Paging The Crime Doctor Dr Matthew Thorne, a formerly respectable surgeon who lost his license after sheltering his brother Rupert Thorne from the police and once a friend of Dr Thomas Wayne and Leslie Thompkins, is reduced to acting as a mob doctor. When Rupert is critically injured, his brother coerces Leslie to assist with the surgery. But the recovering mob boss wants no witnesses, and Mathew is forced to decide where his real loyalties lie. Zatanna Zatanna was the daughter of Zatara, an excellent magician who taught Bruce Wayne, under the name of “John Smith”, everything he knows about escape artistry and “magic”. Zatara was a world renowned magician and was considered quite possibly the best in his field. He also passed on his teachings to his only child, a daughter named Zatanna. Zatanna gained her talent from her father and became an excellent magician herself. She also had a romantic relationship with Bruce, despite never knowing his real name. Zatanna always had close ties with Bruce Wayne, although Bruce was cautious of this relationship by never giving her his real name. Years later in a show in Gotham City, she made the contents of the Gotham Mint disappear to show up magic debunker Montaque Kane. Unfortunately for her, Kane had not only seen through her trick, but was a thief, and stole the money while framing her for the crime. She was freed from custody and assisted Batman in bringing Kane to justice. After their collaboration with Batman, she eventually recognised him as her old friend from long ago. she then told Batman that Zatara, who had passed away by this stage would have been proud of him, putting his arts to use in fighting crime. The Mechanic Thanks to a freak accident during a high-speed chase, the Batmobile is virtually demolished. After Batman takes the car to his personal mechanic, Earl Cooper, the Penguin makes his move and tampers with the Batmobile, putting it under his control. Harley and Ivy After a failed heist, a frustrated Joker boots Harley Quinn from his gang and to prove her worth to the Clown Prince of Crime, Harley goes solo on her own crimes. This path eventually leads her to form a partnership with fellow criminal Poison Ivy. The success of Harley and Ivy as the new “Queens of Crime” doesn't go unnoticed by The Joker, or Batman, both of whom set out to stop the amazing duo for their own personal reasons, Little do they know, no man can stop Harley and Ivy. Batman's allies are known for many things. Their brains. Their fighting skills. Their dedication. And while Dr. Leslie Thompkins, the woman who comforted Bruce Wayne the night his parents were killed is lacking in the second of those three attributes, she more than makes up for it in the first and third. Leslie is a strict pacifist in a world that runs on tights and fights, and so provides a point of view that we rarely see. This episode we talk about Leslie's first appearance, a story that might fill the timeline between Year One and Dark Knight and why calling out your usage of racist stereotypes doesn't make using them any better. There Is No Hope in Crime Alley (Detective Comics V.1 # 457) Faith (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight # 21-23) The Surrogate (Detective Comics V.1 # 791-793) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Follow the show on Twitter @BatChatComics and support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill
During this BTAS rewatch, we are treated to another episode not including one of Batman's rogues but more into the real life problems of corporate greed at the expense of the citizens of Gotham City. Written by famous comic book writer, Gerry Conway, who also expanded the Bat World with the creation of Jason Todd and Killer Croc. Bruce Wayne's character development is further explored with the death of his parents and how Leslie Thompkins helped him get through that difficult time in his life. There are many great supporting characters in the Batman mythos. Alfred. The myriad Robins and Batgirls. Jim Gordon. Leslie Thompkins. And then, there is Bat-Mite, the 5th Dimensional imp who claims to be Batman's biggest fan. And he is, in the same way that Annie Wilkes is to Paul Sheldon (that's a Misery reference for those who don't know their Stephen King). Dan Grote wanted us to talk about Bat-Mite, so here we go, three very different stories about a magical floating imp in a Batman costume. Legends of the Dark-Mite/Mitefall (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight # 38/Batman: Mitefall) Bat-Mite's New York Adventure (Detective Comics V.1 # 482) Crisis of Infinite Scoobys! Movie Meltdown - Episode 574 This episode our dynamic duo returns to discuss Matt Reeves' The Batman. And while we wait patiently for our red phone to ring, we also bring up… The Eternals, Richard Kind, Year One, The Court of Owls, the lighting, Robert Pattinson, Kurt Cobain, dealing with a horde of evil, DC's showrunner, Frank Miller, The Suicide Squad, Seven, Joe Chill, Planet of the Apes, Jeffrey Wright, Kumail Nanjiani, deluxe theater seats, Blade Runner, there's a reason why their name is on an asylum, Dr. Leslie Thompkins, the Shazam universe, Zoë Kravitz, Injustice, Dex-Starr, Colin Farrell, CG creatures, becoming a symbol, Andrea Sorrentino, Teen Titans, fight coordination, Paul Dano, Chloé Zhao, Chicago, The Long Halloween, Brightburn, Peacemaker, The Raid, Tim Burton, Barry Keoghan, the cipher, Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis, Christopher Nolan, citizens of Gotham, Ego, Michael Giacchino and robots makin' pizzas. Spoiler Alert: Full spoilers for “The Batman”, so see the movie before you listen. “The lighting, the production design - my hats are off to you because… you did it.”
