They are short & easy to digest for the busy, highly sensitive woman. To sign up for the 4 month transformational journey click here: https://www.cristinpowerslifecoach.com/product-page/transform-your-life Today's episode is one of the week's journaling exercises in the 4 month transformational journey.  Your intention: I am the writer of my own story. I am the creator of my present and future.  I've talked about this in a past episode but I feel like now is the perfect time to circle back to the idea and journaling exercise.I want you to connect with the future version of you.. 4 months from now… writing your story from that future perspective… I'm going to give you an example 1st then some writing prompts you can use to help you write if you need them.  Future me: 4 months ago I was feeling like I wasn't in alignment, I felt like I wanted to take some positive steps closer to being and living at my highest potential. My house wasn't as organized and I felt like I wasn't' showing up in all areas of my life as who I was meant to be, healthy, happy, organized, balanced. I decided then to take the next 4 months of my life and focus on my hopes, goals, dreams and desires. When challenges arose I got through them them, sometimes solo and other times with the help and or encouragement from my family and friends.  I followed my heart and fully trusted my intuition. I knew this was the path for me.  I did what I wanted and needed to be done.  I fully stepped into committing myself to the life of my dreams.  I did it for my daughter to be the ultimate role model in her life.  Happy, healthy, balanced and free.  I am here now living the life that I knew I deserved but I wasn't sure how or if I would get here,  all it took was strength, accountability, gratitude and believing in myself. Showing up consistently each day to find and create a healthy balanced life.  Here are some ideas to help you write… 1. I was feeling (negative pain points that we want to change) or should I say that we ARE changing.  2. I took action by… 3. Any challenges and how you got through them 4. Any action steps / or feelings that helped you along the way 5. Enjoying the journey 6. The destination  Meditation: Take a moment to settle in and release any tension in your body.. Your neck, your shoulders, your back and hips, your legs, ankles, arms, wrists, fingers and toes, Unclench your jaw, relax your forehead and take a deep breath in and out You are the writer and author of your story.  You can to dream the dream and plan the plan.  It is up to you and only you, to make your dream life come true.  You are mindful, grateful, loving and loved.  You live each day with intention and gratitude.  You know your dream begins today.  You are amazing, and have done so much. Remember to celebrate all your successes.  Breathe in and out .. by; Cristin Powers, self help & life coach for women. CristinPowersLifeCoach.com CristinPowersLifeCoach@gmail.com

Each day we have a choice. We can choose a path of healthy behaviors or choose dysfunctional ones. How do we learn what's good for us and how do we make healthy choices each day? Understand your physiology: Your "Lizard Brain." Read the "Don't Listen to Your Lizard Brain" article in Psyhcology Today. From the article: The reptilian part of your brain controls "primitive drives related to thirst, hunger, sexuality, and territoriality, as well as habits and procedural memory." Be sure to take care of your body (eat, sleep, drink water, rest). Remember your biology. When afraid or angry, hormones are released into your bloodstream. These hormones can stick around for around 45 minutes if you're angry and that's why it's important to understand your physiology. How to be aware of your anger before it gets out of control: Meditation Take a break Deep breathing Center yourself. You need a touchstone that you can trust to help you decide what is healthy and what isn't. Is this true? Is this healthy for me? Strengthen your "adult" voice: "Parent, Child, Adult" voice. Five Ways to Cultivate Meditation

