There's arguably no superhero in existence that has been reimagined, redefined, or reinterpreted more than Batman. No matter how many times he's been rebooted, audiences are always willing to come back to Gotham City's greatest defender. With so much Bat content out there, there's plenty to dissect, analyze, and of course, rank! This podcast is dedicated to a surgical evaluation of Batman's history, with a focus on ranking several topics in the world of Batman, among other classic Bat themes and characters. Join host Daniel Cohen, Pop Break's former Film Editor and Resident Bat-Maven, as he brings on several guests every month to share his passion for the one and only Dark Knight. From Adam West to Robert Pattinson, no bat stone will be left unturned. Bottom-line: If you're a Batman fan, this is required listening. In what is definitely the biggest story in the world of Batman right now, you know we had to do an episode on the new Amazon series, Batman: Caped Crusader. Daniel is joined once again by Podcasting Director of the Pop Break, Alex Marcus, as the two sing the praises of this phenomenal addition to the Batman canon. SPOILERS ARE ON as the duo discuss all ten episodes. They dive heavily into all the reimagined villains, and both have a hot take on Harvey Dent/Two-Face. No villain stone is left unturned. Clayface. Catwoman. Penguin. Harley Quinn. Firebug? All are discussed. Daniel also criticizes one of the villains used, but then realizes he was talking about the wrong villain! That happened. Not only are the villains discussed, but they praise the use of all the supporting characters, including Barbara Gordon, Renee Montoya, and…Pennyworth? Hear Daniel and Alex argue about the episode where there's a ghost! One is positive. One is negative. You'll have to listen to find out who's on which side! They also discuss favorite scenes, favorite Batman moments, top episodes, and Daniel gets annoyed at a certain cameo tease at the end. Also, months after Daniel's passionate defense and thesis about Harvey Bullock being a complex character with tons of potential in a previous podcast, Alex tries to poke the bear on Bullock's different type of role in this series...Daniel does turn the tables though when a certain Robin is conveniently left out in one particular episode…If you loved this show like most Batman fans did, this is a must listen to episode! Also…we tease a BIG rankings episode for next month!

The Gotham City Police Department, or GCPD for short, has been part of Batman's world since his first appearance, which also happened to be the first appearance of Commissioner James Gordon. And while the members of the GCPD focused on in the comics have shifted over the years, the presence of it has been a constant, although Batman's good standing has been anything but. This week, we're reading three stories that focus on the three most important members of Gotham's police force: Renee Montoya, Harvey Bullock, and Jim Gordon. We also wrestle with the question of how, in 2023, you can read these stories and reckon with the questions of copaganda and police protagonists. But don't worry, there's your usual quotient of funny voices, off color humor, and SHARK WATCH! Half a Life (Gotham Central # 6-10) A Bullet for Bullock (Detective Comics V.1 # 651) Loyalties (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight # 159-161) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Follow the show on Twitter @BatChatComics and support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!: Ms. Marvel made its debut on Disney+ last week, and we are all in on the adventures of Kamala Khan. We dive into the first episode and make some guesses for the upcoming season. The fourth episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi reminded us of another Episode IV, as Obi-Wan leads a mission to rescue Princess Leia from an Imperial base. Guess what? Darth Vader was not pleased. We saw the first trailer for Black Adam coming out in October. Is it too soon to ask for a Dr. Fate movie right now? Cullen has a follow-up to our Substack conversation last week, and Jerry has some Humble Bundles to recommend. We look at 52 #41, where we see Renee Montoya take on the Dragon, Ralph gets behind the wheel, and Starfire and Adam Strange make a crash landing on a green planet. We have our Pick 3 selections, sponsored by our friends at Clint's Comics in Kansas City. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. On this week's episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!: Obi-Wan Kenobi debuted on Disney+ over the holiday weekend with the first two episodes of the six-episode season. These episodes had all of the feels! Familiar faces, familiar characters, even familiar voices. Seriously, if you did not like these episodes, we would kindly suggest you take a one-way Bantha ride through the Jundland Wastes to the Dune Sea. News surfaced this week of the apparent success (so far) of the 3W3M Substack with features Jonathan Hickman, Mike Hiddleston, and Mike del Mundo. Doing well enough that they are bringing in editor Steve Wacker to oversee the line. So we revisit the Substack concept and if this is now showing more viability as an ongoing channel for your entertainment consumption. We look at 52 #39 where we can assure you that despite the claims on the cover, neither the Question nor Renee Montoya appears in this issue. Oh, and now Lex Luthor has powers. We have our Pick 3 selections, sponsored by our friends at Clint's Comics in Kansas City. We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Thanks, Montoya. This week on Gotham City Limits, we cover one of my favorite episodes, P.O.V.! It's the Rashomon episode, it's the one that really gives Renee Montoya the spotlight for the first time, it's the one where Batman sinks a ship by throwing a forklift at it. What's not to love?! How Will Streaming Services Retain Subscribers Gained During COVID-19? Customers are showing an increased lack of loyalty when it comes to streaming, so instead of focusing solely on attracting new customers, many services are pivoting and focusing on keeping the subscribers they have. Production has been shut down across the globe, so there's not a lot of new content