This week, BEFORE we risked life and lung to go see THE BATMAN on the big screen, we decided to read BATMAN IMPOSTER, written by Mattson Tomlin, and illustrated by Andrea Sorrentino. Tomlin happens to also be an (uncredited) screenwriter of the latest film, so it's an... interesting look into what feels like it could be in the same tonal universe but not quite. What feels like a Batman Year 1.5 story has Batman alone and at odds with his city, and the few people remaining in his personal circle. Gone is Alfred , and confronting him is Dr. Leslie Thompkins, the young doctor who cared for him after his parents were murdered. Also, Jim Gordon is swapped out for plucky Asian detective that Bruce has to collaborate with. Set atomic batteries to power, because this is a dark one... Special Guest: Paresh Jha.
In this episode, we discuss Appoint in Crime Alley which is first introduction to Leslie Thompkins in batman The Animated Series.

In this episode, Greg, Leon and Rahul are joined by special guest Marvyn For the fourth installment in our epic discussion and breakdown of BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL (https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Batman:_Knightfall). Bane has been defeated by a new, darker, reckless and more violent Batman and now he rules the night. Jean-Paul Valley for better or worse wears the cowl… What follows is our discussion and the highlights of his career as Batman! It’s all mostly mercs and hitmen from here on out… We cover: -Detective Comics #667-675 -Robin #1-2 -Batman: Shadow Of The Bat #19-20 and #24-28 -Batman #501-508 -Catwoman #6-7 -Showcase ’94 #7 This is the portion of the Knightfall epic known as “KNIGHTQUEST: THE CRUSADE” (https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Batman:_Knightquest) and covers Jean-Paul Valley's tenure as Batman and time in the cowl, in Gotham. It is at this point that there is a fork in the path for the Knightfall saga and as mentioned in previous episodes in this series “KNIGHTQUEST: THE SEARCH” (https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Batman:_Knightquest) is the other part of the story, concerning Bruce Wayne's recovery and globetrotting quest to rescue Dr Kinsolving and Tim Drake's Father. In reading order we have put "The Search" after "The Crusade" although the events are happening simultaneously. We also discuss "The Search" broadly at the beginning of this episode, but we ultimately decided to give more time to "The Crusade" because it is the better written and more interesting side of events. "The Search" covers: -Justice League Task Force #5-6, -Batman: Shadow Of The Bat #21-23, -Batman: Legends Of The Dark Knight #59-61 -Robin #7 Send any questions or feedback to (mailto:acecomicals@gmail.com) acecomicals@gmail.com. The doctor is definitely in this week as Cal and Liam continue reviewing Batman: The Animated Series episodes all month, and this week's episode "Paging The Crime Doctor" is another story-driven episode that doesn't need to focus on the colorful Batman Rogues Gallery to tell a compelling tale. Hear the Good Brothers discuss a plot that centers around a pair of not-so-good brothers and more backstory for some of Batman's closest supporting characters. Cal and Liam speculate on Dr. Leslie Thompkins past involvement with Thomas Wayne, a soundtrack that carries the episode with an amazingly poignant callback to one of the first BTAS episodes! Plus hear a discussion on the nuances of Kevin Conroy's Bruce Wayne voice, some unique #CapeMovement and another scene that made one of the hosts throw his fist in the air in celebration. Sometimes writers don't love what they've written. Sometimes comics get misinterpreted. Sometimes one's feelings on what they wrote change with time. In clips from two of our favourite shows this year, comic creators Dennis O'Neil and Kelsey Wroten candidly reflect on their work. Dennis O'Neil is an iconic writer famous for his work on Batman and Green Arrow/Green Lantern in the 1970s. Hear the full interview with him here. Kelsey Wroten is an editorial cartoonist and writer of the book "Cannonball." Hear the full interview with her here. RFK airs first on CJRU 1280 AM in Toronto. This episode was edited by Mitchell Thompson. The original interviews were produced by Justin Chandler, Jacob Dubé and Mitchell Thompson.
For a milestone episode we got some good ole fashioned Bat-universe scrumptiousness. After Robin: Unmasked (Ep 46) we saw forces trying to stir up some trouble in Gotham and bats can't help but get to the bottom of it. This book has some favorites of ours: Steph Brown, Dr. Leslie Thompkins, and an increasing sense that something big is brewing... Agradecimentos a toda audiência deste podcast. Edição e narração Carlinhos Alves, na busca por desbravar o mundo imaginário, às vezes real e duro e às vezes poético e belo, abraço e até uma próxima vez.

