Social media deletes, throttles and shadow-bans weed related accounts regularly, often without warning and with clear bias against independent creators. When YouTube erased Arend Richard's account "The Gay Stoner" with nearly 200K subscribers, he did get mad, but he also got even by bringing together a group of prominent "weed tubers" to form their own independent platform. Abdullah and Bean talk with Arend about the highs and lows of fighting the system. While exploring the suppression of cannabis education and entertainment as a free speech issue that's all-too-often ignored in the raging debate about cancel culture. Whenever cannabis and capitalism collide, legacy weed farmers find themselves caught in the crossfire—trapped between hyper-capitalized mega-grows with corporate lobbyists and the corrupt government bureaucrats who do their bidding. In a just-published article for Rolling Stone, ace cannabis reporter and longtime friend of the podcast Mary Jane Gibson details how a shady backroom deal pulled the nug out from under California's old-school weed growers. As a result, a confluence of extinction-level-events now threatens to bring down the state's entire legal weed system via an impending market crash. But fret not—the Hempire has only begun to strike back. Mary Jane Gibson joins us for this episode of Moment in Weed, which includes a ceremonial smoke sesh. Shaun Vanderpool, CEO and founder of Il Lupo and Hempire, an avid hunter of emerging technology to commercialize, interviewed by futurist Trond Arne Undheim. In this conversation, they talk about how difficult it is for our educational system to recognize and adapt to individual exceptional abilities. We discuss the massive potential of Hemp, the vast energy potential of a new five phase engine, and briefly cover an emerging opportunity to extract Water directly from air humidity, each technologies Vanderpool has dug up ‘from under a rock’ and not at universities, and is now exploiting. The takeaway is that the future of emerging tech is, for all the hype around it, vastly underrated, given that it can be developed with such vastly improved efficiencies at such rapid pace. On the other hand, perhaps it takes a unique mind to identify and commercialize breakthrough tech. The show is hosted by Podbean and can be found at Futurized.co. Today on Hempire our host is joined by William S. Eidelman, MD. William's medical education began when he was a child. His late great father was a professor of psychiatry at St. Louis University School Of Medicine. He was the only non-Freudian in the department of psychiatry for 25+ years. William learned from his father that through simple caring, they could help others through their pain and illness, sometimes. He showed him his understanding that everyone in medicine has a lot to learn, that no one really knows all the answers. Doctor's do the best they can, which was sometimes successful and often not. So this was his attitude when he started medical school. Once there, it seemed like something was missing from the medical program, but William couldn't say quite what it was at the time. It seemed like they were going in the wrong direction in several basic ways. Now he realizes that there were several topics missing or neglected.
Today on Hempire our host is joined by Dr. Ernie Murakami from Dr. E. Murakami's Centre for Lyme Research, Education & Assistance Society. Dr. Murakami became involved in Lyme Disease while in his practice based in the rural community of Hope, British Columbia. Through his practice, he developed two new methods of tick removal, one which was the Blister Method; the injection of a pre-measured mixture of Xylocaine and Adrenaline directly beneath the jaw of the tick. This method is used today, primarily in Medical offices and by Emergency Physicians. The second method was the Drinking Straw and Single Knot Method, in which the attached tick is placed inside the straw, with the straw held at a 45 degree angle. A suture string is placed under the straw, directly in contact with the mouth of the wood tick. A single knot is applied. Constant alternating releasing pressure is applied upwards away from the skin and the tick releases itself intact, from the host. This technique was accepted by the Compensation Board and the Justice Institute for the training of ambulance and first-aid personnel and is in full use today. These techniques were at the time, being taught by Dr. Murakami to other Physicians at International Conferences. During the times spent at these clinics, he became familiar with the treatment of Lyme, both long term and short term, as well as the split theories surrounding the treatment of Lyme. One fraction believed that only 3 weeks of treatment was adequate at any level, despite the fact that this had been disproven, while the other half believed that long-term treatment was required to eradicate the Cystic form of the disease, based on biological fact. Dr. Murakami became intrigued with the disease as to the epidemiology with his first case of confirmed Lyme Disease in Agassiz, BC at the Federal Penitentiary. This patient showed the typical bulls-eye rash that developed soon after being infected. A second case intrigued him further when another patient from Hope, BC was confirmed to have a typical rash and a positive Eliza serology. Both these patients responded to three weeks of antibiotic treatment.

Today on Hempire our host is joined by Jose Bellen the co-founder of Mission Zero. Jose and his wife Danielle founded Mission Zero to combat the PTSD and veteran suicide epidemic plaguing U.S. veterans. They know from our own experiences that a PTSD diagnosis isn’t a death sentence or the end of the line. But they also know that it changes everything. Danielle and Jose know how it feels to have the horrors of the battlefield follow them home. They understand what it’s like to be endlessly hounded by nightmares, depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and the thought that there might never be an escape. They have witnessed firsthand how the current medical and veterans-support systems often can’t handle the problem, relying on oversimplified approaches, punitive mindsets, and dangerous pharmaceuticals that risk making the situation worse. Jose knows what it’s like for the war within your mind to claim collateral damage: your job, your family, your very existence.
Today on Hempire our host Eileen Karpfinger is joined by 12-year-olds Alexis Bortell. She’s written a book, takes cannabis oil daily and is challenging the U.S. Controlled Substance Act by suing Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Approximately three years ago Alexis had to leave her home in Texas in order to treat her severe form of epilepsy — known as intractable epilepsy — with cannabis. Now she’s suing Sessions so that others like her won’t have to leave home in fear of retribution from the federal government if they, too, use medical marijuana. The suit aims to prove that the Controlled Substances Act, the statute governing federal drug policy, is unconstitutional as it relates to marijuana, according to Alexis’ attorney, Michael S. Hiller. Joining in on the suit with Alexis are plaintiffs Marvin Washington, a former NFL lineman; Jose Belen, an Army veteran; and Jagger Cotte, a 6-year-old Georgia boy with Leigh syndrome, all of whom use medicinal cannabis. The Cannabis Cultural Association is also named as a plaintiff, according to court documents.

Today on Hempire our host Eilieen Karpfinger is joined by who's son Kabel overcame his disease useing CBD's. When he was just 10 months old, Kalel Santiago was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer. known as neuroblastoma, and spent more than two years undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. When he was 3, Kalel was pronounced cancer-free, however, the joy of winning the painful battle against the deadly disease was short-lived. He was diagnosed with severe, non-verbal autism. The Santiagos were aware of the negative perceptions around the use of cannabis oil; yet they took a tiny sample bottle of Hemp Health to administer to Kalel. After they sprayed Hemp Health right into his mouth, twice daily (as directed on the label) only for two consecutive days, they were stunned to “hear” the result: Kalel spoke his first words.
