GREG PALAST EXPOSES HOW THE 2024 ELECTION WAS JIM CROW DISENFRANCHISED   We start GREEP Zoom #211 with “Resistance” from our Poet Laureate MIMI GERMAN.   We then welcome the great GREG PALAST for a full-bore excursion into how the massive Jim Crow disenfranchisement of millions of Americans put Donald Trump back in the White House.   Palast warns that “your ballot will be rejected” at an astronomical rate if you are a person of color, meaning the 2024 vote count was heavily coded by race to pull off the soul-killing death-of-American-democracy coup now in poisoned progress.   Palast's VIGILANTES INC. is at www.gregpalast.com & is a must-see for anyone concerned about the preservation of what's left of American Constitutional freedom.   We also hear from the uniquely power election protection audit expert RAY LUTZ, and from Greg's associate PATRICE GALLAGHER.   Greg. Patrice & Ray are joined for clarifying comments from NATHAN TAYLOR, PAUL NEWMAN, HEDY TRIPP, CD BUCKLEY, JOHN SEELEY, MICHAEL MCMILLAN, LYNN FEINERMAN, JULIE WEINER, MICKI LEADER, ERINNE ROCHELLE, NICOLE UNG, BARBARA WRIGHT & other truly wonderful Greepster participants.   The upcoming national April 22 Earth Day broadcast is explained by prime organizer MYLA RESON, who will convene the breakthrough event in about two months.   Our co-convenor MIKE HERSH raises the question of whether there needs to be a dialogue as to whether there really is an anti-Christ and if what's happening now in America qualifies as “Apocalyptic.”    We will reconvene on PRESIDENT'S DAY to revisit much of the research done by Greg and available through VIGILANTES INC  at www.gregpalast.com.   See you on Prez Day with George & Abe, February 17, in Solartopia!!!

A former Stoughton, Massachusetts, police detective charged with murdering a pregnant woman appeared in a brief court hearing on Monday as both sides continued reviewing evidence. Matthew Farwell, 38, was indicted in August 2024 for the death of 23-year-old Sandra Birchmore, who was found dead in her Canton apartment on February 4, 2021. Birchmore, who was three months pregnant, was allegedly killed to prevent authorities from uncovering Farwell's long-term sexual exploitation of her. Prosecutors say Farwell first met Birchmore when she was a child in the Stoughton Police Department's Youth Explorers Program. By the time she was 15 and he was a 27-year-old officer, authorities allege he had begun an inappropriate sexual relationship with her that continued into adulthood. According to investigators, Birchmore told Farwell in December 2020 that he was the father of her unborn child, at which point he became aggressive. Court documents allege that he put her in a headlock and told her he wished she were dead. Monday's hearing focused on the ongoing discovery process. Farwell was not required to appear in court. Outside the courthouse, Birchmore's supporters gathered in protest and spoke to the media. “It's been a long time coming, and I hope that Sandra finally gets justice—hopefully this year,” said Birchmore's cousin, Barbara Wright. “I define justice as seeing Matthew go behind bars for the rest of his life.” Prosecutors argue that Farwell staged Birchmore's death to look like a suicide. The indictment claims he acted to prevent authorities from uncovering his criminal behavior, which allegedly included engaging in sex acts with Birchmore while on duty. Farwell has pleaded not guilty. An internal affairs investigation revealed that Birchmore first encountered Farwell at age 13 through the Stoughton Explorers Program. Investigators say he used his position as a police officer to groom, exploit, and abuse her, continuing the relationship into her adulthood. While on duty, Farwell allegedly falsified records to claim he was working when he was actually with Birchmore. In late January 2021—just a week before Birchmore's death—a friend of hers contacted the Stoughton Police Department and mentioned Farwell's sexual involvement with her. When Farwell learned of the inquiry, investigators say he sent Birchmore angry messages and visited her apartment, requesting a spare key and urging her to keep it secret. Federal authorities allege that, in the days leading up to her death, Farwell searched Birchmore's home, including her closets and bathroom, before ultimately killing her. Her death was initially ruled a suicide, but federal investigators later uncovered new evidence that led to Farwell's indictment. Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara has strongly condemned Farwell's alleged actions, calling them “the single worst act of not just professional misconduct but indeed human indecency that I have observed in a nearly three-decade career in law enforcement.” “As I have stated previously, Sandra Birchmore received no justice during her life. It is imperative that justice be served in her death, and today's actions appear to bring our society one step closer to justice,” McNamara said in a statement. PELTIER, ELECTION PROTECTION & the ECO-BROADCAST NETWORK Our GREEP Zoom #209 begins with “Time” by our Poet Laureate MIMI GERMAN. We hear the latest about Leonard Peltier from TATANKA BRICCA and LYDIA PONCE in concert with the Indigenous community supporting him:  “I would like to be out of prison, but I am a free man.” BARBARA WRIGHT reminds us to thank The Creator for the fact that Leonard is out of prison & with his people. LIndsay Graham, Lisa Murkowsky & Susan Collins are summoned for praise by DANIELA GIOSEFFI. Will Trump's GOP wear itself out with a Rope-a-Dope of illegal acts, asks MYLA RESON. We hear from MIMI S about the need to recognize what should have been with Bernie Sanders. From Columbus, Ohio we hear from SANDY BOLZENIUS about the kinds of election fraud that turned the Buckeye State to Bush in 2004.  . From co-convenor MIKE HERSH we bemoan the Democrats' lack of a backbone—except when disenfranchising people of color. “How long can they keep this up?” wonders MELISSA HALL. Massive disenfranchisement demands a class action case against the Democrats for failing to protect the vote, says DAVID SALTMAN. Bring in Ray McClendon and the NAACP, says JOHN STEINER. Our erstwhile engineer STEVE CARUSO evokes some of the carnage now damaging our planetary consciousness. For the inauguration of the ECO-BROADCAST NETWORK we hear from green media activists LIBBE HALEVY, DOUG WOOD, JACK EIDT, ALEX SMITH, STEVEN STARR, URSULA RUEDENBERG about building a major media presence for a post-nuclear green-powered broadcast reality.  With this gathering we “made history” says Mike Hersh, & will continue next week with still more.

Tread Perilously celebrates its 500th podcast by going back to the beginning -- the first ever Doctor Who story: "An Unearthly Child." When Shoreditch area schoolteachers Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton have a conversation about an unusual student, Susan Foreman, their questions lead them to a junkyard at the end of Totter's Lane. Inside, they find no trace of Susan, but instead discover an out-of-place police box. Soon, they encounter a difficult old man who not only turns out to be Susan's grandfather, but an alien known only as The Doctor. And when he sets his time machine to 100,000 B.C., it begins a huge adventure for the foursome. Justin reacts to just how different The Doctor is in his first appearance. Erik recalls some previous episodes of the podcast. Susan finally gets a discussion all her own. Barbara and Ian also take focus, forcing Justin to reconsider one of his previously established archetypes. Erik tries to give producer Verity Lambert some of her due. The issues with episodes 2-4 are explored. The initial William Hartnell depiction of The Doctor leads to some myth-making about the show. Justin has a hard time holding onto Jacqueline Hill's name and the pair imagine other Doctor/companion teams dealing with the cavemen and their quest for fire.

