There are few questions more terrifying, more soul-shaking, or more likely to keep you awake at 3 a.m. than this one: How to know when your marriage is over? I mean… whew. Just saying that out loud makes my stomach flip. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I've walked this path with many people, and in this episode of the Love, Happiness & Success podcast, I'll help you walk through it too—with clarity, compassion, and courage. Today we're unpacking the hidden signs, hard truths, and hopeful possibilities around one of life's biggest crossroads. We'll talk about the difference between a rough patch and a dead end, what to do if your partner won't engage, and how to get the real support you need to move forward confidently—whether that means healing your relationship or letting it go. What if your anxiety, brain fog, or mood swings aren't in your mind... but in your mitochondria? I know—that sounds wild. But in this jaw-dropping episode of Love, Happiness & Success, I'm talking with Dr. Bret Scher about something that completely changed the way I think about mental health: Metabolic Psychiatry. We dive into the cutting-edge (but surprisingly old!) science behind mind and energy psychiatry that connects mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, ADHD, and even serious psychiatric conditions with how your body uses energy. Spoiler alert: your brain runs on fuel, and what you eat matters a lot more than we were taught in grad school. Together, Dr. Scher and I unpack how ketogenic therapy is helping people reclaim their mental clarity, lift mood disorders, and, in some cases, experience complete transformation. If you've been “doing the work” and still not feeling like yourself, this conversation might be the missing piece you've been searching for. Ever leave a conversation feeling like your brain's been scrambled and you're not sure why? Maybe you're suddenly questioning your own reality, feeling guilty, or bending over backwards for someone who... let's be real, might not deserve it? If that sounds familiar, pull up a chair, my friend. Today, we're pulling back the curtain on manipulation—not to teach you these tactics (please don't use them!), but so you can spot them, disarm them, and never get played again. In this episode of the Love, Happiness & Success podcast, I'm breaking down the five most common manipulative tactics, why they work so well, and how to protect yourself—with confidence, clarity, and maybe even a little compassion. TIMESTAMPS 00:00 – Welcome to the dark side (just kidding... kind of) 01:28 – Why manipulation works on good people 04:51 – Awareness is your superpower 06:01 – Guilt-tripping 101: How they hook you 09:07 – How to disarm a guilt trip like a boss 18:03 – Playing the victim: When empathy is used against you 31:36 – Love bombing: It's not just for dating apps 33:01 – Healthy relationships take time (and boundaries) 36:55 – Narcissists, splitting, and people who come on way too strong 43:22 – Withdrawal + passive aggression = manipulation in disguise 54:11 – Let's talk about gaslighting (finally!) 01:01:18 – What to do if you have vulnerabilities that get you caught in this stuff If you're realizing that certain relationships in your life are way more complicated than they should be—or if you've been stuck in a cycle of guilt, confusion, or second-guessing yourself—you don't have to stay there. Ever feel like your friendship is taking more out of you than it gives? If you've ever found yourself stuck in a relationship that feels draining, toxic, or just plain bad, you're in the right place. In this episode of Love, Happiness & Success, I'm sitting down with Dr. Marisa Franco, a brilliant psychologist and bestselling author of Platonic, to talk about one of the toughest aspects of relationships—knowing when a friendship is no longer serving you. Together, we'll dive into the signs of toxic friends, how attachment styles play a role in our friendships, and whether or not these kinds of relationships can be saved. You'll learn practical strategies to spot the red flags, approach difficult conversations with kindness and clarity, and—if it comes to it—find the courage to end friendships that have run their course. Here's what we cover: [00:00] The Friendship Trap: Why difficult friendships are harder to leave than romantic ones. [03:57] Attachment Styles in Friendships: How your past impacts your present friendships. [11:40] Making Positive Changes: How to recognize toxic patterns and start healing. [17:34] Conflict or Goodbye? How to assess if this friendship can be saved. [28:21] Deciding to End a Friendship: When enough