Hey, it's Cha Wilde, and I'm excited to guide you through today's yoga session. Let's start by getting comfortable and tuning into our breath. Introduction and Breathing Exercises Welcome, everyone! If you have props like bolsters or pillows, feel free to grab them. We'll begin with some seated breathing exercises, gently moving our arms and rolling our necks to awaken the body. 00:03:44 - Child's Pose and Grounding Now, let's sink into Child's Pose. This pose is so therapeutic—let's really connect with our bodies here. Moving onto all fours, press into the ground and feel that stability and presence. 00:07:59 - Downward-Facing Dog and Variations From here, we'll flow into Downward-Facing Dog. Engage those muscles, and don't be afraid to modify the pose. I'll guide you through variations like Turbo Dog and Melting Heart Pose, where we blend Child's Pose and Downward Dog. 00:15:27 - Shoulder Stretches Next, we'll focus on our shoulders. Try Eagle Arms, wrapping those arms tight, and let's do some arm circles. Notice how your body feels and release any tension you're holding onto. 00:25:09 - Closing and Gratitude As we wind down, let's return to seated breathing exercises. Take a moment to express gratitude for your body and all it does for you. Reflect on the physical and mental shifts you've experienced during our practice today. ------------------------ ✨ Welcome to Cha Wilde's YouTube channel dedicated to healing. It's time for another mid-week episode, and I dearly hope you all aren't getting podcast fatigue at this point, or are tired of hearing of miracles and magic! I am ever so grateful to each and every one of you who listens, and it's such a happiness that I get to meet people who are doing good works, talk to them, and then bring their stories to you! This episode my guest is Minister and Chaplain Roger Butts, who tells a simple, yet powerful tale-one I don't want to ruin by spilling the beans...but suffice it to say it takes place in a hospital with one frail and elderly patient, and the truth and beauty she brought to the end of her life. (as well as to Roger who was lucky enough and blessed enough to be present to her). I hope this story reminds each and every one of you to embody gratitude each and every moment! To read a bit of Roger's writing on his blog, "The Chaplain's Corner," click here: https://contemplativelight.org/blog-roger-butts/ To check out Roger's book, "Seeds of Devotion," click here: https://www.amazon.com/Seeds-Devotion-Weekly-Contemplations-Faith/dp/1951694368 Lots of my guests are bringing such beauty into the world, and sharing their ideas and words through their writings...which is exciting, because we need diverse works for diverse peoples! Not every author's idea is going to resonate with everyone, so having lots of different viewpoints is essential! Thanks for your ratings and reviews this week... Hey Queerios, We're back with an all-new episode!! This week, I'm joined once again by the one and only Randy Harrison and we've got BIG NEWS: Randy's my new co-host!! We start off looking at the Bottom 5 news stories of the week. We've got Santino having a meltdown on twitter, Laura Osnes refusing the jab, and of course, some Lil' Nas X-stasy. After that we play a new Stupid Quiz: Asana-nah-nah and we test how well Randy knows his own Downward Facing Dog (hint: disturbingly well). That leads us into this week's Pop Culture Moment where we discuss the new Mike White written and directed, HBO MAX Limited Series, White Lotus. And we spill the tea on all the Namas-té!! That leads us into a Deep Dive on serenity, new age healing, and the inequities around wellness. I promise it might make sense. And of course, we end with this week's ConsQUEERacies...which we both make up on the spot. The truth is here. The truth is queer. And she could really use a spa day. And don't forget to check out the songs 'Rabbit Hole' by Valerie Orth, and 'It's All Connected' by Andy Bull, which are both featured each week.
this one starts with a tutorial on Downward Facing Dog and moves into a steady full-body awakening flow and to practice and refine your skills.
Session #3 Roll out your mat as you will be practicing various down dog variations and options, transitions during flows. Downward Facing Dog is one of the most recognized and foundational postures in Asana. It's important to understand how YOUR body best responds in this inversion as you will be upside down, as well as how to transition from grounding poses to standing poses. Recorded via Zoom for my private online Yoga 101 students and shared with Yoga Podcast listeners! Stay tuned weekly for Yoga 101 Sessions!
