What up Fellas!
In this season one finale episode, we reviewed The Forever Story by JID, Shiny Eyed Babies by Bent Knee, and Ice Melt by Crumb. Three personal favorites!

I had the pleasure of sitting down with one of the coolest young artists in Humboldt County, Rowdy. I talked with Rowdy about his early first experiences in the music business, and an interesting story about a record label deal in Los Angeles. Rowdy also talks about the music and his growth. He's been producing, learning piano and other instruments. Him and his boy Cam built their own studio and they are constantly leveling up towards their goals and vision. Rowdy talks about the beautiful people who are doing great things by providing outlets for youth right now in Humboldt County — Maggie (principal at Hoopa High), Zach Lehner (educator, and one of the founders/as well as current President of the Humboldt Hip Hop Congress), and JUiCE from JUiCEBox - all doing work to grow people here in Humboldt. Rowdy talks about the beauty of hip hop. The longevity of it and how he wants to make timeless music. We talked about the power of Kendrick Lamar and how timeless his work is. We talked about Mr Morale and The Big Steppers. We talked about JID and The Forever Story. We talked about J Cole, Tyler the Creator and the importance of being yourself. We talked about Mac Miller and the power of the music he made while he was here. Rowdy gives his propers to Cameron for all the support he's given him. There was a lot of prolific conversation, it was a really fire interview, so don't miss this episode! This week we talk movie dates and going back to theaters. We also talk JOJO's Stone Ocean and Netflix missteps with its release schedule. Bee and PuppyCat is a banger, Bastard not so much. A Space ghost coast to coast reboot would hit. Mystery School US is still killing it but what's next? Atlanta's gentrification is still out of control. JID put up numbers on his new album The Forever Story. Listen in while we cover all these topics and so much more!
JID is an open book. And last year, the East Atlanta native released his critically acclaimed album, The Forever Story. In support of the project, he's hitting the road this January with Smino on their co-headlining, Luv Is 4 Ever tour. But before coming to a city near you, JID chops it up with B.Dot and Elliott on his banner year, family, new music, and much more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

So blessed to have sat down with Soul, Reeph, and JUiCE from City Hippie for episode 24 of the HipHopHumboldt podcast! We chopped it up in JUiCE's studio in Arcata. They got into how they came up, what they've been doing during the pandemic, the pitfalls and hardships of the game, how they keep current with today's social media trends, and all kinds of popular topics including PnB Rock's murder in Los Angeles, the Queen's death, classism, guns and grime music in the UK, marketing the music in other countries(PEEP FREE GAME FROM JUiCE), the importance of consistency and self promotion, ghostwriting, Drake's "Honestly Nevermind", our favorite tracks from J.I.D.'s "The Forever Story", Ty Dolla $ign, and Roddy Rich. They talked about opening for B.o.B at the Mateel earlier this year, and artists that put on good shows versus artists that don't. There were some gems and some really fun moments. On this episode of The Lyricist Lounge we breakdown the new JID album The Forever Story.
Our first guest of Season 3 is none other than the multitalented Alex Muir. Mr. Muir is a Human Resource Technician and Future Work Strategist. Before his current role, Alex was a Management Consultant at KPMG and EY. As a Cornell University grad with over 15 years of experience in HR, Finance, and Business Development, we were able to tap into some of his knowledge as it relates to the intersection of business of science. He shares how he works with scientists to elevate their professional development, no matter what stage of career they are in. He challenges our audience to leverage the technology that we have at our fingertips to create opportunities, share our research, and tell the story that shows the value of our work and how we are uniquely positioned to fulfil scientific and business needs. He encourages his clients and our listeners to be clear on the questions someone is asking you. If there is any that's unclear, be sure to get clarity on the purpose of the question. People may sometimes ask loaded questions during conversations or interviews, but it's incumbent upon us to ask for clarification so that both parties are on the same page and engage in clear and comprehensive dialogue. In this episode we discuss rap and how the mainstream today is more "plastic" than ever before. First we discuss JID's new album, "The Forever Story", and use this thoughts/review section to transition into the discussion of the mainstream rap/r&b charts. Is the state of the billboard top 10, etc. tracks good? We believe mainstream rap specifically is lacking variety and substance. We compare the past decade and current days to eras like the 2000's, 90's, and late 80s. Are lyrics not cool anymore? Do you have to follow a "meta" to gain MASS commerical success in the music industry? Why does so little of gen z respect/listen to older hip-hop? Is it even a problem? Why are the only female rap/r&b artists that get to the top of the charts the ones that heavily sexualize themselves? Who is to blame for the state of the music industry? The suppliers, or the consumers? A number of questions are asked during this discussion that leads into the topic of A.I. rappers. Has the mainstream hip-hop/rap lost its soul? Let us know! (Of course we also get into our usual shenanigans, crazy stories. would you rather questions, etc.!)
In this episode, Wellington and Savon are joined by special guest Jeremy Ruffin, a life coach, sports trainer, motivational speaker and tutor at Ruff Path. The 2021 According 2 Hip-Hop Yearbook is ready to be delivered at your front door!Black & White Version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XZ86CL6Color Version: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XZMF3FHDigital Version: https://tinyurl.com/mrxnzt22Documenting Hip-Hop culture matters. In a world where print media has seemed to have taken a hit, it is still imperative that we document our culture in physical form for historical purposes. The digital world moves so quickly that many pieces of history can be lost in the social media's news cycle or just simply edited over time. According 2 Hip-Hop has worked diligently to resolve this issue and the answer comes in the form of our Hip-Hop Yearbook. Hip-Hop history needs to be documented in real-time to highlight the entirety of Hip-Hop for the whole calendar year. Year by year we will document our history as we develop a library of Hip-Hop History that can always go back to our book collection and check out. With a start of a new decade, 2021 became perfect to start this tremendous journey. The yearbook includes Top 20 Hip-Hop Songs Of The Year, Top 20 Rap Verses Of The Year, Top 20 Hip-Hop Albums Of The Year, and more.Support the show

Eliezer and the Mission to get Isaac a Wife Genesis 24:10-13 NIV Then the servant left, taking with him ten of his master's camels loaded with all kinds of good things from his master. He set out for Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor. (11) He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water.(12) Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. (13) See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. Genesis 24:14-18 NIV May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,' and she says, ‘Drink, and I'll water your camels too'—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”(15) Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham's brother Nahor. (16) The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.(17) The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.”(18) “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. Genesis 24:19-23 NIV After she had given him a drink, she said, “I'll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” (20) So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels. (21) Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful.(22) When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels.(23) Then he asked, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father's house for us to spend the night?” Genesis 24:24-28 NIV She answered him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milkah bore to Nahor.” (25) And she added, “We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night.”(26) Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, (27) saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master's relatives.(28) The young woman ran and told her mother's household about these things. Genesis 24:40-42 NIV “He replied, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked faithfully, will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my father's family. (41) You will be released from my oath if, when you go to my clan, they refuse to give her to you—then you will be released from my oath.'(42) “When I came to the spring today, I said, ‘Lord, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come. Genesis 24:63-67 NIV He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. (64) Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel (65)and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?”“He is my master,” the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.(66) Then the servant told Isaac all he had done. (67) Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death. Luke 19:10 NIV For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” John 3:16 NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