Thought Architecture

In this podcast, we explore the importance of stillness practice and the benefits of meditation. This is the 4th in the series of the 10 harmonies. Despite knowing the benefits, many people struggle to establish a meditation routine. Let's bridge the gap and discover how to improve our stillness practice.Measurement Metrics:* Reflecting on your meditation routine: Did you meditate daily, every two days, every three days, or once a week?* Measuring quantity: How much time did you spend in meditation?* Assessing quality: Did you experience a deep and meaningful meditation or did it feel like a wasted session because you couldn't get into it?Five Ways to Cultivate Meditation:* Reflection Time: Take a moment to sit down, close your eyes, and reflect on your day. Consider the enjoyable moments, challenges faced, and any special experiences. Reflection allows you to tune in and connect with your thoughts and emotions.* Getting into Your Body: Especially beneficial for those who tend to be lost in their thoughts. Find a comfortable position that stretches your body slightly. Close your eyes, focus on your breathing, and feel the stretch in each body part. This practice helps bring awareness to your physical sensations and promotes relaxation.* Guided Meditations: Search for guided meditations on platforms like YouTube or Insight Timer. Select a guided meditation that resonates with you and simply listen and follow along. Close your eyes, let go, and immerse yourself in the guidance provided. Insight Timer is a recommended app with a variety of guided meditations.* Planning: Close your eyes and visualize your upcoming day or a specific task. Mentally go through the actions you need to take and prepare yourself mentally. Visualizing and planning ahead can reduce stress and provide clarity for your actions.* Replay Moments that Made You Smile: Recall recent moments that brought joy or made you smile. Replay those moments in your mind as if watching a sports instant replay. Practice responding to the world with more laughter and enjoy the automatic de-stressing effect it brings.Challenge: Seven Days of Meditation: Take on the challenge of meditating for seven days, five minutes each day. Choose any of the five practices mentioned or experiment with a combination. Set aside time in the morning, afternoon, or evening, whichever works best for you. Share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the host. Conclusion: Stillness practices, including meditation, offer numerous benefits for our well-being. Breaking free from preconceived notions of meditation allows us to explore various approaches. Embrace stillness in any form that resonates with you and find what works best for your personal journey. Join the challenge, meditate for seven days, and share your insights and feedback with the host. Thanks for reading Neuro Resilience! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

Patty has a great guest joining her today. She's talking with Renata Joy, a wellness coach expert. Her mission is to help women over 50 live healthier lifestyles. She focuses on nutrition, exercise, and skin care to help women feel their best, sexy selves.   Her personal story might feel familiar. As a child, she was surrounded by people who were not well. She grew up worried that she would follow in their footsteps, so she intentionally made different choices.   She was a TV producer working for The View when the 9/11 attacks happened in New York City. She enjoyed her work, but she knew there was meant to do something more. She left her 22-year producer career in 2001 and Pure Joy Wellness was created.   During the pandemic, it became clear to Renata that we needed community. She started a 30-day walking challenge, and it took off! It got women moving and talking and supporting each other.   Renata shares how we can reduce stress (a daily concern) and 5 easy things we can do to help clear our minds and reduce stress.   Breath work  Meditation  Take a walk/go for a run  Journal your thoughts  Get into nature  Renata is an advocate for self-care. In fact, she's adamant that women put their health and wellness first. She also wants women to be proud of their age and experience, along with our wisdom. Good morning, beautiful. Our theme today is yes. “One life. Just one. Why aren't we running like we're on fire towards our wildest dreams?” I saw this quote recently and it reignited the fire within me to live this life as vivaciously as I can. While I don't believe in just one life, I do believe that this particular life we're living deserves as much joy, passion and aliveness as possible. Yet it's so easy for us to submit to a routine life that is just okay, that feels safe, that checks the boxes that have been imposed upon us. But that is not what life is meant to be. It's meant to be wild, passionate, risky and vibrant. So this meditation is an opportunity for you to sit with yourself, so you can bravely identify how you might be able to take more chances, and live a life that is more alive. JOURNAL PROMPTS: What parts of you crave more fulfillment? How can you take more chances? What can you say yes to, even in the midst of fear? What does a life on fire, running towards your wildest dreams look like to you?

Today I decided to do something different. Today is Episode 16 , and I will guide you through this meditation in taking a journey with your little girl. Before you listen to this meditation you can either have calming music in the background or just listen to my voice. I invite you to find a quiet place where you don't have interruptions. I invite you to allow at least 15-20 minutes of you time. Ladies do you have a relationship with your little girl? I didn't for many years. I learned how to have a relationship with the younger version of me. Coming from a background of abuse, I didn't allow my little girl to come out and play with the adult version of me. She never felt safe. With years of therapy, I began to remove the layers of protection that prevented me from having a relationship with my little girl. We all have a little girl inside of us. I think it's important to maintain a connection with her. If there needs to be some healing, heal your little girl. Make her feel safe. Have a relationship with your little girl. She is a part of you. I provide tools for you in this podcast on being more resilient as well as a handout on my website, igotyourbackgirlfriend.com. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/natasha-burke3/support

This week, our theme is New Beginnings. There's a difference between simply taking action and taking intentional action. Taking intentional action means we set ourselves into motion from a place of alignment. Our action is in line with our heart-centered desires, who we are now and our future vision. The action, therefore, becomes easy. Inevitable. And full of delicious momentum. So the intention of this morning's meditation is to become aligned in your intentions and your actions. So you can experience the fullness of your new beginning.

