Episode 3 is up and focused on the breadth of features in 10.2.5. Are you liking the breadth or wishing for more depth? Ever completed a Superbloom but forgot to pick up the quest first? Comments, answers & help for all of it, along with an expansion announcement! (SQ, not WoW) SQ Ep. 3 is on your podcast platform of choice. I'll see you out there! Don't mind this: SKmW1OYni0tWQd9S8iYc Episode 3 Show Notes: Opening: Tyrande and Shandris talking about the future of the Night Elves in a Bel'Ameth in-game cinematic. Welcome to episode: Welcome to January, to 2024, and to Episode 3 of Solo Queue! Starting in Bel'ameth to celebrate the drop of 10.2.5 and the opening of the new Night Elf capital city. Big news of the week is the arrival of 10.2.5. My first content update as a content creator. A fair amount of early online reactions seemed to be on the negative side, and I do not want to get drawn into that. I will look for the positives because I think there are positives in 10.2.5 and I think there are realistic limits to what we can expect from a .5 patch, from an MMORPG in terms of story, and from a development team that I do believe is trying to turn a very large ship towards a better future. In the show, we are going to talk about the big activities of 10.2.5: The arrival or return of two capitals for two Alliance races Some Azerothian Archives A little bit on the Follower dungeons My adventures in the Season of Discovery The news A video for advice on gearing as a solo player And my mostly positive thoughts on 10.2.5 overall, despite some of the negative feedback that may be out there. Some extra big thanks. Big thanks to the Thrall's Balls podcast for support of Solo Queue on their own show. Check out their recent episode #124 on Spotify, Apple, or your own podcast feed or say hello @Thrallsballspod on Twitter Thanks to my first two Patreon subscribers! Andrew and Righteous Bandy have taken the leap and are supporting the show with actual money! Some firm Patreon goals and rewards, including extra episodes, are coming. And, thanks to you! Yeah you. I see you listening and reading these show notes! I want to hear from you with feedback and suggestions. soloqueuewow on socials, at gmail, and even at the Patreon. I will be recording occasional interview episodes entitled "How Do You Solo?" I am going to be reaching out to players and content creators alike to hear how they play the game. There just might be another episode in your podcast feed before the February episode scheduled for the 21st. News and updates: 10.2.5 is out. Remember that dynamic flying is now available anywhere normal flying is offered in the Warcraft universe. That includes Outland, and the Outland Cup. The event ends on February 1st. 10.2.6 is on the PTR, as was reported in December, but it is fully-encrypted, so there has been no data-mining and still, no one knows that that mysterious black pirate flag hanging off the 2024 roadmap actually means. Visually, it sits between winter and spring, so possibly March? We will see. Looks like it may be followed shortly by The War Within Alpha. And season 4 looks to be spring, so likely April at the earliest. On the Classic side, the next phase of Season of Discovery arrives February 8. The level cap will rise to 40 and a fresh slate of runes will be waiting to be found. And the Gnomeregon raid will be the end-game content for level 40 characters. If you are of the PvP persuasion, Stranglethorn Vale will once again be the most dangerous place to take a casual walk in Azeroth! Side quests: On being bad at video games, SoD, and HC Self-found mode I am not very good at video games. Have played games for decades. Now I find myself still alone at a desk playing games, but there are potentially millions of other players running by and "watching". Not quite as alone as before. Because of not wanting to either actively compete or passively be judged, I work to play alone. In SoD, I am trying to be self-reliant by creating more characters that can help outfit and supply the first character. That becomes the game within the game. Self-Found mode is interesting to me. It is how I tend to play, although HSF takes away the support of alt characters. SF has my interest piqued. Popping in to a tavern or inn for a local drink: I don't think the Night Elves are big drinkers, but if you head to the Silver Feather, the inn at Bel'ameth, you can grab an Azure Leywine that refresh, but still leave you clear-headed to help get the city set up. Today I Learned: You can accept all of those pesky weekly quests from the Adventure Guide (Shift-J, second tab after Traveler's Log). Main topic: What do we want from these video games? Reviews of Bel'Ameth and Reclamation of Gilneas. What the addition of these two capital cities might mean. Talk through the Bel'Ameth experience. Difficult to find the quest. What and who is in the new zone. This is the capital city, but might it serve as a new starting zone in the future? Music is amazing and reflects that changes Night Elves have experienced since initial WoW zones. Cinematics associated with Bel'Ameth are looking ahead in the story. Playing the Reclamation of Gilneas. Not the most engaging questing, but the story is interesting. After recapture, the city is quite empty, but that is how it should be. Feels like both cities are being seeded and renewed to play a part in the expansions and stories to come, a long-term view of the developers. I am optimistic about that. Quick hits Azerothian Archives: Early feedback was it was buggy and not very engaging and I sadly have to agree. The activities seem more like pushing buttons and do not yet feel like an improvement over old archeology. Admittedly only halfway through the initial quest chain. Will come back to it, but so far feels like a miss for something I was looking forward to as solo content. Follower Dungeons are as promised. Did a Halls of Infusion and was able to clear three dungeon quests. These quests are from stories from much earlier in the expansion. Only now continuing them makes for disjointed gameplay. It will be nice when they are in place already in The War Within. AND, Blizzard, give us Follower Raids for all the same reasons. Solo-friendly roundup: Dungeon Dojo works to make dungeons and raids more accessible for those who do not like group content for various reasons. Check them out on Discord. Useful video from SignsofKelani on YouTube - How To Gear Up ILVL 476 ALL BY YOURSELF - No Group Content Needed! Good advice to get you to 447 ilvl. Feels like it gets a bit crazy and confusing after that with crafted gear and all the crests and such. Outro: Music credits: all in-show audio from Blizzard; intro and outro music by my real friends in the doom metal band OGRE. Check them out at ogrereal.bandcamp.com. Thanks to my lovely, supportive wife and to Podbean, the host for Solo Queue. Huge thanks to Andrew and Righteous Bandy for their support at Patreon.com! You can support Solo Queue there as well. Subscribe at any of the podcast feeds. Please leave reviews and 5-star reviews when possible, as they will help grow this little podcast adventure. Solo Queue is at soloqueuewow on all the socials, Gmail, and Patreon. Send me feedback on the show, as well as your solo play tips and stories. I want to feature them on the show. Coming soon, and possibly ahead of the February episode, I am launching a new interview series on how people play this game called “How Do You Solo?” Players, fellow content creators, and I am close to announcing the first guest, but not quite yet! Back again in the Solo Queue in a month, possibly sooner! I'll see you out there!

