Music people! You have arrived just in time to make rhymes, sing songs and do some creative movement games all with your host in chief, Dan Saks. Today's episode raises a glass to celebrating Autism Awareness month way ahead of schedule. We'll also be toasting old school flows and the art of snowman building. If none of that makes sense it's because you haven't listened to the show yet. So do that pls. This Rhyme Time is a little different than our usual version. In this one, your job is to channel your inner Run DMC to anticipate and finish the rhyme at the each of our rapper's couplets. So don a Kangol and loosely lace your Adidas cause it's about to get tricky to rock a thyme that's right on time. ✪ Today's Echo Song was inspired by a family of long time Noodlinos who requested I write an echo song to celebrate neurodiversity, or as they put it, Different Brains. This neurodiversity awareness song for kids is an appreciation for the different kinds of brains we all have and will hopefully help neurotypical kids see themselves in the autistic children in their communities. ✪ Who doesn't love a Time To Move game that employs a lil musique concrète to create an imaginary snowman building creative movement game? Hopefully, not you because that's what this game is. Enjoy! ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids that is equal parts music and love. 30 DAY FREE TRIAL AT DIY: https://diy.org/?ref=noodleloaf ✪✪✪ I have written three pictures books celebrating families. A rhyming, light-hearted celebration of families being - and belonging - together. Go on, open up the packet. What's inside? 10 minutes of interactive music education games for children?? Fantastic! Here are the games on today's show: First up a Clap It Back game called "What's On The Menu" I say things that are on the menu. You clap back the rhythm of the words. It's fun, easy and helps develop a sense of rhythm. If the foods were actually available then it would be a very promising new restaurant concept. ✪ Before today's echo songs you'll hear a brief description of how some songs are written which will help demystify how an instant classic like Funky Little Porcupine comes to be. It's not rocket scientist. It's much fancier. ✪ We end with a Call and Response written by the eternal Ella Jenkins. The song is called Dulce Dulce and it is a fun music game that will help your child learn rhythm, melody and the Spanish word "Dulce." Ella Jenkins was not Hispanic but hopefully this Spanish word song will inspire some Hispanic Heritage Month singing and playing even as the official celebration month draws to an end. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can do on the way to your swimming lesson. Great Bowls of Groovy Gemelli Noodlinos! It's a new Noodle Loaf noodlesode! Too much? Ok, I'll tone it down. Press play for fun music and games for kids. Thank you. First up a special edition of our Trivia game called Instrument or Italian Cheese. This music appreciation game tests you knowledge of both Italian cheeses and orchestral instruments to make sure you never attempt to grate a piccolo over your pappardelle. ✪ This episode's echo song, called Before I Get Up, is a gentle wake up song that teaches morning mindfulness and may possibly help your child wake up happy and get ready faster. If nothing else it should help them develop a sense of pitch and rhythm. ✪ We end with a Time To Move game that involves magic gloves and finger dancing. I learned a version of this game from Dr. John Feierabend, an early music education wizard. It is a great game for teaching awareness of flow and tempo. It is also big time fun. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! You won't learn to spell in today's episode, but you may learn to mispronounce the word "barber." You will also learn how to plan for special occasions. In other words you will learn MOST of the most important things. And if you enjoy singing songs then that's even better. Birthdays, graduations, growing your first eyebrow...what do these things all have in common? They are all very special occasions. This echo song is an all purpose special occasion celebration song. It helps children develop their sense of pitch, rhythm and hosting. ✪ Today's Rhyme Time is a collaboration with Tibbs and MG from the very silly show Paper Bag Party. They need your help making rhymes! If you don't listen to this episode then they will be wandering forever in a land of unfinished quatrains. HELP THEM PLEASE!!! ✪ Does your child sit in the car or their room or a shopping cart making up songs for hours about whatevs? If you said yes then this is the music game for them. I am introducing a new episode titling concept that is akin to how certain race horses are named. See, this episode contains pieces of previous episodes as well as new material. Thus, the episode title pays homage to that lineage to form the poetic phrase: "Hello Donkey Potato." Race horse names are often nods to their parents i.e. a horse named Waffle Toes may have been sired by Brekky Pie and Foot Fingers. I expect this innovation to spread rapidly throughout the world of podcasting. It is my gift to the industry...my legacy. But enough about the title, what fun music and games for kids