Demand generation is more than just a marketing function. It's a craft. A mindset. A way of life honed and perfected by uber-talented practitioners. Not only that, but with market conditions the way they are right now, effective demand gen is in demand. It's invaluable to current and future revenues. We touched on demand generation early in this series. But as it's been a while, it felt right to revisit it and see what's changed (if anything). So what better guest to find out from than one of those uber-talented practitioners, and friend of Shaped By, Katie Colbourne, Director of Global Demand Generation at Basware. Fresh from giving us her perspective on creativity for our Perspective 2022 report, Katie's back to chat with Dave about her demand generation journey, why the fundamentals of demand gen are so important – and how to nail them within the context of your own business and audience.

“It’s not the cards you have been dealt…but how you play them that matters.” I’m Stephanie Webster, a nutritional therapist in Harley St London specialising in fat loss, gut health and hormone optimisation, for busy executives and entrepreneurs over 40. When I coach my clients, the most difficult thing they need to change is their mindset. I never tire of interviewing individuals who have achieved extraordinary things… despite the perceived odds. I get chills listening to those amazing individuals who received the news… you’ve got cancer…or ..you have 90 days to live…or your DNA says you will likely get Alzheimers…… soldiers who lose a leg… and so on…and frankly…anyone who has ever been told…no you cant… It takes a certain strength of mind to say …excuse me…thank you for your opinion, but that doesn’t define me. Now watch me make the most of my life. And today… I have the overwhelming privilege of having Olympian Gold Medallist Mark Colbourne MBE on the show. Mark has created a successful speaking career from presenting his key messages on “Change and Mindset” to many FTSE 250 companies. Mark has kindly educated other people successfully on how to overcome their fear of change. Global audiences can learn thought provoking elite mindset skills that empowers confidence, overcomes fear and consistently impacts results on their bottom line. Up and coming 200m and 400m sprinter Kasheem Colbourne expresses through his music choice his deep pride in the beauty of his country. 'Antigua' by Rupert Blaize conjures up paradise-like images of this twin island state's stunning natural landscape and the warmth of its people, and for these reasons is a popular song in the country. Glasgow 2014 will be Kasheem's first time competing at Commonwealth level and in his contribution to Commonwealth Connections he expresses his resolve to do well, represent Antigua and Barbuda, and put it on the map in the minds of the world-wide audience for the track and field events.
