The Los Angeles Kings have turned to Peter Laviolette as their new head coach, a move that feels like a logical short-term fit for a team looking to remain competitive while its young core continues to develop. In Edmonton, reports that several Oilers stars played a major role in interviewing Mike Babcock have sparked debate about how much influence players should have in coaching hires and where the balance of power lies between the dressing room and management. The Babcock process remains in limbo with no clear timeline for the league's review, leading to questions about whether the Oilers could revisit Bruce Cassidy if things fall apart, or whether they already know Vegas won't permit that conversation. Meanwhile, the Stanley Cup Final is tied after Carolina's Game 4 win, powered by two more goals from captain Jordan Staal, who has been a dominant force at age 37 with five goals in four games and countless key faceoff victories. The series has produced an incredible 33 goals through four games, the second-highest total in Final history at that stage, fueled by relentless pressure and goaltending that has been solid but hardly dominant. Benefits Are a Recruiting and Retention Weapon Katya emphasizes that benefits extend far beyond table stakes like dental and disability. Standout offerings — family planning, pet telemedicine, wellness days, and generous PTO — are central to 1Password's employer brand and a real differentiator in a competitive talent market. 2. Employer Healthcare Contributions Matter More Than Most Candidates Realize The portion a company pays toward employee healthcare can represent thousands of dollars in annual value. Katya urges candidates to factor this into their true compensation comparison — not just base salary. 3. Benefits Only Work If Employees Know About Them and Use Them 1Password achieves high utilization through proactive education, easy administration, annual focus groups by country, and renewal-time communications that show employees the dollar value of their benefits package. 4. Start New Hires on a Wednesday — Not a Monday By onboarding all new employees on Wednesdays, 1Password ensures managers are focused and ready, systems are set up, and new hires get 3 days of company-led orientation before their team ramps up. It's a simple change with an outsized impact on first impressions. 5. Radical Transparency Reduces Mis-Hires Rather than selling every candidate on the company, Katya actively explains the challenges of remote work and the intensity of 1Password's mission. The company even includes language in offer materials saying "1Password might not be the place for you." This honest framing reduces early attrition. 6. Remote Culture Requires Intentional Design Staying connected across time zones doesn't happen by accident. 1Password invests in city-by- city in-person gatherings, structured all-hands, manager training on relationship-building over Zoom, and employee resource groups to keep culture alive. 7. AI Is Reshaping Recruiting — And Security-First Companies Are Ahead of the Curve 1Password has implemented fraud detection tools at the top of the application funnel, trained interviewers to identify AI-generated content, and instituted multi-stage interview loops with mandatory in-person finalists for senior hires. 8. Don't Cut Benefits When Things Get Tight Benefits are foundational to culture and trust. Katya argues that benefits should be among the last things cut in a cost-reduction scenario — the ROI from retention, productivity, and employer brand far outweighs the savings. 9. Time Is Currency for Employees Whether it's concierge benefits that handle personal logistics, flexible scheduling for a remote lifestyle, or wellness days that give genuine mental recharge time — giving employees their time back is one of the highest-ROI investments a company can make.

What if the most important warning in human history was written 3,600 years ago, buried in a text that most scholars refuse to examine, and is pointing directly at our lifetime? The Egyptians called it "The Destroyer." The Celts called it "The Frightener." The Sumerians called it Nibiru. The Book of Revelation calls it Wormwood. The Hopi called it the Blue Kachina. Tonight's guest says they are all describing the same object, and it is coming back. In 1983, I was in high school, and my science teacher read the news to our class that NASA had just identified a new planet in our solar system. The only thing left to do was name it. Years later, in my one and final interview with Zecharia Sitchin before his death, I told him that story. His response stopped me cold. He said, the question is not what they will name it. The question is, what would the consequences be if the information were made public. That question has haunted me ever since. And tonight, we may finally have the answer. On December 26, 2012, five days after the world laughed off the Mayan calendar date, Marshall Masters was watching a live volcanic webcam in Costa Rica, and he saw something that changed the course of his life. He spent the next decade building an orbital model for what he calls the Nemesis Mini-constellation system, a brown dwarf star he believes is our Sun's binary twin, orbiting on a 3,600-year cycle, and closing in on Earth right now. His most recent book contains a prophecy timeline from 2024 through 2037. A pole shift around 2030. A five-event sequence that includes a deep impact in the Atlantic, days of darkness, a reversal of the Earth's rotation, and solar events that make the 1859 Carrington Event look like a flicker. Dr. Paul LaViolette has argued that the Carrington Event was not a simple coronal mass ejection but the result of a galactic superwave. If he is right, and if Marshall is right, what is coming will dwarf anything in recorded history. We are inside that window right now. Tonight we go through all of it. The Kolbrin Bible and what it actually says about what is coming. The Nemesis system and the evidence Marshall has been tracking for over a decade. The connections to Sitchin, LaViolette, and the Hopi prophecies. The 2030 timeline and where we stand on it right now in 2026. The NASA suppression that goes all the way back to that 1983 announcement my teacher read to our class. The remote viewing session that rewired the direction of Marshall's life for eight years. The survival community model he built to outlast the tribulation. And the question Sitchin asked me that I have never been able to shake, what would the consequences be, if the information were made public.

