The Jayhawks are out of the NCAA tournament. To wash this bitter taste from their minds, the QBs invite their listeners to think back on some of the all-time greats who wore a Kansas University basketball jersey. Remember Raef Lafrentz? How about Wayne Simien? Or Danny Manning? Of course you remember them! Also on this episode, the QBs explain why they are also fans of Kansas State and hope you, the listener, will cheer the Wildcats into the Final Four.Broken news article: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1017650-kansas-basketball-the-top-50-players-in-school-history Podcast Home: https://www.kansasqb.com Support the Show: https://www.patreon.com/kansasqb/ Updates and Live Shows: https://www.facebook.com/kansasqb/ Video Podcast Library: https://www.youtube.com/@juhlmediallc/playlists

The MLB coming to Iowa has led to many changes around the state over the last two years. Last year's game with the Yankees and White Sox was a spectacle. The sights and sounds of the movie site and new stadium, coupled with the production of a national broadcast and MLB, drew millions of eyes to the state. Tim and Neil attended the game as part of their official duties for the podcast and had the time of their lives (until the 8th inning, anyways). This year, the boys could not attend the game, so they had to bring in a reliever. Who better to serve as the Moonlight Graham Show's first unofficial correspondent than one of Iowa's favorite role players, Moonlighter Nick Collison? Nick Collison reached out to Tim to get the inside scoop as he was planning to take his dad, Dave Collison, to have a catch and watch the game. The Collisons had a memorable night. This year's trip had everything from playing catch on the field to Harry Carey making a surprise appearance. Tim caught up with Nick the day after the game to catch up on all things Field of Dreams.

While it might be a little different than Sunset Park and Hoosiers, Iowa certainly has more than a few white men that can jump coming out of Iowa hoops. This week Moonlighter Jack Brownlee returns to the studio to help Tim come up with the all-time Iowa NBA team. Some of the greats, like Kyle Korver, Fred Hoiberg and Nick Collison, quickly come to mind but the research required some deep dives. Tim and Jack had to put on their wannabe GM hats to make some tough choices when putting together the official Moonlight all-time Iowa NBA list.

He's been to back-to-back Final Fours, and has seen his jersey retired at both the college and professional levels. He was a first-round draft pick, and a McDonald's All-American. So what does it all come back to for Nick Collison? Consistency. Whether he was consistently great during his time at Kansas, or a consistent leader for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Collison brought the same passion, energy and work ethic every day. A standout from the beginning, Collison averaged double figures in all four seasons in Lawrence. He was the 2003 Big 12 Player of the Year, and closed his career as the conference's all-time leading scorer. But he's best remembered by Kansas fans as the guy who—along with Kirk Hinrich—led the Jayhawks to Final Four appearances in 2002 and 2003. How'd he have so much success at the college level? And how did a guy who averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds have a 14-year NBA career? For the guy known as Mr. Thunder, it all starts at the beginning.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The door was left open a crack during the late 1990s. Iowa State was looking to slip through it. The Hawkeyes’ future was unknown at the time. Dr. Tom Davis’ contract had not renewed and a new coach had not been hired. Cyclone coach Larry Eustachy used the opportunity to court Mason City point guard Jeff Horner, despite him growing up an avid Iowa fan. The basketball phenom really liked what he saw and heard on an unofficial visit to Ames. What would have become a nightmare for Iowa having already lost in-state stars Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison to Kansas turned fond memories. Steve Alford replaced Davis and corralled Horner shortly after his arrival in Iowa City. Horner went on to lead the Hawkeyes to two NCAA Tournaments and a Big Ten Tournament title. He’s their all-time assists leader (612) and is second in three-pointers made (262). We caught up with Horner recently for the Hawkeye History podcast, on which he told stories about being recruited by ISU, playing for Alford, living through the Pierre Pierce arrests, studying Pornography at Iowa (what?) and much more. Please give it a listen. You won’t be disappointed. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Bryan and Dexter return to talk about people loving mediocrity a bit too much with the upcoming jersey retirement of Nick Collison, Boomer Esiason talking about Julian Edelman as a Hall of Famer, pass interference being reviewable in the NFL and Florida State using MLK to recruit player. For a new Daily Fantasy Sports experience and great deals via the AHTT Podcast check out our partners 'Thrive Fantasy' today:http://bit.ly/ThriveAHTTWe would love to hear your feedback on the podcast as you help us grow.
