pWotD Episode 2831: Marianne Faithfull Welcome to Popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 482,580 views on Friday, 31 January 2025 our article of the day is Marianne Faithfull.Marianne Evelyn Gabriel Faithfull (29 December 1946 – 30 January 2025) was an English singer and actress. She achieved popularity in the 1960s with the release of her UK top 5 single "As Tears Go By" and became one of the leading female artists of the British Invasion in the United States.Born in Hampstead, London, Faithfull began her career in 1964 after attending a party for the Rolling Stones, where she was discovered by Andrew Loog Oldham. Her 1965 debut studio album Marianne Faithfull, released simultaneously with her studio album Come My Way, was a huge success and was followed by further albums on Decca Records. From 1966 to 1970 she had a highly publicised romantic relationship with Mick Jagger. Her popularity was enhanced by roles in films, including I'll Never Forget What's'isname (1967), The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968) and Hamlet (1969). But her popularity was overshadowed by personal problems in the 1970s, when she became anorexic, homeless and addicted to heroin.During her 1960s musical career, Faithfull was noted for her distinctive melodic, high-register vocals. But, in the subsequent decade, her voice was altered by severe laryngitis and persistent drug abuse, which left her sounding permanently raspy, cracked and lower in pitch. The new sound was praised as "whisky soaked" by some critics and was seen as having helped to capture the raw emotions expressed in her music. After a long absence, Faithfull made a musical comeback in 1979 with the release of a critically acclaimed seventh studio album, Broken English. The album was a commercial success and marked a resurgence of her musical career. Broken English earned Faithfull a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance and is regarded as her "definitive recording". She followed this with a series of studio albums including Dangerous Acquaintances (1981), A Child's Adventure (1983) and Strange Weather (1987). Faithfull wrote three books about her life: Faithfull: An Autobiography (1994), Memories, Dreams & Reflections (2007) and Marianne Faithfull: A Life on Record (2014).Faithfull received the World Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Women's World Awards, and in 2011 she was made a Commandeur of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the government of France. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:36 UTC on Saturday, 1 February 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Marianne Faithfull on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Kimberly.

In this episode, we poltickin with MiTCH.Reigning from New York, Hip-Hop artist MiTCH paints the sonic picture of his home state even though he currently resides in Los Angeles. Bringing a recognizable voice over any instrumental, MiTCH is what rap didn't know it was missing. After leaving the Marine Corps due to an unexpected injury that caused him to experience seizures, MiTCH decided it was time to pursue his musical dreams out in Los Angeles & make the city his own. MiTCH's journey out west led him to opening up for well-known rap artists Cozz (Dreamville) & Curren$y, and allowed him to surround himself with creatives to hone in on his artistry. Having grown up studying the music of artists such as J. Cole, A Tribe Called Quest, JAY-Z, J Dilla, and Big Krit, the influence that these top tier lyricists have had on MiTCH is clear, yet his originality remains apparent.Switching flows at the drop of a dime, constructing bars to any production style & staying versatile through his story telling, MiTCH aims to always push the needle forward on what people expect from “rappers”. From his upbeat banger, “Pop It”, which has over 100 thousand streams, to the melodic, R&B based track, “Come My Way”, Hoodie Mitch has continued to intertwine modern flows & lyricism with smooth vocals to keep you guessing what he will do next.https://www.instagram.com/hoodiemitch/#hiphop #podcasts #music #usmcveteran
i am who i am ,but please respect me as we all should be respected- religion should not be an excuse to be a bigot, and i do not need insanity to come my way. I am a celebrity ,small one ,so let me have some slack and respect songwriters - lyricists, composers -they both wrote and own the song they written

Today's psychic reading* is from "Tamara" who is wanting to know when love is coming her way. She's having dreams, and she's seeing signs and symbols, but still no sign of the man! I offer Tamara some insight as to what I see, and I also discuss how a person can tell if somebody is "right" for them. *When a psycic reading is being done, the information may be correct at the time of the reading, however "free will" always comes into this, so what may be correct now, may not be correct in a month's time! Just something for you to ponder, so treat this as a bit of fun - not something to bet your life savings on ok?? Want more info about this or other stuff? Thank You Lord For the Trials that Come My Way by Norbert Torres, Aris Mosca, & Virgilio Mandapat - May 15, 2022
This week I'm delighted to bring you a chat with someone who grabs life by both hands, former footballer Darius Charles.Darius retired from professional footballer just a matter of weeks ago after playing professionally for sixteen years for the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Brentford and most recently, AFC Wimbledon. We talk about how he feels about that and also the journey football has taken him on personally. His mum had him when she was sixteen years old and Darius has had plenty of obstacles over his life that he has managed to overcome and use as the energy he brings to everyone he meets. We had this conversation in a recording studio close to where Darius spent a large part of his childhood, in Hanwell, West London. Darius is currently being followed by a documentary crew and our conversation in the studio will be part of a programme called 'Sidelines', which will be out later in the year.I got to know Darius about a year ago and since then I've always enjoyed and looked forward to every conversation we have ever had. As he says himself, he's a very fiery character and I think by the end of this conversation you will see how he is using that desire in a positive way, a passion that will change lives. We talk about role models, creating opportunities and being self-sufficient, the fear of your career always being one manager's decision away from ending as well as dealing with being loaned out and Injured. But we start with that difficult decision to hang up his boots.Show Notes: Brentford Football Club - https://www.brentfordfc.com/Helen Keller - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_KellerScott Fitzgerald - https://bit.ly/3ysK4y0Thurrock Football Club - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurrock_F.C.Nathan Broome - https://bit.ly/3wlzQggGareth Ainsworth - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gareth_AinsworthGraham Westley - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_WestleySocial Identity Theory - https://www.britannica.com/topic/social-identity-theoryPaulo Coelho book 'The Alchemist' - https://amzn.to/3vYJcj1Don Miguel Ruiz book 'The Four Agreements' - https://amzn.to/3yu8KXeThe Last Dance - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQk2hJs2ToAMichael Jordan - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_JordanBill Cartwright - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_CartwrightChicago Bulls - https://www.nba.com/bulls/Steve Kerr - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_KerrPhil Jackson's book ‘Eleven Rings' - https://amzn.to/3yrOFk4Jay Shetty's Podcast - https://apple.co/3yrOQMgJake Humphrey's High Performance Podcast - https://apple.co/3whdZ9YSteven Bartlett's Podcast - https://apple.co/3l0BdMhErwin Valencia's Podcast Episode - https://apple.co/38gxqaIMaya Angelou - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_AngelouKendrick Lamar - https://www.kendricklamar.com/More About Darius Charles:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/everybody_lovesd/?hl=enTwitter - https://twitter.com/dariuscharles00LinkedIn - https://bit.ly/3L0qKeqWikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darius_CharlesListen & Subscribe to The Ben Ryan Podcast:Ben's Website - http://benryan.co.uk/bio/Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-ben-ryan-podcast/id1553400216Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/3iUL1eLA7HFKt5gxO7Uf4j?si=oN9YN6uFRSSGbO6kR01ONQAmazon Music - https://amzn.to/3shGDnOTuneIn - http://tun.in/pkdsmBen On Social:Follow me on Instagram - https://bit.ly/2Z5QSitFollow me on Twitter - https://bit.ly/3ph5W7oFollow me on LinkedIn - https://bit.ly/3ah8FtvRead about me - https://amzn.to/2NLu0Ck