At Bryan Kohberger's court hearing on August 29, 2024, the judge paused proceedings after the defense showed social media content during a presentation on a potential change of venue for Kohberger's trial. The defense argued that extensive pretrial publicity in Latah County, Idaho, could bias potential jurors. The judge decided to stop the hearing temporarily after Facebook posts and videos related to the case were shown, citing concerns about spreading such information publicly. Sandra Birchmore's cousin, Barbara Wright, stated that the indictment is "a long time coming" and emphasized her belief that Birchmore's death was never a suicide. Wright described Farwell as "sick" and urged parents to be vigilant about programs like the Explorers, which Sandra joined as a teenager, seeking a career in law enforcement. We pay our respects to William Russell, the actor who played Ian Chesterton, Doctor Who's original leading man. With Russell, Ian proved to be a solid and dependable man of action and reason. Along with Jacqueline Hill, who played Barbara Wright, the two provided the moral centre for the early show, which relied on their decency, normality, and dependability to guide the viewers in the early mid-1960s along this amazing adventure in space and time. The programme will likely never see another character like Ian again. The opening music is from "The Chase" soundtrack composed by Dudley Simpson and the closing music is from "The Aztecs" composed by Richard Rodney Bennett and performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra in 2021. Ian & Barbara are our first companions, our original audience surrogates, and such a large part of Doctor Who that it would have been difficult to see the production continuing without them. Their loss ushers in a new era and signals the end of Part I of Hartnell's time as the Doctor. The Doctor, and the show, is never quite the same. In a very real way, these two companions are never "replaced" in function--rather the Doctor absorbs their roles. Let's take a moment to celebrate these two companions who perhaps taught the Doctor more than any of the others--compassion and courage that comes from empathy towards others and the moral wherewithal to feel obligated to help.  The Doctor as we know him would not be the Doctor without his first two human friends.____NEXT TIME:For Classic Who: The Time Meddler (Episodes: "The Watcher," "The Meddling Monk," "A Battle of Wits," "Checkmate")--Monday, January 31stSpecial thanks to Cathlyn "Happigal" Driscoll for providing the beautiful artwork for this podcast. Here we are again the latest episode from the triplets of Nerdity, that’s right folks those wacky goofballs have done it again. First up we have Buck bringing us news about new robots using the art of Kirigami. The art of cutting paper, in this case it is cutting and folding paper. This method has been applied to robotics with some awesome results. Now while it is only early days, we ask you to remember the Origami claw we featured a while back. With this in mind you will understand why Buck is excited, and Professor joins in with the excitement. This is just the start of the show and it is already looking fantastic.Next we look at the dismal lack of taste exhibited by the foolish bunch of weirdos in Hollywood behind the Golden Globes. That’s right we said it, actually Buck did if any snipers are being sent for reprisals. But seriously, just get those idiots to go look at some of the amazing work in animation out there. It doesn’t have to be all CGI, honestly Hollywood was built on proper special effects. These days they struggle to do anything outside a computer lab. While we are not meaning to insult CGI and the wonders it can produce, why can’t we have some proper animation and anime getting awards. When can we see some real special effects like we used to get back in the day. Not meaning to sound as grumpy as Buck or as old as a Boomer but seriously the talent involved in special effects was astounding.Last we look at a remake of Sonic 06 that is actually looking good. That is until corporate lawyers realised they could make money by getting it shut down. Take a moment and open the link, doesn’t that look so much better then what was dumped on the market like so much garbage? The amount of work involved must be mind-blowing, but there may be hope for the future. Want to know what that might be, well you will need to listen in to find out. You thought I was slipping and going to tell you everything, but believe me, there is so much more for you.We finish with the regular shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and special events. As always we hope you take care of yourselves, look out for each other and stay hydrated.Self-folding robots using kirigami- https://techxplore.com/news/2019-12-robots-self-folding-kirigami-materials.html- https://www.pnas.org/content/early/2019/12/11/1906435116/tab-figures-dataAnime Movies snubbed from Golden Globes - https://www.cbr.com/golden-globes-shuts-out-anime-films-promare-weathering-with-you-i-lost-my-body/Sonic 06 Remade by a Fan - https://www.engadget.com/2019/12/11/sonic-p-06-unity-pc-fan-remake/Games currently playingBuck– Pirates Slay - https://www.crazygames.com/game/pirates-slayRating: 4.5/5DJ– Frenzy Retribution - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1108560/FrenzyRetribution/Rating: 4/5Professor- Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition - https://store.steampowered.com/app/813780/Age_of_Empires_II_Definitive_Edition/Rating: 4.733/5Other topics discussedKirigami Definiton (variation of origami that includes cutting of the paper, rather than solely folding the paper as is the case with origami, but typically does not use glue.)