#235 How AI Is Transforming Accounts Receivable with Ben Winter and Jeff Martini https://open.spotify.com/episode/0mxBSzi1Gzvigoo9manusQ In this insightful episode of The GrowCFO Show, host Kevin Appleby explores how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing accounts receivable processes with guests Jeff Martini, CFO at Bishop Lifting, and Ben Winter, Co-Founder at Stuut. The conversation delves into the practical applications of AI in finance departments, particularly focusing on accounts receivable automation and the tangible benefits organizations are experiencing through implementation  The discussion highlights how AI is moving beyond simple chatbot functionality to transform entire AR processes, with Jeff sharing his company's experience implementing AI-driven solutions that handle routine collection tasks while allowing human collectors to focus on more complex dispute resolutions. Ben provides valuable insights on the importance of focusing on business outcomes rather than technology features, emphasizing that accounts receivable is ultimately a revenue function that impacts customer experience. Both guests stress the importance of understanding AI's capabilities and limitations to ensure successful implementation and meaningful results.  Key topics covered: AI implementation in accounts receivable is most successful when focused on specific business outcomes rather than implementing technology for its own sake Modern AI solutions can effectively handle three common collection scenarios: confirming payment, securing promises to pay, and sending requested documentation Human collectors remain essential for handling disputes and complex scenarios, with AI serving as a tool to enhance their capabilities rather than replace them Successful AI implementation requires coordination across departments including sales, account management, and fulfillment teams The rapid advancement of AI technology presents challenges for CFOs trying to stay current with capabilities, requiring trusted partnerships with technology providers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb12TtUmSJ0 Links Ben Winter on LinkedIn Jeff Martini on LinkedIn Kevin Appleby on LinkedIn GrowCFO Mentoring Timestamps 0:00:11 Kevin Appleby introduces the episode topic on how CFOs are adopting AI in finance functions 0:13:47 Ben Winter discusses how AI adoption has evolved from technology-focused to outcome-focused implementations 0:18:29 Kevin raises the challenge of CFOs keeping up with rapidly advancing AI capabilities 0:26:29 Discussion on how AI provides additional insights by analyzing customer communications to identify reasons for late payments 0:43:31 Exploration of how AI is transforming accounts receivable beyond manual processes to provide actionable insights Find out more about GrowCFO If you enjoyed this podcast, you can subscribe to the GrowCFO Show with your favorite podcast app. The GrowCFO show is listed in the Apple podcast directory, Spotify and many others. Welcome to Mysteries to Die For and this Toe Tag.I am TG Wolff and am here with Jack, my piano player and producer. This is normally a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you at the heart of mystery. Today is a bonus episode we call a Toe Tag. It is the first chapter from a fresh release in the mystery, crime, and thriller genre.Today's featured release is Black & White by Justin M. Kiska TG Wolff ReviewBlack & White is a mystery. This story is told in two times. Then was 1945. Stride agency investigator Francis “Fitz” Mason is hired by a retired US Ambassador to find the daughter who disappeared while dressing for her wedding. Now is 1985. Park City Police Detective Sergeant Ben Winters and Detective Tommy Mason are called to the scene of a woman's body discovered in a field. She's young, beautiful, and frozen solid. Winters and Mason take up the case where Uncle Fitz left off forty years ago. Bottom line: Black & White is for you if you like mysteries driven by classic detectives, both cop and private investigator. Strengths of the story. Black & White moves back and forth between the 1945 kidnapping case and the 1985 suspicious death case. The movement between the two periods are distinct, staying in each period for multiple chapters, with distinct indication of the change. The 1945 story features PI Fitz Mason with a cast mixing the local rich and famous with local cops covering their own butts. The story is a solid kidnapping mystery with the who, why, and how largely making sense. Former ambassador Conrad Martin's daughter, Lillian, went missing the morning of her wedding. Someone carried her out of her father's mansion dressed in her wedding gown. The character of Fitz Mason is of the classic, heroic cut and is easy to cheer for. The supporting characters of Ambassador Martin, younger sister Lucy, the valet Joe Grainger, and police chief Buchanan are also well developed, three-dimensional characters who you can like, hate, laugh at, and sympathize for.The 1985 story features police detectives Ben Winter and his partner and friend Tommy Mason. Childhood friends, they grew up listening to Uncle Fitz's case stories. The suspicious death is intriguing. The who, why, and how are built off the 1945 case, so, while it has equal weight in the book, it feels secondary. Even in writing this review, I'm being careful to not reveal anything that would detract from your enjoyment. This is the fourth book for Ben and Tommy, so they have the history and depth of established characters. The supporting characters are more typical of police procedurals, being effective, informative, and often entertaining. The scene setting in both 1945 and 1985 are distinctively drawn using language, clothing, and period appropriate relationships between father and daughters, men and women. I felt transported to 1945. The 1985 language was not very different from now. The biggest “feel” for the mid-80s came from Tommy looking and dressing like the original Magnum P.I.Fitz does an excellent job of driving his story. He investigated, picked up the clues, and drove it to the next point, then the next point, etc. Ben and Tommy are more traditional cops, acting on information given to them by the evidence clerk, forensics, etc and ushering the story point to point. Where the story fell short of ideal: To enable the two stories to be told simultaneously, the modern story had to be slowed down, so it didn't give away the historic story. But in doing that the modern story felt to me like it was idling, sometimes waiting until Fitz made a move before Ben and Tommy took a step forward. The logic on the kidnapping, as I said, largely made sense. However, Lillian was knocked out and carried out of a mansion busy with wedding preparation without being seen. While Fitz was...

