HOW MUCH SLEEP YOUR PET NEEDS, ACCORDING TO THE EXPERTS: Sleep patterns depend on the breed and age of your pet, but here's a rundown… ➠ Dogs: 12-14 hours per night, with older dogs and younger puppies being able to sleep for even longer. (And snore for even longer…) ➠ Cats:  The average cat needs 16-20 hours of sleep per 24 hours. (And once again, mine's above average…) ➠ Rabbits: Like humans, rabbits need around 8½ hours of sleep. But they tend to sleep with their eyes open, so sometimes they can fool you… ➠ Hamsters:  Need 12-14 hours of sleep each night, which is usually broken up over short periods of time. ➠ Tortoises:  They can sleep for up to 12 hours each day. Babies? Up to 22 hours. ➠ Snakes:  Most spend about 16 hours sleeping. They don't have eyelids, so sometimes they're sleeping when you don't even realize it. (And if the snake gets out of its cage, NO ONE is sleeping!) ➠ Parrots:  They need about 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness nightly. (And let's face it, you've NEVER wondered how long a parrot sleeps before right now, have you?) (My cat, who also claims to be an expert on the subject, insists that at least 23 hours of sleep is mandatory. 24 when we change the clock!) DID YOU KNOW? A county in Florida is under quarantine, but not due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Why? Snails. A population of invasive giant African land snails that can produce up to 2,500 eggs a year has invaded the New Port Richey area of Pasco County. This invasive species poses a health risk to humans because they carry a parasite called rat lungworm, which can cause meningitis. Although Giant African land snails are illegal to own as pets in the US, some exotic pet owners still keep them. Fun Facts ✓ Elvis Presley didn't write any of his songs. ✓ None of The Beatles could read music. AWESOME LIFE HACKS THAT WORK: ➢ Waterproof your shoes:  Rub an unscented candle thoroughly against a canvas shoe, and melt it with a hairdryer. The wax will disappear and act as a protective coating. ➢ Cure a sore throat:  Bet you never thought of eating marshmallows. The gelatin in marshmallows coats and soothes a sore throat. (If it doesn't work try s'more!) ➢ Remove ink stains:  One word: WD-40. But be careful; it will damage delicate fabrics. (WD-40 isn't even a word!) ➢ Staticky hair:  Take a dryer sheet and stick it to the base of your brush. They can also be used in stinky shoes to remove the smell. (Just be sure to do it in that order…) ➢ Smartphone stand:  In a pinch, simply flip a pair of sunglasses upside down. (And commence squinting!) ➢ Check batteries:  Drop an alkaline battery from 6 inches on a flat surface, negative side down. If it bounces once (or not at all), it's good. If it bounces more, it's dead. ➢ Unclog a toilet:  If you don't have a plunger handy, get a large water or pop bottle and cut off the top. Plunge away! ➢ Express elevator:  If you need to get to your floor quickly (and are alone in the elevator), push the close door button and hold it, then push the floor you need to go to. The elevator should ignore all other floors and go right to yours. Note: In some elevators the “door close” button doesn't work at all and is just a placebo. From Raw, Reckless Abandonment to Christ…In the classic movie Rocky III, we saw our hero going from underdog to the Heavyweight Champion of the World. And in achieving his goal, Rocky went through some internal and external changes. No longer was he full of passion for the fight game. No longer was there a lofty goal to achieve, a supreme purpose in his life. Now, as champion, his days were no longer filled with dreams of sacrifice and winning, but of the fear of losing what he had already accomplished. And this change is best described in the words of Mickey, his wise trainer. “For years, you were supernatural. You had this cast iron jaw. But then the worst thing happened to you that could happen to any fighter. You got civilized.” Ah, civilized. No longer the brute, the savage. But now a gentleman savoring the rewards of past victories and fame. Being more concerned about maintaining the status quo than serving with total commitment and reckless abandonment to a cause greater than himself. And unfortunately, we could say the same about many, maybe most, in the church today. At one time, we were fearless, totally committed, passionate, and full of faith. We were ready and willing to charge the fires of hell with nothing more than a squirt gun in our hands. But not now. Not anymore. Now we seem more content with being served than serving, to being taught than teaching, and to watching ministry rather than actively taking part in it. What happened? Where did the passion and drive for Him go? The same thing that happened to Rocky has happened to us. We became civilized. And what is the remedy for this dire situation? One