Thing of times you found your center and stillness through courageous action. It can be as simple as responding “Okay” to text when your ego was pushing to write out that multi-paragraph essay. Affirmation and Meditation:Take a big inhale through the nose and affirm to yourself, “I breathe in strength and courage” hold for a count of four and exhale through your mouth with a loud sigh while affirming to yourself “I breathe out fear.”Do this at least 7 times, but let your intuition guide you. When we meditate, we are in essence harnessing the light of awareness and shining it inside. This light allows us to look deeper inside, to see more, to clear out the cobwebs. Turning on the lights is brave. It is powerful. It is enlivening.  And yet, if we haven't done the work to shore up the foundation, to clear the path leading deeper in, turning on the light can serve as a shock.  If you've been the dark a long time and you step out into the brightness of daylight, it can be blinding, can't it? We shield our eyes; perhaps we run back inside for sunglasses, something to protect ourselves from the glare….  If we haven't done the work to be with little discomforts, how might it feel to face bigger discomforts? It can send us running for the hills, abandoning our meditation practice with the seemingly innocent excuse of “I just don't feel like it” right now.  Today's mini meditation practice allows us to gain steady traction, firming footing, and gather courage to bring what is needed from the darkness into the light. It allows us to take off the sunglasses. We start to trust the images, the thoughts, the threads of connection that are revealed to us.  We start to be more curious about the responses we have to the daily moments in our lives.  We start to explore the freedom of choice.  Today's meditation is a practice of shining the light. Let's get to it. These mini meditations are meant to support a daily home practice. Tune in every Monday to find your practice for the week! Join us in The Prosperity Practice Group to particpate in the 21 Day Happiness Challenge: This is based off of the Shawn Achor TED Talk: The Happy Secret to Better Work Essentially you will pick one habit to create and practice it for 21 days which will essentially lead you to a life you desire... a happier, more joyful, more fulfilled YOU! Here are the five habits to choose from: Three Gratitudes: Pause to take note of three new things each day that you are grateful for. Doing so will help your brain start to retrain its pattern of scanning the world, looking not just for the negative inputs but for the positive ones. Journaling: Similar to the gratitude practice, but in this case, detail — in writing — one positive experience each day. This will help you find meaning in the activities of the day, rather than just noticing the task itself. Exercise: Exercising for 10 minutes a day not only brings physical benefits, but it also teaches your brain to believe your behavior matters, which then carries (positively) into other activities throughout the day. Meditation: Take just two minutes per day to simply breathe and focus on your breath going in and out. Doing so will train your mind to focus, reduce stress, and help you be more present in this moment. Random Acts of Kindness: This can be something simple, and Shawn suggests writing one positive email to praise or thank someone each day. Not only does it benefit the recipient, but it also increases your feeling of social support. Which one will you choose?!? Pathway to Promise Podcast w/ Dr. Brad Miller

