In works of fiction, he demonstrates the strengths of his characters in action, and zooms in on the inner processes that these characters use. Bill's worldview is open-minded, scientific, inclusive of the possibility that the universe is conscious, and that each of us experiences the consciousness of the universe as our own consciousness, and that reality at its core is consciousness, with matter and energy being phenomena projected within consciousness. Definitely had some interesting thoughts about Jordan Lee Dooley's book, Own Your Everyday. When it comes to public speaking or running a business, comparing where we are on our journey to where others are is an easy trap to fall into. We see big names speaking on stages we've dreamed about, releasing best-selling books, or having incredibly successful launches. Suddenly, we forget their success didn't happen overnight. In this episode of The Speak to Scale Podcast, we're going to quiet that comparison voice for a moment and focus on what really matters: how to own your message, build a solid business foundation and start speaking based on YOUR unique path. Jordan Lee Dooley is the author of the National Bestseller, Own Your Everyday, which has also been named a "Best Book to Read to be a Better Person in 2019" by Inc Magazine. She has also been listed under Forbes, Hallmark, and Success Magazine's 30 Under 30 List. She hosts the Top Rated SHE Podcast, and her mission is to equip women with the tools they need to live purposefully and reach their greatest potential. Today, Jordan joins us on the podcast to pull back the curtain on her journey to success and shares practical lessons (and advice) on how we can own our message and use it to grow a successful business. You'll learn how Jordan went from running an Etsy store to becoming Best-Selling Author by paving her own way and chasing her passions… and how you can do the same for your life and business. This is the FINAL episode of the Dudes Series, y’all! This is actually the first episode I recorded for the series and the one where I ask the top 15 questions you’re dying to ask the men in your life. This episode, I’m talking with Matt Dooley—you may recognize his last name because he is married to my good friend Jordan Lee Dooley, who just released her book Own Your Everyday. He is humble, unafraid of his wife’s strength, and a man of integrity. In this conversation, we tackle A LOT to get ready to take notes. Do guys know when a girl has a crush on them? No—you’ve got to spell it out for them. “We don’t have the same emotional intelligence as women.” Do guys develop attraction over time or does it have to be there from the get-go? He knows this won’t be the case for everybody, but he knew the moment he met Jordan that she was the one. “You want the person to love you for who you are—don’t change yourself so a person will like you.” Which do you value more—respect or love? He mentions a book called Love & Respect by Emerson Eggerichs. The book outlines that while men and women need both love and respect, women need love most and men need respect most. How do I know if he likes me? He will prioritize you if he likes you. “When you’re in a relationship with someone, you have to sacrifice for them.” Is it true that if he is interested he will do whatever it takes to make it happen? He’ll definitely pursue, but The Notebook isn’t real life. Don’t be afraid to take a leap and start a conversation about it if he is not being clear. Do you think guys and girls can be just friends? No—biologically we were not wired for that. “When the romance isn’t there, the friendship isn’t there.” How can I let him know I am interested in being more than just friends? The same way he will show you—give him your time. “To love at all is to be vulnerable.” – C.S. Lewis Would you recommend dating someone who doesn’t share your worldview or faith? Shared faith is the rock-solid foundation of a successful relationship. “When you have arguments and disagreements, you have this to fall back on.” Are men intimidated by women with a successful career? Men can be competitive by nature—but he should be focused on supporting his wife more than feeling insecure. “Is she going to give me the time and attention that I need?” What is something women do that feels emasculating? He likes to pay for dinner on a date. Basically, let a man be chivalrous and honor you. “If you don’t let a man put you first, he’s not going to put you first.” How can a woman honor and respect the man in her life? “Acknowledge his successes and encourage him.” This is more effective than yelling at him when he makes mistakes. What do you think men are looking for in a relationship? They need someone to push them and call them on their crap. “You want someone to call you out because you’re refining each other.” Why do you think a lot of guys don’t date within their own community (like church)? Fear of awkwardness at church every week if it doesn’t work out. Some of them may do this because they don’t want the accountability. What do you think is a guy’s biggest fear in a relationship? Infidelity, especially if that is something he has been hurt by in the past. Where are all of the single Godly men? “Not every guy is going to look like Brad Pitt, have a six pack and love Jesus.” Give a chance