This recording is all over the place a'la the classic Brainstormz episodes, but I still manage to dig deep. Just took much longer haha I'm basically clearing my mind after an intense period. The more I keep on talking the more I notice how much this recording helps as a part of my mental regrouping as well as my healing process. I felt as if I was about become sick while recording this as well I prefer female Rogues. The female Night Elf looks the absolute best with the best animations for my tast. Not sure which race I'll use Horde side. The new models really have lessened my options in regards to races I want to play. What's up with those creepy eyes? This is the single most chill return to a pre patch that I've ever had. Ever. There's so much “you can do” that I'm skipping The reasons why I want to main Rogue. Tired of carrying so many sets of gear as a Druid when I min max. As a Rogue all I need is to change weapons and PvP gear. Eventually. Playing on NA gives me a great opportunity to focus a lot more on one class compared to EU where I have a plethora of alts available. How I'll switch from Rogue if I change my mind Starting out with chillsteps feels so good. It lays a great foundation if I want to go hard later on The difference between EU and NA players in general. I have a Rank 1 mindset, but I would never spend the time reaching Rank 1 Different pre patch behaviour in Shadowlands because of all the Garbage systems Blizzard implemented. Skipping a ton of "content". New playstyle priorities, PvP plans, Dragonflight choices, Testing pre patch before buying the Dragonflight expansion Solo Queue is rated. So what does that mean for the future? Solo RBG Queueing? Blizzard chose Solo Shuffle instead of Solo Queueing. The second choice would be so much easier to implement but Blizzard pride, bro. Modern Blizzard = Blizzard 2.0 and forward. Listen to episode # 32 for a breakdown of how Supercell managed to do what Blizzard 2.0 never could. How I'd find and add chill PvPers through Solo Shuffling. The Butthurt meta mindset vs the Rank 1 mindset. The Rank 1 mindset is 3 - 10% of the entire playerbase and within that already limited percentage there will be another 3% that push harder than the other 97% within the Rank 1 range. I might delve deeper into this topic about the 1 - 3% mindset at a later date. Time tells, there's no rush WoW info https://check-pvp.fr/us/Sargeras/Globalled NA toons. Active project https://check-pvp.fr/eu/Bronze%20Dragonflight/Grayz EU toons. In which the Mister and the Monsters join me in reviewing 2003's ELF, from a script by David Berenbaum and directed by Jon Favreau, the story follows Buddy the Elf (Will Farrell) who leaves the North Pole and goes :through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly twirly gum drops" and then walks through the Lincoln Tunnel in search of his dad (James Caan). The film is currently streaming on Starz and Philo and with a premium subscription on Hulu, Amazon Prime, SlingTV and fuboTV. The film is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 37 minutes. Hey all, Lore Boys with more lore for ya! We're talking the beautiful land of Azeroth once more, and ye old gods who were found on it before any life on earth. Underground Music, Hip-Hop/Rap/MCing, Breakcore, EDM and Metal Disc Jockey with either a much greater emphasis on linguistic inventiveness than mainstream forms or a greater emphasis on the use of extreme profanity and disturbing criminal themes. The difference between a pop/top-40/requests DJ and an underground DJ is not that one plays better music than the other or that one is a sellout, or that one is a “musical masturbator”. The difference is in the crowd that they are intended for: searchers vs. discoverers. The “underground” “club” DJ is the kind that wants to educate his crowd… yet another term I’ll use with hesitation. He wants to find a correlation between what he likes and what his crowd responds to, by way of introducing them to music they may not have otherwise heard. He wants to teach and encourage them to find something they didn’t know they needed. Whether it’s the thrashing riffs or either the sampling or the EDM-esque chorus in motion, there is not a second that doesn’t have a catchy sample and jingle part going on. The music is not without its flaws though, some songs are clearly better than others, Not that there is a bad song here. He puts absolutely everything new or remind the listener of past sounds but everything it does, it does well and even great at times. this might as well be the perfect soundtrack for all kind of music. If you're suspicious of this claim, then hijack the jukebox at your local bar or kindly offer to be the DJ at a Halloween party and getting rid of any stylistic barriers to integrated music. The outstanding drums, variety and overall harshness and brevity combining most of the harshest elements of metal with electronic genres, these record creates some outrageously chaotic freak outs from each of its eclectic formula.