is enough, and how to let go with grace. Do you ever feel like happiness is always just one more achievement away? Today on The Healing & Human Potential Podcast, I sit down with my dear friend Robert Holden, Director at Happiness Project & Success Intelligence, to explore how constantly chasing happiness might actually be keeping it out of reach. Together, we unpack some of his famous and thought-provoking quotes, including the idea of "destination addiction"—the belief that happiness is always somewhere in the future, never in the present. Robert and I discuss how to break free from our culture's obsession with instant gratification and start living fully in the moment. We dive into how joy is something already within us, and why self-acceptance, rather than endless self-improvement, is the true path to happiness and success. If you're ready to stop chasing and start living, tune into this deep conversation filled with wisdom on following your joy and finding fulfillment right where you are in this moment. === Join the Self-Doubt to Sold Out Challenge – a free 3-day live experience designed to help you build unshakable confidence, attract soulmate clients, and grow your coaching business. Throughout each day, all of us make little shifts in our roles and responsibilities; we take off one hat and put on another. Sometimes these shifts are physical, as when we commute from home to the office. Other times, the shifts are mental, as when we finish working on an administrative task and start working on a creative one.My guest calls these little shifts “microtransitions” and says that mastering them is a significant key in living a happy, fulfilled, and successful life. His name is Dr. Adam Fraser and he's a peak performance researcher and the author of The Third Space. As Adam explains, in each microtransition, there are three spaces: the first space which is the task, role, or place you're leaving behind, the second space, which is the task, role, or place you're transitioning to, and the third space which is the in-between transition itself. To make an ideal microtransition, you break that third space into three phases, and Adam walks us through how to execute each one so you can show up as your best self in the second space. We talk about how to make microtransitions between different work roles, and spend a lot of our conversation on how to improve the microtransiton between work and home — even if you work from home — so you can arrive ready to engage with your partner or family.Resources Related to the PodcastSunday Firesides: Your Routine Needs Rites of PassageAoM article on how to use a “Homeric bath” as a transitional “homecoming” ritualAoM article on how Alexander Graham Bell used “locational prompts” to be more productiveAoM article on doing different kinds of work in different placesSunday Firesides: Give Them the CreamConnect With Adam FraserAdam's Website
In the final episode of this season Natalie is joined in the studio by singer, actress and passionate runner Suzanne Shaw to talk all about the long road to happiness & success. Discussing the key factors in overhauling her lifestyle, Suzanne reflects on the social life that can accompany performing and how alcohol consumption and a poor diet was having a detrimental effect on her mental health and wellbeing. She opens up about making the decision to quit alcohol 3 years ago and says that it was one of the best decisions she's ever made, allowing her to be more present, focussed and energised. So much so she recently completed the huge feat of running 4 ultra marathons in 4 days, a challenge she says she never would've even contemplated before going sober. As the conversation turns to social media and the age of comparison Suzanne firmly believes we need to drop the idea of perfection and slow down to genuinely live our best lives. She remarks on the six pack in six weeks, earn 6 figures in a month mentality that social media fuels and points out that it's unrealistic and can lead people to an unhealthy place of self sabotage and comparison. Elsewhere in the conversation Suzanne opens up about her thoughts and feelings towards performing, noting that now is the time for her to be passionate about new goals having achieved so much, so young, including the development of her wellbeing platform The Happy Health Club which helps its members and community find their own versions of happiness and wellbeing through expert coaching, recipes and conversations. Listen in for an honest, inspiring conversation that touches on a whole host of topics including mental health, diet, exercise, parenting and self development.

