The grass is not greener in someone else's marriage. It is green where you water it. We have learned that firsthand. There have been seasons where our marriage felt easy, connected, and full and other seasons where things felt off, not because love disappeared, but because we stopped being intentional. Most couples do not have a love problem. They have an attention problem. When something feels dry, it usually just means an area has not been nurtured.Over time, we have realized that strong marriages are built on six kinds of passion. Sexual. Fun. Emotional. Purpose. Growth. Spiritual. When these layers are healthy and working together, a marriage feels hot, joyful, deep, united, growing, and spiritually anchored. When even one is neglected, you can feel the shift.Sexual passion keeps the spark and exclusivity alive. Fun passion keeps you laughing and enjoying each other. Emotional passion creates safety and vulnerability. Purpose passion unites you around shared direction. Growth passion pushes you to become better together. Spiritual passion keeps everything centered and sacred. Each one plays a critical role. Sexual keeps your marriage exclusive. Fun keeps it light. Emotional keeps it secure. Purpose keeps it aligned. Growth keeps it progressing. Spiritual intimacy protects them all.If your marriage feels off, do not panic, evaluate. Ask yourselves which area needs more water right now. Not with criticism, but with curiosity and commitment. Thriving marriages are not built overnight. They are built through small, faithful investments over time. Start watering intentionally this week, and watch what begins to grow.If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. What if the key to transforming your marriage isn't more time, but clearer priorities? In this episode, Nick and Amy are joined by therapist Austin to discuss one foundational truth: your marriage should be your priority. Not work. Not kids. Not phones. The marriage.Austin explains that many couples enter therapy focused on surface problems or looking for a “bad guy.” But when couples strengthen their emotional, physical, and spiritual bond, many issues naturally improve. When the relationship is healthy, everything else such as parenting, careers, stress functions better. It's Not About Time, It's About IntentionPrioritizing your spouse doesn't require hours each day. It's often small, consistent actions:A thoughtful textPlanning intimacy before a busy dayProtecting date nightChoosing your spouse over your phoneThese simple efforts say, You matter to me.When a spouse feels prioritized, connection can rebuild quickly. The Distraction ProblemMost couples live in “urgent but not important” mode — constantly reacting to notifications, emails, and distractions while neglecting what matters most.If your marriage is truly the priority, it should go on the calendar first — not last.A weekly “couples council” can help you stay aligned: express appreciation, review schedules, and intentionally plan time together before filling your week with everything else.A Covenant MindsetMarriage isn't just a commitment — it's a covenant. When you drift, repair isn't about blame. It's about course-correcting and saying, You matter most. I'm all in.A strong, intimate, playful marriage isn't complicated. It's easy to think love in marriage is only shown through romance, gifts, or intimacy. But one of the most powerful ways to show love to your spouse is through healthy boundaries. Boundaries aren't about control, distance, or keeping your spouse out, they're about respect, emotional safety, and creating a marriage where both of you feel valued, understood, and protected. In this week's episode of the Ultimate Intimacy Podcast, we sit down with therapist and expert Austin to talk about boundaries in marriage. Many couples wonder: Is it too late to set boundaries after years of marriage? What happens if we never established them early on? The answer is no, it's never too late. Boundaries can be set at any stage of your marriage, and when implemented with intention, they actually strengthen connection, trust, and intimacy.Boundaries teach your spouse how to love you in the way you need. They show care by clarifying expectations, protecting your emotional space, and fostering mutual respect. Without boundaries, couples can unintentionally hurt each other, feel resentment, or struggle with emotional closeness. Whether you've experienced betrayal, miscommunication, or just want to prevent hurt from ever happening, boundaries are a key tool for maintaining a healthy, loyal, and passionate marriage. In this episode, we talk about:Why boundaries are an essential act of love in marriageHow to set boundaries together as a couple, even if you're years into marriageThe boundaries we personally feel are most important and whyHow boundaries protect your emotional connection and help you prioritize your spouseHow implementing boundaries prevents small conflicts from becoming big issuesWe also discuss real-life examples and practical tips for couples to start setting boundaries today, plus guidance on how to communicate your needs respectfully and effectively. Boundaries aren't about rules or rigidity—they're about creating a safe, loving environment where both spouses can thrive emotionally, mentally, and physically. If you've ever asked yourself, “Is it too late to set boundaries in my marriage?” or “Will my spouse understand what I need?”, this episode is for you. You'll learn how boundaries can actually bring you closer, deepen trust, and enhance intimacy. Austin shares expert insights, and we share personal stories and lessons that make these principles relatable and actionable for every couple. If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. Stepparenting isn't always easy and sometimes admitting that feels like the hardest part.Kate Ferdinand is joined by Nathalie Holmes-Lewis and special