Convert to Raid Presents: The podcast for World of Warcraft and other Blizzard Games!
This week, the CtR crew found out that Blackrock Foundry (the next raid instance) will be coming February 3, sooner than many players anticipated! While some are undoubtedly relieved to be moving on, is there concern that the beginning of this expansion is moving just as quickly as Mists of Pandaria? Or was Highmaul really supposed to be more of an introductory raid that would lead into the “real raiding” of Blackrock? There’s more information data mined from Patch 6.1 from the test servers, including character model updates, better colorblind options, and UI changes. But why are the Blizzard developers changing the male Night Elf run? Also: Convert to Raid (the guild) celebrates their second anniversary, “Veteran Accounts” explained, how to take your team to the mythic level and what you can expect along the way, a technical look at resto druids, your questions and so much more!

Resilience now scales in the same way armor and magic resistances do. A player with 32.5% damage reduction from resilience in 4.0.6 should see their damage reduction unchanged in 4.1. Those with less than 32.5% will gain slightly. Those with more will lose some damage reduction, increasingly so as their resilience climbs.Death Knight 1. Raise Ally has been redesigned to be a battle resurrection, similar to Rebirth. It is instant cast, but costs 50 Runic Power to use, and has a 10-minute cooldown. It shares the same global battle resurrection cap with Rebirth and Soulstone.what Chilton said about Desolace at GDC**Having decided to revamp Azeroth’s original two continents, the first priority was not to change things too much. “We knew we needed to retain the soul of the original,” Chilton explained. “People had to feel like it was the same world.” In order to strike the right balance, the designers hammered out a useful maxim, attempting to ensure that the content was comprised of “one third old, one third improved, and one third new.” Desolace was flawed for a number of reasons. The quests, to close legion portals, herd Kodo beasts around, and pick a side in the centaur war, were not as compelling as the designers had hoped. The desolate landscape, while atmospheric, was deemed too “monotonous and oppressive.” The war between the centaur clans was difficult to understand. The Burning Legion presence was “more annoying than threatening.” Maybe most importantly, the two quest hubs were at the extreme ends of the zone, meaning that you had a lot of running to do if you wanted to turn anything in.In order to fix the zone’s problems, the designers decided to address the monotony first, by adding a dash of color and life to the zone. In Cataclysm, the Cenarion Circle, a group of tree-hugging Night Elf druids, moves into Desolace, creating a large, verdant area smack dab in the center. The designers also made significant upgrades to the player’s travel patterns, along with the quest mechanics.Looking back on these changes, Chilton was rueful, deciding that the introduction of the Cenarion druids and their green thumbs changed the zone too much. “I’ll be the first to say I signed off on the regrowth idea for Desolace, but it lost some of its soul.” “If you’re reworking content,” he cautioned the other designers in the room, “make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons.”Say it dont Spray itPemmoria: Great job on the podcast Kaziah and Belthal. Warning, some spoilers Ashayo Completed Dragonblight questing this week - achievement "Might of Dragonblight" (130 quests) Ashrune, my unholy DK completed the starting zone and is out picking flowers before heading to Outlands Ashayo dinged 77 and bought her cold weather flying ; but still riding until Asheal hits 77 also Factions vs gear level eg Wrymrest Accord in Dragonblight - hit Honored at 75. Great blue waist peice for honoured - but you have to be level 78 Ashayo & Asheak got Tuskarrmageddon achievement ; epic fishing pole and penguin pet, and upgrade chest peice (only needed honoured, but needed level 76) Grizzly hills - Four daily that flags your for PvP - Blue Sky logging grounds. Conquest Hold - pit fighting ; very average cloth rewards. Where's the real replacement for Ring of Blood? Aprillian: Took the twins to Outland for the outland loot, but soon scurry back to level up herbalism and mining. Theardrion-Glacierthief Theprimall-Ratmasher Tuesday morning and evening running around the crater for TheArdrion and Arathi Highland for thePrimall. Of course Theardrion had a quicker leveling because he got points for smelting Dreamt about farming ore and herbalistm in Arathi Highland all night Tues. But couldn't right click on nodes. Thursday both Theardrion and Theprimall got to 300 in mining/herbalism. Sent them to Outland. Did go to Stonebreaker but then skipped to Falcon Watch 9days left on Tuesday, so by Sun 5 or 4 days left on the mail returned from the great Mail debacle. Friday and Sat morning had Theprimall and Theardrion in Falcon Watch with Rilfire skinning. Did the collassal and the demonic essence and freeing the hooded people. Using the rod to reduce the big Vamithrax like guy. Both went back to Ebon Hold to train and use a runeforge. Much harder to level herbalism than mining. Theardrion dinged 62. Sat Theardrion-Grubreaver Theprimall-Dirtleaper Aprillian got 2 shards once so far with the soul shard minor glyph Moved stuff to ally side, selling a lot. The Contest Reading and Results Thanks to everyone who submitted entries. We got a lot of good responses. Honorable Mentions Heya Ctrl Alt Wow folks! I just thought that I'd enter the contest to win the CE for Wrath of the Lich King, So, here is my story: If I remember correctly, it is basically how do you balance WoW with home life. As a married man with a wife who does not play WoW, I sometimes find it difficult