In September 1988, schoolboy Lee Boxell left his home in Cheam to go and hang out with a friend before saying he might go and watch a football match at the local Selhurst Park stadium. And then he disappeared, never to be seen again. In the last 37 years there have been countless leads and theories as to what happened to him, but answers remain illusive.
Lee Darren Boxell, a 15-year-old from Cheam, disappeared on 10 September 1988, last seen outside a Tesco on Sutton High Street at 2:20 pm, hours after parting ways with a friend and mentioning he might attend a football match he never reached. Decades later, investigations linked his disappearance to "The Shed," an unofficial youth club at St Dunstan's Church in Cheam, where paedophile activity was uncovered, including crimes by gravedigger William Lambert. Police theorized Lee may have died intervening to stop abuse. Suspicions also arose around serial offender Brian Lunn Field, though no concrete evidence has confirmed his involvement.Ossuary 6 - Air Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Contact us at: weeknightmysteries@gmail.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/weeknightmysteriesTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@weeknightmysteries

This episode in the trilogy of three so far this Spring is the third one in the series. In this podcast James, Tim, Jon and Martin look at the brilliant fifth series episode The East Cheam Drama Festival and consider how the episode, being a play within a play, was quite revolutionary at the time. The gang consider how the second playlet is quite Pythonesque in its lack of a punchline, review how the episode would have sounded with cut lines reinstated and look at sections of the show where Hancock doesn't have any lines! The four take a deep dive into all of the characters called Dolly throughout Hancock's career and debate if this episode is the first ever appearance of a character called Cravatte!Of course the team get distracted, this time by a book on celebrities and their cars, Philomena Cunk's Soviet Onion and the brilliant Laurie Webb's visit to the Riverside Studios.Don't forget to rate and subscribe to the podcast. And, if you haven't done so already, why not join the Tony Hancock Appreciation Society - full details of how to join are at tonyhancock.org.uk In the final episode of the series we'll review the excellent radio episode Hancock's Car. Hope that you'll be able to join us then.
Hancock's Half Hour was a BBC radio comedy, and later television comedy series, broadcast from 1954 to 1961 and written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. The series starred Tony Hancock, with Sidney James; the radio version also co-starred, at various times, Moira Lister, Andrée Melly, Hattie Jacques, Bill Kerr and Kenneth Williams. The final television series, renamed simply Hancock, starred Hancock alone. The series was influential in the development of the situation comedy, with its move away from radio variety towards a focus on character development. All hail the Roly-Poly Regent of Raspberries, the Moon-Faced Monarch of Mirth, the Spherical Sovereign of Song! (Alright, that's enough – Ed.) This week Tyler is joined by Tony Cross to talk about Harry Secombe, focusing on his two volumes of memoir Arias & Raspberries and Strawberries & Cheam. The emphasis is on the pre-Goons days, particularly his wartime service and post-war pursuit of fame as a fledgling comedian and variety turn. It's a warm appreciation of the man who would go on to become Ned of Wales and one of Britain's best-loved entertainers. Features stories such as Jimmy Edwards and a case of mistaken identity, a troublesome kidney stone, that fateful first meeting with Spike, Harry as a young shaver belting out hymns from the outdoor thunderbox and his time touring Italy to entertain the troops. Some honourable mentions along the way for Bill Hall, Peter Sellers, Muir & Norden, Vivian Van Damm, Bruce Forsyth and Tony Hancock. And we ask: Why hasn't there been a definitive Secombe biography? Check out Tony on Twitter @Lokster71 and his website is https://acrosstime.tv/ As always, check out the podcast @goonshowpod

The government says a slowdown in the vaccine rollout is down to a "lumpy" supply chain, but they are still on course to meet their target of jabs for all U.K. adults by the end of July. Paul Scully, Conservative MP for Sutton and Cheam, Minister for London and Junior Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets tells Bloomberg Westminster's Caroline Hepker and Roger Hearing it was never going to be a smooth path but it doesn't affect the roadmap.

"We're here for fun, mainly. Therefore, if we come first doing what we enjoy, that's great. But if not, let's at least work hard at it and do our best." - Jeremy Vine. My guest this week is Presenter, Broadcaster and Journalist, Jeremy Vine. From a young age, Jeremy always knew he wanted to be a journalist, but he could never have predicted how his career would unfold. Since joining the BBC as a News Trainee in 1987, he has spent more than three decades informing, educating and entertaining the great British public. Jeremy has graced our screens in a whole host of flagship programmes such as Newsnight, Panorama, Crimewatch, Points of View, Strictly Come Dancing and more. In June 2018, it was announced Jeremy would take over the popular Wright Stuff slot on Channel 5. Jeremy is more than a familiar face on the telly. Since 2003, he has presented the most listened to radio current affairs programme in the UK on Radio 2. He’s also published two books: his autobiography ‘It’s All News to Me’ tells the vivid story of a quarter-of-a-century in journalism, while his most recent book ‘What I Learnt’ is a hilarious memoir of lessons learnt from his Radio 2 listeners. In this episode, Jeremy seamlessly traverses his career - and indeed life - so far. From growing up in Cheam in a 'family of show-offs', to his formative years as a trainee reporter in Coventry, to his incredible 30+ year career in broadcasting. A born storyteller, Jeremy shares plenty of brilliant stories and imparts pearls of wisdom to the next generation. He also shares his biggest aspiration for the future. If you enjoy the first ever episode of When I Grow Up, I would LOVE it if you could leave a review or comment… it really helps with getting it out there. **Follow me: ** Twitter: [@katiephilo](www.twitter.com/katiephilo) Instagram: [@katiephilo](www.instagram.com/katiephilo) [www.katiephilo.com](www.katiephilo.com) **Follow Jeremy Vine:** **Twitter:** @[TheJeremyVine](www.twitter.com/TheJeremyVine) **Instagram:** [@TheJeremyVine](www.instagram.com/TheJeremyVine) **Facebook:** [@TheJeremyVine](www.facebook.com/TheJeremyVine) [www.jeremyvine.tv](http://jeremyvine.tv)

In Episode 3 of my History of Prep Education project, I interview Mark Johnson. Mark (known to all his pupils as MRJ) attended prep boarding school himself aged 6 (!). As a teacher, he taught at Summer Fields for 17 years, becoming Deputy Headmaster, before becoming Headmaster of Cheam in 1998 - a post he held for 18 years, growing the school from 120 boys to 420 boys & girls and winning much acclaim in the process. In this interview, we talk about: *Mark's own (Dickensian!) prep school days *The story of Mark's entrance into teaching *What makes an outstanding prep school teacher, and head *The magic and eccentricity of prep schools, and how these can be preserved in the 21st Century. We also touch on a near-death experience Mark had, and the difficulty of growing up with his father serving in the Army on the other side of the world.
