At the top of this week's Rouge White & Blue CFL Podcast, the discussion naturally begins with a wrap of week 7 games – while meandering through some grousing about what was seemingly a poor fantasy week for everyone. (Jake Maier the top QB? A touchdown from rookie FB Clint Ratkovich? Dude.) Light on fantasy football points the slate of games may have been, but some fascinating points of discussion emerged for co-hosts Joe Pritchard and Os Davis to kick around. Questions like: Are the Calgary Stampeders (and Maier) this good? Are the Saskatchewan Roughriders this bad? Why are the Edmonton Elks like this? (Joe swears it's not McLeod Bethel-Thompson…) The RWB goes on to offer CFL Pick ‘Em picks and predictions on another interesting quartet of games next week: Saskatchewan at the likely Cody Fajardo-less Montreal Alouettes; the underdog (?) Stamps at the Ottawa RedBlacks; those frustrating Winnipeg Blue Bombers at the Toronto Argonauts; and (hoo boy) the one-win Hamilton Tiger-Cats coming to Edmonton. Bubba O'Neil is joined by Argos Sportsnet reporter David Morassutti, Mark Stephen - Voice of the Stampeders, and Blue Bombers reporter Christain Aumell of CJOB to chat the top stories across the league. The panel discusses the firing of Chris Jones as the general manager and head coach of the Edmonton Elks. They analyze the reasons behind his decline in performance and his inability to evaluate talent effectively. The panel also discusses the expectations for the Elks moving forward and the impact of the ownership issue on the team. They then shift their focus to the upcoming game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts, highlighting the importance of the rivalry and the need for the Tiger-Cats to be competitive. The panel also discusses standout performances from players such as Lucky Whitehead, as well as the impressive play of Dru Brown and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The hosts and guests discuss various topics related to the CFL, including the performance of the Blue Bombers, the potential of the Calgary Stampeders, the upcoming games of the week, and the legacy of Wally Buono and the challenges of player safety and scheduling in the CFL.TakeawaysChris Jones' decline in performance as the general manager and head coach of the Edmonton Elks can be attributed to a lack of stability at the quarterback position and constant roster turnover. The Elks need to show improvement and competitiveness to regain the trust and support of their fan base. The upcoming game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts is crucial for both teams, and the Tiger-Cats need to capitalize on the rivalry to bring out their best performance. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are showing signs of their dominant form, with Zach Collaros leading the offense and the defense creating turnovers. The Blue Bombers are a strong team, but injuries have affected their performance. They still have the potential to be dangerous in the playoffs. The Calgary Stampeders have been surprising with their performance, and quarterback Jake Maier has shown more confidence. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have a history of slow starts but often end up in the playoffs. The Edmonton-Ottawa game is anticipated due to the drama surrounding the coaching change in Edmonton. The Toronto-Hamilton game is also of interest, as both teams have struggled this season.Chapters00:00 - Chris Jones' Firing12:58 - Hamilton-Toronto Rivalry19:19 - Standout Performances in the CFL25:12 - Blue Bombers' Dominance30:29 - Injury Concerns35:05 - Surprising Performances37:16 - Scheduling Games48:22 - Game of the WeekThe Ticats Audio Network provides Hamilton Tiger-Cats fans with the most comprehensive, entertaining and informative news and information about their favourite football team. The XFL is looking for money, but who should they get to invest? What's next for the latest cuts from the NFL and which league between the XFL or the USFL should those players be targeting for their next stop? What's next for the CFL after this crazy week with Gary Stern's departure from the Montreal Alouettes and the trade of Vernon Adams Jr. to the BC Lions? We tackle all of those questions and more with our slate of guests which includes Brendan Coffey from Sportico, Ric Serritella from NFL Draft Bible, TSN's Matthew Scianitti, and Cody Grace from the Calgary Stampeders.Brendan Coffey of Sportico stops by the program to chat through his latest article coming out regarding the XFL looking for investors ahead of its 2023 launch. Brendan fills us in on why the XFL might be seeking money from outside investors, what types of partnerships they might be looking to form with these new investors and why the XFL needs to give up such a high stake (potentially) of the league to entice new investors.Ric Serritella from NFL Draft Bible makes a long overdue appearance on the show to recap some of the latest USFL cuts and signings as NFL teams completed their 53-man rosters this week. We talk about the success of the USFL season 1 by having at least one of its players on an active NFL roster, talk about what's next for players cut by the NFL potentially heading to an XFL or USFL roster and the differences Ric sees in the scouting and talent potential for both XFL and USFL.TSN's Matthew Scianitti sits down from his hotel room getting ready to cover the REDBLACKS at Montreal Alouettes game this week to run down all the craziness that was CFL Week 13 thus far. We discuss Gary Stern's abrupt departure from the Alouettes' day-to-day operations, discuss the big BC Lions acquisition of Vernon Adams Jr., commiserate Randy Ambrosie's unenviable task of seeking out a new potential owner for the Alouettes, and pontificate over what's next for Trevor Harris as the (potentially hesitant) face of the Montreal's CFL franchise. Finally, Cody Grace courtesy of the Calgary Stampeders makes an appearance to preview the big Stampeders and Elks home and home games coming up. We cover his CFL season thus far, goals for the squad the rest of the year, and if the team can make a deep playoff run under the new (and permanent?) on-field leadership of Jake Maier.0:00 The Markcast Episode Promo2:20 Show Intro7:34 Sportico's Brendan Coffey, XFL Investor Interview24:59 NFL Draft Bible's Ric Serritella, NFL Cuts to USFL/XFL Interview54:12 TSN's Matthew Scianitti, CFL Week 13 Interview1:15:21 Calgary Stampeders' Cody Grace Interview1:25:29 Show Outro, Giveaway Photos