to get time in to play without getting into trouble. However, as my wife teaches a night class on Tuesdays, I can usually play then and not have to worry about anything. On other days, it becomes more difficult, what I have to do is play when she is watching TV shows that I dont particularly like, or when she is busy correcting exams or working on her dissertation. I try to make at least a couple of nights a week that I dont play at all so that I can spend time with her, even if it is just lying down on the couch with her watching TV while she corrects papers during commercials, and on weekends, she will usually sleep in so I can get a couple of hours in in the morning also. I basically just try to strike a balance between getting my addiction in and keeping my marriage intact.... I will always walk the dog with her on the weekends and we do the chores together, so I don't get yelled at for playing that damn game while she is doing all the work. Anyway, I hope that is sufficient, I am certainly not the best writer on the planet, but maybe that wont matter for the contest! Keep up the good work on the show. Numnug (Aka Steve) ________________ Greetings, Aprillian and Ashayo Please consider this my official entry into the contest. Yours is one of about three or four WoW podcasts that I am subscribed to on iTunes, but it became my favorite after only a couple of episodes. Your laid back approach to the game is one that I can appreciate because I am a very casual player. I have been playing for a couple of years. I once thought that creating too many alts was a sign of some degenerative mental condition. I don't know if it is or not, but at least I know now that I am not the only one that does it! Most of the other WoW podcats cater to the hardcore player who might be focused solely on one class or one activity. CtrlAltWow shows that there us much to appreciate about the game itself. I play on the Moonrunner server. My main characters are Faluciel (70 night elf druid), Conoreyna (70 human warlock), and Either (67 night elf death knight). Wrath of the Lich King has renewed my love for this game (it was starting to falter a bit after some glaring issues I had with TBC). The only problem I have with your podcast is that it makes me want to create even more alts and I need to focus on my death knight! Take care, J Third Place Good evening to both of my awesome voice accented podcast host. This email will be for entry into the Wotlk collectors edition contest. It's a brief story on the rise of my death knight. Just a quick reason for the story if you don't mind: I transferred servers and a friend of mind actually was using my toons name as a place holder in case we ever decided to move there. Unknown to me at the time I had to change my name and decided to spell my rogue's name backwards (Suoidisni). Of course I soon found out who was holding my name and didn't want to pay for another name change; however I decided to create a death knight with the original name. When I heard of the contest y'all were putting on it gave me a great chance to come up with a brief background history on how my rogue dies and becomes a death knight since the DK has my real characters name. Side Note: Suoidisni (the newly named rogue – which is my main) is Nsidious's (formerly the rogue main but now a death knight) sister but I didn't have time to go into that since it was already getting long. And I know how the death knight story line ends but once again I didn't want to have y'all reading a book. Spoiler: Suoidisni and Nsidious reunite. Stun – You've met my rogue! Pressure builds in the confines of your grip. Blood seeps through and begins to wash dirt from your hands as you tighten the grasp around your weapon. Eye's fixed in time, unable to move beyond their current direction. Lungs fight for each burst of air. You plead with your body to take another breath….but….it doesn't come. Your entire body becomes conscious to a truth the brain denies. It's here. The sound was unmistakable…..stealth….stealth….These words reverberate as they carve their way through the dark layers of your mind. Your eye lids slam shut. Nothing left to see in this world…quiet…sleep now…. ……. ……. There was a time I fought for the betterment of the horde. But that changed the day we killed Illidan. The battle quickly approached its foreseen conclusion when I was struck by the dark barrage. As my life slipped away I was comforted knowing we had plenty healers with the ability to resurrect me. But the cast came to late and in those waning moments The Lich King took me….the only part of me that matters. Now my heart is exceedingly wicked. Filled with hate, I act with no remorse. The world you have created sentenced me to this existence. *Plagued by unclear voices in my head* No…no this is more than I can take. … But look what it did to me.. How can I ask for forgiveness? That which I refused to give, how shall it ever be mine? … It pushed ...but …No, no you pushed... No you can't have my heart anymore…. No you earned your spot in hell now go there and be content. Forgiveness will not be yours. Salvation shall not receive you. I will give my all to bring you death. You'll decay in my hate. Let those you love witness your eternal damnation as they drown in your blood. I hate you, you caused this. I'll deliver your soul to hell. I hate you… I hate you… I hate you….. voice “in·sid·i·ous” I loath the embrace it has on my heart. But far beyond the sun I lay in shadows. I pray that true death finds me soon. Another Death Knight has been born! Suoidisni – Insidious For The Horde… O wait wait a min! Second Place Hello to Aprillian and Ashayo (and Galanther - sorry on the spelling if it's wrong), I've listened to your show for a long time and I have written to your podcast before, many many lunar festivals ago. I thought I'd touch briefly on the subjects you