Were there missing girls in Biscay? Sex ratios in Northern Spain, Fiveteen 1550-1899", publicado en el número 19 de la revista Investigaciones de Historia Económica. Listen in as I talk with Stacia Moffett, the acclaimed author of the "Lost and Found in Tennessee" series.  Stacia's novels, including “The Missing Girl” and “Jessa is Back,” offer a compelling exploration of the South's complex history, cultural dynamics, and enduring legacies. Born and raised on a small farm near Nashville, Stacia's experiences growing up in the Jim Crow South deeply influenced her writing and her perspectives on racial and social justice. Here are the questions I asked Stacia: Reflecting on your childhood near Nashville on a small farm, how did rural life and your father's artistic spirit influence your worldview and writing? ·      How did the Jim Crow era shape your understanding of the South's cultural and racial dynamics, both personally and in your writing? ·      How did witnessing segregation and white supremacy inspire the "Lost and Found in Tennessee" series? ·      Why is it important to address racial and social justice in literature today? ·      What message would you give to those who may not recognize ongoing racial injustices? Before we move on, I am so appreciative of our sponsors and must thank them. Please support our sponsors and tell them you heard about them on Hilary Topper on Air. What are your thoughts on the rise of book bans, particularly those targeting race and identity? ·      Do you believe diverse narratives should remain accessible for all readers? Why or why not? ·      For readers unfamiliar with "The Missing Girl" and "Jessa is Back," can you set the stage and explain how the two books are connected? ·      Why is the friendship between the girls central to the story, and how does it reflect themes like resilience, loyalty, and social dynamics? ·      Can you talk about your vineyard in Washington and how it connects to your love of nature? ·      And finally, Stacia, how can our listeners get in touch with you or learn more about your books? Thank you, Stacia, for being on the show! I'd also like to thank our sponsors once more. Welcome to your weekly UAS news update we have 5 stories for you, New DJI Action 5, Air 3S hits FCC Database, Pilot Institute Community, a Drone finds missing Louisiana girl, and a press release on drone incursions into wild fire aircraft operations. First up, DJI has released the new Action 5! The action 5 comes with a new 1/1.3” sensor (the same size as the Mini 4 Pro), 10-bit D-Log M, HLG, horizon steady, subject tracking, a barometer/hydrometer, 47GB of internal storage, magnetic mounting, 4 hour battery life, 113 degree max operating temperature, and connection with the DJI Mic 2s! Whew, lots cool specs, we'll be getting on to check out and post some content on! Next, the Air 3S has hit the FCC database! We've seen quite a few leaks about the Air 3S, including some images with an RC-N3 series controller, what appears to be a larger sensor in a dual camera setup, and potentially larger batteries. Rumors have also included that batteries may be compatible with the current Air 3. We've seen some decent images of the Air 3, we'll have to wait and see if DJI publishes an announcement any time soon! Third up, a big Pilot Institute update. This week we launched the Premium Community with the goal to help part 107 pilots use their certificate to get paid work. In premium you'll find tons of interviews and workshops, we'll be releasing exclusive content every month. And, if you're a fan of News Update, we have an extended version every week called Post Flight. Each episode we discuss News Update stories in more detail and give our personal opinion on the facts. Visit Pilotinstitute.com/community to check it all out! Third up, a drone in Louisiana located a missing child this week. A 10 year old Louisiana girl was reported missing early in the day on Sunday. Searchers were unable to locate the girl, and a company from Arkansas, Drone Management Services, stepped in to assist. Using what appears to be a Mavic 3 Thermal, Co-Owner Josh Kolber located the girl sleeping on the ground. Great use of the drone Josh! Last up, the National Interagency Fire Center has published data this week about 21 incidents where drones have operated near wildfires. In 10 of these events, firefighting aircraft operations were suspended. Generally, firefighting aircraft operate within a TFR, meaning other aircraft including traditional aircraft are not permitted in that area. Be sure to check the TFRs before you take off, especially in wildfire prone areas. Alright, that's all we've got! Greg will be back on Monday, so he'll see you then for the live Q&A!

From the back of their closet, she comes across old VHS tapes and a VHS player that she doesn't recognize. Home movies, old memories? She pushes the tape in and presses play. The screen lights up. It's a bed and two naked bodies. Her husband… and another girl laying next to him. There are words written all over both of their bodies in thick marker, words like ‘Prince' and ‘King.' Then Somi sees the blood. The girl has a long slice down her private area; she's bleeding, trembling, completely terrified. The male—her husband's voice—snaps at the girl, “Endure it even if it hurts.” Then he proceeds to SA her. Somi is frozen—but her mind is in overdrive—she can't shake the feeling that she knows the girl—she can't place a name but she recognizes the girl's face. It was the same one on the missing posters in town. The girl in the video was the little, 8-year-old girl that had gone missing a year ago. Audrii Cunningham's body has been found along the Trinity River after water levels were lowered, allowing detectives access.   Don Steven McDougal, 42, led investigators to the location earlier in the investigation. McDougal has now been charged with capital murder.   Don Steven McDougal has been a person of interest since the first 24 hours of Audrii Cunningham's disappearance. He was arrested on an unrelated charge. In 2010, Don Steven McDougal was working in a local garage with Elic Bryan III. Bryan says McDougal seemed like an OK guy, until one night when McDougal had too much to drink and Bryan had to kick him out of his house. McDougal left, briefly, and came back with a knife, slashing tires and trying to stab Bryan.  Bryan had to get his gun to try to run a drunk McDougal off his property, but it took police with police dogs coming out to track him down and take McDougal to jail. Don Steven McDougal admits he was supposed to take Audrii Cunningham to the bus stop but he has yet to tell investigators if she made it to the bus stop or not.  Joining Nancy Grace Today:  Elic Bryan III - Assaulted by Don Steven McDougal in 2010  Lana Shadwick – Attorney, Former Harris County Judge and Prosecutor; Legal Analyst for Breitbart, Texas; Facebook: @TXBoots Caryn L. A six-year-old girl who went missing in Gaza last month - and whose desperate pleas for help sparked a campaign to find her - has been confirmed dead. Hind Rajab was fleeing the city with her aunt, uncle and three cousins when the car they were travelling in appears to have come face to face with Israeli tanks, and come under fire. Recordings of Hind's conversations with call operators - shared publicly by the Red Crescent - sparked a campaign to find out what had happened to her. We hear from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society who tried to save her, but also lost two people from the ambulance team who were sent to rescue her. Also in the programme: Why Joe Biden's stance on the Israel-Gaza war has left some Arab Americans feeling alienated; Qatar, have won football's Asian Cup to retain the title; and we hear from Spain's firstly openly LGBT matador.(Photo: Hind Rajab, 6, was trying to escape to the west of Gaza City when the car she was travelling in came under fire.