Mindset Hacker! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving because that's what we are going to be talking about today! On this episode we are going to talk about the neuroscience of Gratitude and how and why it can shapes your future in a beautiful way and taps you in for success! If you have a practice of gratitude and sit down every day and spend some time meditating or writing down what it is you are grateful for, and put your full attention on it, it should trigger a feeling in your body. The feeling of gratitude in your body is serotonin, and it feels amazing. So, the thought/intention, creates the feeling (serotonin) in your body. Do this long enough and 3 cool things are happening: 1) You are wiring the neurons in your mind to fire in a more efficient pattern making it automatic to look for things to be grateful for. You start to think differently. 2) Your RAS (reticular activating system) is the part of your brain that filters out the crazy huge amount of data that you absorb and deliver what is most important to your conscious mind. The RAS starts getting trained to widen your awareness and you see things you didn't see before (opportunity, people, tools, skills)! 3) The cells in your body start to get used to more serotonin and even CRAVE it when you don't have it, making you agitated and pushes you without you realizing it to do what you need to do to get into the state of happiness.
In this episode Monica explains the importance of creating safety in your life BEFORE you expand areas of your life. The thing about having more is, more is more. In Season 2, Episode 15 of the Forest Fires, Addiction, Recovery & Redemption podcast we discuss how our flawed definitions of happiness, success and freedom can keep us chasing unobtainable goals. I was talking to a client about the feeling of deserving and how to feel worthy of happiness and wanted to share my thoughts. Being able to say "I am worthy of love, success, happiness, money, a good life..." isn't easy for many of us. Maybe you don't struggle with it, but it certainly took me a long time to get to that point where I felt "worthy". We hold onto those times in our past when we messed up - when we said the wrong thing, when we weren't in the right place to help someone who needed us, when we overindulged, when we thought of doing something malicious to someone who wronged us… …and for me, that often fed into me thinking that I am "broken" because of it…We think, because of this one moment or this one decision, this is who I am. I am a bad person because of this one thing. We refuse to accept that our past mess ups and imperfections are part of the story and journey which make us who we are today. And that simple fact that we are all on a journey where we MUST struggle, fail, and learn to triumph, makes us just like everyone else. The people who judge us are often either blind to their own projections of inner fears and inferiorities, or so hurt inside that they see no other way to feel better than to lower someone else's status. And the people who love us, accept us, and grow with us are also no less flawed than anyone else in the world today. The truth is, we're not broken. We're human. We're all messed up.I can't tell you how many loops of those negative thoughts of not being good enough I've gone through.Want to know what I've learned though?Your ability to feel better about yourself and more worthy of success comes down to 2 main things 1) your self-talk and 2) intentionally taking steps outside your comfort zone to "seek your dragons"You can change your self-talk and mindset through hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming, or many other modalities. It's really not that hard when you know how.Intentionally getting out of our comfort zone is the biggest shift that takes the most work. Why?Because your comfort zone will always exist in many different domains of your life. And after you take a step out, you acclimate and it all becomes comfortable again… But as a gamer, the mindset of seeking uncomfortable situations is deeply rooted in us. The main character must seek their dragons. They must face unforeseen challenges. They must learn new skills through their experience. They must change to achieve their goals. It can be invigorating and empowering if you bring those principles into your daily life.In this episode, I share a story and some powerful mindsets on how to feel worthy of your happiness, success and love.Hope it helps :)***Connect and Support Geek Psychology #geekpsychology ***Geek Psychology Website: www.geekpsychology.com for courses, quests and much more!Join the community of like-minded geeks and gamers who want to play life better: https://community.geekpsychology.comINFP only safe place and community access: http://infp.geekpsychology.com***WANT TO BE COACHED BY ME?