guest co host, broadcaster and podcast host Zoe Hardman, for a raw and honest conversation about stepparenting, boundaries, and relationships that don't always come naturally.Zoe shares her own experience of building a bond with her stepdaughter, before the panel tackles two listener dilemmas. In the first, a stepmum is at breaking point as her teenage stepdaughter repeatedly ignores house rules, inviting boys over, swearing and answering back, leaving her torn about whether she can stay in the relationship. In the second, a stepmum admits she dreads spending time with her stepdaughter altogether, and the ladies question whether her struggle is really about the child or unresolved tension with the child's mum that may be affecting the relationship. They also discuss the pressure stepparents feel to get it right, the reality that you don't always like your children or stepchildren and why step relationships can feel especially fragile when they can be lost at any moment.Don't forget to rate and review, also we love hearing from you so follow @blended on Instagram to share your story. We have already talked about what it means to be a good, loving husband, but as we all know, marriage takes two. A healthy, thriving, and passionate marriage requires both spouses intentionally pouring into the relationship. In this episode, we explore what that looks like specifically for wives and how small, intentional choices can make a big impact on connection. Expert Austin Ellis, LMFT, shares practical insights, tools, and strategies couples can use to reconnect and strengthen their marriage. A while back, we shared a video on social media about the importance of making time for intimacy, dating, and connection in marriage. One man responded strongly, explaining that he, and many other husbands, simply did not have the “time” and felt we did not understand the realities of busy life. What followed was a conversation that went back and forth for nearly three hours, centered on his belief that there was truly no time available to connect with his wife. At one point, Amy gently pointed out that while he felt he had no time for his marriage, he had found several hours to engage in the discussion and remain active on social media. The conversation ended shortly after, but the point remained clear. We hear this often. Couples talk about being too busy for date nights, postponing vacations, putting off intimacy, or avoiding deeper emotional connection. Yet we live in a world where convenience surrounds us. Food arrives in minutes, answers are instant, and entertainment is available at the push of a button.Still, many couples feel they do not have time for the most important relationship in their lives, their marriage. The truth is not that time is unavailable, but that it is often unintentionally allocated elsewhere. Screens, distractions, and endless obligations slowly take priority while marriage gets pushed to the margins. When couples begin to look honestly at how time is spent, even small shifts can create space for meaningful connection. Prioritizing marriage is rarely about finding more time, it is about choosing where our time goes.In this episode of the Ultimate Intimacy Podcast, we talk about why “too busy” is the ultimate relationship killer and the simple things you can do to reclaim your time, your connection, and your love, even in the middle of life's chaos. If you've been putting your relationship on the back burner, this episode is your wake-up call.If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. One of the fastest ways intimacy erodes in marriage is through assumption. We assume our spouse knows what we need.We assume they understand how we feel.We assume love means they should just “get it.”But marriage doesn't work on mind-reading as we have talked about before, it works on communication. When we assume things, we stop asking questions. And when we stop asking questions, we stop truly knowing our spouse. Over time, those assumptions turn into unmet expectations, and unmet expectations almost always lead to frustration, resentment, or emotional distance.Dr. John Gottman, one of the leading marriage researchers, talks about “bids for connection” the small moments where one spouse reaches out for attention, affection, or understanding. When those bids are ignored, often because of assumptions, couples slowly drift apart. Assumptions also damage sexual intimacy. When one spouse assumes rejection, disinterest, or “now's not a good time,” desire goes unspoken. Silence replaces vulnerability. And eventually, intimacy feels awkward or distant, not because love is gone, but because communication is.In this episode, Nick and Amy talk about how making assumptions or assuming things in marriage can crate a lot of disconnect and conflict.Healthy marriages don't assume. They ask. They clarify. They check in.They choose conversation over silence.Because love isn't proven by how well you guess, it's proven by how well you listen. If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. In many marriages, the higher-desire spouse ends up being the one who always initiates sex. Over time, that dynamic can leave the lower desire spouse feeling pressured, and the higher-desire spouse feeling unwanted or unseen. But here's the truth: when the lower-desire spouse initiates, it can be incredibly powerful. It communicates love, desire, safety, and “you matter to me” in a way words alone never could. In this episode, Amy and Nick dive into 12 fun, flirty, and confidence-boosting ways the lower-desire spouse can initiate sex with a higher-desire spouse. They also share why sexual intimacy matters so deeply in marriage, and why initiative from the lower-desire spouse can be a total game-changer for connection, trust, and emotional closeness. If you want more passion, more playfulness, and a stronger bond in your marriag, then this episode is for you.