Bulletin for Sunday 4/30/17 1 John 1:1-3 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. Worship Notes At the opening of 1 John, the beloved apostle tells us that he is writing “so that our joy may be complete.” Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit (as we read today in Galatians 5), and you won’t be able to miss this mark of the Christian life in the service this morning. We begin by “bowing down in joy before Him” (Christ Is Risen! Hallelujah), and we end leaping for joy (O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing). In between, we declare to the Lord that He is our Joy (O Lord Of Hosts How Lovely—84), a “joy as none can move” (Come My Way, My Truth, My Life), and the “joy of the desolate” (Come, Ye Disconsolate). After confessing our sins, we seek the Lord for the joy of His salvation (God Be Merciful To Me—Psalm 51). With so many “joyful Hallelujahs” (Hallelujah, Praise Jehovah—Psalm 146) echoing back and forth, the universe itself cannot help but “repeat the sounding joy.” —Henry C. Haffner Key Words: Writing, Our, Joy, Complete Keystone Verse: We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete. (1 John 1:4)
In this episode, the band discusses how they used an old, previously unreleased song to develop the storyline and introduce the central figure from the perspective of three blind men who were healed by a yet unnamed figure.
This week we discuss why your apathetic attitude towards church has far bigger implications than simply being bored on a Sunday morning.
Fr. Austin Dominic Litke, O.P., Fr. Bob Koopman, O.S.B., & Leah Sedlacek perform a new arrangement of the beautiful 17th century hymn, "Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life." The arranger of this piece, Edward A. David, is a graduate of the Steinhardt School at NYU who majored in piano performance. The piece was produced by Blackfriar Films, which is the media division of the Province of St. Joseph as part of a music video featuring New York City as a backdrop. The team is composed of graduates of NYU's film school: A. Joshua Vargas, John S. Fisher, and Michael Crommett. The video is inspired by Pope Francis' World Youth Day call for Catholics to "take to the streets" in sharing the Gospel. Search "Blackfriar Music: Come My Way" on youtube to watch the music video!
It's here - sorry it's been so long! I've been saving this one for a while... there are some new hits, a couple classics, and of course some new 2012 versions of some classics... it all comes together and ends with one of my all time favorite songs - "Come My Way." Like all of my podcasts, there is a message woven into the music - and this one is about love... I am ready, I feel it inside, I feel the crowd, I'm going to give you my all, I want to shout out loud. I'll leave you with this song - my heart is singing. Heartbreaks and promises. I'm tired of giving my love and getting nowhere. What I need is somebody who really cares. I really need a lover, a lover that wants to be there. I can't put my love on the line, if you want me, you've got show me love - words are so easy to say, you've got to show me love. I give more than I've got and that's the story of my life... Don't tell me what to do, don't tell me how to dress. It's been a long time, is it true that you've found another baby? When shit's going down, tell me, are you going to come save me? If the world was against me, tell me what would you do? Are you going to fight for me? 'Cuase baby I'd die for you. Fast. Time is ticking off so fast. The sand is running quick right through our hands. Beat, feel the rhythm in my heartbeat. Why don't you move your body to my body before we disappear? I want to dance like it was the last dance in my life. We're on a timebomb, We might not last long. Before the night's gone, let's just do it right now, come on. We've got a life to live, and I can't do it all alone. Somewhere in a private place, pack the bags for outer space, waiting for the right kind of pilot to come, to say to him - I would fly to the moon and back if you'll be, if you'll be my baby - I've got a ticket for a world where we belong, so would you be my baby? Oh great love - who took the morning stars above? One fine day, you're going to let it go my way. High way, low, I would go anywhere with you, high way, low way - won't you come my way? Why won't you come my way?
