Watch Off the Bench Presented by UDF with Chatterbox Sports Monday-Friday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. LIVE on the Chatterbox Sports YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE to the channel to ensure you never miss a thing. As of March 7, 2025, Cincinnati Bengals' All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been granted permission to seek a trade, marking a significant shift after the team rebuffed a similar request in 2024. Hendrickson, who led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024 and earned his first All-Pro nod, is in the final year of his contract, set to earn a $15.8 million base salary with a $18.66 million cap hit in 2025. With no guaranteed money remaining, the 30-year-old edge rusher is seeking a long-term extension that aligns with his elite production—35 sacks over the past two seasons—rather than the one-year extension he signed in 2023. The Bengals' decision to allow this exploration comes amid financial pressures, as they prioritize lucrative extensions for wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, alongside managing Joe Burrow's massive contract. Trading Hendrickson would save Cincinnati $16 million in cap space, though it leaves their defense, already weakened by Sam Hubbard's retirement, in a precarious position. Hendrickson's trade request has sparked interest across the NFL, with several teams emerging as potential suitors. The Detroit Lions, flush with $51 million in cap space, are a prime candidate. After losing Aidan Hutchinson to injury last season, they traded for Za'Darius Smith, but Hendrickson could form a dynamic duo with a recovering Hutchinson, bolstering their pass rush for a Super Bowl push. The Washington Commanders, linked early as suitors, need to replace free agent Dante Fowler Jr.'s 10.5 sacks from 2024. With head coach Dan Quinn favoring an edge-heavy defense, Hendrickson fits their aggressive rebuild. The Atlanta Falcons, desperate for pass-rush help after a lackluster season from Matt Judon, also see Hendrickson as an instant upgrade to complement their NFC South ambitions, though cap constraints may complicate a deal. Other possibilities include the Chicago Bears, leveraging defensive coordinator Dennis Allen's past ties to Hendrickson from New Orleans, and the Indianapolis Colts, where former Bengals coordinator Lou Anarumo now resides. Both teams could pair Hendrickson with existing stars—Montez Sweat in Chicago, DeForest Buckner in Indy—to elevate their defenses. With his market value likely fetching at least a second-round pick, Hendrickson's next move will hinge on a team's willingness to offer both draft capital and a contract nearing the $35 million annual benchmark set by Maxx Crosby.

Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. Jon continues hour two by talking all things Atlanta Falcons with Tori McElhaney of the Athletic. Jon starts things off by asking Tori what’s the injury report looking like for the Falcons, especially Julio Jones. Tori responds by basically saying that Todd’s hamstring is still bothering him, and we’ll see how it looks after a few days “and the same goes for Julio Jones.” Next, Chuck asks about the coaching staff and whether they are trying to get these players back too quick, or if they are giving the players enough time to recover. Tori responds by saying that “Raheem Morris and Dirk Koetter would love to have Julio Jones and Dante Fowler Jr. healthy”, but they need the other guys behind them to step up. Chuck follows up that question by asking about specifically Julio Jones, and what the Falcons will have to do without him on the field. Tori responds by saying that “The Falcons have played a few games without Julio Jones, he hasn’t been 100% all season, so the Falcons and Matt Ryan have to find other guys. I know Todd Gurley is out this week, but you have to get you running backs involved and Hayden Hurst. They’re going to double team until the cows come home.” Jon continues by asking Tori about the Raiders offense and what the Falcons have to do defensively, and Tori responds by saying “It all starts with Grady in the middle.” Tori continued by basically saying that it continues with the defensive line as a whole bringing down Derek Carr. Lastly, Chuck asked Tori about the offense and what they have to do to get in the endzone. Tori responds by saying that “she feels like the Falcons are almost there. It seems like they get three, four, or five yards, but they are a block away from ten, fifteen, twenty yards.” Tori continues by saying that “After only scoring nine points the Falcons have to get into the endzone.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome back everyone!Thank you as always for joining us on our Rams journey, it is a long and painful one...Well This week the guys talk about some Rams news including the coaching staff being filled out and McVay is confident in the O Line.We then go into some combine stuff, was it a big deal the Rams had limited participation?A focus on some internal free agents and for some reason Dante Fowler Jr became a huge topic. Also, pay close attention to the middleish portion of the show. Jamal Adams made his way back into lineups after two weeks out with an ankle injury, Chandler Jones made a HUGE statement against Russell Wilson and the Seahawks for defensive player of the year and Dante Fowler Jr put up a big game when it counted. Other notable performances from the championship week included the Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebackers, Lavonte David and Devin White. Along with the IDP breakdowns the guys talked a little bit about the upcoming NFL drafts and what the Bengals will do the, now secured, #1 overall pick. Burrow or Young? Hopefully, the IDP Army took home some hardware this season and we look forward to preparing for the 2020 season in the coming months! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theidp411/support

They also have a major problem in that they can’t really clear up their cut with easy cuts. They can get some marginal savings from cutting, Nickell Robey-Coleman CB-clearing $4,500,000, Eric Weddle FS ($500,001 dead cap) clearing $4,250,525 and Clay Matthews, OLB, ($2,000,000 cap ) getting about $3,750,00 in savingsThe Rams also save a bunch of players potentially leaving in free agency- including Dante Fowler Jr., Andrew Whitworth LT, Michael Brockers DT, Cory Littleton ILB, and Greg Zuerlein the Kicker. They also don’t have a first round pick in the NFL draft for the next two years (2020 and 2021 NFL Drafts). Also does Whitworth retire? Can they fix the o-line that made their team take a step back? One thing is clear the Rams need to fix the offensive line, they have some major players departing and they are crushed under the cap. They could also use some cornerback depth and maybe some pashrush? Its a mess with the Rams- hopefully they figure out a way to get some relief or McVey is gonna lose the clout he’s built the last few years. The Cincinnati Bengals are returning with Zac Taylor who went 2-14 in his first year. They have an Est. $48,029,642 in free cap. That's decent but keep in mind the Bengals tend to be cheap. They can clear some cap by moving on from Quarterback Andy Dalton which saves $17,700,000, Left Tackle Cordy Glenn, saving $9,500,000, and strong safety Shawn Williams ($400,000 in dead cap ) $4,085,000 in savings. .Some guys potentially leaving for free agency- A.J. Green, Darqueze Dennard CB, Tyler Eifert TE, John Jerry G, Nick Vigil OLB, Andrew Billings DT, and RFA Guard Alex Redmond. This team needs DT, O-line, playmakers and they can’t afford to be losing too much of the talent they have.Good News! They do have all their picks in the 2020 NFL draft this year- and top off each round and the draft with the number 1 overall pick. Clearly Joe Burrow is the top player in conversation for the number 1 overall pick. There’s been some rumors with interest in Justing Herbet as well and Chase young always has to be in consideration. Maybe a major trade will happen? For the number 1 pick? For Andy Dalton?
