...James Bond In part 2 of our journey through the James Bond songs of the 1960s, we take a look into Nancy Sinatra's effort for You Only Live Twice and the two (greedy!) songs from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Which ultimately brings us onto the battle to determine, once and for all, which song from the 1960s is the BEST and which stinker is the WORST. Ben auditions for The Pirates of Penzance, Dietrich is fighting a losing battle and Alex is shocked by Roald Dahl's contribution. Join us as we watch 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service together as a group experience. For this episode, don your frilly shirt, grab some caviar (from north of the Caspian), and cue up your copy of On Her Majesty's Secret Service as the panel chats over the film in real-time with observations, trivia, insights, and irreverence. Along the way, we discover an unfilmed screenplay, ponder the prevalence of purple, recount other ill-fated weddings, and get stuck in an elevator with George Lazenby (then buy him socks and eat his bacon). On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a 1969 spy film and the sixth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions. It is based on the 1963 novel by Ian Fleming. Following Sean Connery's decision to retire from the role after You Only Live Twice, Eon Productions selected an unknown actor and model, George Lazenby, to play the part of James Bond. During the making of the film, Lazenby announced that he would play the role of Bond only once. In the film, Bond faces Blofeld (Telly Savalas), who is planning to hold the world ransom by the threat of sterilising the world's food supply through a group of brainwashed "angels of death". Along the way Bond meets, falls in love with, and eventually marries Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg). It is the only Bond film to have been directed by Peter R. Hunt, who had served as a film editor and second unit director on previous films in the series. Hunt, along with producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, decided to produce a more realistic film that would follow the novel closely. It was shot in Switzerland, England, and Portugal from October 1968 to May 1969. Although its cinema release was not as lucrative as its predecessor You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service was still one of the top performing films of the year.[2] Critical reviews upon release were mixed, but the film's reputation has improved greatly over time and is now regarded as one of the strongest entries in the series. There's the marvellous Diana Rigg, the enigmatic Telly Savalas, the brazen editing and special effects - and of course, the Boy from Queanbeyan himself in his only Bond outing. Enjoy!

So, that plan to build up to No Time to Die went well, didn't it? Nevertheless, we're pressing on, with Mark reviewing George Lazenby's sole turn as Bond in the much-misunderstood On Her Majesty's Secret Service. This was worth it if only for the Dick Van Dyke anecdote. Before that, we've got another point on the most competitive grading curve in Hollywood (well, apart from Paul Thomas Anderson) as we ask where Onward fits into Pixar's canon. Relax: this tale of two elven brothers on a quest for one more day with their dad is not Cars 2. And Mick drops by to review Eureka Video's Syncopation, a newly reissued jazz drama from Golden Age Hollywood auteur William Dieterle. Following the mixed response to On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the producers of the Bond series attempted a hard course correction, by dumping George Lazenby for the ever aging Sean Connery. Despite featuring maybe the greatest theme song by Shirley Bassey which most millennials remember because it was sampled by Kanye West in the 00s, this may be one of the worst enteries in the entire series. Much like an old Pro Wrestler making a return for a WrestleMania payday, Connery was way past his prime, and this series way past its relevance in the 1970s. It's no surprise that this is the end of Connery's run as Iam Flemming's secret agent. That said, Do We Like Diamonds Are Forever? Download our new episode to find out!

The Mayor and his father, a James Bond fan of some long standing, take a look at the only James Bond movie with a Christmas setting, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". It's a movie that takes some pretty bold moves with the franchise, all of which they hastily undid next time. Oops.
As promised, just in time for your Christmas commutes, our coverage on the holiday classic (at least in our eyes) Arthur Christmas! We had to scramble to save this podcast (and in the process, Christmas itself) so we have to do a rare live to edit recording, so this one is hot off the press. Apology to the younglings, there may be one swear word still in there. Next show will be covering James Bond's classic 1969 (now 50 years old) On Her Majesty's Secret Service!
