every 3-6 months. As there has been no resolve, my Dermatologist has suggested a scalp biopsy as a last result. I'm not going through this process, as I would like to look into this a bit deeper. Do you have any insight and/or suggestions as to what I should do going forward? Is there any specific lab work that I should have performed? I would love to come into your facility; however, I'm unable to afford any services, as your facility does not accept health insurance. Very much looking forward to hearing back from you. All the best, Ciara Anna: Hello! Love your show. Can you use CBD oil if you are breastfeeding? Baby is 7 months old. Also is using an infrared sauna ok for a breastfeeding mother? Thanks :) Anna Aliana: I have recently been diagnosed with hsv1 and 2 and have been doing a lot of research on how to get rid of it. There are people out there that believe you can if you rid your body of excess heavy metals, have excellent nutrition and using pure oregano oil. Have you had any experience with this and do you believe it could work? I hope you enjoyed this weekend's community Q & A's and be sure to tune in for tomorrow's Motivation & Mindset Monday! - - - Show Notes: http://StephenCabral.com/478 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral

Worried you might be starting your baby off on the wrong foot by weaning onto all the foods that ended up causing you so much trouble? Are you tired (or frightened) of stick blenders, ice cub trays and sippy cups? Are your instincts telling you "there must be a better way to wean"? The minimalist approach to baby-led weaning Cara and Julia discuss in this interview is both simple and effective, listen in and then send us your questions! Here’s the outline of this interview with Julia Kelly and Cara Champeny: [00:00:18] Both Julia and Cara have been through the paleo baby weaning process. [00:00:53] Cara, like me, has had her own personal health issues that were resolved by a paleo-type diet. [00:01:44] Cara's older son Wills was weaned in the usual way (onto cereal grains). [00:02:36] Wills also ended up with GI issues. [00:02:58] Cara was sure she wanted to do things differently with her youngest daughter, Maisie. [00:04:02] Baby-led weaning. [00:04:15] Avoiding exposure you things you'd rather they didn't develop a palette for. [00:04:43] Babies shouldn't need special food. [00:05:39] Creating problems for yourself. [00:06:00] Confidence and being different. [00:06:27] Cara is able to get her own way at home when it comes to food. [00:07:23] Julie initially looked to The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care. [00:08:16] Trading one dogma for another. [00:08:29] Trust your instincts. [00:09:37] The NT book was way too regimented. [00:09:55] Julia waited until Ivy was sitting upright. [00:10:24] Letting baby use their gums. [00:11:37] Cara thought Maisie would be ready for food at 6 months, not so. [00:12:40] Ivy was properly eating food at 8-10 months. [00:13:12] You shouldn't need to prop them up for feeding. [00:13:43] Introducing something other than sweet. [00:14:04] The window of opportunity, [00:14:23] Ivy started eating whole fruit age 2-3 years. [00:15:02] Ivy loved holding things, e.g. a lamb chop bone. [00:16:02] Gagging vs choking. [00:17:18] Maisie got really good at "gagging food forward". [00:19:50] Pre chewing food at 8-9 months. [00:21:25] Wild Planet Wild Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. [00:21:32] US Wellness Meats. We particularly enjoy their liverwurst, braunschweiger, head cheese and pemmican. [00:22:12] Pre chewing donates digestive enzymes. [00:23:40] Maisie loves meat, loved pre chewed food. [00:24:30] Could the absence of meat early cause aversions later? [00:27:05] Simplifying things in the kitchen. [00:28:04] Real food negates the need to worry about excess salt. [00:29:36] Looking for the most nutrient dense foods possible. [00:29:57] Special "stuff" for parents. [00:30:57] Skip the mesh things, they're too hard to clean. [00:31:22] Breast feeding is as easy as it gets, bottles and pumping are hard. [00:32:06] No sippy cups. [00:32:21] Klean Kanteen. [00:32:42] Throwing out the daily schedule to reduce stress. [00:34:13] Eating larger meals less frequently with a lot of fat. [00:34:58] Eating for sustained energy and stable blood sugar. [00:35:27] Ivy tended towards a 4-day cycle, eating more some days, less on others. [00:36:05] Don't force feed. [00:36:28] The importance of mindfulness. [00:38:17] Emotional attachment to food. [00:38:47] It Starts With Food (but doesn't end with food) [00:39:53] Try not to project your own wants or needs onto the child. [00:40:51] Surviving birthday parties. [00:52:00] Squash and yam. [00:52:10] Homemade jerky. [00:52:30] Maisie loves fruit. [00:52:51] Grain-, Gluten-, and Guilt-Free Pancakes by Chris Kresser.
