It's Will this time! He's the one with the issue! Well, it's also Laura and Claire... and probably you. It turns out passive aggressiveness isn't just about your one snarky friend. That disconnect between what we express and what we communicate lies at the heart of passive-aggressive behavior.
"The Einstein of Wall Street," Peter Tuchman, breaks down the massive market swings seen just in the first couple hours of today's trading action. When it comes to his frustration surrounding the sell-offs, he calls Trump's tariff policies a "self-inflicted" wound on the economy. Peter says the White House needs to provide tariff clarity and corrections after trillions of dollars have already been wiped from the stock market. He urges investors to wait for a momentum shift before turning to equities.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about

About the Episode:Addressing passive-aggressive comments like a ninja is highly satisfying. It can stop the aggressor in their shoes and wake them up to the impact they're having. Most passive-aggressive comments are simply unskilled communications of negative feelings. By directly and neutrally addressing passive aggressiveness, we can support each other to grow as human beings. In episode 121 of the Art of We podcast, we get into the nuanced terrain of passive aggressiveness in both personal and professional relationships. Dr. Will and Krista Van Derveer discuss its subtle nature and how it can operate under a veneer of politeness, making it challenging to detect and address. They dive into the psychological underpinnings of why individuals resort to such behavior, highlighting the cultural lack of effective tools for expressing negative feelings directly. The hosts share practical strategies, share personal anecdotes, and role-play scenarios to illustrate how to respond to passive aggression in a way that fosters understanding and growth rather than perpetuating a cycle of negativity. They advocate for an approach that involves acknowledging the impact of such comments, expressing one's feelings without aggression, and seeking to understand the underlying needs of the other person.A must listen for:Individuals in leadership positions who deal with other humans :)Partners who have a hard time communicating their needs and wants skillfully People who have a family or community that has a habit of passive-aggressive behaviorAnyone who loves to grow!Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or on your favorite podcast platform. We prep ourselves for so many challenging conversations, whether asking for a raise, delivering a tough performance review, asking for more budget, or even debating a political issue as if we're going to war. We brace for the confrontation. That puts us in a really unhelpful place to have true connection and conversation - and that just intensifies the misunderstanding and animosity with no helpful outcome. But there's a way out of this cycle. And woo boy! I clicked instantly with today's guest and I know you will, too. Today, Justin shares a very personal story about his trip back to Ghana to confront his absent father and how he changed the conversation following his own 5 pillars to bridge the divide. We also discuss how to practice conversational receptiveness, and how to avoid the dotted line dilemma and the illusion of asymmetric insights which both hinder meaningful engagements with those we don't see eye-to-eye with. Justin also unpacks actionable ways to have better conversations and cultivate curiosity through the Power of 3 Questioning module. Where are my fellow control freaks? Such an interesting and way more helpful perspective to rethink and redefine perfectionism. You know when you read a book and it's so groundbreaking and helpful, you can't help but tell all your friends, post about it? Well, I was the recipient of essentially being attacked on all sides that I needed to read this award-winning book, The Perfectionists' Guide to Losing Control by Katherine Morgan Schafler. Katherine is a seasoned psychotherapist and former in-house therapist for Google, with a BA in psychology from Berkeley and 2 masters from Columbia University and I've got her incredibly refreshing and game-changing approach broken down today. We talk about self-punishment vs. discipline. We talk about adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism and why restoration and resting feels like failure to perfectionists - and my favorite, control vs. power. I really am super excited for you to hear it and can't wait to hear what type of perfectionist are you!Timestamps:[00:10:01] Redefining Perfectionism[00:13:14] Gender bias in language.[00:17:22] Perfectionism and power seeking.[00:23:10] Five types of perfectionism.[00:27:21] Parisian Perfectionists and Relationships.[00:31:26] Knowing your type of perfectionism and collaborating with others[00:34:10] Self-worth and self-esteem.[00:39:03] Rethinking self-punishment and discipline.[00:42:14] Emotional education and self-compassion.[00:50:07] Resisting rest and restoration[00:54:12] Restoring and emptying out.[00:58:37] The Power of Play.[01:02:07] Presence and Power.[01:07:37] Gray rocking techniqueKatherine Morgan Schafler - Guest Links:The Perfectionists Guide to Losing Control - A Path to Peace and PowerWhat kind of Perfectionist are you? Understanding the Neglectful Narcissist: Why Recognizing the Signs Matters When we think of narcissism, we often picture the grandiose, attention-seeking individual who craves admiration and validation. However, there is another, less obvious type of narcissist who can be equally damaging: the neglectful narcissist. Unlike their overt counterparts, neglectful narcissists are more subtle in their behavior, making it harder to identify the harm they cause. This type of narcissist may not openly demand praise or validation, but their impact can be just as devastating, especially when it comes to emotional neglect. In this episode of Breakdown to Breakthrough with Life Coach and award winning author, Lisa A. Romano, you will learn about 5 signs that indicate you are living with, married to, or were raised by a neglectful narcissist. Understanding the signs of a neglectful narcissist is crucial, but it's important to approach this topic with caution. The signs can be ambiguous, often masked by behaviors that might seem normal or even benign on the surface. This subtlety is what makes the neglectful narcissist so dangerous. They might not engage in overtly abusive behavior, but their lack of empathy, attention, and emotional support can leave deep, lasting scars. It's not always about what they do—it's about what they fail to do. Their indifference, dismissiveness, or emotional absence can slowly erode a person's sense of self-worth, leaving them feeling unseen, unheard, and unimportant. Why is it so important to recognize these signs, even when they are vague or ambiguous? Because the impact of living with or being close to a neglectful narcissist can be profound and far-reaching. The emotional neglect that characterizes their behavior can lead to feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and depression in those who are subjected to it. Over time, this can result in a deep-seated belief that one's needs and feelings are not valid or worthy of attention. By becoming more aware of the subtle signs, individuals can begin to protect themselves from the insidious effects of this type of narcissism, reclaim their sense of self, and take steps towards healing. Understanding the neglectful narcissist isn't just about identifying the signs—it's about recognizing the patterns of emotional neglect that can be so easily overlooked. It's about acknowledging that even without overt abuse, the damage can be just as significant. By educating ourselves about the more ambiguous nature of this behavior, we empower ourselves and others to break free from its effects and move towards healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Embark on the path to conscious awakening, emotional healing, and transformation with Lisa's Conscious Healing Academy, which includes a 3 tier coaching system that assists with one's awakening, emotional intelligence, and mental and emotional mastery. 12 Week Breakthrough Program (Level One - The Awakening) 8 Week Master Your Reality (Level 2 -- Deliberate Creating) Soul School - (Level Three -- Ascending Ego) To learn more, contact Lisa and her team members here; Contact Website Spotify Award Winning Books Facebook Support Group