mentioned you were interested in hearing about ( thoughts on WotLK and "how do you manage to play WoW and deal with your home life.") First of all, I lead a ridiculously busy schedule so there are times when I won't even get to log on for a month or more. Without boring everyone too much on the banalities of my life, I'll just mention an overview of why that is. I work 2 (sometimes 3) jobs and go to school full time. I also spend about 2 to 3 hours per day in commuting back and forth. In addition I study, write papers, and share the responsibilities of owning a house with my girlfriend. This leaves me with an average of just under 4 hours for sleep per day. Last week alone I found myself awake for 41 hours strait writing term papers after I had slept just 5 hours two days prior. Even with all of this, I love to play WoW. I play Alliance on the Khaz Modan server, where I have two level 70's (Amaging -Gnome mage; Evilpurger - Human priest), a level 55 (Moonguard - Draenei Pally), a level 42 (Whiskeylover - a drunken Night Elf hunter), two level 19 twinks, and my newest toon: a level 57 DeathKnight named BlightFallen. I don't have a good enough computer to dual box but I'd love to try it. The majority of my character leveling comes from the summer time and holiday breaks. I have been playing from near the beginning; I started just a few months after WoW's initial launch and have played on my own pace. I rarely have time to spend on the game so unfortunately, I've never raided, played an arena, seen any sort of end-game content, bought an epic flyer, or anything of the sort. I don't cry about not being able to see some content or that I can't get all of the coolest gear. Things in life often require hard work. I put in an enormous amount of effort into my life in the real world in hopes that someday it will pay off for me. The "end-game raiders" that have all of their reputations maxed and nothing but epic and legendary gear have also worked very hard and deserve to have something to show for it that others don't have. I enjoy WoW from beginning to end. I still enjoy the original content better than Burning Crusade although I do like what I've seen so far of Wrath... I also bought the BC collector's ed. and was there for the midnight launch of both expansions. I'd really like to win the Collector's set for WotLK to get all of the great content Blizzard provides both in and out of the game. Thanks again for providing a great show for me to listen to while I drive. I am up everyday at 4am and get on the road before 5. Have you heard the radio shows available at that time of day? Your show, and others like it, provide me an escape from a hectic life as well as keeping me informed about World of Warcraft news when I can't get time to play. Sincerely, Bryan in Phoenix Winner I've been meaning to write to you guys for a long time (since Brewfest, basically). I have to thank you for passing on that tip about being able to buy an epic brewfest mount if you had the normal mount from the year before. My tauren druid really hates the kodo mount (he feels that they are a rollover risk, have you ever seen how much they lean when they hit a slope?). So, he diligently collected his tickets a year ago and got a brewfest ram and he was very happy. He was also content that he would be able to work on collecting tickets again this year and get an epic version (even though he isn't ready for the epic yet, since I have so many alts). Then he heard the news that you couldn't get a brewfest ram this year. He was devastated. I never thought to just go to the ram dealer and see what he had, what was the point? But after your episode on Brewfest mounts, I hopped right on and bought him his shiny, epic brewfest ram. Now I just need to get him to 60 so he can actually ride it :-) As for how I WoW and how I mix it with my personal life, both my husband and I play WoW. We also both work for ourselves (he's a computer consultant, I'm a web designer). That can be a bad combination, when you feel much more like playing Wrath of the Lich King than finishing up a client's website. It's also hard when he has time to play at home (he does most of his work at the client's location) and I have to work :-( But it helps when he spends some of his time helping my toons, like picking herbs for my scribes. We both have lots of alts, have always played Horde and Alliance fairly evenly, and run two very small guilds of real life friends and family. We don't instance much (we joke that we are the masters of four: four-manning the five-man instances because we can't get enough people together). Our parents and the rest of our family don't understand our hobby, but we have managed to get several friends and our nieces into the game, so we can talk WoW with them. Of course, sometimes we get yelled at (like at the Thanksgiving dinner table) for talking about stuff no one else can understand. That didn't stop us from telling all the undead female jokes from the game ;-) At home, WoW pretty much takes the place of watching tv and going to movies. We consider it a very cheap alternative to doing things like eating out. Our 11 year old daughter plays, but not very much, which is good. She's more into DS and going out with her friends. We're really enjoying Wrath and the Death Knights, the only down side is that I'm very busy with work (which is great), but all I want to do is play WoW. Family and real life definitely trump WoW time, which is one reason we don't do many instances. Though we do play a lot, we don't have set times we play and we often don't play for very long at a time. Thanks for doing the podcast, it's one of my favorites. Keep up the great work. I don't multi-box, but I love hearing tips on managing lots of alts. Karen Elsa - 71 Orc Hunter, Arathor Bast - 70 Humaon Warrior, Uther + 4 other alts that are actively being played right now.