word, revival. To Comfortable Apathy and CompromiseSo what is a revival? And how does a spiritual revival take place? First, let's look at the definition of revival. A revival refers to a spiritual awakening from a state of dormancy or stagnation in the life of a believer. Or, to put it another way, a revival moves a believer from being content, lukewarm, or “civilized”— to a person they once were, full of faith and passion and a great, fearless desire to serve the Lord. This is what His church so desperately needs. Which brings us to the most important question: Does God show us in His Word how to move from stagnation to fervency? Does He reveal to us the steps to experience revival? And the answer is a resounding, yes! In Revelation 2 and 3, the Lord, in His seven letters to seven churches, lays out for us the history of the church in advance (we have looked at this amazing truth in the past). And if God listed these letters in any other order, this would not be so. But they also, amazingly, reveal to us the life-cycle of most believers and show us the key to experiencing revival and the Higher Christian Life. In some of these letters, the Lord has only good things to say. In others, only bad. But for most, He gives both a commendation and a rebuke, and demands repentance to do what they should have been doing from the beginning. Even the names of the seven churches are prophetic in nature. First, Unclog the Drain…In Acts 4, we see the first organized governmental persecution of the early church. They were told, in no uncertain terms, not to “speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus” (Acts 4:18). As we have previously discussed, the issue was one of authority and whose authority the church would bow to. Respectively, the disciples refused to follow the governmental mandate, and Christian civil disobedience was born (Acts 4:20). When they returned and reported to their brethren what the government demanded and their response, the entire church broke into a spontaneous time of praise and prayer that is unequaled in the book of Acts. First, they understood the Biblical basis for their persecution. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, and the people plot vain things? The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD and against His Christ' – Acts 4:24-26. Next, they acknowledged God's sovereignty in all they were suffering. “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done” – Acts 4:27-28. And finally, they offered to God their two prayer requests. “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and (1) grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by (2) stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus” – Acts 4:29-30. So what happened next? They experienced the dramatic power of the Holy Spirit, and God immediately answered their first prayer request. And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and (1) they spoke the word of God with boldness – Acts 4:31. But when was their second prayer request answered? Not until Acts 5, beginning with verse 12 and following. And through the hands of the apostles (2) many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch – Acts 5:12. This raises just a few questions. Chiefly, why the delay? Why was one request answered immediately and the other took some time? Was there something that needed to be done by the church before they could receive answer two? Or was there some lesson the Lord was trying to teach them, and us, regarding receiving answers to prayer? If so, what can we learn from this? And why is it even important? Then, His Living Water Will FlowIt appears something needed to happen to unclog the drain that was hindering the church from experiencing the free-flowing Spirit they had before. And it seemed to involve the hypocrisy, and possibly the church's acceptance of this hypocrisy, that was centered on a man named Ananias and his wife, Sapphira. I am sure you are familiar with the story. You can read about them in Acts 5:1-12. Needless to say, God's actions against these two seem, from our vantage point, somewhat heavy-handed, even bordering on overkill.  But we forget about Nadab and Abihu, who offered “profane fire before the Lord” (Ex. 28:1), and Uzza, whose only crime was trying to keep the Ark of God from falling in the mud (2 Sam. 6:6-7). In both instances, God's actions seem extreme when seen through the eyes of fallen, unholy men, like us. But God sees things differently, especially when His honor and glory are at stake (Mal. 1:6-14). So what can we learn from the life of Ananias and Sapphira? Let me give you just a few points. •  There will always be tares among the wheat, just like Jesus...

I was at a family members house and the kids clogged the toilet. Bad thing is, there was no plunger in sight. So I unclogged it - with my hands!