***Book your free strategy call with Matt Sherman today.https://schedule.geekpsychology.com*****FOR THE INFP "I Now Feel Positive" Masterclass*****Go straight to http://infp.geekpsychology.com Get started with the INFP Masterclass today and receive the FREE ORIENTATION, JOURNAL outline, and INSTANT ANXIETY RELIEF TECHNIQUE.Disclaimer: These are my opinions. Greg often says, “Tell me your habits and I'll tell you your future.” Habits are the MOST important thing to determining the outcomes and happiness of your life. Habits will make or break your mental, emotional, spiritual, social, physical, family, and financial life. Where you are right now — and the quality and happiness of your life — is a DIRECT result of the habits you have had to this point. Where you want to go, who you want to become, and what you want to do, will be the DIRECT result of the habits you cultivate or break today. And yet, this is something that is not even taught to children, teens, or young adults anytime during their school years. It is something that few adults even understand. Instead, we're taught to sacrifice our habits — or to develop bad habits — in the name of grades, tests, or graduation. This is a major contributing factor to the mental health and obesity crises we're seeing in the world today. This is despite the research that shows there is NO correlation between academic success and life happiness and success. Let's change that. Listen now to learn what the habits are for a successful life and how to develop and cultivate them intentionally in your own life and that of your children. My guest today is author and Harvard Professor Arthur C. Brooks. Arthur's latest book 'From Strength to Strength' is a beautiful look at how we can move graciously to the different phases in our life. We discussed ways to not only find something we are passionate about but also the way to approach investing in our long-term happiness. Rather than focusing on success addiction, make sure to create balance with family, friendship, and faith. Believe me, I love the idea of the pursuit of excellence but we just have to keep in mind and pay attention to at what cost. Everything that the world tells us will make us feel good and happy is typically not working in our favor. Arthur's book gives poignant and easy-to-follow ways to implement these important concepts into our day-to-day lives. It doesn't matter which curve you are on, it is never too late to pay attention to where we are investing our time and energy. In this special Season 2 opener, Carey welcomes author, speaker, researcher, and staunch advocate of Positive Psychology to her office, Shawn Achor. Part of Shawn's mission is to challenge the modern idea of equating happiness with pleasure and replace it with an ancient Greek definition- namely, that happiness is the consistent growth towards our ultimate potential. It's a broad and ambitious goal, but Shawn's teaching on how to implement this practice is anything but broad. His experience as both a world-class researcher and someone who has personally struggled with anxiety/depression allows him to come ready with a psychology-backed list of small habits and activities that can change the way you deal with stress, and in turn changing the way you lead and perform. Keep listening to hear more about Shawn's beginnings in Positive Psychology, his thoughts on the supposed phenomenon of “Toxic Positivity” in the age of social media, and why “Scanning for Gratitude'' is one of the most powerful practices for anyone trying to be happier and more present in daily life. Quote of the Day Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Happiness & Success come in the little things like... Today I want to talk to you about Leadership Somedays I just want to share with you thoughts I happen to be studying and review myself. This morning I was listening to John Maxwell talk about leadership, and I had a few thoughts I wrote down to share with you. Leadership is a combination of 2 things... 1- Values 2- Competency Values are a key factor and you cannot separate these two things. John also talked about creating impact in your life through Round Tables... The 3 main questions people within your influence are asking (leadership) are: 1- Do you care about me? 2- Can you help me? 3- Can I trust you? Ask yourself these core questions about your life in business, personal, family, and relationships. All 3 of these questions are important and critical for leadership and also a fulfilling life of impact. Are you Goal Oriented or Value Oriented? Goals without values will allow you to hit benchmarks that are unfulfilling. Values will allow you to still hit your goals and exceed your growth in many ways. I hope that you have an amazing day and thinking carefully on how you are showing up as a leader in your life and business right now. Thanks for listening. George Wright III

However, a few years ago, he finally decided to do something differently and embarked on a deep inner work journey, based on the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, one of the most popular spiritual teachers and authors today with his top-selling books The Power of Now and A New Earth. In this episode, we dived deep into Eckhart's teachings of letting go of our ego and realizing that we are not our thoughts, our emotions nor our bodies. And instead to recognize we are the awareness behind our thoughts, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Listen to this fascinating episode to hear Phil's insights on what is our real purpose here? How can we find deep long-lasting happiness? And hear his own experience of going through his profound spiritual journey and how you can apply his learnings to your journey as well. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/aworkinpurpose/support
