Inflammation is a term that often carries a negative connotation, as if it's bad for our health. But what if we told you that inflammation is actually a crucial and beneficial process in our bodies? In this episode, we discuss the two types of inflammation: acute and chronic, while challenging the common negative perception of inflammation. Inflammation is simply the body's natural response to injury, stress, or infection, directing blood flow to repair damaged cells and restore health. We will discuss the RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) method for acute injuries and explain why this might not be the best strategy to take. Listen to learn more about supporting the body's innate healing mechanisms, including proper diaphragmatic breathing and conscious attention to the injury site, utilizing inflammation as a tool for rebuilding tissue, preventing the formation of scar tissue, and ultimately restoring the body to its pre-injury state.