Here we are again the latest episode from the triplets of Nerdity, that’s right folks those wacky goofballs have done it again. First up we have Buck bringing us news about new robots using the art of Kirigami. The art of cutting paper, in this case it is cutting and folding paper. This method has been applied to robotics with some awesome results. Now while it is only early days, we ask you to remember the Origami claw we featured a while back. With this in mind you will understand why Buck is excited, and Professor joins in with the excitement. This is just the start of the show and it is already looking fantastic.Next we look at the dismal lack of taste exhibited by the foolish bunch of weirdos in Hollywood behind the Golden Globes. That’s right we said it, actually Buck did if any snipers are being sent for reprisals. But seriously, just get those idiots to go look at some of the amazing work in animation out there. It doesn’t have to be all CGI, honestly Hollywood was built on proper special effects. These days they struggle to do anything outside a computer lab. While we are not meaning to insult CGI and the wonders it can produce, why can’t we have some proper animation and anime getting awards. When can we see some real special effects like we used to get back in the day. Not meaning to sound as grumpy as Buck or as old as a Boomer but seriously the talent involved in special effects was astounding.Last we look at a remake of Sonic 06 that is actually looking good. That is until corporate lawyers realised they could make money by getting it shut down. Take a moment and open the link, doesn’t that look so much better then what was dumped on the market like so much garbage? The amount of work involved must be mind-blowing, but there may be hope for the future. Want to know what that might be, well you will need to listen in to find out. You thought I was slipping and going to tell you everything, but believe me, there is so much more for you.We finish with the regular shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and special events. As always we hope you take care of yourselves, look out for each other and stay hydrated.Self-folding robots using kirigami- https://techxplore.com/news/2019-12-robots-self-folding-kirigami-materials.html- https://www.pnas.org/content/early/2019/12/11/1906435116/tab-figures-dataAnime Movies snubbed from Golden Globes - https://www.cbr.com/golden-globes-shuts-out-anime-films-promare-weathering-with-you-i-lost-my-body/Sonic 06 Remade by a Fan - https://www.engadget.com/2019/12/11/sonic-p-06-unity-pc-fan-remake/Games currently playingBuck– Pirates Slay - https://www.crazygames.com/game/pirates-slayRating: 4.5/5DJ– Frenzy Retribution - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1108560/FrenzyRetribution/Rating: 4/5Professor- Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition - https://store.steampowered.com/app/813780/Age_of_Empires_II_Definitive_Edition/Rating: 4.733/5Other topics discussedKirigami Definiton (variation of origami that includes cutting of the paper, rather than solely folding the paper as is the case with origami, but typically does not use glue.)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirigami- https://www.origami-resource-center.com/kirigami-for-kids.htmlT-1000 (A fictional character in the Terminator franchise. Continuing our Borg retrospective, we cover the Voyager 2 parter "Scorpion". Next week we will do our inaugural Christmas themed episode, covering the Christmas classic Arthur Christmas. After that it'll be James Bond time again as we cover "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".
Sean Connery looks really old for 41 in Diamonds Are Forever. And if you watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service starring 29 year old George Lazenby right before it, well then Connery looks really really old. What gives?
Join Jeff and Jim as they ring in the yuletide season with their fave holiday flicks: Jim basks in all the 60's technicolor lush glory that is On Her Majesty's Secret Service, while Jeff brings Bill Murray to dinner with 1988's Scrooged. And we may just get a visit from the man with the bag! If you want to make the 'nice' list, you better press play... #tmi #tmipodcast #tmiconfessionals #tmimovies #hudsonvalleysnerdiestpodcast #christmas #ohmss #onhermajestyssecretservice #scrooged #jamesbond #007 #georgelazenby #dianarigg #billmurray #karenallen
Here it is! The podcast you have all been waiting for! That's First Contact the movie! Our Borg retrospective will continue with Voyager's Unity, and then the cliffhanger two parter, Scorpion, done as a single podcast show. We will then proceed to do our Christmas themed show based on the all time Christmas classic (or at least we hope it to some day become), Arthur Christmas! Then it's time for another James Bond series entry as we tackle the ever divisive On Her Majesty's Secret Service!
What's this? A non TNG episode? Yes, our Borg retrospective has moved on to Voyager! As Borg shows go, this one was a huge surprise, forgoeing big action and suspense and instead focusing on a community trying to re-gain something they've lost. We also, sigh, yes, make fun of Chakotay again. Our next show will cover the Voyager two parter Scorpion, and then we move onto a Christmas themed episode, covering the classic animated tale of "Arthur Christmas', followed by another James Bond retrospective, covering On Her Majesty's Secret Service!
