The Tip Sheet continues to explore a critical juncture for the Parramatta Eels in the week they sacked head coach Brad Arthur. Forty20 and Clint examine the latest developments on that front and beyond in another busy episode. Wayne Bennett has rejeceted the Eels, choosing to stick with South Sydney...so where does that leave our club? Who sticks out as the prime candidates to helm Parramatta and which ones fit the criteria laid out in the club's press conference on Tuesday? For his part, Brad Arthur continues to be nothing but class after speaking to a host of media outlets on his 50th birthday. Team List Tuesday yielded almost nothing new for fans in a surprising twist. Trent Barrett hasn't rocked the boat in his first week in charge and the boys try to puzzle out the why of it all. The Magic Round debrief covers a hugely successful weekend for the NRL as the boys look at a spread of closely fought games and terrific attendence. The pre-Origin carnage continues with Cameron Munsters and Kotoni Staggs now joining a galaxy of other stars on the sidelines. Another negative news story is circling involving Taylan May and the show addresses the alleged situation before closing out on a positive note with a celebration of the upcoming Indigenous Round.

NSW Advisor Greg Alexander believes the Blues are coming up against the strongest Queensland side in years, ahead of Wednesday's State of Origin series opener. After the Blues won last year's series without any games in NSW, Brandy admits it'll be a difficult task this year against the Maroons, who've named four debutants in Billy Slater's first series as head coach. Alexander says he's looking forward to watching Blues debutant Kotoni Staggs take on the Maroons. “Seeing him up close, he is very powerful and has fitted in well and looks good down that right edge, so I'm excited about Kotoni,” he said. Sydney's Covid real estate spending frenzy has seen two suburbs mark more than a billion dollars in sales last year with a slew of city areas not far behind. Just how many great white sharks will satisfy State government conservation plans is apparently a figure politicians do not want revealed. Up to 3700 jobs will be created in the renewable energy and future industries sector as part of the NSW government's response to the proposed closure of the Eraring power station. Controversial Broncos star Kotoni Staggs has laid bare his tumultuous childhood - which included coping with the repeated jailing of his mum - and revealed how a showdown with the boss of the NRL was the moment that saved his career. Three government officials from Australia defied the country's diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics and attended the Winter Games. A Brisbane businessman who was charged with allegedly plotting to smuggle military equipment into China has faced court. 1:00 - Harold Matthews, Jersey Flegg & NSW Cup Reviews 16:00 - News 28:50 - Joey Grima 1:11:00 - Previews The Parramatta Eels take on the Sydney Roosters this week in a match that has plenty of implications for the early season shakeout of the Top 4. Forty20 and Sixties discuss whether the Eels will be hosting cooked Chooks at Bankwest this week or if the ongoing injury crisis has turned the tri-colours into battle-hardened bantams. Before that though there is full breakdown of Round 8 action below the NRL. The Eels fell short in the Harold Matthews grand final to the Manly Sea Eagles. The boys credit an outstanding opponent on the day and also pay homage to an excellent campaign from the young Eels. It was a mixed bag between the Flegg and NSW Cup with the Under 21s pinching a cheeky win while the reserve grade fell to Mounties and both games go under the looking glass. The club dropped a significant announcement this week as they and Michael Jennings mutually agreed to part ways. The fellas chat about the impact the Jennings had on the club and what the roster spot and cap space mean moving forwards. The Eels are still busy in the player market and updates to the situations around Mitchell Moses, Kotoni Staggs and Dane Gagai get spoken about before the lads touch on news about a potential NRLW expansion. Joey Grima's mail bag this week is another cracker as the walking, talking encyclopaedia of footy guides the hosts and listeners through centre/wing defensive structures and ball-handling mechanics among a host of other topics. A trio of previews closes out the podcast as the Eels take on the Roosters across all three senior grades (albeit via the North Sydney Bears in NSW Cup). Parramatta have the luxury of naming relatively unchanged teams across Flegg, Cup and NRL and the juxtaposition of that situation as opposed to the Roosters in first-grade leads an interesting preview.