This week's adventure is taken in the company of Ben Winter, the author of the books ‘Living Unscripted’ and ‘What to Expect When Having Expectations’. He has been an improvisational actor and has taught improv in business for over 10 years. Taylor and Ben talk about improvisation as the skill of living, how it gives you freedom and opens your world to confidence. As well as that, there’s a daring story about diving in the Galapagos. KEY TAKEAWAYS We’re surrounded by people all the time, in the home, at work, we’re not the only one ‘on the stage’, so we have to take them into account as well. We can’t learn an entire day’s script and memorise it in 5 minutes, we have to improvise our day, we don’t know what questions are going to come up. At some point the script could go to the wayside and you can improvise your way back to the script and if you don’t understand how improvisation works it can be frustrating, but if you understand how it works it can be a lot of fun. I teach improve in companies mainly for team building but it also helps with company culture, it helps with productivity, brainstorming, so many aspects because too often people do team building stuff that divides a team rather than brings them together, improv as a whole provides a foundation for everybody to work from. One of the rules of improv is ‘be specific’. It’s about setting expectations, providing enough information so people understand what you’re saying, where you’re going with it, why your train of thought is what it is. As I explored that more and more I realised the the reason a lot of people get upset is because an expectation hasn’t been met, so I created a flow chart to solve it. I don’t remember much of the dive in the Galapagos, except being very afraid because I couldn’t keep up. But, I have no regrets because it was scary but I did it and I can say that I’ve been to the Galapagos and I’ve SCUBA dived there and not too many people can say that. BEST MOMENTS ‘One of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves is to BE in the present.’ ‘Find the game within the game.’ ‘Once you understand the rules it opens up the door to more fun and a better life.’ ‘Even if you have no expectations, you now have an expectation about having no expectations.’ ‘Improv is a no-lose scenario, people will think “at least they tried” if you fail, if you’re amazing people will wonder “how did they do that?!”’ VALUABLE RESOURCE The Adventures Of Self Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.adventures.of.self/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The.Adventures.of.Self ABOUT THE GUEST Ben Winter is the founder and CEO of Success Improv, a business that provides a combination of personal growth and improv to improve areas of your life including business, relationships, family, social interactions, and much more. MIND WEALTH SUMMIT October 23 & 24, 2021 www.mindwealthsummit.com Ben brings us his expertise of what to expect from expectations. Expectations are not neither positive or negative.  What they are, is a great way to start communicating what you want in your life. One of the greatest defaults of expectations is the fear of expressing them. When your expectations are not communicated you feel all sorts of other emotions that come from an old wound or trauma. Ben and I get into the childhood of expectations and how we carry what we thought was good for us through our parents lenses into our adulthood. Practicing expectations is the only way to become confident in yourself. Bringing expectations in correlation with the 5 Love Languages and how you can create open dialogue between you and your spouse, family, friends, co-workers.  Ben shares with his the downfall of expectations and how our desired response is an expectation of another, rather than just accepting what is. Breaking it down from being upset to not having an expectation met, to pinpointing where the expectation is coming from and dissolving it, so that it doesn't take up more energy. “your expectation is completely unreasonable, unless you're willing to share your expectation with the other person. 'cause if it, if the expectation is only in your head, then the other person has no idea and they can't do anything to, to support your expectation of them.” Ben speaks about how good it is to have your expectations met once verbalized. While in the process of self-development and wanting to find a girlfriend, Ben shares his quick purchase of a course. Being in the process of healing his relationships and finding a girlfriend, been stumbled upon improv. Improv changed his life. It gave him more confidence, taught him how to live in the present moment, not worry about the future and drop expectations. We get into the conscious and subconscious mind and how it is always on, even when we are sleeping. Ben gives us tools and techniques on how to heal from relationships and your expectations. In this episode, I interview Ben Winter. Ben is the author of  "What to Expect when Having Expectations" and several other books, a Speaker, Actor, Improvist, Entrepreneur, Traveler, Father, and the list is still growing.  