If you've been trying every marriage tip on the internet—communication tricks, intimacy hacks, date-night ideas—yet desire still feels flat and connection still feels off, this episode is for you.So many wives in the empty nest quietly wonder:– Why does desire feel shut down?– Why does intimacy feel disconnected?– Why does communication still feel tense or shallow? Here's the truth:Marriage tips can't fix a heart that's guarded, exhausted, or carrying resentment.Because desire, intimacy, and communication are spiritual and emotional issues long before they're practical ones.In this episode of Miracle Marriage Makeover, I'm sharing the 3 core truths about desire, connection, and communication—why they break down in midlife, why “tips” don't stick, and what actually restores closeness again. You'll learn:– Why desire isn't a switch, but a reflection of safety and emotional connection– Why intimacy begins long before the bedroom in micro-moments of softness– Why communication won't land when your heart is armored– Why spiritual alignment is the starting point for real changeIf your marriage feels functional but not connected… warm but not intimate… or “fine” but missing closeness, this episode will give you the clarity and hope you've been craving. This is where emotional reconnection begins—Not with more strategies, but with a softened, Spirit-led heart.Tune in now for a deeply encouraging, practical, and faith-centered look at rebuilding desire, intimacy, and communication in the empty nest. And if you want community and support on this journey, join my free private Facebook group:Empty Nest Wives – Rebuilding Intimacy & Connection.
In most marriages (whether done intentionally or unintentionally), the lower desire spouse typically has complete control and say so when it comes to sex. They determine "if" a couple is going to have sex, "when" they are going to have sex, and everything related to sex in the relationship. Many husbands have expressed to us that they are the higher desire spouse and are scared to initiate sex with their wife for fear of rejection, having it cause an argument or conflict, and many other reasons. Because of this, and the fact that most women have a responsive desire style, many couples are not connecting sexually in their relationship (and often living in sexless marriages, or close to) because sex in the marriage is typically up to the wife.In this podcast episode Nick and Amy discuss the reasons why this is, and how couples can work together to find a balance in their sexual intimacy and relationship where both spouses needs and desires are being met, and sex is something that both spouses have mutual respect and control over in the relationship. If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. In this episode I sit with Sarah Intelligator — a divorce attorney, long-time yoga teacher, and author of Live, Laugh, Find True Love — to explore her approach to ‘holistic divorce' and how bringing mindfulness, compassion, and practical tools to family law can change how people navigate separation.Sarah explains why caring for the whole person matters in legal work, how divorce impacts children (and adult children), and the red flags and early patterns she sees in relationships that lead to separation. We dig into her ‘six F's' framework; fundamental values, fear, foundation, fairy tale, family, and fixing, and learn how to choose a partner intentionally, avoid settling, and protect your future self.To connect with Sarah: https://livelaughfindtruelove.com♾ In a fast-paced world like the one we live in, time is one of our most important assets. In this episode of The Ultimate Intimacy Podcast, Nick and Amy sit down with Kevin Johnson for an open and relatable conversation about anxiety, a topic that touches nearly everyone in one form or another. Anxiety is a normal function of life, and it shows up differently for each of us. It might surface when we're speaking in front of a crowd, navigating unfamiliar places, facing personal pressures, or simply trying to keep up with life. For some people, it's a manageable background hum; for others, it can feel overwhelming, even paralyzing. Kevin helps break down what anxiety really is, and how anxiety doesn't just impact individuals, it also deeply affects marriages and relationships. When one spouse struggles with anxiety, it can influence communication, intimacy, emotional connection, and even day-to-day decision-making. Left unaddressed, it can create misunderstandings, distance, or tension between spouses.Join us for this very important episode. In life, none of us are perfect, we stumble, fall short, and make mistakes. As Christians (Nick and Amy), we believe in the incredible gift of grace through Jesus Christ, who forgives us despite our flaws. But when it comes to our marriages, are we offering that same grace to our spouse? Or are we holding onto disappointments, expecting perfection, and being too hard on offering grace to not only ourselves, but also the one we love most? In this episode of the Ultimate Intimacy Podcast, we dive into the power of grace in marriage and why it matters, how it strengthens connection, and how forgiveness can transform our relationships. Discover how showing grace to each other creates deeper emotional safety, trust, and unity with your spouse.DISCLAIMER: We recognize that not all of our audience that listen to the podcast are Christian, but this can be so beneficial to your marriage regardless of your beliefs. If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage.