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 9, 2018 25:10

In Episode 003“The Pathway to Promise” podcast Dr. Brad Miller presents the third of five foundational episodes which present the core teachings on which the pathway to promise process is built. The title of the episode is “The Foundational Gift of Drawing on a Higher Power.” The Pathway to Promise Promise is grounded in the belief that every person has a God-given promised life of peace, prosperity and purpose and you must implement a planned pathway with the proper people to quickly overcome life’s challenges to achieve that promised life. The second foundational principle of the pathway to promise process is “The Foundational Gift of Drawing on a Higher Power.” Dr. Brad extrapolated these four principles from 2 Timothy 1:7 “God does not give us a spirit of timidity but the spirit of power love and self-discipline” “Drawing on a Higher Power flows directly from the statement “God give us a spirit of power” Dr. Brad uses the story of a whitewater rafting trip where he almost drowned and had to be rescued and framework for understanding the power of prayer and dependence on a higher power. Dr Brad intrudes the listener to spiritual practices particularly the spiritual practice of journaling. Dr Brad teaches the SOAP plan for journaling as a means to draw upon a higher power. The SOAP Plan includes the following process of reading the Bible and journaling: S-Scripture: Reading a passage of scripture and writing down and speaking aloud the passage in the journal. O-Observation: Observe the passage of scripture in writing in terms of context, message and impact. A-Application: Write in the journal the application the passage of scripture has on your personal life. P-Prayer: Write a prayer in the journal of adoration, confession and gratitude based on the passage of scripture. Meditation: Take a few moments of quiet meditation to reflect on the power of the scripture. Dr. Brad Miller is a student of life transformation. A Christian pastor for 35 years he holds a doctoral degree in transformational leadership. Dr. Brad’s blog and podcast can be found at pathwaypromise.com. The ancient Chinese philosopher and military strategist Sun Tzu is famous for saying: “To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.” His wisdom is surprisingly relevant to the battle against insomnia. The key to winning the battle for sleep, to breaking our wakefulness’s resistance, is not to fight for sleep in the first place. You may be lying in bed wanting to fall asleep but maybe you shouldn’t even be bothering to try. Take these two "supremely excellent" tests to see if the moment is right to break your enemy, insomnia's, resistance. Whether you are someone who meditates or not, these two simple tests will help with your insomnia. If you are interested in more of the theory and explanation around it you can listen to this Podcast's companion, the Serena Podcast series (https://goo.gl/Dxu4eo). It's not possible to avoid stress completely but being able to recognize the signs and deal with stressors correctly can be a massive benefit to ourselves and those around us   Symptoms headaches insomnia anxiety over eating / not eating social withdrawal chest pain fatigue feeling like you’re losing control How Stress Effects Us Physical increased risk of heart attack / high blood pressure Stress increases blood flow to muscles, constricts blood vessels, and increases heart rate. Constant stress to the heart in this manner can lead to heart attacks and stroke. Even in relatively healthy people. weakened immune system Stress hormones jump starts the immune system, good if you’re hurt but constant stimulation weakens your system leaving you open to illness missed periods / heavy or irregular cycle Can also magnify symptoms of menopause drug / alcohol abuse obesity mental increased chances of depression anger / irritation How Our Stress Affects Others Someone once told me, we take things out on those we love because we trust them. Unfortunately, that places your chronic stress on them putting them into the same cycle you’ve found yourself. It’s important to be self aware and listen to those around you. If they lash out back at you, it’s likely they are feeding off your stress. They may also ask why you’re acting or talking a certain way, this is a great trigger that you may need to dial it back and evaluate. There’s nothing wrong with saying you need a moment to think or calm down. We all have a mechanism in our brains that copycats those in our social circles. These are called “mirror neurons” and are used to help social circles empathize, bond, and learn. We see these in action when we yawn after another person or we mirror our work collages posture. This also goes for emotions. Steps to reduce Stress Start writing in a journal A journal can help you recognize stressors as well as help you naturally work out solutions Try to locate your triggers If you can, figure out what your common stressors are that you can control. If it’s you commute, maybe discuss flex time with your boss to avoid traffic or maybe telecommute a once or twice a week. If it your kids when you get home, work with a family member or spouse to watch your kids for a moment to decompress. You may not be able to address every stressor but you’ll be surprised what targeting only a few can do for your physical and mental health. The 4 A’s Avoid stress if you can by saying “no”, keep away from those who stress you out that you don’t have to interact with, take control over your environment such as the the TV or shopping in a less crowded store, reduce your todo list to the necessities. Alter your situation Express yourself to those that add to your stress by limiting conversation or letting them know they are adding to your stress. Most people will sympathize and be willing to help, compromise where possible, be mindful of your workload. Adapt Try to put a silver lining on problems such as bad traffic is a chance to listen to a new audiobook or podcast, look at the big picture / the long term odds are the problem won’t have as long of an effect as you think Accept things you can’t change Don’t try to control the uncontrollable sometimes it’s easier to prepare than fight the inevitable, learn to forgive those that caused stress or make mistakes holding on to something that’s causing stress to you but no the other person is just poisoning yourself. Talk to loved ones, vent. Find a person at work, at home, friend, or family that’s happy to just listen to you talk. They may be able to help with solutions. If you just want to vent without getting feedback, let them know. MOVE THAT BODY hit a heavy bag / excersize dance like an idiot go for a walk hike Do something out of the ordinary take a painting class lay in the grass and find pictures in clouds read drink some coffee or tea and do nothing Manage your time better by not over committing to things, making a list of priorities, white board your items at work or display them so other know you have a lot going on, break things into steps Meditation Take a break / breather ----- Check out the store: https://goo.gl/Ytti1Y Support the show: https://goo.gl/O5w2R0 Grab a book with Audible: https://goo.gl/SzEZJO Start shopping at Thrive Market: https://goo.gl/D1YEyH