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. The title comes from the fact that I have to go to a stupid family reunion . What We've Been Doing: Aprillian I don't know what to do, if anything, with Ardrion. I have a certain fondness for him. He was originally named Ctrlaltwow when I started him on the server. He is now 43 and at 300 in LW, 300 skinning and 275 cooking. But to do anything else, he has to get to 50. Right now he's good for making armor kits for my lower level Rilfire was fishing and not leveling, checked her skill window and she was 225/225. Did a quick search and found she had to go to Dustwallow Marsh and get a fishing quest. Surprised I hadn't done it sooner. She had to fly and ride to two different spots on both continents and fish until she got some speccial fish. Didn't take too long, just wish she had done it sooner and she would be levelling. Of course she got fish that she might be able to sell. Monday night I got a little treat. Palanor, Glanthur's level 22 Belf Paladin, logged on. I tripled boxed with my 3 level 19's, Pri Orc Rogue, Relaq Orc Warrior, Ishaq Troll Priest, and the 4 of us went to southern barrens to do the egg collecting quest. We died a bit, but it was my first time triple boxing this treo and doing multi boxing without any pets. I'm loving the priest and the resurrection but I have to keep her alive. I'm thinking I might want to bring up a warlock and put a soulstone on the priest. Because Palanor was higher, he drew aggro off of Relaq but I can see as we get up higher, Relaq is going to be fun to play. Wed morning took Rilfire. Pri and Relaq into Wailing Cavern. I wanted to level Rilfire's fishing from 225, but then realized Pri needed fishing too. I want to see if she can find a book without opening the crate Rilfire left WC with Fishing at 252. Took her to Falcon watch where she killed and skinned boars. Trying to do more outland stuff, to get Outland greens for Auntrillia Friday night and Saturday went to Family Reunion Thread in Instance forum berating multiboxing Rilfire went back to WC and got 17 pound catfish, sent to bank alt. 2Crazy level 10 belf hunter trying to tame level 11 serpent in WC Sunday night Ashayo EMA! (Extended Maintenance Again!) Decided to start the grind on Ashield and Asheal to get exalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive. Great way to grind for epic flying mount , plus the rewards are very nice for someone decked out in quest greens and some blues. Ashayo's raiding group has pretty much Magtheridon on farm status. Wiped on 3% because a cube clicker died, but downed on next attempt easily. Had the opportunity to play in the beta of WotLK. Completed the Death Knight starting zone. It's like an instanced area - can't just ride out. The mobs arn't static - there is a progression as the quests progress. Pretty much hit level 58 by the end, so straight to Outlands. AIE's Guppers (Gruul and unusual punishment) downed Gruul for the first time this week. And one-shot to boot. Gratz all round! Levelling shaman with RL friends. Run them through WC. Forgot to skill up on skinning, so was stuck at 75 the whole run. Ran out of time to do the escort at the end, so will be back! Fun to play with someone who has never played before. The Great Mail Cleanout Hadn't done it for a while, and was reaching the point of mail being deleted. Decided to level cooking on Hiide (2nd account). Had rediculous amounts of meat and fish on an alt, was just a matter of getting all the recipes. Mage very useful for that - porting here and there. The Aldor rise has a brazier - which can be used for cooking! Also, can land near the Scyer fire and use that - and have a Scryer alt get spices from the nearby vendor. Got up to 365, and ran out of high level mats. But still have enough to level another toon! Email: Email 1 Hello to you, Aprillian and Ashayo! Blade here... To hear my email read aloud over the interweb was... I have to tell you... an awesome experience... To hear great celebrities such as yourselves endorse what I have been doing was even more so! Y'all brought a tear ta my eye... =*) but... to actually WIN your contest! Man... is THIS what celebrity feels like? It's AWESOME! I promise to only use my newfound powers of fame for good, rather than evil... hehe On that note: 1) My address: Screenshots! As per your request, I have enclosed a number of screenshots of Tahrzaan's (mis)adventures in Azeroth... I'll send more upon request... I mention a few scenarios on the blog I have set up detailing Tahrzaan's journey, but sadly I don't have any screenies of some (the Isha Awak kill in Barrens, for example)... and now it's too late to kill him... As an aside, I was actually wondering if there was any tasks, hints, tricks or advice areas that you might feel could be an addition to your show. Oddball Stuff... or News of the Weird and Wacky... Or something like that... I will compile a list in the days to come and see if I can't come up with a whole host of cookies, "secrets" or other things to make peoples' experiences in Azeroth THAT much more fun... Like... - the fishing book that allows you to see 'pools of fish' on your minimap, and where to fish it... - the new fishing quests (like fishing up Mr. Pinchy) - little 'easter eggs' in the game content (like while fighting your way through the Deadmines to get VanCleef's head you'll encounter a Goblin Shredder. Kill it (and the goblin that pops out of it, then look at the dashboard on the Shredder. Unless they changed it, you'll see a familiar face: Kerrigan, The Zerg Queen from Starcraft: Brood Wars. She appears to be the ruler of the goblins as well! Other goblin shredders can be found in Stranglethorn Vale, Ashenvale and Gadgetzan. - or other off-the-wall ways of making gold in Warcraft (or you might keep these tricks for yourselves... but since your count was at above 2000g as of the last podcast, I somehow doubt you're overly-concerned about in-game finances...) If you think it'd make a good addition, let me know (or let's chat a bit so we can see whether personalities are compatible!) Thanks again for the callout in the podcast! My co-workers were looking at me strangely when I suddenly heard my email being read over the podcast... as I listen over my iPod, all they saw was me cheering at the ceiling and yelling 'Woohoo!' =) Thanks again for an awesome podcast! Blade / Michael thebladededge@gmail.com www.nakedmeleehunter.blogspot.com Email 2 Hey mates, Just listened to the podcast... As always a great episode, the link to mine is http://sacred.kkotd.com If you are looking for tons of them (quite a few from AIE ^_^) you