Chances are, you've heard Sworn Amongst before, after all, the British metal band has been active in some form or another since 2004. Quickly gaining an impressive reputation for their in-your-face, aggressive, groove-laden compositions, and over the years have built an extensive history of international touring and festival appearances to support their numerous releases. Over the years the band have been regular visitors to mainland Europe and have succeeded in turning heads for their sets at the world-renown Download and Bloodstock festivals. The band have also previously toured with numerous acts including playing main support to Canadian speed metal legends Annihilator as well as Gama Bomb, Our Hollow, Our Home, Lotus Eater, Bonded By Blood, Susperia, Breed 77, Man Must Die, Evile, and The Rotted. They've also shared stages with the likes of Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, The Faceless, Anthrax, Sepultura, Chimaira, Skindred, Meshuggah, Bleed From Within, While She Sleeps, Dark Tranquillity, Asking Alexandria, and Sylosis. They have appeared at a variety of prestigious festivals including Download Festival, Bloodstock, Metal Heads Mission, Wurzburg Metal Fest, and Metal Invasion to name but a few. After a brief hiatus starting in 2020, Sworn Amongst returned to form with its strongest line-up to date, releasing the much-anticipated single ‘Restitution'. This release saw the return of founding members Jonny Harper and Liam Liddell, who alongside guitarist Ashley Currie and bassist Kieran Agnew. have succeeded in returning the band to its rightful place as a force to be reckoned with in terms of the band's earth-shattering metalcore anthems, and their fiercely precise, electrifying live shows. On January 22nd, 2024, they released their latest single ‘Tyrant'. A track offered as a tribute to all people affected by modern-day genocide. The track serving as a statement of support and hope for the Ukrainian people and recognising their strength and unity as a nation. Normally when using words like "cringe" and "creepy" with regards to our beloved genre, it's used in a more artistic and horror related manner. Death and Goth Metal aside, a few of the more mainstream Heavy Rock/Metal artists have put pen to paper and come up with some rather cringeworthy lyrics. Call it art from a different era, if you will. Nonetheless, some classic songs (KISS, The Nuge, Winger a.o.) have made us go "Ugh!" and took us down some dark paths that "old time rock n roll" shouldn't take us. It was a pleasure to interview Jude, who is one of the most talented guitarists on this great island of ours. Acid Age play an exciting brand of Thrash/Technical Death Metal which is mixed with Jazz Fusion and a few other styles as well. The trio released a brand new album in 2021 titled "Semper Pessimus", which is a concept album based around Nero, the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Acid Age have a strong back catalog of releases dating back to their first E.P in 2013 and are really looking forward to touring "Semper Pessimus" around Ireland and further afield. Grant (Guitars/Vox) & Tom (Drums) of Psykosis join myself and Joe of Gama Bomb to have a brilliant chat about the thrash metal scene. Since they were formed in 2009, Psykosis have built up an impressive array of supports to M.O.D, DRI, Diamond Head, Sacred Reich, Trivium, Sodom, Onslaught and Nuclear Assault to name a few. Due to their incendiary live shows, which saw them been invited to play Bloodstock twice and Metal Days in Slovenia, Psykosis have built up a large following of fans in the Irish Scene playing venues up and down the country. Despite a few line up changes, Grant and Tom have not let that hinder their progress, judging by "Insanitized" a demo of one of several new killer songs ready to be put out sometime next year. I have decided to spread the word on the Irish Metal Scene by talking to similar bands elsewhere in the world. THE DOOMED & STONED SHOW ~Season 5, Episode 48~ We're smack dab in the middle of Halloween month, so The Doomed & Stoned Show is turning its attention to the reason for the season: horror! This episode takes a look at a relatively unknown disasterpiece: Gore-Met Zombie Chef From Hell (1986), with a colorful cast of characters including Goza, Blozor, Azog, and Lonezor! The plot is convoluted, but here's the gist: sometime in the Middle Ages, the evil Goza betrays the Sacred Order of the Righteous Brotherhood by killing the high priest and is cursed to live out the remainder of his life as a cannibal. Fast-forward to coastal Texas in the mid-'80s and Goza opens up a seafood restaurant with his henchman Blozor to lure hapless victims in to kill and cook. Isn't that nice?