In 2019, we would like to give thanks to Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and, yes, even George Lazenby for giving us so much Bond goodness over the years. In that spirit, we present our biggest BONDATHON yet with discussions of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, THUNDERBALL, and ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. People think Daniel Craig's James Blonde started the more serialized storytelling of the franchise, but we're here to set the record straight! So gobble up some turkey and listen while you nap between football games, it's time for the Forgotten Film Pod! You can also listen to the Forgotten Film Pod and all CineEFFeries on iTunes, Stitcher, and most pod-catchers near you. This week Tom returns with Brian Dobson to reminisce about their pilgrimage to Piz Gloria to celebrate the 50th anniversary of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. You'll hear what it was like to spend an hour hanging out with George Lazenby at the bar. You'll discover what it was like to circle Piz Gloria from a helicopter with distinguished members of the world press. And you'll hear stories of grown men in tears at the sheer enormity of the occasion. Not only that, we talk about our Bond 'Euro Trip' across Switzerland to numerous Goldfinger locations, our visit to the Goldeneye Dam, and how we finished up the jaunt scoping out Mr. White's house from the waters of Lake Como.

Are they irresponsible in how they portray masculinity, often toxic masculinity, or are they commenting in a post-modern fashion on how they exist in our culture? Did this ever happen to the other fellas? This week we dive into a retrospective of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service.' As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, we look back on the film that's often dubbed the 'odd-one-out' by the media and assess how it is seen now by fans and the general public. Along the way, we muse on how American television audiences were left confused, restoration mistakes, changes to the final cut, and ponder a new way to judge George Lazenby's performance. At the end, we round out with a recap of the latest Bond 25 news and add another entry to the Bond cover song hall of shame. The recording took place on June 21st, 2019 in the USA, UK, and Spain. Find us at: iTunes Spotify Patreon CW: Violence including violence against women, casual sexism, sexual harassment, murder, public outing of transgender people Full disclosure - this movie was so boring at spots that at least one of us was falling asleep in the climactic scene. I mean, there’s good action and a darker, tougher James Bond, but there’s something so inescapably mediocre about this very boilerplate 80’s action film. Maybe it’s the fact that there’s so many similar plot points to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service that this movie would’ve gotten sent to the principal’s office for cheating in high school. Or maybe it’s the fact that this was supposed to be Roger Moore’s final Bond film and so many younger Bonds could have taken this movie and run with it. This one’s a mess, and not in the fun way. Listen as we break down 1981’s For Your Eyes Only! Macintosh & Maud have started a Patreon! Any little bit you can contribute helps, and we have special contributor-only content if you donate at the $2 level, including two Bond specials, 1967’s Bond spoof Casino Royale and the 1983 non-Broccoli Bond remake Never Say Never Again! Sifting through the archives of our Ian Fleming series from 2016-17, we have pieced together a sample of our conversations based on the literary source material for the movies being discussed throughout BNB. Appearing every 6 episodes or so, these bonus shows throw chronology to the wind and are cut to follow the order of our BNB roulette, inviting you to learn a bit more about the stories behind the films. For this first bonus ep, we dive deep into the source material for The Living Daylights, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Goldfinger, Quantum of Solace, Diamonds are Forever and Casino Royale.
George Lazenby might be a one-and-done Bond, but we’re not done talking about this movie! It’s the exciting conclusion to our 2 part “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” epic! What did we think about this all-new, all-different Bond movie? And about the film’s controversial ending? We slam back another Tim Tam Slam and talk all about it! — Hosted by Chris Nyarady and Keegan Flick-Parker Edited by Chris Nyarady Logo by Keegan Flick-Parker Boozing & Bonding Theme by MissingNo (Check them out at missingnoband.bandcamp.com)
George Lazenby takes over the role of Bond, and we have so much to talk about! So much in fact, that this is our first two-part episode! So join us in part 1 of our discussion of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” where we disagree on the film’s music, agree on how awesome the Bond girl Tracy is, and we cozy up with some boozy hot chocolates and coffees as Keegan teaches Chris the finer points of a Tim Tam Slam. — Hosted by Chris Nyarady and Keegan Flick-Parker Edited by Chris Nyarady Logo by Keegan Flick-Parker Boozing & Bonding Theme by MissingNo (Check them out at missingnoband.bandcamp.com)

How the bloody hell are ya? We're back with another bond flick, this time featuring the fair dinkum George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). We're here with old mate (Thomas Owen) and if I can be frank, we're not here to fuck spiders. Don't reckon I have to tell ya twice that this here is a ripper of a film, so shake up a tinnie and let's get started. We also yarn about time travel, job prospects for Olympic skiers, and shattering the fourth wall of the franchise forever. Check our style out!If you have an idea for a rebooted franchise you'd like us to do next, hit us up on facebook or twitter @SIcurioshow and @curionetwork, or at curionetwork.com. If you like the episode share it with a friend and leave us a review, we'll love you for it!