lies within these 1s and 0s? We begin with a Time To Move movement game called Bubble Bubble Pop. Kids will use their hands, fingers and claps to perform a dance that develops small motor skills AND big movement thrills. ✪ Nextly, we share a Noodle Loaf version of the Echo Song mega-hit, Down By The Bay. This was recorded when Joni was a good bit shorter than she currently is. Not to worry, I have adjusted the mic to accommodate her latest height. We've added our own punchlines to this song. How did we do? ✪ Who doesn't love a listening skill building game like Name That Sound? I don't want to give away any answers but let's just say you're going to need an extra pair of socks to play this one. ✪ A Tiny Song that is about a Donkey Farm and about how everyone is going there tonight. Not too much to add to that. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can play at 1.25x speed. I wrote a book!!!: ✪✪✪ FAMILIES GROW - an Amazon Best Book of the Month - by Dan Saks and Brooke Smart available from Penguin Random House ✪✪✪ https://bookshop.org/a/9590/9780593223673 WAYS TO SHOW NOODLE LOVE: ✪ Join our Patreon to get a show shout out and a handwritten letter! www.patreon.com/noodleloaf ✪ SUBSCRIBE and/or LEAVE A REVIEW on Apple Podcasts ✪ Get some Noodle Loaf gear at noodleloaf.threadless.com. ✪ Want to add your voice to the Noodle Loaf choir? Sorry kids, the song about the history of Kraftwerk didn't make the final edit but don't fret, there is a clapping game about robots. There is also a Western folk song and opportunities to make use of your ears and hands so make sure to have those nearby before hitting play. We begin with a song game called Clap It Back about robots. But is it a song about robots? Or an homage to Phil Collins? Can it be both? This is a great way to develop Rhythmic Awareness and 80s pop icon awareness. ✪ Kids love classic Western cinema so here is an old Western folk song that also happens to be an Echo Song. So hop up in the saddle and join us on the trail. ✪ The word "Aural" is confusing when heard aurally. That is ironic. There is nothing we can do about that but what we can do is develop Aural Awareness via a game called Name That Sound. We'll play a sound, you try to name it. ✪ If you like Rhythmic Improvisation and Body Percussion then you will love Jam Along. Stomp, clap, pat and snap your funkiest groove along to our funkiest groove. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can pack in your picnic basket. Lots of characters to meet this week, as Ginger the Loyal and Otis the Aloofest visit What If World and meet Hungry Bungry! Can the misplaced pets get back to What Is World, or will the Oopstone trap them forever?! Lessons include: good rules are made by people who understand their mistakes, and want to keep you from having to repeat them; pollution is a problem we can only solve together! This episode originally aired July 9th, 2018. We are proud to tell you about the new board book, Families Can, by our friend, Dan Saks. It's getting hot in here, so plant some carrot seeds. I am getting so hot, I'm gonna plant some carrot seeeeds. There's a song about planting carrot seeds in this episode and those are not the lyrics. We don't do parodies. We do music for kids and that grown ups dig too. We do music empowerment through play. We jam out, you jam along. The Echo Song in today's show, A Carrot Seed was inspired by my cousins' farm Soul Fire Farm in Upstate NY. Their farm sows veg and justice in equal measure and is definitely worth getting to know. To Do List: Sing along with this fun song for kids, Plant a carrot, Check out Soul Fire Farm. ✪ This Finish The Pattern game explores the music concept of timbre. Timbre is just a fancy way of saying the way a sound sounds. A guitar and a piano playing middle C play the same notes but have very different timbres. I think trying to find words to describe timbres makes for a fun vocab game that also nurtures a sense of music appreciation so stay tuned for the bonus round where we do just that! ✪ And since we're big fans of recycling, we recycle those patterns to play a game called Jam Along. If you're having fun and feeling empowered to be part of the band then you are doing it right! ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can do at the beach, at the pool or at the lakeside glampsite. Warm up your vocals with a round of singing slide. Sing a party plan with our echo song. Name some sounds. And then take some time for yourself, because you deserve it. Singing Slide is based on a vocal warm up game that music teachers like to play with their students. Kids mimic a slide whistle which gets them singing in their head voices and exploring their vocal range. It gives me the opportunity to record myself playing slide whistle which always comes as a surprise to my neighbors. ✪ Party Time! This echo song about planning a party has an animal themed twist. Speaking of which animal themed twist would make for a great kids party theme. Giraffe Limbo etc. Echo songs are a great way for kids to learn melodies, build their melodic vocabularies and tune their sense of pitch. Huzzah! ✪ Mystery sounds abound in this round of Name That Sound. Our very own Noodle Loaf game show announcer will guide you through the process of identifying some old-timey sounds. Unclog your ears for some close listening and a little bit of learning about technology from days gone by. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can listen to without needing a jukebox and a quarter. If you like smoothies then you'll love this new episode of Noodle Loaf. It's got mangoes (rhythm games), bananas (singing) and freshly squeezed orange juice (mad-lib style story games). Press play and take a gulp! Our Clap It Back game gives you and your family a chance to learn rhythmic phrases. Syllables, cadence, rhythm, tempo, beat...so many skills to glean from this game. It also incorporates a technique used in music classrooms and pedagogies like the Suzuki method. Things get tricky as the game goes on, so hold on to your smoothies! ✪ This Echo Song doesn't have a lot of words. Some songs don't need a lot of words to do what they need to do. Other songs (like Hurricane by Bob Dylan) need a ton of words. This is not that. The name of this song is "Sister Oh Sister" and it is meant to evoke feelings about the people in your life, after all. ✪ We recently found a half filled book of Mad-Libs on a neighbors' stoop. We had a lot of fun with it and it was exciting to see how different another families brand of hijinks felt in comparison to our own. This game is similar. It is called You Make The Story and your job is to add your own words to help tell the story. In this case you are opening up a pizzeria. Good luck with your new pizzeria endeavor! ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can slurp up like a smoothie but without the brain freeze. Songs about robots, subways and feeling grateful for scientists! This episode has the very special guest, Tracy Bonham & Melodeon Music House, plus lots of learning about music through play. ✪ First Up, Time To Move - Dance Robot Dance. Pretend you are a robot that has two settings. Setting 1: when you hear music you do your best robot dance. Setting 2: When the music stops you shape your body like the thing that I say. i.e. grapes. This is a fun creative movement game that promotes body awareness, smiles and dancing to a song about robots. ✪ Counting the silence. Kids love counting. Grown-ups love silence. This game has something for everyone! ✪ All you have to do during a Story Song is sit back and enjoy the song. This song is about feeling grateful for all the people big and small who have helped their communities get through this past year, and especially everyone involved in the vaccine roll-out from the scientists to the people who rolled up their sleeves to stop Covid's spread. You can hear this song wherever music streamed including Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/2FIyQU8vHnG2dPXPpOx5e7?si=N26FtAfoTgCBFtgRDkJJGQ ✪ This episode's Echo Song is provided by the wonderful musician and music educator Tracy Bonham & Melodeon Music House. The song is called Let's Take The Subway. It's a fun children's song for learning about letters, pitch matching, song form and that famous New York City rat race. Music and learning, singing and goofing. Enter here for children's songs about dinosaurs and dumplings. But fair warning, you may be asked to rhyme something with "Cilantro." If you're comfortable with that possibility then press play on this educational podcast for kids and enjoy. We begin with a rhyming game. Freshen up phonological awareness, fine tune your flow and polish your poetry with this edition of Rhyme Time. Our categories this go round are fancy colors, types of dumplings, herbs, handicrafts and kinds of trucks. Watch out for the extra hard herbal bonus round! ✪ This week's echo song is about a lonesome dinosaur. Why won't anyone play with the T. Rex? Is it because he'll eat them? This Echo Song explores themes of h̶u̶m̶a̶n̶ dinosaur nature while developing a child's sense of pitch and humor. It's music for kids that dinosaurs will love too. ✪ We haven't had a Vocal Jam in a while which means it's time for a vocal jam. Think of it as an instant a cappella group but better because the group is your family and instead of pop songs you're just saying names of dumplings. This is a great intro to harmony and part singing for kids and is also great as a family singalong. Learn the parts and perform it next time you're at a dumplings shop! Great idea! ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! Press play and brace yourself for some music games, a song about fruits and April Fools jokes aplenty. We'll play a drawing game called Guided Doodling where you will doodle a mystery drawing based on the narrated instructions. Will it be an octopus? Probably not, but maybe? A little more details on the various music activities beloooooow: Finish The Pattern - Our pattern recognition game teams up with solfege for some real live music game fun. Fair warning, there are animal sounds and some amateur beatboxing. ✪ Echo Song - Mango Season - Our repeat after me style sing along song is all about some of our favorite fruits! Mangoes, watermelons and strawberries. A fun fact about this upbeat children's song is that you can insert whatever your favorite fruits or veggies are. If you love kohlrabi then you would just sing "Wake Me Up When Its Kohlrabi Season." This is a no judgement zone. You do you. ✪ Guided Doodle - Get yourself a pencil and paper, we are going to draw together. Noodle Loaf provides the classical music of Vivaldi and some instructions on how to draw a mystery drawing. You do your best to draw what we describe. There's a good chance you will draw something other than what we are imagining, but that's ok. The important thing is we are hanging out, listening to calm music and drawing together. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson for kids you can listen to in your sleep. April Fools! Fun. Fun Music. Fun Music For Kids. Fun Music For Kids And Their Grown Growns. Fun Music For Kids And Their Grown Growns That Involves Saying The Names of Birds Wrong. i.e. Curdnal. Pretty Birdies - Echo Song - A repeat after me song about different birds! But we're not just singing bird names over here, we are singing them incorrectly because that's something we like to do. I don't know if your kids will learn about birds by singing along but there's a chance they'll develop their senses of pitch and rhythm. ✪ Learn About Tablas with Sufyan - Noodlino Sufyan is a 7 year old from Brooklyn, NY who has been studying how to play the tabla. He tells us a little about the instrument and demonstrates a couple bols (rhythmic sequences) that he has learned. He is cool. Tablas are cool. You are cool. ✪ Clap It Back - In this rhythm game about drums of the world, we clap back the rhythms of phrases describing various world drums over Sufyan's tablatastic grooves. It's a bit of music appreciation mixed with some drumming fundamentals. ✪ KaraYOUke - If your child has been waiting patiently for someone to ask them to write a song about donkey teeth, then they need wait no more! This game asks you and your children to write your owns based on prompts you hear. We provide the music and the prompts, your family writes the songs. It's a songwriting lesson and a mad-lib but more fun than either one by itself. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! We continue celebrating Black History Month on our kids podcast by channeling the great tradition of Civil Rights songs, with a song about James Baldwin for kids and a song about the Black sports hero Major Taylor. Hooray for fun music for kids about inspiring Black figures! Both of these songs appear on our new Black History EP called "Oh Let Us Sing!" which features five children's songs about five inspiring historical Black figures. Playground Game - The episode begins with the classic playground sing along song for kids, Pizza Pizza Daddy-O. We do our own spin on this creative movement game for our kids podcast but you're encouraged to search online for the old school version. ✪ Echo Song - Then we help children develop pitch and singing confidence with our original echo song, one of a few of our Black History songs for kids, James Baldwin Used His Words. It's a Black History song for preschoolers and up. ✪ Clap It Back - We also get into a music activity for kids about the traditional African-American food, cornbread, during our rhythm, game segment. This game promotes rhythmic awareness and provides a recipe you can cook with your children too! You can find the skillet cornbread recipe that inspired the music game here: Better than Jiffy ✪ Echo Song - Our final echo song, Pedal On!, is about the great Black sports hero Major Taylor who was not only a cycling champion but is also remembered as a civil rights hero. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! Kids can practice pitch matching, and reflect on Dr. King's message of love. ✪ KaraYOUke - Nothing goes with melodic and verbal improvisation like an ABC phonics song for kids! Improvise the words to a song using words that start with the alphabet letters: ABCDE. Learn the alphabet and improvisational songwriting at the same time. ✪ Time To Move - a creative movement song, which also gives space for mindfulness with a guided meditation for kids through nature imagery ✪ ✪✪✪ OH LET US SING!: BLACK HISTORY ECHO SONGS ✪✪✪ ✪✪✪ FAMILIES BELONG - one of Amazon's Best Books of 2020 - by Dan Saks available from Penguin Random House ✪✪✪ https://bit.ly/familiesbelongbook WAYS TO SHOW NOODLE LOVE: ✪ Join our Patreon to access bonus content and a handwritten letter for a limited time! www.patreon.com/noodleloaf ✪ SUBSCRIBE and/or LEAVE A REVIEW on Apple Podcasts ✪ Get some Noodle Loaf gear at noodleloaf.threadless.com. ✪ Want to add your voice to the Noodle Loaf choir? Monday Soup, Tuesday Soup, Wednesday Soup, Thursday Soup, Friday Soup, Saturday Soup, Sunday...Nachos! Yes, finally a days of the week song for kids that is about soup. Because who said music activities for kids can't be about soup? Not me. Time To Move - We begin the show with a movement game for children that promotes steady beat awareness and the dance concept of weight. It also promotes goofiness and giggles. ✪ Echo Song - When Will the Rain Stop? - This episode's repeat after me song is a social emotional learning song about acknowledging why you're sad and figuring out what your options are when feeling those feelings. There may be a metaphor in there, we're not sure. What we do know is that rain always stops eventually