Pirate Gold Corp CEO Denis Laviollette joined Angela Harmantas at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada or PDAC conference in Toronto to share news about the company's Treasure Island project in Newfoundland and the launch of a major drill program targeting gold discovery in one of Canada's most prospective emerging districts. Laviolette explained that Pirate Gold Corp embraces a “treasure hunting” ethos, describing exploration as both science and calculated risk. “We follow the clues… and then test our theories to see if we could find buried treasure,” he said, outlining the disciplined geological approach behind the company's strategy. Treasure Island is located in Newfoundland, a jurisdiction Laviolette believes has the hallmarks of a world-class orogenic gold district. He highlighted similarities between the company's Moosehead project and other major regional discoveries, noting that “the rocks are the same… the style of veining is identical, the grades are identical.” While Moosehead currently represents an early-stage system, the company is focused on expanding known zones through systematic drilling. With drills turning, Pirate Gold Corp is aiming to test multiple targets and build scale. Laviolette emphasized that the company is well-funded and prepared to aggressively pursue discovery opportunities. He also discussed Pirate Gold Corp's commitment to transparency, including regular video updates for investors. “We want people to understand the clues that we're putting together,” he said, adding that consistent communication can help build a stronger and more stable shareholder base. #proactiveinvestors #pirategoldcorp #tsxv #yarr #otcqb #sicnf #pdac2026 #PirateGoldCorp#DenisLaviolette #TreasureIsland #NewfoundlandGold #GoldExploration #GoldDrilling #JuniorMining #MiningStocks #GoldDiscovery #ResourceInvesting

For the first time in five years, I sat down with my friend Bill Laviolette—this time inside his brand-new Shotgun Willie's location in East Nashville. This episode marks the first-ever recording in the space, and it couldn't have been more fitting as we dug into the real challenges of opening, owning, and operating a restaurant in today's Nashville.Bill shares candid insights on:The realities of building and moving into a new restaurant space in East NashvilleStaffing in a hyper-competitive labor market, and how he's building a strong team cultureManaging skyrocketing food and beverage costs while keeping prices approachableHow to balance being a neighborhood spot while attracting a broader audienceThe role of community support, vendor partnerships, and hospitality “grit” in keeping the doors openThis isn't just a conversation about one restaurant—it's a snapshot of what it really takes to run a business in Nashville right now. Bill's honesty and experience make this an essential listen for anyone connected to the hospitality industry.

Send us a textWhat happens when you combine military experience, personal recovery, cutting-edge trauma therapies, and the healing power of nature? Beau Laviolette's remarkable journey answers this question through a story of transformation and purpose. From the sugar cane fields of Louisiana to the Marine Corps and back again, Beau's path wasn't straightforward. After military service ended unexpectedly due to seizures, he faced addiction struggles that eventually led him to recovery and a calling to help others. This deeply personal experience became the foundation for his approach to trauma healing, combining Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy using the Syzyge method.Beau takes us through his discovery of these powerful modalities and how they complement each other, particularly when working with complex trauma. While EMDR helps process traumatic memories, IFS provides the framework to understand the protective parts of ourselves that develop in response to trauma. This combination creates a comprehensive approach that addresses both neurobiological and psychological aspects of trauma recovery. The conversation ventures into fascinating territory as Beau describes his veteran-focused nature retreats. These immersive experiences take healing beyond the constraints of office therapy, allowing veterans to "unplug, connect, and let go" in natural settings. He explains how nature inherently contains qualities that facilitate access to what IFS calls "self-energy" – our core self characterized by compassion, curiosity, and calm.Developing Meaning is NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY INSTITUTIONS and is NOT INTENDED AS MEDICAL ADVICE.Theme Music by The Thrashing Skumz.Produced by Dirk Winter MD PhD and brought to you by Consilient Mind LLC.

Send us a textHow dietary fats and cannabinoids shape brain function and mental well-being.Episode Summary: Dr. Steven Laviolette discusses the role of lipids, particularly endocannabinoids and fatty acids, in brain signaling and mental health, discussing how dietary omega-3 and omega-6 imbalances, prenatal THC exposure, and fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs) impact mood, anxiety, and neuroinflammation, while highlighting potential dietary interventions to mitigate these effects.About the guest: Steven Laviolette, PhD is a professor at the University of Western Ontario, holding a PhD, and his lab focuses on the brain's cannabinoid system and its role in mental health. He investigates how cannabinoids and fatty acids influence brain development and disorders like anxiety and schizophrenia.Discussion Points:The brain uses fats like endocannabinoids (e.g., anandamide, 2-AG) not just for structure but as signaling molecules to regulate emotional and cognitive processing.Prenatal THC exposure in rodents skews the omega-3/omega-6 balance toward pro-inflammatory omega-6, leading to cognitive and mood issues in offspring, but omega-3 supplementation can mitigate these effects.Fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs), especially FABP5, shuttle endocannabinoids like anandamide to degradation sites, and inhibiting FABP5 increases anandamide levels, reducing anxiety and depression without addictive side effects.FABP5 inhibitors show promise as safer alternatives to benzodiazepines. Both THC and CBD can induce problems during early development, challenging the notion that CBD is universally safe, especially during pregnancy.Dietary interventions, like omega-3 supplementation or antioxidants (e.g., L-theanine, N-acetylcysteine), may counteract the negative psychiatric effects of cannabinoid exposure, particularly during adolescence. The North American diet, high in omega-6, contributes to neuroinflammation and mental health issues, underscoring the need for nutritional neuroscience to address these imbalances.Related episode:M&M 165: PUFAs in Brain Health & Disease, Dietary Fats, Brain Lipids, Nutrition | Richard Bazinet*Not medical advice.Support the showAll episodes, show notes, transcripts, and more at the M&M Substack Affiliates: KetoCitra—Ketone body BHB + potassium, calcium & magnesium, formulated with kidney health in mind.