to roll out except what was already finished. That means services are either scrambling to secure the rights to already published content or moving release dates forward as Disney+ has done with a filmed version of Broadway smash hit Hamilton (dropping a full 15 months earlier than planned). A July 10 – 12 survey panel of 1,315 Americans on their current streaming and cable subscriptions found that 50% of respondents cite Netflix as their favorite service, with 8% signing up for the first time in the past 90 days. Analysts believe Netflix could report net sub additions of 15 million worldwide. Analysts also believe the likely giant spike in new subscribers increases pressure on Netflix for retention. More consumption of content suggests even greater need to replace content with something new. Questions - Have you started a new streaming service in the last few months? Have you canceled a new streaming service in the last few months? What would get you to leave? If new content stopped being released would you keep your service? Have your views changed in any way regarding streaming services over the past few months? Sony A8H OLED TV Review RTINGS.com The Sony A8H ($2800 65”) is an excellent OLED TV that delivers incredible picture quality for any type of content and is a fairly decent upgrade over its predecessor, the Sony A8G OLED. It produces perfect blacks with its infinite contrast ratio, which is great for those who like to watch in a dark room. It handles reflections exceptionally well, and its decent peak brightness is enough to fight glare in brighter lighting conditions. It has wide viewing angles, so the image remains accurate even if you're sitting off to the side. Its response time is almost instantaneous and it has a low input lag; however, gamers might find the lack of variable refresh rate (VRR) support a bit disappointing. As always, there's a risk of permanent burn-in with OLED panels, although it shouldn't be an issue for most. Its Android TV platform is user-friendly, it runs smoothly, and you should have no problems finding what you need from the immense Google Play Store. THE FLICK: Birds Of Prey Or The Fabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn - The DC Cinematic Universe continues on its upswing with this new film that will hopefully wash the taste of Suicide Squad out of our mouths as this is the second kick at the can for Margot Robbie's version of Harley Quinn, now shedding the shackles of the abusive Jared Leto Joker and looking to be a force for good alongside the rest of the Birds Of Prey. Who are they? Well, we have the supersonic ass-kicker of Black Canary, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Huntress, an assassin played by Ramona Flowers herself Mary Elizabeth Winstead and the iconic Rosie Perez playing Gotham City detective Renee Montoya, a comic favorite. Together they take of Ewan McGregor's villain character who is looking like he's having an insanely good time playing this bad guy. The reviews are good so I am excited. THE BINGE: The Pharmacist (Netflix) - Another documentary series to piss you off and make you paranoid but something that will hopefully educate you, this is a four episode series about a small town pharmacist who decides to conduct his own investigation into the 1999 murder of his son in New Orleans and starts to see connections to his own industry that are quite disturbing. I only meant to watch the first episode just to give myself a feel for the show and found myself pounding back each episode like a good old fashioned Netflix binge. Welcome to Episode 140 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things geek and nerd related, provided our DVR's have space and our Netflix accounts are our own and none others. This week, ALL of the Geeks (Jeff, Jake, Mitch, Nate and Matt Orrin) are joined by Carlos Madrid and are back in the space formerly inhabited by Sexpot Comedy, right above Mutiny Information Cafe, for another packed episode of geeky goodness. We talked more Titans, because it SO GOOD!! Seriously, this show has been delivering each week and it's gonne suck when the season is done. Will Dick become Nightwing this season? Who is the big bad? Did Starfire just kill Raven? We assume the answer to that one is no, but the show made it seem like its a possibility. This last episode introduced Wonder Girl, Donna Troy, and mentioned both Wonder Woman and the Justice League. We're also excited for the upcoming CW crossover event, Elseworlds, which will introduce some new characters such as Batwoman and Lois Lane. We know a little about the crossover, and talk as in depth as possible. We also got news that they casted the role of Renee Montoya (aka the Question) in the new Birds of Prey movie filming next year. Hopefully, DC can start making movies as good as their TV. Marvel, on the other hand, has no problem with their movies. The new Captain Marvel trailer just dropped and we paused recording to watch it. We've all seen it multiple times since because it looks real good. We talk more about the character that Jude Law is playing, which is not the possibly hinted at Mar-vell. Unfortunately, they wont be including any of the Netflix characters especially since Daredevil was just cancelled. That leaves Punisher and Jessica Jones, both of which will probably be cancelled after their next seasons. If they ever did use those characters, would they recast them? We hope not with some, especially Punisher. It almost Christmas time, and Duck Tales (Woo Ooo) just had a great Christmas episode. Turns it that Scrooge doesn't hate Christmas, its just his only day off each year and he wants to unwind with his buds, which happen to be the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. This brought up everyones favorite version of the Christmas Carol. Some say Scrooged, others say the Mickey Mouse version. What is your definitive version? We ended with discussion on the Caped Crusader, and his fighting prowess. We wondered if Dick has ever fought Batman for any reason and, if so, could he beat Batman? Could Batman beat Daredevil, or even Iron Fist, in a fight? Listen and find out our thoughts! You can send your feedback and show topic ideas to broadcastgeeks@gmail.com.