and that a singalong song for children is a great way to pass the time while you wait ✪ Days of the Week Song - Monday Soup - This music game for kids has more hearty ingredients in it than a chunky minestrone. Not only will your kids learn the days of the week but they will also do some pitch matching and develop their sense of rhythm while they're at it. They may also scream "NACHOS!" ✪ All of our fun music and games are good for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! It's like a music lesson you can eat on the way to school. You don't get to clean up if you don't make a mess. So go make a mess and then sing along with our clean up song for kids. That's an order! PLUS we'll use our ears to name mystery sounds and use our mouths to make rhymes. It's a full face work out for families you don't want to miss. Name That Sound - First up, a listening activity for kids about writing. Listening about writing...is that like dancing about architecture? I dunno, but I do know that it is a great way to develop aural awareness in kids. ✪ Echo Song - Cleaning So Clean - Our repeat after me song about clean up time will you have you and your kids whistling all the way to the dust bank. That doesn't make sense. Anyhow, it will make cleaning more fun. And it will also develop a sense of pitch in children, and whimsy too. ✪ Rhyme Time - A rhyming game for kids set to a funky beat! Not only will children develop their phonological awareness without having to learn the word phonological, but they may also learn to rap. This rhyme game is a favorite of parents probably because they get to show off all the big words they know. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! A bit of a theme going on in this one. Who improvises? Who does not? What does improvise mean? What does amprovise mean? As far as I know, it does not mean anything. Nonetheless this episode is fun and educational and fun and introduces the concept of improvisation to children. This Clap It Back rhythm game is two lessons in one and a whole lot of fun. Children will gain rhythmic awareness and learn the sections of the orchestra, namely woodwinds, percussion, brass and strings. Plus we rhyme "piccolos" with "cover holes." ✪ This episode's Echo Song called Improvise has special guest appearances by podcasters Alex Goldman of Reply All, Mick Sullivan of the Past and the Curious, Pamela Rogers of Buttons and Figs and Nosaj from the rap group New Kingdom. The song teaches the definition of "Improvising" in the musical sense and in the sense of going with the flow when life throws you curveballs. It's a song about resilience and having a good attitude for kids and the grown ups who love them even when they spill all of the snacks all of the time. ✪ Story Song - My Mother is a Baby - This is a song tale about a mother who is a baby, not a metaphorical baby, but an actual baby. It's a silly song for kids that's a little bit Elvis, a little bit Shel Silverstein and a whole lotta fun. ✪ You get to play this mad libs for kids in real time. I like to play this on long car rides where each person in the car takes turning filling in the blank. This You Make The Story is about cooking poorly. ✪ ✪✪✪ FAMILIES BELONG - the new board book from Dan Saks available from Penguin Random House ✪✪✪ https://bit.ly/familiesbelongbook WAYS TO SHOW NOODLE LOVE: ✪ Join our Patreon for a shout out on the show and a handwritten letter in the mail! www.patreon.com/noodleloaf ✪ Donate: paypal.me/dansaks ✪ SUBSCRIBE and/or LEAVE A REVIEW on Apple Podcasts ✪ Get some Noodle Loaf gear at noodleloaf.threadless.com. ✪ Want to add your voice to the Noodle Loaf choir? It takes a special type of person to succeed in the digital economy. They need vision, curiosity, grit, and determination to achieve their goals and create a bold impact, both at work and in the world at large. Hear podcast host Dan Saks explain why it’s critical to tell the stories of these Digital Heroes, and why he’s decided to do just that on Decoding Digital.
This episode contains gratuitous goofiness and clandestine education. If you're not careful you may find yourself giggling and learning in equal measure. Proceed with caution. Fun children's song that parents will love too lie within. You've been warned. Echo Song - Muuuuuud - We kick things off with a song about nature that encourages messy play and saying the word "mud" in a funny voice. Recommended for fans of Waldorf schooling and Waldorf salads. ✪ Story Song - Leg Bone - From the archives of legendary kids musician Old Blind Loafy Noodles comes this funny story song. It is not an authoratative song about the human body but it is a silly song for kids that might teach children about song form. ✪ Time To Move - Go Bananas - Preschoolers have long loved this action song, but now with a funky groove it is perfect for early elementary age kids too. The music game encourages kids to make up their own dances so make sure all drinks are secured. ✪ KaraYOUke - A songwriting lesson for kids wearing a karaoke robe. We provide the music and the vocab, you provide the melody and the lyrics. This music game develops melodic and verbal improvisational skills and may turn your child into the next Dolly Parton. ✪ We hope you enjoy