LITTLE FISH, the fourth feature film from director Chad Hartigan, is a romance set in a near-future Seattle teetering on the brink of calamity. The film imagines a world where a pandemic has broken out, that strikes with no rhyme or reason, and causes its victims to lose their memories. This is the world that newlyweds Emma and Jude find themselves in, not long after meeting and falling in love. When Jude contracts the disease, the young couple will do anything to hold onto the memory of their love. Starring Olivia Cooke (Sound of Metal, Thoroughbreds) as Emma, Jack O’Connell (’71, Starred Up) as Jude, Soko and Raul Castillo, LITTLE FISH, opens in the midst of a global epidemic: Neuroinflammatory Affliction, a severe and rapid Alzheimer’s-like condition in which people’s memories disappear. Couple Jude Williams and Emma Ryerson are grappling with the realities of NIA, interspersed with glimpses from the past as the two meet and their relationship blooms. But as NIA’s grip on society tightens, blurring the lines between the past and the present, it becomes more and more difficult to know what’s true and what’s false. Director Chad Hartigan (Morris From America, This is Martin Bonner) joins us for a conversation on the making of his subversively sly sci-fi / love story and how the on-screen artistry of the two lead actors helped shape this prescient tale of love in an age of isolation and mistrust. Erik Childress is joined again by Steve Prokopy for a rundown of new movie reviews. Sam Neill tries to protect his flock from the government in Rams. The duo are forced to remember the Sundance movie with writer/director Viggo Mortensen having to deal with his bigoted father in Falling. Two films wonder if we are all living inside a simulation (Bliss & A Glitch In The Matrix.) While a new short film provides an epilogue to an acclaimed documentary (Apollo 11: Quarantine), another places Olivia Cooke and Jack O’Connell to try to remember they love each other during a different kind of global pandemic (Little Fish). Finally, John David Washington and Zendaya talk out their relationship while waiting for the movie reviews to drop in Malcolm & Marie. 1:56 - Rams 8:42 – Falling 19:15 – Apollo 11: Quarantine 26:47 – Bliss 41:17 – A Glitch In the Matrix 55:34 – Little Fish 1:07:23 – Malcolm & Marie 1:28:32 - Outro

Wendy Director Benh Zeitlin Talks Adapting The Peter Pan Mythos & MoreFollowing his Oscar nominated debut, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Benh Zeitlin has spent the last 8 years crafting a very original adaptation of the Peter Pan story we all know and love. He stopped by the podcast to talk about working with young, non-professional actors, building his Neverland in the real world as opposed to a set, why they shifted the story's focus from Peter Pan to Wendy and so much more. Also in this week's show, the guys finally get to discuss the reveal of Robert Pattinson's Batsuit. We touch on where we think the tone of Matt Reeves' new Batman is headed, and the rad idea that his suit's Bat symbol could be made from the proverbial gun that killed his parents. Unfortunately, both Kevin and Sean lost the friendly Oscars wager, granting Jake the power to force them to watch any movie he desired. So this week, they return with painful stories of sitting through the infamous Human Centipede III: Final Sequence. Don't worry, we don't get nearly as graphic as the film, and you can laugh along with Jake throughout. The major release hitting theaters this weekend is The Call of the Wild starring Harrison Ford. Jake and Kevin were both able to see the film, and interview Indiana Jones himself. Be sure to stick around for Jake's amazing story about asking him a "fan question" from one Mark Hamill. It is pure gold. And finally, it wouldn't be an episode of ReelBlend without an awesome BlendGame. We were challenged to chose our favorite movie taglines of all time, and many of you lovely folks played along online using #TaglineBlend. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is a 2018 adventure-comedy film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam and Tony Grisoni, loosely based on the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. Gilliam unsuccessfully attempted to make the film many times over the span of 29 years, which made it an infamous example of development hell. Gilliam started working on the film in 1989, but was unable to secure funding until 1998 when it entered full pre-production with a budget of $32.1 million without American financing, with Jean Rochefort as Quixote, Johnny Depp as Toby Grisoni, a 21st-century marketing executive thrown back through time, and Vanessa Paradis as the female lead. Shooting began in 2000 in Navarre, but a significant number of difficulties such as sets and equipment destroyed by flooding, the departure of Rochefort due to illness, problems obtaining insurance for the production, and other financial difficulties led to a sudden suspension of the production and its subsequent cancellation. The original production was the subject of the documentary film Lost in La Mancha, which was intended to be a making-of but was released on its own in 2002. Gilliam made repeated attempts to relaunch production between 2003 and 2016, which included Depp, Ewan McGregor and Jack O'Connell as Toby Grisoni and Robert Duvall, Michael Palin, and John Hurt as Quixote. However, all ended up being cancelled for various reasons, such as failing to secure funds, Depp's busy schedule and eventual loss of interest in the project, and Hurt being diagnosed with the cancer that would eventually result in his death. After yet another failed attempt, it was unexpectedly reported in March 2017 that filming had finally started, with Adam Driver, who was confirmed as Grisoni in 2016 and helped secure funding, and Jonathan Pryce as Quixote. On 4 June 2017, Gilliam announced that the shooting of the film was complete, 17 years after it originally started. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote premiered on 19 May 2018, simultaneously acting as the closing film at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and being released in French theaters. Gilliam faced difficulties in the process of releasing the film worldwide, partially due to a lengthy legal dispute with former producer Paulo Branco. Subsequently, the film was only released in a few other countries, including Belgium, Spain and Portugal; it was released in the United States and Canada on April 10, 2019. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/popcorn-junkies/message

De Jodie Foster avec George Clooney, Julia Roberts et Jack O'Connell
‘Money Monster‘ is the movie du jour starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, and directed by Jodie Foster. Clooney stars as “not Jim Kramer” from MSNBC’s ‘Mad Money.’ And Julia Roberts turns in another performance that appears to have been filmed on the rest of the cast’s day off. It’s a movie so riveting that Tom plays Candy Crush and leaves to pee… twice. Hopefully the podcast is more interesting than the movie. In this episode me and my friend Kieran Balloo discuss the Steven Spielberg film 'Empire of the Sun'. Along the way we talk about Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (and the must-have toy of '92- a TalkBoy), JG Ballard's love of vehicles, spam on pizza, American chocolate (spoiler- not as good as British chocolate), we reveal just how little we know about history and we talk about the promising career of Skin's star, Jack O'Connell.
This week Shawn made Craig watch Starred Up, the 2014 prison drama from director David Mackenzie, which proves that before actor Jack O’Connell got Unbroken, he was just plain old broken. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Episode Thirty One – '71 Duncan checks out the DVD release of Yann Demange's intense war thriller '71 (MA15+), starring Jack O'Connell. '71 is an Entertainment One release. Review clips courtesy of Entertainment One.
On this episode we look at two 2001 movies trapped behind enemy lines with BLACK HAWK DOWN vs. the Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Language Film in NO MAN’S LAND. This particular double feature was inspired by a film just now getting released here in the U.S. and starring Jack O’Connell in ’71. And we were privileged to have the director of photography for that film, Tat Radcliffe, join us to talk about this film and the great year he had professionally in 2014.
Unbroken is Angelina Jolie's second film as director. Starring British actor Jack O'Connell it tells the story of US Olympian Louis Zamperini who was captured during WW2 and sent to a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Mark Eccleston reviews. Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers discuss the origins of the band and why they strive to avoid simple classification. Miranda Richardson discusses her role with Anna Chancellor in a new TV version of Mapp and Lucia. At an exhibition of his photographs in London, dance star Mikhail Baryshnikov explains how smuggled European magazines inspired his love of photography when he was growing up in 1960s Russia.
Actor Jack O’Connell talks with Chris about being from the most haunted town in England, what got him into acting and getting the lead role in Unbroken. They also talk about work days versus off days and the podcast experiences some (maybe) supernatural activity
Vi besöker också seminariet Black is the New Black, arrangerat av Svenska filminstitutet.
The actress Sheila Hancock talks to John Wilson about her debut novel, Miss Carter's War, which explores the repercussions of the Second World War on 20th Century Britain. The German artist Gerhard Richter gives a rare interview about his long career. Jenny McCartney reviews the film '71 starring Jack O'Connell, which follows a unit of inexperienced soldiers posted to Belfast during the Troubles. We hear from the Nigerian drummer and songwriter Tony Allen, one of the pioneers of Afrobeat. And as the French author Patrick Mondiano wins the Noble Prize for Literature, Dr Dervila Cooke explains the importance of his work. Presenter: John Wilson Producer: Olivia Skinner.
In this week's Empire Podcast, mind-blowingly masculine Labor Day star Josh Brolin is joined by a similarly manly British counterpart in the form of Jack O'Connell (of Starred Up, This Is England and 300: Rise Of An Empire fame). Elsewhere, the team spoil the concept of spoilers for everyone, and decide which unassuming English actor should get their own Taken action franchise.
With John Wilson. Kylie Minogue has achieved record sales of around 70 million, and received multiple awards including a Grammy.
