Survivor 50 B&B Ep 12 Recap w/ Lauren O’Connell With a new Survivor season upon us, it's time for Mike Bloom and Liana Boraas to re-open the RHAP B&B! On the B&B, Mike and Liana are inspired by the lighter side of Survivor, featuring a series of segments and games based on what's happening on Survivor that week. This week, with Liana away, Mike is joined by Survivor: Edge of Extinction contestant Lauren O’Connell for Episode 12! Survivor 50's B&B is back as Mike Bloom welcomes special guest Lauren O'Connell to break down episode 12, “Inconceivable.” Mike and Lauren dig into a double-elimination hour packed with huge exits, strategic pivots, and a ton of fandom-favorite commentary as Survivor 50 races to the finale. Mike and Lauren start by unpacking the massive double-boot episode, where two all-time stars, Rick Devens and Cirie Fields, see their torches snuffed in emotional and memorable fashion. Lauren reflects on the episode's “human” edit, where the show spotlights fan favorites with heartfelt confessionals, vulnerability, and “victory laps” that honor their legacies. The duo also debates who really controlled the Ozzy vote, what made the edit of this final five so strange, and why Tiff's immunity run stands out as a big storyline. The conversation touches on how Survivor's editing shapes our perceptions, why some players are under-edited, and the challenges of balancing personality with strategy. Mike and Lauren explore Rick Devens' jury threat status, how Cirie's social game drew everyone to her, and the unpredictable jury reads that could decide the $2 million winner. Plus, Lauren shares stories from her own Survivor run, gives her thoughts on fire-making, and tries her hand at a new B&B finale game, “What's in a Name?” – Emotional exits for Rick Devens and Cirie Fields shape the endgame – Lauren and Mike debate ownership of the pivotal Ozzy blindside – Tiff's immunity challenge performance highlights an unpredictable under-edited final five – The role of editing in how fans (and the jury) see threats like Rizo and Aubry – Reflections on live reunions, fire-making twists, and Survivor's “celebrational” edit for season 50 As Survivor 50 heads into its three-hour finale, Mike and Lauren ask: Is there a clear favorite, or will an underdog break through at Final Tribal Council? Will Aubry, Jonathan, Rizo, or Tiff “reverse the curse” and claim the title? Don't miss this deep-dive into Survivor 50's latest power shifts and tune in for next week's epic finale coverage on B&B! 0:00 Welcome and Survivor 50 Episode Recap 1:39 Lauren O’Connell Joins, First Impressions 3:15 Emotional Goodbyes: Cirie and Rick Devens 5:11 Analyzing Final Five and Survivor Edits 7:47 Rick Devens: Jury Threat Discussion 10:11 Aubry's Endgame Read and Rizo's Perception 13:48 Tribute to Survivor OGs and Airtime 16:44 Jonathan's Growth and Ozzy Vote Breakdown 20:45 Aubry's Strategic Narrative Highlighted 29:03 Immunity Challenge: Tiff's Clutch Win 34:27 Idol Count Compared to Old Survivor 39:00 Rick Devens' Exit and Jury Sentiment 66:58 Live Finale Returns, Final Predictions This week's charity shoutout is Buying Time, which is dedicated to funding game changing oncological research throughout the world as the leading doctors close in on a cure, as well as fund assistance for cancer patients who have demonstrated financial distress as a part of their treatment. Too often, the criminal legal system fails people who experience harm or violence. At the same time, it also often fails the communities that harmed people are members of.  In many cases, survivors and the accused belong to the same community. Restorative justice centers the specific needs of people who have experienced harm or violence with an eye towards healing both the harmed individuals along with the community that was impacted by the harm or violence. Compared to punitive criminal legal system policies, restorative justice approaches better address the root causes of threats to public safety by remedying harm and repairing relationships at the individual and community levels. In this episode of Justice Above All, guests discuss the diverse practices connected with restorative justice as well as the positive outcomes that are associated with it.  Guests will also discuss how we can incorporate such approaches to build greater safety in our communities. For more information on this episode, please visit: tminstituteldf.org/justice-above-all. This episode was produced by Lauren O'Neil. Narrators Lauren O'Leary and Barry McStay deliver a chilling performance. O'Leary seamlessly delivers Irish and American accents. McStay voices Baby, the orchid, by adopting a callous, judgmental voice as he describes the thoughts and actions of the humans around him, speaking primarily in an Irish accent. An immersive, spooky overlap of voices near the end cleverly captures Baby's slow exertion of influence upon another human. This episode of Justice Above All examines how the Supreme Court interpreted the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause in Brown v. Board of Education (1954), and how today's legal arguments decontextualize the Amendment's historical context in which it was ratified—during Reconstruction, to secure full citizenship and legal equality for formerly enslaved Black people.  Today, multiple Supreme Court decisions reflect an inaccurate and ahistorical reading of the Reconstruction Amendments—the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth—which were enacted to dismantle the legacy of slavery and secure full citizenship and equal protection under the law for all people of African descent.Today's host is Karla McKanders, Director of the Thurgood Marshall Institute. Algorithms and predictive technologies are being used to an increasing extent in housing (i.e., tenant screening, lending, appraisals, housing advertising). While algorithms have the potential to increase equity by removing human bias from decision-making, there is very little transparency and oversight over these tools and there is a real threat that these technologies are in fact replicating and amplifying existing bias and discrimination. In this episode of Justice Above All, Thurgood Marshall Institute researchers speak with three experts on the risks and promise of algorithms in the housing sector. For more information on this episode, please visit: tminstituteldf.org/justice-above-all.This episode was produced by Lauren O'Neil. I could hardly believe that this was Lauren's first zoom interview since the movie! I absolutely loved speaking to her about her role in this romcom/horror and I will positively give this movie 5 stars.I love the fact that she went into full detail about her death scene in the grape crusher. She describes it all from beginning to end and I now have a lot more respect for her because her death was one of the best moments in the film. Even though she is the very first kill, her scream will resonate throughout the horror community, and I firmly believe that she should star in other horror films. She is not short on talent, and she will deliver any role that you put her in, and I do hope that she gets an audition for another horror movie soon.

Who else feels like the life you live in your twenties has thousands of eyeballs on it? Like for better or for worse, in social media + IRL, there are people watching every move you make? Sometimes even offering up their opinions -- often without being asked. Social media, the grapevine, + just the peanut gallery of your own life – they all can make surviving your twenties HARD. And it can cloud your vision when it comes to where you find your worth. If anyone gets this, it's Lauren O'Connell. Her friends call her Lolly, which is what you'll know her as from now on because by the end of our conversation, she'll feel like your new best friend. Lolly FULLY felt the friction that comes from surviving her twenties + finding her worth through her experience of playing on Season 38 of CBS' hit reality TV show, Survivor. Immediately (like, days) after her college graduation + at the end of her collegiate athletic career, she was stranded on an island with complete strangers to compete in a game that would change her life forever. In this episode, you'll hear...  A reminder that we can't mess up God's plan for our life + that He is THE only place that our worth comes from. How to navigate the comparison game when it comes to life's big milestones. How God can use your gifts to write a powerful story, even when you feel like you're messing it all up. Body image issues + the effects social media can have on them.  What Lolly WON after losing the million dollars + being voted off the Survivor Island on day 37 of her season.