our music and games for preschoolers, kindergarteners and early elementary age kids! Making music making friends! ✪✪✪ FAMILIES BELONG - the new board book from Dan Saks available from Penguin Random House ✪✪✪ https://bit.ly/familiesbelongbook WAYS TO SHOW NOODLE LOVE: ✪ If Noodle Loaf brings some music education value to your life, please consider becoming a patron. Many great tech companies have emerged from a founder trying to solve a pain point in their own lives, and AppDirect is no different. As the only end-to-end platform that helps deliver digital services on any device and accelerate time to market, the company has raised $350 million and is not slowing down anytime soon. Dan Saks is the President and Co-CEO of AppDirect, and he is here to share various insights on working in the business. In this episode, Dan sheds light on how the closure of his family’s 100-year-old furniture business opened his eyes to the need to connect businesses with the right technology. When he was graduating from college, SaaS and cloud services were in their infancy, and Dan recognized their power to help businesses thrive and bridge unequal access to technology. We get an overview of how AppDirect connects distributors of services so businesses can consume the applications they need. We then zoom out from the product-level view to a look at AppDirect’s long-term vision. It is unusual for a company to have this type foresight, so Dan explains why looking at the overarching problem of how to deliver cloud services to business frames their goals and allows for a highly iterative development process. This long-term thinking is also inextricably tied to their values, and we learn about how the company established theirs and how the strong culture stems from them. Along with this, Dan also presents illuminating insights on thinking about partnerships, AppDirect's interview process, and its ideas around peak performance and a holistic approach to wellness. Build Your Own Telescope ActivityYou will need:two small dollar store magnifying glasses (it works best if one is larger than the other but not necessary)a cardboard tube - paper towel roll or gift-wrapping paper roll (it helps if it is long)duct tape or other strong tapescissorsa ruler, or tape measuresheet of paper with print on it like a newspaper, magazine, or even a book Here's what you need to do:Get the two magnifying glasses and a sheet of printed paper.Hold one of your magnifying glasses between you and printed paper. The image of the print will may blurry, but that's okay.Hold the second magnifying glass between your eye and the first magnifying glass.Move the second glass until the print comes into focus where you will see that the print is both larger and upside down.Have a friend or family member measure the distance between the two magnifying glasses and write the distance down.Cut a slot in the cardboard tube about one inch away from the front opening, but do not cut all the way through the tube. The slot should be wide enough to hold the first magnifying glass.Cut your second slot in the tube the same distance from the first slot as your friend or family member wrote down. This is where your second magnifying glass will go.Place the two magnifying glasses in their slots and tape them in with the duct tapeLeave approximately 1 inch of tube behind the second magnifying glass and cut off any excess tube remaining.Check to see that it works by looking at the printed page. You may have to adjust slightly to get the exact distances between the two glasses right so that the image comes to a focus. We'll post a photo of Brian and Meredith's telescope on our Instagram and if you're having issues we found a lot of similar plans online with the google search "how to build a telescope at home" ranging from simple like ours to very detailed plans. Music can be used to learn things besides music. Or so I've been told. Today we test that hypothesis to see if the kids in our midst can retain essential general trivia like the fact that Michael Bolton's birth name was Michael Bolotin. This could be a breakthrough in kids podcast technology. Time To Move - Be a butterfly! Be a rug! Be filled with jelly! This brain break style movement activity for kids will not only get your wiggles out, it will put them back in again too. Because you're gonna need wiggles where we're going. ✪ Singing Slide - This vocal warmup game for kids is brought to you by slide whistles. Echo the sound the slide whistle makes to warm up your voice before singing the next song. ✪ Echo Song - I Love Fun - This echo song AKA repeat after me song is a fine piece of children's music. So fine. So fun. It's about how things are made and how things that are made can facilitate fun. That explanation doesn't make it sound fun, but it is. Trust. ✪ Clap Facts - Trivia and Clap It Back combine to create Clap Facts, a general knowledge game for children where they clap back statements that are true and freeze after statements that are false. Lava is basically melted rocks: clap it. Dinosaurs lived on Earth with humans: no claps ✪ All these children's songs and games are great for elementary age kids and younger. Take this kids podcast on the go in your car, airplane and/or dirigible.