Ben talked about his early days of traveling to some of the world's most exotic places and how traveling shaped his mindset.  He recalled the situation that started him on his journey of personal growth, becoming a pilot, marriage, fatherhood, divorce and becoming an entrepreneur.  His biggest passion is exploring the mind. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to BEN WINTER about mens expecations, the pressure to become a better man, and what the world now expects from men.Ben certainly hasn't been idle in life. A couple of years out of college and he started doing things and going places he never would have expected. From traveling to personal growth to marriage and child to divorce and parenthood to entrepreneurialism and inspiring others. Ben has flown an airplane on his own and has been scuba diving in the Galapagos. He has seen the animals of Tanzania and has traveled all over Europe with a 6-month-old child in tow. He has performed improv for over a decade, acted in several plays, and even a movie. He has owned several businesses. His biggest passion is exploring the mind. In all of his personal growth work, the one constant was that it all stems from the mind. Between personal growth and improv, he found this weird realm called expectations. And while most people would shy away from such a thing, he decided to tackle it head-on. Along his journey, he decided that “the only reason anyone gets upset is because an expectation hasn't been met.” And begin teaching that in his Success Improv business. From there, he noticed that there has to be a way to use that upset feeling to fix the situation. And he created the amazing “How to stop being upset” flow chart. From there it was a simple step of taking everything that he has explored on the subject and put it in a book called, “What to Expect when Having Expectations.”BEN WINTER:https://havingexpectations.com------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb

The way we set our expectations often governs how we feel in many scenarios in our lives. We might feel down when our expectations aren't met, and on the other hand, setting reasonable expectations can lead to better outcomes. Ben Winter, Team Building Expert, Expectations Guru, and the founder and CEO of Success Improv, joins us today to explore how learning and implementing the rules of improv into every area of your life helps you become successful in life. From traveling to personal growth to marriage and child to divorce and parenthood to entrepreneurialism and inspiring others, Ben certainly hasn't been idle in life. A couple of years out of college and he started doing things and going places he never would have expected. He has seen the animals of Tanzania and has traveled all over Europe with a 6-month-old child in tow. He has performed improv for over a decade, acted in several plays and even a movie.  We talk about his ups and downs, the amazing experiences he's had, and what he learned from them.Between personal growth and improv, Ben found this weird realm called expectations. And while most people would shy away from such a thing, he decided to tackle it head-on.  Along his journey, he began teaching that in his Success Improv business. From there, he noticed that there has to be a way to use that upset feeling to fix the situation. And he created the amazing “How to stop being upset” flow chart that can be found on his website.Ben has over ten years of acting and improv experience. He has over 15 years of personal and professional growth experience, personal coaching and has owned several businesses, including Success Improv. As he calls himself, Captain Obvious, in short, grew up with the constant need to be right and have more information than the next guy. He is, in fact, getting better at not forcing that on other people keeping in mind what sometimes people say is subjective, which is why it doesn't really matter if they're wrong. [3:40] Unmet Expectations – Upon being asked about one of his statements regarding unmet expectations resulting in a person getting upset, Ben clearly explains how in most people he has observed, unmet expectations of any sort are the sole reason behind people being upset. [8:10] Set a Framework – Ben further delves deep into how expectations can help set a framework similar to setting a goal or boundary. He uses his very own example of setting a timeframe to finish the first or second draft of his novel. Hence, if he meets his goal of completing the first or second draft, he has successfully met his expectations; if not, it is when the problem of unmet expectation arises, explains Ben. [13:50] Unknown Expectations – Upon being asked to throw light on how rules or laws are effectively expectations by the host, Ben explains while unknown expectations are the ones you didn't see you had until it comes crashing down due to non-fulfillment, rules or laws as expectations are known expectations with clear known consequences. For instance, if you know that driving over the speed limit will give you a ticket. You should in no way be upset about getting a ticket when you're pulled over, he says. [18:55] Expectations are Unavoidable – Ben explains that when someone says they aren't going to have expectations, that then and there itself is clearly an expectation about expectations! Hence, he cleverly uses the most commonly occurring example to show how impossible it is to avoid expectations. [20:25] Improv Career – Upon being questioned about how improv makes communicating about expectations easier by the host, Ben explains it is all about learning the rules of improv, expectations of how improv works, and being able to follow them. [46:18] Combat Hate – In terms of combatting hate, Ben states that there's only one way to go about it, and that's to sit one-on-on with the people