can check out http://wowwiki.com/podcast They are trying to clean it up from all the inactive casts but it can take around 12 hours of your life to listen to them all. I have to say you guys are one of my faves, so please please please keep it up! Thanks, Dave aka Theranos (Fur an oes like in toes) Most people can't pronounce my name ^_^ BTW: Alt story, we took all of our bank alts out to Silithus one day, then as we hit Silithus we told everyone to hit the / key to walk. We said you could take any path but you had to keep walking! The first one to Southshore won 1000G for whatever they wanted... We started with around 20 people and ended with around 4 people two and a half hours later... O by the way we forgot to lay down the rule of no Flight Paths but as most of these alts had never left Ironforge, they only had 1 or 2 flight points so it still worked out. That has to be one of my most fun, alt related activity! I am looking for screenshots but I think most of the people have left the guild that took them so *_*... O well I will post screenshots for the Night Elf thing once we do it ^_^... Also FOR THE ALLIANCE RARGH! Email 3 Hey guys wats goin on been listing to ur podcast for about a month now and I thought you kno for being on the horde side u guys arent to bad lol jk. Ok so a lil background info im a Lvl 30 Draenei Mage on the Detheroc Server my name is Heon. SO ya their it idk if yall cld help me out or you kno someone who cld ur help would help me alot. Thanks again and keep of the podcasts Heon Email 4 Hey again Aprillian and Ashayo, its Triaa again. This week I have a great addon for saving space and clearing clutter from around your minimap. Have you ever wondered why there is so many buttons around your minimap? Minimap Button Frame takes all of those buttons and then shows only one button around your minimap. When you click on this button it opens a frame showing all of the other buttons that were around your frame originally. One great advantage I have found is that it is supported both by titan panel and Fubar. Here is the link I recommend downloading it from: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7929-MinimapButtonFrame.html On another note I finally bit the bullet and created the stereotype night elf hunter this past week. What I enjoy most about my hunter is probably my pet. My 22 hunter has a boar named porkchop :) The name was suggested by one of my friends in my guild. So if you are on the US Lothar Server and see a night elf hunter running around with their trusty companion porkchop don't hesitate to say hey. -------------------------- Thayloo- 70 Mage Triaa- 70 Warlock If anyone has any questions about mods or anything pertaining to them you can email me at wowwarlock2@gmail.com
Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. Episode 73 - No Maintaince Tuesday is Okay What We've Been Doing: Aprillian Aprillian Unlearned Primal Mooncloth, for 50g and learned Shadoweave for 20g and picked up 5 shadowweave recipes Made macro/buttons to make twobox work for different character combinations Spent Thursday morning getting pets over to the Alliance. They are selling like hotcakes. I wonder if it has anything to do with the latest info on pets in the Expansion. Authenticator and 3 accounts are fun. Aprillian made a Spellfire bag (28 slot enchanter) for Auntrillia and bought a 20 slot Enchanter's Satchel, from the vendor in Thrallmar for like 12g. She equipped the spellfire bag, and put the satchel in her bank, buying a new slot for 25g. So now Auntrillia can de to her heart's content Saturday morning Triple boxed in Outland, completing some quests that Apriliian had and the other 2 had done, and then they did the pooh quest together and going into that mine Aprillian dinged 63 and got to wear another piece of the Netherweave set, gloves. But then I noticed her shoulders were from 47 and so I got a new pair on ah. Saw her old gloves had 8+ stamina, so I ran Auntrillia around trying to find the enchant, until I realized it was from a knothide armor kit and Rilfire could make them. Levelling Relaq, level 19 Warrior, in mining and bs. Easiest levelling ever I actually got from like 40 something to 178 without hitting a node, just smelting. And AI makes it a breeze because it tells me where mats are on each alt, on the account I'm on but if I link to other alts, it tells me their mats and also what's in the vault. I had been saving so much mats, that I felt rich. I only had to go to the ah for some silver and gold ore, but not much of that. I was focused on the outlanders but I'm ambivalent. Ashayo Ashayo's Heroic night - Ramparts and Botanica RFK - Server failure FTL. Lost blue necklace from rare bat spawn. Levelling Shaman. But just duel-boxing with Jekle for heals. Levelling Mage. Hit 40 last night. Tearing through SM Mage quests - needed SM and Uldaman Completed all of Dustwallow Marsh / Mudsprocket (including mage quest to kill level 40 elite demon - soloed :) Intending to do every quest in STV! Email: 1st email: Hey guys I love the show. I just happened on it and am in the process of getting caught up on some of the podcasts. My question is do you have one or two episodes that explain how to multibox? I have two accounts and always wanted to give it a try but wasn't quite sure where to start. What type of system req's do you recommend? How do you control both characters using only one monitor and one keyboard/mouse? Any recommended mods and or macro? What types of classes work well together? How do you select quests on both characters? Sorry for the assault of questions, but it sounds like you guys are the multibox masters and I want to glean anything I can. Thanks again. -Keelhaul 2nd Email: Hey Aprillian and Ashayo its Triaa again sorry I missed last week, got busy with raiding and such. So this week I decided to bring you two addons. The first is a modification to your cast bar, It is called quartz. The advantage to using quartz is that it takes into account latency for when you are chain-casting spells allowing for maximum DPS for casters. Here is a link to download this addon: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7158/. The second addon I decided to feature this week is the chat addon which Aprillian comments on two episodes ago. It is called Prat and allows you to customize your chat windows even more. It removes the scroll arrows on your chat panel and allows you to scroll through chat by simply mousing over the box and using your mouse scroll wheel. Here is the link: http://wowui.worldofwar.net/?p=mod&m=4413. hope ya guys enjoy these addons, I'll be sure to have another one next