However, Jim quickly deduces that all is not right with Ed as his strange behaviour alerts Jim to the possibility that he was involved. This is confirmed when Dark Nygma tries to kill Jim who manages to escape and entrap The Riddler down in the woods with the help of Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), Harvey Bullock, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and the G.C.P.D. Meanwhile, with Ed Nygma arrested, Jim refuses to return to the G.C.P.D. and restarts his investigation into the Wayne murders. As Jim makes a call to Leslie Thompkins another female acquaintance, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), seemingly cured of her mental illness is released from Arkham Asylum by Professor Hugo Strange (BD Wong) and Ms. Peabody (Tonya Pinkins). Elsewhere in Gotham, Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) is also beginning to learn a new truth about his step-family's role in his father's death. As he awakens from his conditioning in Arkham he truly believes that revenge is best served sold as he serves up a meal that the Van Dahl's will never forget. At Wayne Manor the sound of a computer rebooting offers Bruce the promise of another truth but one that comes with a very personal cost. "Paging the Crime Doctor," perhaps, gives us our best peek into the personality of Rupert Thorne so far. So what does Dr. Letamendi have to say about him? And how does Batman himself stack up to Dr. Letamendi's professional code of ethics? Find out now!

This week on Gotham it was time to be very very afraid as we were introduced to the Crane family in Episode 14 of Gotham The Fearsome Doctor Crane which aired in the UK on Monday 30th March 2015. We also introduce another Doctor from Gotham in the shape of the (former) G.C.P.D. Medical Examiner, as Philip Hernandez who plays Doctor Guerra left a very special message for our listeners. In the message he explains his scenes in the episode and provides some extra little bits that he brought to the character of Doctor Guerra. He also vows to return to exact his revenge on Ed Nygma! You can follow Philip Hernadez on Twitter and check out his website and blog for all those interested in acting and learning the profession. In this episode of Gotham the G.C.P.D. investigate a series of murders that surround an anonymous support group for people with debilitating phobias. The perpetrator seemingly is extracting their adrenal gland for no obvious reason. As Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock investigate these crimes, Jim is released from his involvement in the investigation of Thomas and Martha Wayne's murder by the young Bruce Wayne, seemingly frustrated at the lack of progress in the official case. All the while a romantic air falls over the G.C.P.D as Harvey finds his soft centre for the leader of the support group, Ms. Mullens, and Jim's relationship with Leslie Thompkins evolves through an unexpected dinner date. Meanwhile at the Precinct a professional spat between the Medical Examiner, Dr. Guerra and Ed Nygma leads to the suspension of Ed from the Forensics Unit before he implicates Guerra in the collection of spare body parts from the morgue. Is Guerra Ed Nyma's (aka The Riddler) first victim? As Jim and Harvey narrow down their list of suspects, they race to an abandoned swimming pool where Mullens is in danger as a Doctor Gerald Crane is revealed as the murderer at large. With his actions are driven by a longing to release him and his son, Jonathon Crane from their debilitating F.E.A.R. We discuss all these top five case points surrounding Episode 14 of Gotham. Feedback We discuss all the feedback that has come in from our listeners on everything from Welcome Back Jim Gordon to our thoughts about whether Gotham should have a time jump. Make sure to send your thoughts to feedback@gothamtvpodcast.com We also give a big shout out to Victoria Cartagena (Detective Renee Montoya on Gotham) who celebrated her birthday on the 31st of March. If you haven't had the chance you can hear our interviews with Victoria and of course her partner Detective Crispus Allen (played by Andrew Stewart-Jones) at the links below. We want to wish Victoria a great birthday and another great year on Gotham. Eloisia) from their self-titled album Nouvelle Vague. This song was playing in the background of the restaurant where Jim Gordon met Leslie Thompkins for what she thought was another date but turned out to be some professional consultation. Join us again next week as we discuss Episode 15 of Gotham The Scarecrow. We're excited to see how the beginnings of Jonathon Crane's fear leads to his journey towards becoming the Scarecrow. Welcome back everyone! After 3-months off-air Gotham is back on Channel 5, which means we're back too...and it feels good to be podcasting again about Gotham after so long! This weeks episode of Gotham Rogues Gallery, released as a back-to-back feature episode on Channel 5 with Episode 12 of Gotham ("What the Little Bird told Him"), was written by Sue Chung and directed by Oz Scott. Jim Gordon begins life as a prison guard at Arkham Asylum after his very public demotion by the Mayor, but trouble never seems too far away as bodies with troubling scars either side of their forehead begin to show up within Arkham. Jim calls in his former partner Harvey Bullock to help investigate the murders, which appear to have been experimented on using electro-therapy. A mass breakout from Arkham orchestrated by the culprit, an inmate by the name of Jack Gruber, sees him escape along with his most promising experiment to date. In the meantime, Fish begins to contemplate her most audacious move against the Don Falcone just as questions are raised over the loyalty of her right-hand man - Butch Gilzean. Despite everything going on in the Arkham and Gotham a new romance develops as a spark ignites between the now single Jim Gordon and the Arkham's physician, Doctor Leslie Thompkins. News Thanks to Detectives Fisher and Butcher for sharing a big spoiler about a major character leaving Gotham at the end of Season one. Click the story here if you dare. It's been another year since the death of Bruce's parents and, like every year, Batman visits the site in Crime Alley with his old family friend Dr. Leslie Thompkins. But this year's different. Bruce has fallen into a much deeper depression and believes that Batman hasn't accomplished anything in Gotham City. This mindset gets Jim Gordon in trouble and Bruce has to make some very important decisions. In this episode of The Arkham Sessions, we explore Compassion Fatigue and what it takes to avoid it and combat it, should it fall upon us.