In other words, the show must go on. We talked about expectations and how sometimes we don't even know that we have them. “In order to grow you sometimes have to look at it and see things you wish you didn't see but if you do not see it, you cannot change the reflection.” ~ Ben Winters Have you ever been disappointed because your expectations weren't met for something or by someone? If so, our guest today has simple reminders to help us navigate this emotional landmine and come out better on the other side. In this episode we talk about identifying our own expectations, communicating those expectations with others, and realizing that it is ok to be upset. But be careful with what you do with those emotions. Ben Winters is the co-founder of Success Improv and author of What to Expect When Having Expectations – Using the Anger of Unmet Expectations to Find Peace. His biggest passion is exploring the mind. In all of his personal growth work, the one constant was that it all stems from the mind. Between personal growth and Improv, he found the weird realm of expectations, finding that “the only reason anyone gets upset is because an expectation hasn't been met.” My business is called Success Improv, it's where I take those things that I have learned with Improv and enjoyed over my life with Improv and teach them to the masses. [03:39] Throughout the entirety of teaching, the word expectation kept coming up; the only reason someone gets upset is when an expectation hasn't been met. [03:55] How can we get upset with others, if we did not know we had an expectation, and didn't share with them? [05:03] What kind of things do you do at with people to make them work through their expectations? [6:43] Tell people it's okay to be upset because, often times in society we are told don't get upset. [06:56] The thing we suck at these days as a society is a thing called communication. [08:53] I think It's important we recognize what those expectations are, because if we don't recognize them before it's hard to communicate them effectively with other people. [10:42] Commercial Top Dog Learning Group LLC. [12:56] All personal growth is really somebody else holding up a mirror for you. [15:10] Most adults don't have realistic expectations. [17:58] The practice is practicing good behaviors that will lead to better outcomes. [18:08] You get upset, what process do you go through? [19;59] Einstein said, “you can't solve a problem at the same level it was created.” [20:05] Somebody asked me, if I were to die tomorrow would I have any regrets? [21:00] It is okay to get upset, don't let society say it is not and remember to not stay upset. Use it as a moment in time for an opportunity for growth. The My Future Business™ Show

My Future Business Show Interview With BEN WINTER #expectations #author #benwinter Hi, and welcome to the show! On today's My Future Business Show I have the pleasure of spending time with personal growth author, business owner, parent and entrepreneur, Ben Winter talking about expectations. Shortly after leaving college, Ben started travelling to places and doing things he never thought he'd be doing. He's flown an airplane on his own, and even scuba-dived in the Galapagos. He's been up close and personal with the animals of Tanzania and has travelled all over Europe with a 6-month-old child in tow. He has performed improv for over a decade, acted in several plays, and even in a movie. During this content rich call, Ben shares insights into the power of expectations, and explains that the reason why people get upset is because an expectation hasn't been met. Although this is so prevalent in today's society, in business, and as human beings in general, there is a way that you can turn those moments into opportunities. Ben has learnt that... “the only reason anyone gets upset is because an expectation hasn't been met.” With this knowledge, Ben started teaching this in his Success Improv business. Ben also noticed that there has to be a way to use that upset feeling to fix the situation. In turn, he has created the “How to stop being upset” flow chart, and coupled it with his results-driven book “What to Expect when Having Expectations.” If you want to understand where your expectations come from, what drives them, why you aren't always aware of them, how to come to peace after being upset by an expectation going unmet, and improving communication with yourself and others, then make sure to get your copy of "What to Expect when having Expectations".
