Hey friends! Welcome to Girls' Night! At the moment we're in between seasons here on the show. But while we're waiting for our next official season to begin, we thought this would be a great time to pull some of our favorite episodes out of the Girls Night archive. This is the perfect time to catch up on episodes you might have missed, or listen again to old favorites. I'm so excited about today's episode. Today we have my real life friend, Jordan Lee Dooley back on the show to teach us how it's possible to really like our lives (even when we're not exactly where we want to be). Jordan has a new book called, Embrace Your Almost: Find Clarity and Contentment in the In-Betweens, Not-Quites, and Unknowns. I love this because so many of us have found ourselves here. So many of us are experiencing heartbreak, disappointment, lost dreams, and never-ending delays. We're in seasons of waiting — waiting for a relationship, a promotion, a baby, or a big move. We're in a place where our life just isn't working out the way we thought it would, the way we really, really want it to. And that's HARD.  It's even harder to know what to do when we're in this place. Do we try harder? Do we keep pushing? Do we give up and walk away? How do we know? And as we're waiting, what do we do in the meantime?  Jordan's going to walk us through all of this and more. I can't wait for you to hear from her.  Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, Sharon and entrepreneur, author, and podcast host, Jordan Lee Dooley have a discussion about the lessons to learn in the almost spaces of our lives. For many of us, achievement of one goal leads us to feel like the finish line is always moving; we're always reaching to complete the next goal. Jordan advocates for slowing down and redefining contentment, and to consider it active engagement in our lives no matter where we are in relation to our goals. We can find this active contentment by looking for ways to serve, finding a hobby, getting curious, checking something off our bucket lists, and plugging in to a good community. The “almost” space is also a great place from which to pause and evaluate; sometimes our dreams shift and change, but change does not mean we have failed. Hi friend! You are in the right place! Do you feel like you are in-between seasons? Things seem to both move too fast and too slow, and you're generally unsure of which direction to go on almost everything in your life. My friend Jordan Lee Dooley joins me today to talk about her upcoming book and share her story and heart about what to do when you are in the “in-between.” We also discuss how broken dreams make us rethink everything. (Hello, the last two years!)  The fantastic thing is that even the wins of our perceived failures (along with God's love) can make you a better and happier you. I just love Jordan's message, and I hope our conversation provides you encouragement and reassurance today. Listen in to learn more about: Coming to terms when your dreams and goals don't seem to go to plan. Coping with burn out and fatigue. The wisdom to live in the season of the  ‘middle'.  Favorite quotes: ~ Most of our lives are actually lived in the middle, we aim for the mountain top moments and the moments where we have the victory and cross the finish line but the majority of the time of the race that we run is spent running the race and enduring the sore legs and fatigue.  ~ There is very little that we can control the outcome on, what we can control is our effort. ~ Implementing a sabbath, creating a regular rhythm of rest, consistently for a year, was helpful for us, our marriage and family.  ~ There are so many things, weeds , lies, beliefs etc that can take root in the gardens of our lives, our hearts and minds and it can feel impossible to get out but assigning them to a physical activity like decluttering a closet is representative of something that I am trying to remove from my life and allowing for good things to grow in my life.  ~ Success is not just outcome oriented, it can also be process oriented. ~ Success comes down to being content in the middle and being content in the present  while being clear about what you value so you can make intentional steps towards the future.