to the guy who is pursuing you. Sometimes when you start small, or begin something new, you can feel a bit like an imposter or a fraud. Like, why should someone trust or like something that YOU have created? That feeling can seem so strong and real, it’ll leave you thinking you’re stuck in your circumstances or have made all the wrong decisions. Can you relate? Truth is: we’ve all felt this way- and it’s just as untrue and false for all of us. In this episode, listen in as Jordan walks through Chapter 4 of Own Your Everyday and drops some some truth bombs on how to eradicate these lies and step into your purpose. You’ll learn how to identify the reasons you’re holding yourself back (ahem - expectations), the tangible steps to take to break through the mindset limitations, and how to kick your fear of embarrassment. Sister, it’s time to start envisioning your life as a path to walk on - not a as box to sit in - because your purpose is way too important to settle for anything less. Does it ever seem like you still have to find your purpose or that you’re stuck with a lot of unanswered questions about your true desires for life? And if you’re anything like me, you probably feel the pressure to prove yourself and worry about what others will think, right? It has been one of the greatest challenges in my own life. But I’ve learned is that if I let myself, I’ll always be waiting for some distraction to end before I can really get down to the work of owning my everyday life. Well that’s the topic of today’s conversation. And that’s the story of our guest today, Jordan Lee Dooley. From accidentally starting a small business instead of using her college degree, to embarrassing herself onstage in front of thousands, to wasting time worrying about what others think or say, Jordan Lee Dooley knows exactly how that feels—and she’s learned some important lessons about living a purposeful life along the way. As an influential millennial widely recognized for her tagline turned international movement, “Your Brokenness is Welcome Here,” Jordan has become a go-to source that people around the world look to for inspiration in their faith, work, relationships, and everyday life. In today’s practical and really candid conversation, through the lens of Jordan’s new book, Own Your Everyday: Overcome the Pressure to Prove and Show Up for What You Were Made to Do, you’re going to learn how to tackle obstacles such as disappointment, perfectionism, comparison, and distraction. You’re going to understand how to remove labels and break out of the box of unrealistic expectations put-on you by others…and yourself. Then, you’ll be able to identify and eliminate excuses and unnecessary stress about an unknown future while overcoming the lie that you can’t live your God-given purpose until you reach a certain goal or milestone. It’s time to own your everyday and push aside the weight and distractions of insecurity and shame. And it’s time to jump into my conversation with Jordan…right now. Key Statements You don’t discover your purpose. Your purpose is within you. When your insecurities meet your unmet expectations, the pressure to prove yourself manifests. Often, the most important lesson we’ll learn is the hardest to learn. Buy the Book Does it ever seem like you still have to find your purpose or that you’re stuck with “unfigured-out dreams”? I got to spend an hour with one of my favorite people for this week's episode of Thriving Beyond Belief: Jordan Lee Dooley! Wife, speaker, soon-to-be author (and fellow Enneagram 3), Jordan is sunshine personified. We take some time to talk about some themes in her upcoming book, Own Your Everyday. It is refreshing to discuss contentment in a world that is shouting for us to find our purpose. We break down what true purpose is, that small, intentional steps make up the large leaps in our lives, and that although we are called to steward our lives well, it is okay to not be "hustling" 24/7 if it means we leave out the Lord in the process. Jordan so pointedly reminds us that knowing the Lord IS our calling. He is our purpose. We so often run around and try to seek out the "one thing" that we are called to, instead of seeing that the one thing we are called to is to be faithful. Let us not be deterred by the enemy to chase the hustle rather than walk with the Lord. Jordan talks about the fact that doing what we are called to do is not limited to what we do professionally; we are called to love others well, we are called to be good stewards of the bodies we have been given, etc. When we finally understand that life is not lived to reach a particular pinnacle, but rather it is a beautiful journey, we experience true freedom! The journey is filled with the mundane path, which is the everyday that we are given the opportunity to be faithful with. The journey also includes places of wilderness, which is where we tend to learn the most. And the journey is filled with moments in the garden, which is where the Lord wants us to intentionally rest and spend time with him. These paths and places make up our life. Let us make the most of them. There are so many wonderful pieces of advice and encouragement from Jordan in this episode that you will find yourself taking notes to take with you into your day. Here's to owning our everyday!

