New Year pressure aside for this conversation where I'll share a recent aha moment where I realized instead of seeking my soul's purpose, maybe, just maybe that our soul's purpose may be as simple as being a good, loving human in our daily interactions. I offer a few thought-provoking questions about what it means to live from the heart—to seek a life guided by intuition and inner wisdom rather than the intellect. Living from the heart is ongoing inner work, involving processing emotions, practicing forgiveness, letting go of control, and opening ourselves to learn life's lessons. It is through this journey we develop the compass that guides us. Guides us even though living from the heart leaves us vulnerable to pain, it is the only way for sustained growth. Each hurt makes space for more joy and connection. I'll also share how this message inspired a few upcoming episodes and guests and other exciting news for season 6 of the Grounding Journey Podcast! Stay tuned for an inspiring and thought-provoking conversation. Let's get started!"To me, [purpose] means the reason that something exists or another way to say that is a reason for being."[01:30] - Elizabeth Dixon"I had a moment that really woke me up to the fact that I was defining my purpose in a lot of ways by my work. I wasn't bringing my purpose to my work, and that there was a really big difference between those two."[02:15] - Elizabeth Dixon"When we extract our purpose from [our work], we can really get shaken up... The opposite of that is knowing our purpose, why we exist. And then we bring that into that season, that stage, that job, we bring it to our work."[03:10] - Elizabeth Dixon"Statistics say, and some experts would say this is a very conservative number, that 75% of people say that they cannot articulate their purpose in life."[06:05] - Elizabeth Dixon"We have to make sure that we are thinking about our thinking."[09:49] - Elizabeth Dixon"What are your thoughts throughout the day? Are they aligned with your sense of purpose?"[10:30] - Elizabeth Dixon"We need emotions to be in the car, but in the backseat of the car... If our feelings are driving anything, we are really all over the place."[14:26] - Elizabeth Dixon"My purpose is to reflect Jesus by galvanizing people and ideas for good."[17:44] - Elizabeth Dixon"I think I want to leave behind a legacy of a wife and a mom and a friend who reflected my creator."[22:04] - Elizabeth Dixon"When we think about ourselves in that place [looking back at 80 years of living], what are we going to be most proud of, and what do we need to do today to truly live that out?"[25:05] - Elizabeth DixonABOUT NICK GLIMSDAHLSubscribe to my weekly newsletterFind me on TwitterFind me on LinkedInLISTENER SUPPORTPurchase Nick's books: Reasons NOT to Focus on Employee Experience: A Comprehensive GuideApparel: https://www.teepublic.com/user/press-1-for-nick Support this show through Buy Me A CoffeeBOOK RECOMMENDATIONS:Learn about all the guests book recommendations here: https://press1fornick.com/books/ BROUGHT TO YOU BY:VDS: They are a client-first consulting firm focused on strategy, business outcomes, and technology. Living His Purpose Daily can seem daunting at times. Through scripture Jodi shares the biblical perspective we all need to see our lives through and then provides some practical ways she chooses to live His Purpose Daily. The following scriptures/scripture passages were used in this episode; John 4, Matthew 5:3-12, 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, Hebrews 11:6 And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:17-20 (ESV) Jodi would love to hear from you! email: hispresenceandpurpose@gmail.com Follow She Walks In Purpose - https://www.facebook.com/walkinhispurpose - @walkinhispurpose If you would like to support She Walks In Purpose, please visit https://www.unitetoknow.org/she-walks-in-purpose and give to Forged In Faith Oak Ministries and earmark your donation 'She Walks In Purpose.'

Lives without purpose are wasted. Do you know your purpose? Are you intentionally living for the glory of God and the mission of making disciples? We are continually tempted to merely exist, or to become apathetic toward our divinely-given mission. Don't attempt this on your own. The Giver of purpose is the Giver of power. When Jesus sent out his disciples on mission, he gave them authority. The Holy Spirit is more than willing to empower all who seek to serve God and others.

We all want to retire, don't we? We can't wait until that day where we can live without any worry about going to a 9 to 5 job and sustain ourselves financially without any traditional income. Doing this, and doing this earlier in life, can be amazing, but it can leave us with a lot of holes and questions. One of which is: Where do I find my meaning and purpose now? This is a profound question, especially for those of us planning to retire early. At the root of this question are both identity issues and the need to work as we were created to. We all need to do things that maintain some semblance of purpose in our lives, and retirement makes this so much more difficult. Today, we discuss: 1. The issues with early retirement 2. Those are the “downloads” -- what happens if you take that idea, journal on it, who knows, you might have your next brilliant plan.” “There's a difference between being happy, having amazing possessions and experiences and living with your purpose. Those are all different things, and we try to combine them into one single object.”

Week 1 – Jeff Maness – August 11, 2019 Glory – Purpose Big Idea: God's glory gives us a purpose so that our purpose can give God glory. Romans 11:36 36 For everything comes from him (God) and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen. Big Question: What kind of purpose does glory give us? Main Scripture: Romans 15:14-22 Romans 15:14 14 I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them. Romans 15:15-17 15 Even so, I have been bold enough to write about some of these points, knowing that all you need is this reminder. For by God's grace, 16 I am a special messenger from Christ Jesus to you Gentiles. I bring you the Good News so that I might present you as an acceptable offering to God, made holy by the Holy Spirit. 17 So I have reason to be enthusiastic about all Christ Jesus has done through me in my service to God. 1. A unique calling from God Romans 15:18-19 18 Yet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ has done through me, bringing the Gentiles to God by my message and by the way I worked among them. 19 They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God's Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum. 2. An unfiltered Promotion of God Romans 15:18a 18a Yet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ has done through me… Psalm 20:7 Some nations (people) boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 34:2 I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. 3. A heart for those unreached by God Romans 15:20-22 20 My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else. 21 I have been following the plan spoken of in the Scriptures, where it says, “Those who have never been told about him will see, and those who have never heard of him will understand.” 22 In fact, my visit to you has been delayed so long because I have been preaching in these places.
