*Warning graphic stories* Nick Cooper was a very good cyclist, racing at the top level on the road in the UK and across the continent. This all changed when he was struck by a car (whom the driver was high) sending him flying up in the air and landing on the road with many potentially life changing injuries. (see CCTV footage in link below). In this podcast, we will talk at length about the incident itself, the recovery process involved, to what extent this played its part on his mental health and the friends and family involved, and where he is at with things currently. This podcast did get very deep, emotional, and graphic at times, so please be warned. Don't call it a comeback! Literally, given the number of alternative titles Pete Walker's 1978 chiller goes under. Best-known as The Comeback, stars crooner Jack Jones as crooner Nick Cooper - a stretch, then - who is all fresh from a stay in rehab and ready to record his comeback album. The process is interrupted by artistic conflicts, record industry politics, scary ghosts and a hag-masked killer armed with a sickle. Not necessarily in that order. The first in Pop Screen's 2023 Halloween month sees Robyn Adams rejoin the show to talk about the genius of Sheila Keith, Walker's gift for an outrageous title - including some contradictory advice given to his female protagonists - and the sheer weight of classic comedy connections in this ostensibly straight-faced horror film. If you've ever wanted a slasher featuring the stars of This Is Spinal Tap, Not the Nine O'Clock News and Last of the Summer Wine, this is for you, you absolute weirdo. If you'd like to help us detox from heroin and restart our tarnished careers, you can donate to our Patreon, where you'll get a monthly bonus episode of this show. The next one, about aliyah's posthumous role in Queen of the Damned, is out tomorrow. Climatize a workspace hundreds of feet under a lake? Bruce Zawisky and Nick Cooper of Polygon South discuss recent projects with unique solutions. As weather shifts, innovation is more critical than ever. Polygon is trail-blazing new builds and renovations in the south.Working with a connection of general contractors, Polygon recently finished a precise hospital system for Children's Healthcare in Atlanta. “Hospitals have a lot of strict guidelines, so we have to have open communication,” said Cooper, the Business Development Specialist in Atlanta. The team and general contractors had worked together previously, and collaboration came naturally. The south experiences extremes in all four seasons, “the focus was on high-quality, year-round climate control,” said Zawisky, Business Unit Manager of the south. The administration wanted to track energy use across four buildings into an IoT system. The system would allow the hospital to track and streamline its regular energy use. Measuring is key to maintain standards and restrictions. According to Hospital Review, healthcare systems all over the country are working toward climate goals. Sustainability is a crucial part of everything Polygon does. “We're not going to over-engineer anything, and we're not going to under-engineer. We want to make everything as sustainable as possible,” said Zawisky. That is true in the other project discussed. Climatizing a workspace. To make things even more complicated, the workspace sits hundreds of feet under a lake, and the design only had 24 sq. in. for the elements included.

Green exercise and nature therapy have been hitting the news lately. Increasingly you’ll see them referred to in public health policy in the UK. The healing power of nature isn’t new - the ancient Greeks had over 400 temples for outdoor healing. But, in our increasingly busy, urbanised lives do we really understand the value of nature? How can we show that nature is a good and effective therapy for all sorts of people in all kinds of contexts? Can it and will it replace some uses of pharmaceutical drugs? In the latest episode of the Louder Than Words Podcast, Jules Pretty and Martha Dixon will explore how University of Essex academics are providing the evidence to help in the better use of what we might call the natural health service. They will also speak to people putting these insights into action and transforming lives. They will be joined by: Nick Cooper from the Department of Psychology discussing how research on outdoor activities such as angling has led to a European-wide initiative to support mental health. Jo Barton from the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences at Essex talking about how Government policy on nature therapy can help young people from an early age and prevent problems in the future. Jo Roberts from the Wilderness Foundation explaining how the charity takes troubled youngsters and takes them out into nature. “Your network is your net worth.” In the real estate industry, this phrase has become much more than a buzzword. Networking is now one of the most powerful tools for growing your business. He will also discuss the importance of working with professionals, coaches, and mastermind groups to boost your real estate investment game.   His advice to anyone who wants to make it big in real estate business: Reach out to the people that are doing it. Read some books and get educated. Join mastermind. Get a coach.   Nic Cooper is the Principal at Hudson Blue Multifamily. His passion lies in creating solutions for investors, exploring opportunities in growing markets, and underwriting deals.  He brings over 15 years of real estate investing experience and has grown the Hudson Blue Multifamily portfolio to 24 units with his partner.   In This Episode 1:19 - Backstory of Nick Cooper   7:45 - The benefits of having a network   17:34 - What motivates him to pursue real estate investing   23:04- Why working with a tax professional is a smart move   29:47 - His painful experience in property investment   35:36 - His advice to active duty military on buying a house   49:39 - The difference between motivation and discipline   55:32 - Why having an asset manager is important   1:04:48 - Why hiring a coach is an investment   Favorite Quotes "So it's like, can I give my family something that will last after I'm gone? Even like income from retirement, that's taxed. Now with my real estate, because of all these tax breaks, I basically pay no taxes on it, legally. I tell my accountant like this can't be right. I have no taxes this year on all this money? Yeah, none. And I'm like, I don't know. I'm afraid to knock on the door and come get me. But it's all legally done."   "Hooking up with someone who was doing what you want to do right, was the way to go. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with someone else. That's the only way you're gonna be able to do it."   "The great thing about multifamily is that you have people of professions that this is what they do. They're linked up with teams of other professionals."   "Your network is your net worth. So the people you're around, it's what's going to find you the stuff."   "I counsel people, especially in the military, like do not buy a house in a duty station unless you're ok at being a landlord. Well, I don't wanna be a landlord. Then you shouldn't buy a house. You should rent. Put your money in someone else, like a multi-family or anything else, like storage or something like that."   "People think that this home they're buying is an investment. If it doesn't make you money, it's not an investment."   "Discipline is what's going to get you that next deal, that next side hustle."   "Education is important, but most important I think is finding a mentor or finding someone doing what you want to be doing and link-up with them."   "I want to help people avoid mistakes I made and get to a point where I can make wealth. On Sunday January 3rd, 2016, I lost a brother, and the world lost a leader. My brother Zin and a friend were killed in a tragic crash in Denver, as they sat at a red light and a man in an SUV who was fleeing some firemen who had approached his vehicle as he was asleep at a red light just a couple of blocks away. He hit the gas, reached a speed of about 70mph, and about two blocks down the road, he killed one of my greatest friends. On June 6, 2016 I went back to what I still consider my home base, KPFT in Houston, to gather a group of friends and family in tribute to our brother Zin. We went back to where it all started with he and I. We started the Damage Control program on KPFT on May 23rd, 2002. And it hurt like crazy to come back for this reason, but it raised me and I am sure a lot of people up super high as they heard stories of how Zin touched half of Houston with his great vibes and energies. Dude is still a ray of light shining down on us all. Please share far and wide.