On this episode, we are joined by the young and wise Jordan Lee Dooley. Jordan shares the amazing backstory of how she started her online business and turned a college hobby into a thriving business. She also shares her raw and real story of dealing with body issues and her journey to complete freedom. In this episode we discuss: 1. How she turned her side hobby into a thriving business 2. How we can overcome an unhealthy “pressure to prove” 3. Setting boundaries around our goals 4. Her struggle and victory in finding a healthy body image Favorite quotes: 1. I've found a lot of times the reasons we don't do things or step into new things or start small is really a mindset problem and not a skill-set problem. 2. What is your favorite beauty splurge this month? I know how you love your makeup. (33:33) 2. My son is in pre-school. We can't decide whether we should send him to public school, Christian private school, or homeschool. What is your advice for us as Christian parents? (35:55) 3. Jordan Lee Dooley joins me today. She is a multi-passionate women who is speaks, writes, podcasts (SHE podcast) and creates (SoulScripts). And she has a book launching in May called Own Your Everyday: Overcome the Pressure to Prove and Show Up For What You Were Made To Do. In the midst of a culture where everybody feels like they need to work within their purpose and/or push their creativity to be a side hustle, it’s easy to feel like purpose and position become blurred. It is sometimes difficult to find the balance between working for income and working with meaning. We talk about the balance between purpose and position; how to discover what you were made for; things that limit us from stepping towards what we were made to do; who inspires her; and what she’s learned in the early years of marriage. So many times I see people look at successful entrepreneurs and just assume they were an overnight success. Not only that, we think that they ended up where they are today because they had 100% clarity on where they wanted to go and had no stumbling blocks along the way. But that's just simply not the case, and today's guest is a perfect example! I am so excited to introduce you to a good friend and SBHE Live 2019 speaker, Jordan Lee Dooley. Jordan is the host of the SHE podcast (which just hit over one million downloads) and author of Own Your Everyday, but it didn't start here. It actually started about 5 years ago in her sorority room storage closet hand-lettering products for her brand new Etsy shop. It's funny, because we think that in order to be successful there is a straight and narrow path to lead us there, but it's just the opposite! It's like a roller coaster ride with ups and downs and twists and turns that lead us step by step in our journey.... IF we don't give up! I'm so excited for you to hear Jordan's story and how she has ended up where she is today. "All because of a little shop that I started in college..." At minute 0:35 Jordan is telling us her back story, how she got where she is today, how she started her own business and how she became an influencer. Hear if gaining a following scared or excited Jordan when it first started happening. "Things can happen somewhat quickly if we take action ..." At 8:26 Jordan tells us how quickly this all happened for her and if it was a lot of trial and error or not. Hear where Jordan was putting most of her time, the places she was showing up and her content strategy. "I had no idea what I wanted to write a book on..." At minute 15:00, we dive into how Jordan's book came to life. Jordan talks about how she uses 3 things: motivate, educate and captivate people to reach an audience in an authentic way. "It serves the bigger mission at hand..." At 25:38, Jordan and I talk about how she decided to start a podcast and what made her decide it was the next place for her to go. Plus, how she launched her podcast with a launch team! If you want to connect more with Jordan, you can find her on social @jordanleedooley. Be sure to check out her book coming out in May! You can preorder it here, and check out her podcast, SHE podcast!