Join Nik for a meaty episode about the hamstring muscle group (Biceps femoris, Semitendinosus, and Semimembranosus). Here she gives real world examples from her days of teaching yoga on how "tight" hamstrings are making it hard to touch your toes in Forward Fold and why you don't need straight knees in Down Dog. Lastly, Nik gives another biomechanics lesson on muscle contractions (concentric, isometric, and eccentric), bringing in more examples from the gait cycle. Learn what happens when your posture leaves perfect alignment and how walking is basically nothing but a controlled fall...oh yeah, and why your hamstrings keep you from doing backflips every time you take a step. Origins, insertions, innervations, and actions are ALWAYS included. Chow down. This one takes a bit to digest. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
In this episode we looked one of the most visited postures in the yoga world, downward facing dog. We talk about its numerous benefits, both physical and mental when practiced regularly. We also talk about ow to slowly build up your downward dog practice to let it one day become your resting pose. It wouldn't be a Corewalking if we didn't speak bout alignment so we focus on alignment of hands and feet and how indicative your dog is of your standing posture.

Deeply explore Yoga’s Downward-Facing Dog pose in a practice inspired by the Dog Spirit card from Colette Baron-Reid’s The Spirit Animal Oracle. The card’s message is to be loyal to what you love, but also consider what you need to let go so you have room to grow. Just like the notion that your heels must reach the floor in Down Dog (hint: they don’t), what are you holding onto because you’ve always done in that way? Where is your loyalty wasted on what doesn’t serve you? This is a slow paced introspective backbend practice. If your not familiar with the transition known as 'flipping the dog' between Downward Facing Dog and Wheel pose then look it up online before practice. 1 block, 1 strap, 1 blanket or bolster. Enjoy!
This is a 60-minute Gentle Flow. The focus of this class is the core - the powerhouse of stability that wraps around the center of the body and includes not only the front, but also the sides and the back. This class is a slow burn - we move with intention and honor the breath, while holding poses for a spell or two and feeling the burn. You will begin to notice new components in foundational poses such as Downward Facing Dog, Warrior 2, and Table Top. We explore alternatives to the classic Vinyasa high to mid plank transition, such Locust, Rolling cobra, and Child’s pose. We activate the core in a variety of side stretches and strengthen it in balancing poses on hands and knees as well as in standing postures. Special attention is given to achieving a balance between hip flexion and hip extension. If you love core work, this class is for you. If you dislike core work, this class is also for you. This is not a “Belly Blast” VHS workout from 90s. You will be challenged. More importantly, you will be pleasantly surprised. Enjoy!

YOGA POSE BREAKDOWN: Warrior I Sanskrit: Virabhadrasana I Today we discuss Warrior I pose or Virabhadrasana I. A member of the powerful Warrior Poses, this particular pose is commonly started from Downward Facing Dog or from Mountain pose. It is a standing & strength posture and is common in vinyasa flow classes. Some believe it’s complicated and choose to skip it altogether and replace it with Crescent Lunge, changing the placement of the back foot from a 45 degree angle in Warrior I to taking those back toes pointed towards the top of your mat. Listen as I breakdown this pose and hopefully give you the confidence to add it to your practice. NAMASTE! This may be the first time these words have appeared in the same sentence except within America’s largest active-duty, armored US military base. Today’s show will destroy many of the stereotypes that present major barriers in the minds of many to taking up a practice of yoga and meditation. Many men, for example think it’s not macho enough or that they aren’t as flexible as the women they see in magazine pictures and they will be embarrassed. Many seniors think they’re too old. Kids, teens and college students are often too busy with their social media devices and apps and African Americans and Latinos often think that “no one like me does yoga”. If you fall into one of these categories, you will find many just like you, actively using yoga and meditation to regulate the stress and anxiety in their lives. My guest today is Dr. Beth Funk. Dr. Funk is on the frontline in a number of ways in helping American military service members and their families cope with lives that are marked with uncertainty and subject to constant change. She grew up in an Army family and has been an Army wife and professional educator for 31 years. I’m not sure there’s such a thing as a royal military family, but, she’s as close as one can be. Her father General, Paul Yeosock commanded all US Army ground forces during Desert Storm. Her husband, Lieutenant General Paul Funk II is the base commander at Ft Hood and is currently on deployment in Iraq, and her father-in-law is General Paul Funk Sr. US Army Ret. She is sometimes, affectionately referred to as the First Lady of Fort Hood. As with most who grew up in an Army family, Beth attended 10 different schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated from Marymount International High School in Rome, Italy. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Elementary and Special Education, she also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Continuing her life’s mission of service, she has taken on a new mission and this is our topic for today. She owns a business, Life Moves Yoga, dedicated to serving the entire demographic profile at Ft Hood, including the enlistee, their families and the large civilian employee at the base. She and her instructors specialize in trauma sensitive, therapeutic and adaptive yoga. As briefly mentioned before, the stability that the rest of us strive for our entire lives, is virtually unknown to the military family. Setting aside the stress of overseas deployments for the enlistee, the requirement to pick up and move without a lot of advance notice is a constant in the life of the military family. Building the coping skills and resilience in a population that ranges from young children to adults and seniors is a major challenge, but, that is the herculean task Beth and her team have undertaken. She is the recipient of a number of awards, including The Secretary of the Army’s Public Service Award, The Department of the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal, The Yellow Rose of Texas, The Saint Joan of Arc Award, The Molly Pitcher Award, The Margaret C. Corbin Award, and The Dr. Mary E. Walker Award. This is not your stereotypical big city yoga studio serving a clientele that does yoga primarily for the physical body benefits. --How yoga is for everybody, and every body. --How secondary trauma is a condition for the wives and children. I'm going to stop saying that I'm going to post more episodes more often. I absolutely don't know! Agh! Mind you, I'm now all set up technically, finally! I've been recording more consistently, so now it's just a about editing and posting :) I have recorded more than one class, and I'm refining my workflow so that I can TRULY post more episodes. I'm sure you all know by now, I'm a new Mom. My little baby is 7 months as I write this post. She has now settled into herself more, which is allowing me time to step into my own self. The only time that I have to upload, edit, post, etc. is when Hunter is sleeping. Those naps are the sacred time when I can do fun stuff like this podcast, PLUS all of the gazillion things that I have to catch up on: dishes, showers, general clean up, answering emails, paying bills, you get the picture. All I can say is that there aren't enough hours in the day to do ALL that I want to do. My life continues to ebb and flow and my biggest focus is on always remembering to constantly re-align....OH, that's the next episode! In this week's episode I talk about LISTENING. It was all brought about by my latest venture: teaching other yoga teachers/professionals to podcast. I actually did my first 'virtual' workshop! It was very cool. Anyway, within the workshop I explained why I'm partial to an AUDIO yoga class as opposed to VIDEO. Y'all can listen to my intro to find out why ;) And my new site! YoGeek.Me Thank you for continuing to listen. I so appreciate you guys very very much. Enjoy the yoga class! Here are all the places that you can find me! When we choose to soften and listen in our life, we begin to open up to a deeper place within ourselves that is powerful on its own without pushing it in any direction by paying close attention we flow into be-ing. Giving ourselves permission to connect to our inner voice and surroundings takes passive action - it's softer, more sensitive. This may be scary for some of us to allow the world to come to us but actually it takes us into parts of ourselves that may not be readily attuned. We all have this ability but it takes practice to see and be who we are. We have the freedom to ignore everything but if we take he time to soften, light a candle, say a prayer creating a sacred place we will uncover this grand energy that is closer to you than your breath. Before you do you do your practice, I invite you to check in to see if you have the tendency to just push through and not listen to your body and perhaps you can deepen your awareness by creating a space to let the world come to you and receive. Authentic love is not a vague sentiment or a blind passion. It is an inner attitude that involves the whole human being. It is looking at others not to use them but to serve them. It is the ability to rejoice with those who are rejoicing and to suffer with those that are suffering. It is sharing what one possesses so that no one may continue to be deprived of what he needs. Love, in a word, is the gift of self. -Pope John Paul II YOU CAN STILL DONATE TO CORAZON DE VIDA! Join Victor and I for the Typical Mac User Live show on February 25th!