week. Awesome episode great idea for running undead into Stormwind, now we must return the favor and run out lvl Night Elf alts to Ogri ^_^ Episode: http://ctrlaltwow.podcastspot.com/episodes/71B82A Email- Contest! Hey guys! Blade here... I stumbled across your podcast after doing a "warcraft" search in the iTunes store... and find CAW to be a refreshing change. You actually sound like you enjoy the game, but don't come across as exceptionally techno-obsessed (the extra sound effects some podcasts have can get rather annoying and distracting) ... nor do you come across as 'leet experts in all things WoW'... you sound like your enjoyment of the game stems not from T4/5 or Arena Season 4 and end-game content, but rather from the experience of 'getting there'- and growing as individuals along the way. In truth, I came to be searching the iTunes store after being led there by a website dedicated to tanking, as one of my alts (my warrior) has recently respecc'd protection ... and it was one of the few sites I could find that helped tanks not specifically obsessed with 'bleeding-edge' content and gear... for THAT reason, I put credence into what they had to say... ... which leads me to my alts, your contest and my 'unique and crazy' situation. Like most players in WoW, I have alts. I consider not one, but two characters my 'mains' (allow me to explain). Bladetusk, 70 Orc Rogue, could be considered my 'main main' as 'Blade' is the moniker that I am known by within my guild; my 'main alt' would then be the aforementioned respecc'd 70 protection warrior, Bladeskull. Rounding the list, is my 70 Mage (Greymalkyn), 65 Hunter (Wolftusk) and numerous baby alts including a baby shaman and baby druid who are acting as my bank and AH alts respectively... and there is one other who I will mention in a moment. Now... I don't have many alts (not even as many as Ashayo, admittedly) but I *have* been playing them for a while... and because I do not at present dual-box, I leveled each of them one by one to the levels they sit at now. For reference, ZG, AQ20, AQ40 and Naxxramas were but a twinkle in the developers' collective eyes when I started playing and even MC, BWL and Onyxia were 'fresh' enough content... I recently (masochistically?) did a '/played' on Bladetusk... and the number (approximately 37 or 38 days if memory serves correctly) doesn't seem like a lot... but if you figure one or two hours per night... 365 'nights' per year and 24 hours in a given day, then ol' Blade's been around quite a long time... During all of this time, I have had plenty of opportunity to test and play just about every conceivable race/class/talent combination I can think of... and plenty of opportunity to realize what I prefer as a player (For the Horde!)... which leads me finally to my last alt and my own personal craziness. Both my rogue and my hunter are my gatherers, and between them they gather every conceivable farmable mat... cloth, ores, fish, herbs, skins and motes from the clouds in Outland. I particularly enjoy the hunter as it is an 'easy' class to play... often times, while I am farming (he's parked in either zangarmarsh or terokkar forest at any given time and I farm the bog lords and trees for herbs... breaking up the monotony of the grind to grab skinnable beasts or spiders for their netherweb silk. Don't get me wrong... to play a hunter 'well' requires a certain amount of skill (the same can be said for any class) but I find I can turn off my brain when I play him... a nice relaxing time free from threat of dying... with his tanking pet, I only get concerned and use a heal pot when he's got more than 2 or 3 mobs on him at the same time... otherwise, it's a relatively effortless grind on my part. I COULD make a great deal of effort (and some day still may) and learn the class exceptionally well and become an 'exceptional' hunter... but at this point in time, I prefer to save my focus for the rogue and the warrior... And my other hunter. Tahrzaan. I decided I wanted to test my skill as a player and stretch my knowledge of the hunter class 'tricks' at my disposal... but not in the traditional way. So I rolled a Blood Elf Hunter... called him 'Tahrzaan' and stripped him naked. No clothes. Not even a weapon more powerful than the weenie starting dagger (the 0.9 dps one). Interesting? Crazy? Your first thought might be 'So what? With a pet tanking and the hunter at range, there's little danger of dying ANYway... so what's the big deal?' Wait for it... His ranged weapon is a throwing knife. Yeah. A hunter with no ranged skills to rely upon... (dagger crit for 25 damage ftw!) and when he leveled to 20, I got a huge boost in his melee dps with the addition of his skinning knife as an off-hand... And that's how he's stayed up to the present day and level 31 (and counting). Right now, he's been doing the tauren kindergarden quests to gain enough rep for his kodo mount (as Horde can't ride elephants... kodo's are the closest thing), tamed him a cat from the Blood Elf newbie area (named Numa) and ran him all the way to Darkshore and managed to tame one of the spectral cats from the cat figurine idols (the ones near the nagas). That one's named 'Sabor'. (All names derived from the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs). I log into this toon when I tire of the hum-drum of leveling/grinding or doing daily quests or farming on my litany of alts... and I must say that it is an eye-opening experience. Mana is all-important... traps become almost a necessity, and aoe attacks are far more dangerous now than they would be normally... heck... more than one attacking mob can NOW mean death if I'm not careful. I have been called a 'noob', been told to 'put on clothes', and 'lrn2play' more times than I can count... but some people are nicer about their curiosity... they simply wonder 'why'. So I tell them. Anyone can play a hunter. It takes skill to play a hunter well. *I* plan to play this hunter well WITH his handicap - both to challenge myself and to prove that it can be done. So in closing - as this has become much longer than I anticipated - it'd be great if I were selected in your 'wierd and crazy' alt contest... but even if it is not, it would be great to be mentioned in your email segment so that your listeners might be encouraged to think a little more 'outside the box'. Examples: - Gutrot the lv70 naked troll - a pacifist priest that refuses to kill for xp - survival hunters (like mine, but with armor and decent weapons) - a warlock with no pet - adventuring in the beginning (pre-BC) zones but staying on only ONE continent Cheers for an awesome podcast guys!