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirigami- https://www.origami-resource-center.com/kirigami-for-kids.htmlT-1000 (A fictional character in the Terminator franchise. Susan Foreman is intrigued by Dr Song, but something else is stalking her in the darkness and fog of London, 1963… 6.2 The Web of Time by John Dorney The capital has been evacuated. Monsters stalk the Underground. For River, it’s the perfect opportunity to steal a priceless artwork, so long as she can avoid looters, soldiers and an alien invasion. But her biggest challenge may be keeping time itself on track… 6.3 Peepshow by Guy Adams Miniscope parts fetch quite a price on the open market – luckily, River knows where she can find one that’s about to be decommissioned. Unfortunately, this particular miniscope is chock-full of aliens, as well as unsuspecting Earthlings. River must face a carnival of monsters before she can claim her prize – across miniature habitats, Ogrons, Sontarans and Drashigs await! 6.4 The Talents of Greel by Paul Morris River visits Victorian London on the trail of anachronistic technology. But when young women are stolen from the streets, she takes a stand. River’s investigation leads to theatre impresario Henry Gordon Jago, and his latest star act: Li H’Sen Chang and the unnerving Mr Sin. But if River’s going undercover at the Palace Theatre, she needs to have a song…

In our latest Documentary on Newstalk, Producer Patricia Baker tells the remarkable story of 700 female students from colleges in Oxford and Cambridge who travelled by steamboat to Trinity College Dublin in the early 1900s to collect their degrees…because their own universities refused to confer degrees upon women…IN Steamboat Ladies Steamboat Ladies is the story of 700 female students from colleges in Oxford and Cambridge who travelled to Trinity College Dublin by Steamboat between 1904 -1907 to collect their degrees. They did this because their own universities refused to confer degrees upon women. In 1904 Trinity College Dublin opened its doors for the first time to women students. This was a ground breaking move but it had unintended consequences. Between 1904 and 1907, 700 female students from colleges in Oxford and Cambridge travelled to Trinity to receive their degrees, because their own universities refused to confer degrees upon women. They travelled to Ireland by Steamboat. And as such became known as “the Steamboat Ladies”. These were pioneering women from the field of academia, science, and humanities, and they went on to have careers that began to shape the newly emerging role of women in politics and society. The arrival of the Steamboat Ladies to Trinity was hugely significant. They brought with them an enormous wave of possibilities for women that is still felt today. Steamboat Ladies tells the remarkable story of these pioneering academics and by doing so explores the continuous battle for gender equality within academia. “I think their story is untold, it is not known”  “We were shocked when we heard it, we thought that’s just a story, but it is real” “People who live in our area and go to our type of school, they thought they won’t make it, they won’t be able to go to college, they won’t achieve anything” “Just because we are women and we live around this area doesn't mean we cant achieve what we want to”. “The Steamboat Ladies did not have the opportunities that we have, so why shouldn't we take these opportunities”.  “They did not limit themselves so why should we limit ourselves”.  “It is normal for us to go to college because of people like them.” ‘The Mercy Girls’, 6th Year students from Mercy Secondary School Inchicore “Trinity said, ‘we have opened our doors to women now, so for three years we will give degrees to women from Oxford and Cambridge who have successfully completed their degree examinations.’ I think they thought a few Irish girls who were not able to go to Trinity would apply. In the end 700 applied. So they were overwhelmed by all these young women - and not so young - coming over and doing this, and it turned into quite a big episode. It was very good for Trinity women, because they saw these academic women, proudly wearing their gowns and hoods, all professional women, and they said that is what women graduates can do. “Most of them only came for one night, they would have been lecturers, they were working in school teaching or in public life. They took one day off, they came on the overnight Steamboat, stayed one night in Dublin, got their degrees the next day, and went back the following night. That is why they got nicknamed the Steamboat Ladies. You can imagine an invasion of all these women into Trinity, they came and they went.  They were always known, both here and in Oxford and Cambridge as the Steamboat Ladies. Emeritus Fellow Susan Parkes “When I became a fellow of Trinity in 1968, to mark this occasion, the then Principle of Newnham, Cambridge, Dame Ruth Cowen, gave me one of the Steamboat Ladies gowns, to mark this event. It was a plain black gown. It was a gift from Cambridge to me personally. I thought that was really moving that they wanted to mark the full accession of women to all stages in Trinity, in gratitude for what Trinity had done for them.  These were very important women, in society, and in the world of learning, and it was extremely important that they should be recognised as such. Emeritus Professor Barbara Wright  Note: 1968 was the year that Trinity eventually allowed women to become Professors and Barbara Wright was one of the first women to be appointed Professor.
