Leaving a rating, for example, on APPLE PODCASTS, helps new listeners find the show. Finally, if you have made it to this point in the show notes, here is a big THANK YOU from me, to you, for showing some interest in this silly little audio show in which I sit in front of a microphone and talk about comic books. I put a lot of work into these episodes each and every week, and I've spent many sleepless nights, and suffered from more than one attack of overwhelming anxiety, as I continuously worry over the show. Did I choose the right format? Should I have a cohost? Why aren't I producing more episodes this week? Why aren't I podcasting right now instead of typing up all of this? Are my choices in comics driving people away? Is it my voice? My humor? My passion? Do I need a better microphone? Am I wasting my time with all this? Should I start over? Why hasn't anyone downloaded the show today? What am I doing wrong? HAVE I MADE ALL THE WRONG CHOICES!? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW!? These are just some of the questions that often buzz around in my head all day, everyday, and while I can often be quite skilled at ignoring it all, there are the rare moments when it all just shuts me down. Despite all of that, I do rather enjoy podcasting. It can be quite therapeutic in a whole lotta ways. But, to be fair, all of it would more than a little pointless without you: THE LISTENER. Without you, I might as well be standing in the middle of an empty field shouting nonsense to the sky, which, if I'm being completely honest, can actually be quite fun. It's just that, people tend to start looking at you differently when they catch you out there. So yes, while I enjoy podcasting, and for much of it, I podcast for me (because I have to talk about this stuff, I mean I just HAVE to), I do this for you as well. So once more, thank you. You, Dear Listener, are aces in my book.

Under-appreciated. It's a label that applies to many of the creators we have on this show, but never has it applied more than to today's guest: Rick Burchett. A journeyman penciller who's worked at virtually every publisher under the sun (including First, Pacific, Capital, AC and DC and Marvel, natch), Rick often changed his style to fit the content of the comic. Pre-DC, he worked on books like E-Man, American Flagg!, and The Phantom. He pencilled the adventures of most of the Justice League, including Batman, the Flash, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. He may be most recognized for his initial run on Impact Comics' Black Hood title and his long association with the animated Batman books, like the Batman and Robin Adventures. He even played a big role in helping someone named Jim Lee avoid becoming a doctor by breaking into comics instead. So, what we're trying to say is this: Rick is the man!__________________________________If you liked this podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. It's a special CROSSOVER EPISODE this week as we form a superhero podcast team-up with Ashford and Mark of the excellent Birds of Prey podcast, FEATHERS AND FOES! We're discussing the classic BATMAN/HUNTRESS: CRY FOR BLOOD by Greg Rucka and Rick Burchett. Several favorite characters pop up, including Oracle, the original Question, and other members of the Bat Family that may not have earned the title "favorite." In CRY FOR BLOOD, we get to see the rise and fall of the Bertinelli family, Helena's early training, and her first encounter with Batman (MERRY CHRISTMAS!!). We also get to see Helena stand her ground and defend her methodology against basically every dude in Gotham who thinks they know the best way to superhero. Join us as we debate the ethics of murder-by-proxy, breaking and entering (with the best of intentions), and how Nightwing earned the title "Most Lovable Sociopath."

Thanks everyone for downloading the latest episode of JUST ONE OF THE GUYS: A GREEN LANTERN PODCAST, the show determined enough to continue its premise of covering all of the Green Lantern comics from June 1990 until November 2004, even through the very contentious Ben Raab run on the book. In today's episode, Green Lantern #169, Kyle powers up to head into an alternate dimension to rescue former Green Lantern Kilowog from a bunch of Hellish aliens. Meanwhile on Earth, Jenny Lynn Hayden is dealing with Kyle being away by giving out her phone number to some attractive Wall Street douch nozzle in hopes that she might be able to score while Kyle is out saving the universe. Yeah, I might be able to see what people were saying about these books getting under their skin. So, unless you want to get the song about Jenny's phone number stuck in your head for the rest of the day (Thank you, Tommy Tutone), I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Our look at the Green Lantern books in the Benjamin Raab era hits a little bumpy patch with this week's issue, a story entitled "Deicide". While still on the lookout for Amon Sur and the Black Circle, Kyle runs across a planet that was terrorized by supposed rouge Green Lanterns, and he ends up having to attempt to kill the planet's deity in order to appease the populace. Plus we get to see some of the goings on on Earth, with Terry talking to an obvious Larry King analogue and Merayn getting sexually harrassed at a job inteview. Yeah, the cracks are starting to show, but still not nearly as bad as I've been lead to believe. So unless you want to get a squirty ring construct flower to the face, I'd suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Ben Raab continues his run on Green Lantern with issue #167, part two of a story about "The Blind" a cosmic entity that likes to destroy suns, but is vastly different from the Sun Eater, I can certainly say that. Plus Kyle has to take on a female...male...I don't know, the alien's look is somewhat ambiguous version of Boba Fett. At least in that the character is conisdered to be a famous bounty hunter, yet gets taken out pretty handedly. So unless you wnt your leg humped by a giant horny cat alien, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening! Chugging along through the Ben Raab run of Green Lantern on JUST ONE OF THE GUYS, we come to our first multi-part story, a little tale entitled, "The Blind". No, this isn't what happens to you when you stare at the character of Lianna for too long......but a cosmic cloud thingee that just likes to make stars go supernova and blow planets up and stuff. Yeah, not exactly an original idea, but the story of Kyle dealing with it with help from Tibby the Space Turtle and interference from Space FEMA is actually pretty entertaining and makes me wonder what all the fuss about Ben Raab's run on the book is. Short and sweet this time out. So unless you want to get hit on by a horny alien space cat, I'd suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! Everything has changed again...except that it really hasn't...all that much. Yes, I know that is a trite cliché, and I'm sorry I have to use it again, but things keep changing in the Green Lantern books, and so it also must on JUST ONE OF THE GUYS. This time out, in Green Lantern #165, the change is a new creative team in writer Ben Raab and artist Rick Burchett and a new story with Kyle attempting to recruit a new Green Lantern Corps in order to hunt down Amon Sur and the Black Circle. There's an introduction of a character that'll make his way into the current run of Green Lantern seeded in the book...and there's also some truly punny tales in there as well. Is the Ben Raab run going to lead to the downfall of the series like so many have told me? We'll just have to find out together. So unless you want Agraria-7...a farm planet (SIGH!!!)...to be invaded by giant space bugs, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and start to listening.Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! You'll hear about the digital plans for Greg's Oni books, We also hear about Greg's "passion project" American Soldier with artist Rick Burchett, and we look back at Greg's art collaborators on the Queen and Country Comic Series. One word of caution. Being the poltical news junkies Greg and yours truly are , the conversation turned to the coming mid-term elections, not in specifics but the general idea that we live in a highly partisan enviroment. The discussion came up inspired by a listener asking about where gets his news. Still, some listeners just want to hear about comics. For those who would like to pass on the political portion of our discussion, skip from 22:18-30:55
